Efficient Web Application Management with Modular Designs
When designing with modularity in web application development the sole main focus is enhancing efficiency, scalability, and maintainability . This actually possible by breaking down an application into independent, reusable modules. In contrast to a monolithic approach, where all components are tightly coupled, modular architectural design structures the application into separate, self-contained units. In such case, you can modularize the account verification, product management, and payment processing.
This separation allows web developers to work on individual modules without disrupting the entire system, making updates, debugging, and feature additions more manageable. Just like by following Laravel’s modular principles using Service Providers, Repositories, and Packages, teams can develop cleaner, more structured codebases that are easier to scale and maintain.
Support Parallel Development and Flexibility
Modular architecture enables software development teams to build, test, and deploy individual features independently. If one module requires changes or optimizations, it can be modified without affecting the rest of the application, reducing downtime and improving development speed. So, the modular architecture is particularly beneficial for large-scale applications like an office furniture online system, where different teams may handle inventory, customer management, and order processing as separate modules. Try implementing modularization with Laravel, you'll achieve a robust, high-performing, and future-proof web application that efficiently adapts to growing demands.

My interview with the Lead Programmer of TRON 2.0 and Designer of the Light Cycles experience, Kevin Lambert, for the 20th Anniversary of TRON 2.0.
You'll have to pardon me for constantly stumbling over my words, I was nervous during the entire interview.
Also did my best to clean up the audio. I don't have professional recording equipment, just a cheap headset with a microphone. Removed as much as I could of clicks, pops, hiss, breathing, clipping, and so on. But there was only so much I could do, and the final result definitely isn't perfect. You can still expect some distracting noise.
I can't thank Kevin enough for agreeing to do this. I'd like to try interviewing other Monolith Productions staff – who worked on TRON 2.0 – in the future, too.
I also want to thank @thedavetron (Senior Manager of Quality Assurance at Buena Vista Interactive, at the time TRON 2.0 was released) and Andrew Borman (Digital Games Curator at the Museum of Play).
Here's a link to the written version. It's not a word-for-word transcript, but rather summarizes the interview.

usenet comments of late October 1998 by Randy Landers, fanzine publisher
these two quotes do a great job of illustrating just how much of a pain in the ass it was to run any sort of website that got even a little popular back in 1998. 2100 visitors and 370 megabytes transferred? yeah you're pulling something like $175 in monthly costs to service that.
this guy's paying normal commercial hosting rates. a person on a free host would have been having their site constantly blocked off due to too much bandwidth usage and waiting for those blocks to time out. if someone was lucky enough to be getting hosting under university or corporate auspices they might either be able to just absorb this with no issue, or the high traffic might cause the relevant administrators to finally notice your account needed to be restricted.
these are the kinds of things I think of when people try to claim the 90s internet experience wasn't "corporate". it's not just that most places people actually went back then were corporate, it's also that non-corporate sites quickly ran into trouble with their corporate hosts if they got popular and the site runner wasn't able to fork out quite a lot of money.
you know what you can get for $175 a month in hosting today? essentially everything short of serving millions of people a day. you can already get a simple mostly static site of the kind people were running in 1998 for something down around $13 a month now with effectively unlimited storage and bandwidth usage, on shared servers with minimal cgi-bin/php sorta interactivity. paying as much as this guy apparently did would be bringing you up to a full private server colocation set up where you're providing your own server and getting served with guaranteed minimums like dedicated multi-gigabit bandwidth and as much storage as can be shoved in the server's case.
and well that's $175 in October 1998 dollars, it's more like $330 now. And at that scale you're starting to get co-location services like 30 rack units of space for your internal network devices and multiple servers, the power to run them all, and a multi-gigabit dedicated bandwidth to your designated network cabinet in the data center. The scale of what your dollar gets you has increased massively, and the scale of what a dollar gets you adjusted by inflation has increased even more.

been thinking abt this quote from shuhada' sadaqat & about how this relates to the idea of distress tolerance & how it's valorized in our society as a marker of Great Strength to be resilient. to be able to stand up from being beat down & keep it moving. to not break down ever, and if you do, to recover quickly. the unspoken part of this platitudinal belief of "resiliency above all else" is the ways in which capitalism has directly caused the distress to begin with and how it demands we keep pushing through that distress in order to keep it alive.
why is it a good thing to be this resilient, this "emotionally strong" (aka emotionally stunted)? why is this something to be praised? what/who benefits from being able to brush off emotional pain? because it's certainly not the person who's expected to portray this resiliency, who's expected to be "well adjusted". to be resilient in our current world means to stifle your innate understanding that we are being harmed by society on a broader scale than just your individual grievances. to be resilient is to push through the incorrectly given diagnoses of mental illness(es) when often the issue isn't actually rooted in a disorder of the mind, but is instead rooted in a disorder of society & shouldn't be pathologized.
in my php/iop after rehab i briefly brought this concept up because the therapists, with good intentions, kept praising everyone for "the resiliency being shown through our early sobriety" & they pretty much ignored me. the entire purpose of the Recovery Industry is to "fix" us broken addicts and return us back to being productive members of society, i.e. workers to exploit for capitalism's gain, while also monetizing our recovery itself. whether or not they actually do intend to "fix" us or keep us cycling through their doors is another conversation, but their general statement of intent relies on "fixing" us. so for me to question distress tolerance being so admirable when it's such a cornerstone of recovery not just from addiction, but recovery from all mental health concerns, probably unsettled them & felt like a personal attack.
my point isn't that distress tolerance in and of itself is bad, though. even without capitalism there will always be stress, there will always be bad things that happen in this world and we do have to be able to move past them to some degree and deal with it. but we also don't have to prioritize shoving down our emotions, shoving down our reactions to this distress, for the sake of appearing "better adjusted" to the society that caused the distress in the first place.

Which programming language performs better on the web, Java, C#, PHP, or Python?
The performance of a programming language on the web depends on various factors such as the specific requirements of the project, the expertise of the development team, and the scalability of the language. Each programming language you mentioned—Java, C#, PHP, and Python—has its strengths and use cases:
Java: Known for its performance, scalability, and security, Java is widely used in enterprise-level web applications, especially for large-scale projects. It's commonly used in backend development and is favored for its robustness and ability to handle high loads.
C#: Similar to Java, C# is often used in enterprise-level web development, particularly for building applications on the Microsoft .NET framework. It offers strong performance and is well-suited for Windows-based environments.
PHP: PHP is a server-side scripting language specifically designed for web development. It's known for its simplicity, ease of use, and extensive community support. PHP powers a large portion of the web, particularly in content management systems like WordPress and e-commerce platforms like Magento.
Python: Python is a versatile language that is gaining popularity in web development due to its simplicity, readability, and extensive libraries. It's commonly used in web frameworks like Django and Flask, making it suitable for building web applications of various scales.
Ultimately, the best programming language for web development depends on the specific requirements of your project, the preferences of your development team, and the goals of your business. Each language has its advantages and trade-offs, so it's essential to evaluate them based on your project's needs.

Let’s finish this!
Here we are folks. The last Prehistoric Planet episode as of May 2023. The current end of the line for the time being, and an episode not like any before. I mean, given how there were quite a few episode ideas to use from Planet Earth, an episode on Plains would’ve made more sense. I’m not against the idea of a PHP episode based around an entire continent, but North America being here… feels odd. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good time to behold, but it’s got so many fans scratching their heads. While I stand on the whole opinion that something like “Plains” would've fit better, it sort of makes sense. Given that most of the biomes used in Planet Earth and its sequel have been used for the previous 9 episodes, there aren’t that many compatible habitats left for PHP to use. Mountains and jungles aren;t really good places for preserving fossils like the other habitats, not alot is known about caves from the end of the Cretaceous, and it should be obvious that cities aren’t an opinion here. So it makes sense that the series is starting to go with other themes for its episodes at this point.
With all of that said, the question remains? What did I think about this last episode? Does it do a good job to close out the season? Stick around and find out, as we cap off the second tour of Maastrichtian Earth with NORTH AMERICA.
Think of the seagulls that normally pester you for fries… and then scale them up to the size of a giraffe. That’s basically what this poor guy has to go through.
The opening scene starts with a herd of Alamosaurus, which were not only the largest animals on the entire continent, but also the only species of titanosaurs there as well. As the herd plods down the beach, the focus is on a 70-year old male, straggling behind a bit. As the others carry on, the old male slowly lays down on the beach, with his rather long life coming to a peaceful end…
…As you can tell, what happened next, along with the resulting reaction from the fandom was anything but peaceful. The next day, the dead Alamosaurus attracts predators from all walks from life. From a trio of troodontids struggling to pierce through the sauropod’s thick skin, to a T. Rex who spooks the former off and easily gorges into the free meal, right to a pair of Quetzalcoatlus, who then harass and force the poor T. Rex into leaving, after pecking and honking at the guy. Alot of people got a bit uppity about this scene, as they felt that something like this wouldn’t be natural. However, looking at the mannerisms of both parties helps get a better understanding of what happens here. The first Quetzalcoaltus was hesitant on grabbing a bite from the caress while the T. Rex was present. It’s only with the second Quetz that things start to shift in their favor. Using their lighter frames, the two azhdarchids go on the offense, mobbing and harassing the T. Rex, while pecking and honking right on the theropod. That’s something that I frankly love about the PHP Quetz; Alongside their accurate mannerisms and appearance, the species gets a deep, booming HONK. Think of this entire kerfuffle like someone getting harassed by seagulls for some fries… with the main difference being that these gulls are the size of giraffes, and can easily swallow you whole if they fancy you as a snack
Calamari, only with the shell
Diving back into the sea for our second segment, the focus is centered on the first-ever appearance of Globidens in media. Unlike the other mosasaurs in this series, Globidens, with its name literally meaning “Globe teeth”, had rounder and blunter teeth, which was a very good tool in hunting hard-shelled prey, including the other animal of the scene; Sphenodiscus. They were a species of ammonites that were very common during this time. I even have an entire fossil of one of these creatures!

Got this lil’ beauty from a fossil shop almost five years ago
As for while the Sphenodiscus are getting themselves in the hungry eyes of the Globidens? Well, while you have eggs to place in the shallows, you gotta get in the way of predators to lay down the groundwork for the next generation. An interesting note to bring up is how the Globidens doesn’t initially eat each Sphenodiscus he catches after biting through their shells, causing them to sink to the seafloor. The goal here is to have himself a good amount of easy food to snack on in peace, even with how they only represent a tiny amount of the entire school. It helps to show how mosasaurs can be pretty clever animals, similar to how modern-day monitor lizards are very intelligent for reptiles.
Seriously, how did they not add in the fact that birds ARE dinosaurs in a scene with a non-avian dinosaur AND birds?
Going back on dry land, the episode then cuts to a large lake, cut off from nearby rivers. Due to this isolation, along with the water getting toxic due to dissolving minerals, living here can be a bit risky, unless you’re either a brine fly, or a “Styginetta”, which was an informed relative of ducks. The other major animals of the segment are a family of Pectinidon. On the hunt for some food, the chicks playfully run around for flies, with some running face-first into a whole bunch of them in a very similar manner to the Cryptile from The Future is Wild. Their father, however, has a much meatier prize in mind. The male then runs after the flock of “Styginetta” catching one of the birds in mid-air. The scene itself was good in its own right, but the only issue that I have is how it doesn’t bring up how birds are dinosaurs. Maybe they’re saving it for a later episode? I dunno.
Mess with the bull, and you get the horns
We then cut to a large forest, where groups of Triceratops gather for their mating rituals. The rules here are simple; If you’ve got very large horns, the chances of getting laid are easier. And one of the males involved got’s some pretty impressive horns, a bit longer than most of the others. However, there are two issues that he has to face.
The females notice that the horns lack any wear or tear, which means that male lack any experience.
There’s literally an older male here who has horns EVEN BIGGER THAN THAT.
As many folks have pointed out ever since the trailer for Season 2 came out, the older male and his horns are based on Yoshi’s Trike, which is a specimen of Triceratops with horn cores that are nearly 4 feet long, which makes them the longest horns out of any Triceratops fossils found. And going back to the “horn core” thing, many scientists now speculate that, just like many animals alive today, dinosaurs must’ve had sheets of keratin covering over things like horns and claws. And if we’re going with that idea, it’s safe to assume that the horns of Yoshi’s Trike, as impressive as they are now, must’ve been even bigger when the animal itself was alive. And this goes for the older male, as his massive horns are a good way to see how he’s more of an experienced fighter than his younger rival, even having part of his frill gone by what I assume to be a T. Rex attack.
As you can probably imagine by this point, the first male loses, having a piece of one of his own horns be snapped off by the fight. However, this is a blessing in disguise, as the newly-gained battle scar means he’ll have a better chance of getting a mate next time.
A loving mother, and her family of walking fluffballs
The last segment of not just the whole episode, but the season in general, starts with the northern wilderness. For a female Nanuqsaurus, it’s not the cold that’s the hardest part, but it’s the lack of good hiding places to spring an ambush on a flock of unsuspecting Ornithomimus that makes things a kick to the face. While this isn’t like plenty of other hunting scenes in this show, it works as a reminder that most hunts throughout the history of life fail more often. If you were a 23-feet long predator with jaws powerful enough to crunch through bone, a good hiding spot is gonna be needed to catch some dinner. Our female, having to try again after her first attempt fails, uses some rocky outcrops to catch the Ornithomimus by surprise, eventually singling a lone member of the flock. One slip of ice later, and it’s all over for the ostrich mimic.
While a meal like this is a godsend for the Nanuqsaurus, she’s also got a bunch of adorable chicks to feed. While this was a bit of a weird way to end the season, it was still a good scene.
youtube
When you have a shield for a face, getting attention is gonna be alot easier than you’d think
And we’re at the last Uncovered segment of the reviews. Obviously, I don’t have alot to say about this one, but it’s nice that the Uncovered segments were added in at the end of each episode this time. I’m not sure if I’ve said this previously, but adding in behind-the-scenes segments at the end is common for the BBC’s Natural History Unit when it comes to their shows, it works here.
And with that… we’re done! We’re finally finished with Prehistoric Planet season 2! While it took me months to get to each episode, I had alot of fun with these reviews. As weird as the idea of this show getting a season 2 just a year after the first may seem weird, but you gotta remember; This entire project started back in 2019, and even before that, it’s been stated that the idea of the series itself came up more than a decade ago. While it could hypothetically take a few months into the new year to see if we’ll ever get Season 3, but if that happens, that whole “Maasrichtian trilogy” idea that I’ve been spouting off may actually come to pass! Only time will tell.
And as always, thanks to everyone who’s liked and read these silly ramblings of mine. Things like my other projects, life stuff getting in the way, and other such things have gotten in the way, but after more than 5 months, I’m happy to say that this safari tour is over. As for what I have planned next? I’m hoping to get a few more art pieces done before the year ends, and I have a few ideas for more articles in the same time frame. Obviously, my ideas for what PHP season 3 could be like are still in the works, as I’m hoping to have it released before the end of this month (As of me writing this). I also got some other ideas for consideration, like what I wanna see in my own dream idea for a Pokemon game, some more possible ideas for my Johnny Test reboot idea, and maybe even a sort of mini-retrospective on the much-mangled Walking with Dinosaurs movie from 2013, just in time for its 10th anniversary this December!
…Yeah, that film came out 10 years ago… God, I feel old.
ANYHOO! Thanks for reading, stay tuned for what I’ve got planned next, and keep on celebrating the legacy of our Prehistoric Planet
(Also, Happy Thanksgiving! Just don't let a T. Rex catch you when you're cooking that turkey, lest you end up as the turkey dinner)

JavaScript Frameworks
Step 1) Polyfill
Most JS frameworks started from a need to create polyfills. A Polyfill is a js script that add features to JavaScript that you expect to be standard across all web browsers. Before the modern era; browsers lacked standardization for many different features between HTML/JS/and CSS (and still do a bit if you're on the bleeding edge of the W3 standards)
Polyfill was how you ensured certain functions were available AND worked the same between browsers.
JQuery is an early Polyfill tool with a lot of extra features added that makes JS quicker and easier to type, and is still in use in most every website to date. This is the core standard of frameworks these days, but many are unhappy with it due to performance reasons AND because plain JS has incorporated many features that were once unique to JQuery.
JQuery still edges out, because of the very small amount of typing used to write a JQuery app vs plain JS; which saves on time and bandwidth for small-scale applications.
Many other frameworks even use JQuery as a base library.
Step 2) Encapsulated DOM
Storing data on an element Node starts becoming an issue when you're dealing with multiple elements simultaneously, and need to store data as close as possible to the DOMNode you just grabbed from your HTML, and probably don't want to have to search for it again.
Encapsulation allows you to store your data in an object right next to your element so they're not so far apart.
HTML added the "data-attributes" feature, but that's more of "loading off the hard drive instead of the Memory" situation, where it's convenient, but slow if you need to do it multiple times.
Encapsulation also allows for promise style coding, and functional coding. I forgot the exact terminology used, but it's where your scripting is designed around calling many different functions back-to-back instead of manipulating variables and doing loops manually.
Step 3) Optimization
Many frameworks do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to caching frequently used DOM calls, among other data tools, DOM traversal, and provides standardization for commonly used programming patterns so that you don't have to learn a new one Everytime you join a new project. (you will still have to learn a new one if you join a new project.)
These optimizations are to reduce reflowing/redrawing the page, and to reduce the plain JS calls that are performance reductive. A lot of these optimatizations done, however, I would suspect should just be built into the core JS engine.
(Yes I know it's vanilla JS, I don't know why plain is synonymous with Vanilla, but it feels weird to use vanilla instead of plain.)
Step 4) Custom Element and component development
This was a tool to put XML tags or custom HTML tags on Page that used specific rules to create controls that weren't inherent to the HTML standard. It also helped linked multiple input and other data components together so that the data is centrally located and easy to send from page to page or page to server.
Step 5) Back-end development
This actually started with frameworks like PHP, ASP, JSP, and eventually resulted in Node.JS. these were ways to dynamically generate a webpage on the server in order to host it to the user. (I have not seen a truly dynamic webpage to this day, however, and I suspect a lot of the optimization work is actually being lost simply by programmers being over reliant on frameworks doing the work for them. I have made this mistake. That's how I know.)
The backend then becomes disjointed from front-end development because of the multitude of different languages, hence Node.JS. which creates a way to do server-side scripting in the same JavaScript that front-end developers were more familiar with.
React.JS and Angular 2.0 are more of back end frameworks used to generate dynamic web-page without relying on the User environment to perform secure transactions.
Step 6) use "Framework" as a catch-all while meaning none of these;
Polyfill isn't really needed as much anymore unless your target demographic is an impoverished nation using hack-ware and windows 95 PCs. (And even then, they could possible install Linux which can use modern lightweight browsers...)
Encapsulation is still needed, as well as libraries that perform commonly used calculations and tasks, I would argue that libraries aren't going anywhere. I would also argue that some frameworks are just bloat ware.
One Framework I was researching ( I won't name names here) was simply a remapping of commands from a Canvas Context to an encapsulated element, and nothing more. There was literally more comments than code. And by more comments, I mean several pages of documentation per 3 lines of code.
Custom Components go hand in hand with encapsulation, but I suspect that there's a bit more than is necessary with these pieces of frameworks, especially on the front end. Tho... If it saves a lot of repetition, who am I to complain?
Back-end development is where things get hairy, everything communicates through HTTP and on the front end the AJAX interface. On the back end? There's two ways data is given, either through a non-html returning web call, *or* through functions that do a lot of heavy lifting for you already.
Which obfuscates how the data is used.
But I haven't really found a bad use of either method. But again; I suspect many things about performance impacts that I can't prove. Specifically because the tools in use are already widely accepted and used.
But since I'm a lightweight reductionist when it comes to coding. (Except when I'm not because use-cases exist) I can't help but think most every framework work, both front-end and Back-end suffers from a lot of bloat.
And that bloat makes it hard to select which framework would be the match for the project you're working on. And because of that; you could find yourself at the tail end of a development cycle realizing; You're going to have to maintain this as is, in the exact wrong solution that does not fit the scope of the project in anyway.
Well. That's what junior developers are for anyway...

CAKE PHP DEVELOPMENT

What is CakePHP?
CakePHP is an open-source web framework written in PHP scripting language for web development based on the core PHP framework and MVC architecture. MVC architecture mostly Centre on model, view, and controller of the specific project to give logical separation of code from the end user.
CakePHP was created by Michal Tatarynowicz in April Year 2005. The framework gives a strong base for your application. It can hold each aspect, from the user’s beginning request all the way to the final supply of a web page.
And since the framework follows the fundamental of MVC, it permits you to simply customize and expand most aspects of your application.
The CakePHP also gives a simple organizational structure, from filenames to database table names, keeping your whole application constant and logical. This concept is easy but impressive. Go around with the protocol and you’ll always know absolutely where things are and how they’re arranged.
Here’s a quick list of CakePHP features such as:
It follows MVC architecture
Rapid development
Application scaffolding
Active, friendly community
