request: Reader being Jason’s camerawoman until he finds a new one smut🫶🫶
jason = orange
reader = pink
warnings: p in v, some fluff, little swearing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you had been jason’s camerawoman for months—dragged across cities and states, filming faze shoots, chaotic prank wars, and everything in between. whatever he needed, you filmed. long days, sleepless nights, barely any breaks. and just when you thought things couldn’t get crazier, the subathon started.
you had high hopes for the subathon. it wasn’t just another stream—it felt bigger than that. something about it felt important, like it could be a turning point. the announcement had already gone up on socials: bold graphics, perfectly timed teaser, the whole internet buzzing with speculation.
faze’s name was trending for the first time in a long time, and this time, not because of drama.
everyone was excited. chat was filled with countdowns, theories, people already calling it “the comeback.” even people who swore they were over faze were watching, lurking in the replies, trying to act like they weren’t interested.
deep down, you knew why this mattered so much. faze had taken hit after hit the past year—people leaving, bad headlines, messy shifts in leadership. people said faze was “ruined,” “done for,” “not what it used to be.” but this? this was different.
this was everyone—the new, some old, the ones who never left—coming together for something real.
and for once, it didn’t feel forced.
it was two days before the subathon when your phone lit up—jason’s name flashing across the screen.
you picked up without hesitation.
“hey,” you answered, tucking the phone between your shoulder and ear while scrolling through your notes for last-minute prep.
“can you come over?” his voice was steady, but there was a weird tension under it. not stressed, exactly. more like… serious.
“uh, yeah. is it about the gear?” you asked, already assuming it had to be something tech-related. maybe a camera issue or something with the stream layout—jason always liked double and triple checking things. understandable, considering the scale of what you all were about to pull off.
“just wanna go over a few things. in person,” he said.
you didn’t think twice about it.
thirty days of non-stop streaming—this wasn’t something you could half-ass. everything had to be airtight. from internet redundancy plans, to camera switchers, to sleep cam angles, to audio setups for 4 a.m. kitchen conversations—jason had been on top of all of it. if he wanted to talk, it probably meant he found something that needed fixing before things went live.
you grabbed your keys and headed out, the whole time mentally running through checklists, already rehearsing how you’d convince the others to approve any last-minute changes.
but something about the way he said it…
something about the tone in his voice…
you couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t just about cameras.
you pulled into the driveway, your car tires crunching lightly over the pavement as you slowed to a stop. the first thing you noticed—jason’s car was the only one there. the driveway, usually packed with faze’s chaotic rotation of supercars, was empty.
that alone made your stomach twist a little. it was weird—off.
you grabbed your bag, stepped out, and made your way around the side of the house. instinctively, you headed for the glass door near the garage, the one that led straight into jason’s room. it had always been the quietest entrance, the one you used when things were lowkey or late.
you pulled the door open slowly, stepping inside.
“hi jay!” you called out, voice light as you closed the door behind you.
jason was laying across his bed in grey sweatpants, one arm propped under his head, the other holding his phone above him as he aimlessly scrolled. the glow from the screen lit up the soft features of his face—relaxed, casual, but distant in a way that didn’t sit right.
as soon as he heard your voice, he sat up straight. his phone dropped onto the bed beside him, forgotten.
“hey,” he said, his voice quieter than usual, but still familiar.
his eyes met yours, and for a second it was just… silence. the kind that hung heavy between two people who knew each other a little too well.
you dropped your bag on the floor near his desk and walked a little closer, taking in the scene—unplugged camera gear still in its case, a half-eaten bowl of cereal on the nightstand, the door cracked slightly just enough to let in the breeze.
“so… what’s up?” you asked, trying to keep your tone easy, teasing even. “you call me over and don’t even have the tripod out? shocking.”
he let out a soft breath, almost a laugh, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
“it’s not about the stream,” he said after a beat, his fingers fidgeting with the hem of his hoodie. “well… not really.”
you raised a brow, heart starting to pick up as you crossed your arms slowly.
“then what is it about?”
he looked at you for a long second—like he was still debating whether or not to say what he’d been thinking for god knows how long. and suddenly, the weight of the empty driveway, the call asking you to come alone, the silence in the house—it all made sense.
this wasn’t about camera tech.
it was about you.
and him.
and something that had been building quietly in the background for a while now.
“i found a cameraman,” he said, straight up. no pause, no sugarcoating—just those four words, tossed into the air like they didn’t carry weight.
you blinked, caught off guard for a second.
“oh,” you said, your voice catching slightly, softer than you meant it to be. “well… that’s good, jason.”
you didn’t want to sound hurt. and you weren’t mad exactly—just a little winded. like someone had knocked the air out of your lungs without meaning to.
you nodded once, trying to play it cool, even though something sank a little low in your chest. you had been so sure you’d be part of this—setting up shots with him, staying up all night in the chaos, fixing gear mid-stream, laughing with the others between takes. it wasn’t just about holding a camera. it was being part of it. with him.
he looked at you carefully, the way someone does when they already know they’ve disappointed you but they’re not sure if they should keep going or stop right there.
you could tell.
you knew that wasn’t the only reason he called you over.
the room felt quiet again, the hum of his fan filling the space between your inhale and his exhale.
you looked at him, your voice even lower now.
“that’s not why you asked me to come, is it?”
he looked down at his lap, thumb rubbing at a loose thread in the seam of his sweatpants. and then slowly, he shook his head.
“no,” he admitted.
your heart picked up.
he glanced up again, eyes meeting yours—and this time, the look in them was different. not casual. not friend-to-friend.
“i didn’t know how to say it,” he mumbled, voice quiet but honest. “and i didn’t wanna say it over the phone, ‘cause… i don’t know. it felt like one of those things you say in person.”
you didn’t move. just waited.
“you’ve been around for everything,” he said, a little more steady now. “and i didn’t even realize how much that mattered to me until i thought about doing this subathon without you. and it didn’t feel right.”
his voice cracked just slightly.
“it’s not just about cameras. i didn’t call you over to talk about setups. i just… i missed you.”
your breath hitched.
he was looking at you like he was scared you’d walk away. like the words had been stuck in his throat for weeks.
and suddenly, this quiet moment in his room—his grey sweats, the soft lighting, the cracked window letting in the early evening breeze—it all felt heavier. softer.
different.
and he waited. for you to say something. for anything.
“what do you mean, jay?” you asked, letting out a small laugh, trying to keep it light even though your chest felt tight. “i’ve seen you every day for almost two years.”
you smiled like it was a joke. like he didn’t just say something that made your heart stop.
but he didn’t laugh back.
“no, y/n,” he said firmly, his tone serious, eyes locked on yours.
you swallowed, shoulders stiffening just a little.
“i miss the bond we had before all this streaming shit,” he admitted, voice lower now. more vulnerable. “before everything got so busy, so loud. before we had to act like everything was just content.”
you didn’t say anything. you couldn’t.
he exhaled sharply, like he’d been holding his breath.
“i have feelings for you, y/n.”
just like that. said out loud. like he couldn’t keep it in anymore.
your mind went blank for a second.
you felt your heart racing in your chest, the silence of the room suddenly louder than ever.
you’d always had feelings for jason. from the beginning, really. the late nights editing in his room, the long drives with music playing too loud, the way he looked out for you even when he pretended not to care—it was always there.
he was more than just a friend. he was home. safe. and so painfully handsome when he wasn’t even trying.
and now…
“i wanna extend our relationship,” he said, leaning forward on the edge of his bed, his elbows on his knees. “i don’t want you to just be my camerawoman for the rest of our lives.”
you looked at him, eyes wide.
“i want more. i want you.”
his voice cracked again, and that was it.
no jokes. no sarcasm. just truth, raw and real, hanging in the air between you like a live wire.
and you had no idea how long you’d been waiting to hear that.
you stood there for a second, frozen, your hands clenched lightly at your sides, heart pounding so loud you were scared he could hear it.
“you want me?” you repeated, voice barely above a whisper.
he nodded, slow and certain, his eyes never leaving yours. “yeah. i do.”
you swallowed hard. “jason… i’ve wanted you too. for a long time.” your voice trembled a little, but the second you said it, it felt like a weight lifted off your chest.
his face softened—relief flashing across it so quickly it made your stomach flutter. he stood up slowly from the bed, like he didn’t want to startle you, like he wasn’t sure if he could really touch you yet. like he was waiting for you to come the rest of the way.
you did.
your feet moved on their own, closing the space between you until you were standing right in front of him. your fingers brushed against his hoodie, and he looked down at you, his brows pulled together like he still didn’t believe this was happening.
“can i kiss you?” he asked quietly, voice rough and soft at the same time.
you nodded.
he leaned in, so slowly it was almost painful, one hand coming up to cup your jaw as his thumb brushed gently over your cheek. your eyes fluttered closed just as his lips pressed to yours.
it wasn’t rushed, it wasn’t messy—it was soft, like a secret finally being spoken.
his mouth moved against yours like he meant every word he didn’t say out loud. warm. gentle. sure.
your fingers gripped the front of his hoodie, pulling him a little closer, and he let out the softest sound against your lips—like he’d been holding that in for months.
he kissed you deeper, his other hand sliding around your waist like he couldn’t stand the idea of not touching you, like he needed you closer. the air around you felt heavier now, thicker with something electric.
when he finally pulled back, both of you a little breathless, his forehead rested against yours.
“you have no idea how long i’ve wanted to do that,” he murmured.
you smiled, eyes still closed, your hand gently tugging at his hoodie.
“well,” you whispered, “you’re not done yet… right?”
his grin returned—slow, crooked, and so him.
“not even close.”
his hands didn’t leave you after that kiss. they stayed, one still cupped gently around your jaw, the other holding your waist like he was scared you might disappear if he let go.
you leaned into him, your chest brushing his as the heat between you started to shift—something softer turning heavier, more electric. your breath was shallow, and he noticed.
“y/n…” he murmured against your lips, voice low, barely there.
“mhm?” you answered, eyes still half-lidded, your fingers now trailing slowly up his chest.
“if you want me to stop…” he began, but you cut him off with another kiss—needier this time, deeper.
“don’t,” you whispered, pulling him with you as you stepped backward until the backs of your knees hit the edge of his bed.
he exhaled sharply, like your words knocked the breath out of him. his hands found your hips, guiding you gently down onto the mattress, hovering above you, eyes searching yours like he needed to be absolutely sure.
you reached up, brushing your fingers through his hair. “i’m sure, jay.”
and that was all he needed.
he kissed you again, slower this time—messier, more urgent. his hoodie came off first, then yours. his hands roamed your sides, your thighs, your waist—everywhere, like he was making up for all the time he spent pretending he didn’t want you like this.
his lips were soft against yours, slow but deep—each kiss laced with the kind of tension that had been building for way too long. his hands moved up your sides, fingers slipping beneath your shirt as he pressed closer, the room quiet except for the sound of your breaths mixing.
you let out a soft gasp when his palms cupped your chest through the fabric, thumbs brushing over the sensitive peaks. he pulled back slightly, eyes meeting yours, checking—always checking.
you nodded, whispering his name, and that was all he needed.
his mouth found your neck, kissing lower, slower, while his hands explored every inch of you like he was trying to learn you from memory. your fingers gripped his back, feeling the way his muscles moved under your touch.
you shifted, and that’s when you felt it—his growing length pressing against your thigh, the heat between you getting heavier, hotter. it made your breath hitch, your thighs instinctively pressing together.
“you’re driving me insane,” he murmured against your skin, his voice low and rough.
you arched into him, pulling him closer, needing more—needing him.
he kissed you again, deeper now, and the way your bodies molded together, how your clothes felt like too much, too heavy—it was all building to something inevitable.
his hand slipped beneath the hem of your shirt, skin to skin, and you sighed softly into his mouth, your hands tangled in his hair.
he let out a quiet moan, breath catching as you gently pulled his head back by his hair, exposing the curve of his neck. his eyes fluttered shut for a moment, like your touch alone was unraveling him. the tension between you was electric—hot and slow-burning.
his hands slid back to the hem of your shirt, and this time he pulled it over your head completely, tossing it to the side before his fingers moved with quiet care to unclip your bra. it fell away, and he just paused—his gaze roaming over you, warm and reverent.
“you’re beautiful, y/n,” he whispered, like he needed you to know it. like he couldn’t believe you were really his right now.
you felt your breath catch, the way he was looking at you making your skin burn in the best way. no cameras, no jokes—just the weight of his admiration soaking into your skin.
you reached for the edge of his shirt, tugging it lightly. “take yours off too,” you murmured.
he didn’t hesitate. he peeled it off in one smooth motion, the fabric slipping over his toned chest and falling somewhere behind him. your eyes traced the lines of him—his collarbones, his chest, his stomach—all familiar from the late-night editing sessions, but never like this. never so close. never so yours.
his hands returned to your waist, grounding you both in the moment. he leaned in again, kissing you deeper, skin to skin now, and everything felt heavier, warmer, slower.
“tell me if you want to stop,” he whispered into your mouth. his voice was a little breathless now, like he was holding back just for you.
but you shook your head gently, threading your fingers through his hair again, pulling him back into another kiss—because you didn’t want to stop.
he moved slowly, his hips pressing against yours in a soft, steady rhythm, letting you feel exactly how much he wanted you. the heat between your bodies was overwhelming now, his skin against yours, every movement sending little sparks of need through you.
your breath hitched as he grinded against you again, firmer this time, and a quiet moan escaped your lips before you could stop it. you arched into him, hands gripping at his back, your voice a soft whisper against his ear.
“jason… please,” you breathed, barely able to think with the way his body felt on top of yours. “do something…”
he pulled back just enough to look into your eyes, his own dark and full of something between hunger and adoration.
“you have no idea what you do to me,” he murmured, brushing his nose against yours before kissing you again—slower, deeper, full of unspoken promise.
his hand slid down your side, anchoring you to the bed as he kept his hips pressed firmly against yours, teasing, drawing it out like he wanted to memorize every single sound he pulled from you.
as his hands moved slowly, deliberately, sliding from your waist down to the button of your jeans. he undid them with ease, his eyes locked on yours the entire time—watching, waiting, making sure you were still with him.
he eased the denim down your legs, tossing it aside before his fingers ghosted over the thin fabric of your panties, where the heat and wetness had already soaked through. his touch was barely there, but it sent a full-body shiver through you.
his eyes darkened as he pressed just a little more firmly, feeling everything you were holding back for him.
“fuck,” he breathed out, almost in disbelief. “all this for me?”
you bit your lip, nodding, too breathless to say anything.
he dragged his fingers slowly up over the fabric, then brought them to his face, eyes flicking between you and the slick on his skin like he couldn’t believe it.
he grinned—soft, crooked, and full of heat.
“you’re killing me, y/n,” he whispered, leaning back down to kiss you again, his hands already finding their way back to your thighs, sliding between them with even more intention this time.
the kisses deepened, slower now but full of fire, every touch and breath meaning more than words could say. his body pressed into yours like he belonged there—like he knew he did.
he pulled back slightly, breathless and flushed, reaching down to slide his grey sweatpants off. the fabric pooled at his feet, leaving him in just his boxers—your eyes dropping instinctively to the heavy outline pressed against the fabric.
you swallowed, heart racing a little harder.
he was big.
even through the boxers, there was no denying it. the sight alone made your thighs press together, heat blooming low in your stomach.
he noticed the way your eyes lingered, the way you shifted slightly beneath him, and his lips curved into the smallest smirk.
“you okay?” he asked softly, leaning down to kiss your cheek, your jaw, the corner of your mouth.
you nodded, your voice barely a whisper. “yeah… just didn’t know you were hiding that all this time.”
he chuckled against your skin, breath warm and shaky. “wasn’t trying to hide it. just… waiting for the right moment.”
his hand slipped over your hip, brushing against the edge of your panties, his voice dropping even lower. “and this… definitely feels like the right moment.”
your hands found his shoulders, pulling him back down, your lips catching his again—deeper now, hungrier, as the air between you burned with everything unsaid.
your bodies moved in sync, slow and deliberate, the world blurring around you. every touch, every look, every breath—it all said the same thing:
his fingers hooked gently into the sides of your panties, tugging them down with a slow, practiced ease—never once breaking the kiss. the cool air hit your now bare skin, making you shiver slightly, but his warmth remained pressed close to you, grounding you.
he shifted just enough to slide his own boxers down and off, the tension between you rising with every passing second. then he paused, hovering above you, his gaze locking with yours.
he looked into your eyes like this was more than just physical—like this was a memory he needed to burn into his mind forever.
his voice was soft, low, breathless.
“you sure?”
you nodded, your hand gently brushing his cheek. “i want this, jason… i want you.”
something changed in his eyes then—something deeper, tender, like your words meant more than you’d ever know.
he shifted closer, lining himself up with you, never breaking eye contact. his hand slipped into yours, fingers intertwining as if grounding both of you in the moment.
as he slowly began to push forward, he watched you—watched the way your lips parted, your brows drew together slightly, how you melted beneath his touch.
you were everything he wanted. everything he didn’t know he needed.
and the way you looked beneath him, vulnerable but sure, undone but safe—
he’d never forget it.
he stayed still once he was fully inside you, his forehead resting lightly against yours as he let you breathe, let you adjust.
his hand found yours again, bringing it gently to his lips. he kissed your knuckles softly, over and over, like he was trying to say everything he couldn’t put into words.
you gave him a small nod, whispering, “it’s okay… you can move now.”
his breath hitched just a little as he pulled back, slow and careful, before pressing back in—deep, steady, and tender.
his strokes were long and controlled, each one deliberate. he kept his eyes on your face the entire time, watching every reaction, every little shift of your expression. the way your mouth parted, the way your brows knit together, the way you whimpered his name so softly—he soaked it all in.
“you feel so good,” he murmured, voice rough with emotion and need, “so perfect…”
he leaned down to kiss you again, slower this time, like he wanted to remind you this was more than just lust—it was something deeper. something real.
the rhythm stayed unhurried, intimate—his body moving with yours, his touch never leaving your skin.
you held onto him like he was the only thing grounding you, and in a way, he was.
the room faded into nothing but the soft creak of the bed, the quiet sound of your breathing mixing with his, and the soft words exchanged between kisses—promises, confessions, everything you’d both been holding back.
once he felt your body relax beneath him, your breath steady and your fingers digging softly into his back, he let himself go just a little more—his pace picking up, strokes deeper now, more fluid.
but still gentle. still with you every second.
his eyes never left your face, watching the way you gasped, the way your lips parted with every movement, the way you whimpered his name like it was the only word you knew.
he was in awe—completely and utterly taken by you.
“you’re so perfect,” he breathed out, barely holding himself together. “i don’t ever wanna let this go.”
and he didn’t just mean the moment.
he meant you.
this wasn’t about just being close—it was about everything you meant to him. all the quiet nights editing beside each other, the way you laughed at his dumb jokes, the way your hand always found his shoulder when you passed him by.
he wanted it all. the chaos, the quiet, the in-between.
and as your moans grew louder, more desperate, your body meeting his rhythm with ease, he kissed your shoulder, your collarbone, your cheek—anything he could reach.
his fingers moved in slow circles, slick and steady as he rubbed your clit, spreading your arousal around with practiced ease. the way he slipped in and out of you, deep and controlled, combined with his fingers working your most sensitive spot, had your breath catching in your throat.
your stomach tightened, that familiar coil of pleasure winding up inside you—hot and insistent. it was building fast, and you couldn’t stop the way your hips moved with his, chasing that feeling like you needed it.
your hands gripped his biceps, nails pressing into his skin as low, needy moans escaped your lips.
“that’s it,” jason murmured, his voice deep and wrecked, “just like that, baby…”
he watched you so closely, completely focused on every sound you made, every twitch of your body under his. the way your mouth fell open, the way your eyes fluttered, the way your thighs trembled—it was all driving him crazy.
his pace stayed steady but purposeful, each thrust a little deeper, each rub of his fingers more precise. you were close—he could feel it. and so was he.
you clung to him, breathless, your whole body tightening with that unbearable pressure.
you were right there, teetering on the edge together—just one moment away from falling
his hands slid back up your body, one finding its way to your chest again, cupping you gently, the other anchoring at your waist. his thumbs brushed softly over your skin, adding just enough pressure to drive you wild, matching the rhythm of his deepening thrusts.
you moaned out his name, breathless, again and again—like it was the only thing keeping you grounded.
“faster,” you whispered, voice shaky but sure, “please, jason…”
he didn’t hesitate. he gripped your hips, pulling you closer as his pace picked up, still keeping that careful control, but now driven by the way you moved under him—the way your eyes fluttered shut, your nails then dug into his back, your body tightening around him.
“you’re so close,” he murmured, voice rough with want, “i can feel it…”
his words, his hands, the way he moved with you—it all built together, higher and higher.
he was close too. you could feel it in the way his breath hitched, the way his movements got just a little less controlled, his grip on your hips a little firmer.
“look at me,” he whispered, voice shaky. “i wanna see you when you let go.”
your eyes locked with his, and everything else disappeared—the room, the time, everything. it was just you and him, on the edge of something so intense and raw it made your chest ache.
and together, in that tangle of limbs and breath and unspoken words, you both unraveled.
he pulled put of you slowly, his breath was shallow, erratic, as he leaned down to kiss you—softly, tenderly, as if this moment needed to be savored. his movements slowed just slightly, allowing you both a brief respite, your bodies still tangled together, skin pressed close. he pulled back to look at you, his gaze filled with a softness that contrasted the intensity of just moments before.
“you’re perfect,” he whispered, his voice warm and full of admiration, “absolutely perfect.”
you smiled faintly, your fingers tracing his jawline, memorizing the feel of him beneath your touch. “so are you, jason.” your voice was soft, breathless but full of affection.
he stayed close, not wanting to move too far, his hand gently resting on your side, as if he were holding you in the moment.
and for a while, neither of you said anything—just basked in the quiet of the room, the warmth between you both, and the shared understanding that, despite everything, this was what mattered most.
you had each other.
and that, in itself, was enough.

May 2025.
I tried installing a set of themes on Ubuntu MATE 24.04.1 LTS in Distrosea today.
https://distrosea.com/
These themes are provided as a theme package found in vanilla MATE desktops such as Debian and Fedora.
MATE is the modern day continuation of GNOME 2, a very popular, efficient and functional desktop environment from the early 2000s.
The theme pack I selected are compactable GTK3/4 (Graphical Toolkit) versions based on classic GNOME 2 era themes.
Ubuntu MATE website:
https://ubuntu-mate.org/
Debian Linux website:
https://www.debian.org/
Fedora Linux website:
https://fedoraproject.org/spins/mate
See MATE Desktop website here:
https://mate-desktop.org/blog/
About the Graphical Toolkit user interface:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTK
I used the MATE Tweak tool to adjust the panels from the 'familiar' layout to the 'traditional' layout. Here are many of the layouts available.
MATE Tweak can change the panel layout between Traditional (GNOME 2), Unity, Redmond (Windows) contemporary (Mac OS) style.
Here are many of the layouts available.
Afterwards, I used the command line to install the themes with the command: sudo apt install mate-themes.
This command then prompted me to agree the system changes and then it installed the required theme files to the list.
I opened up the theme folder in the Caja file manager. This shows all the ones installed on the system.
Next I opened the appearance preferences and cycled through each theme. There are a total of 12 new themes it added alongside the existing Yaru Colour theme collection for Ubuntu.
This package couldn't be installed graphical so this is why I installed it through the terminal. It is also available to install through the Software Manager on Linux Mint.
The theme package can also be installed on the Cinnamon desktop and other linux distributions.
I like these themes as they provide a more 3D feel and is refreshing to see themes for a desktop environment that hasn't moved towards flat design. It themes all the desktop elements from the windows, panels, drop down menus, CSD apps and widgets.
My favourite one is called YaruOK (blue), as it provides resizable window controls, 3D controls and provides a familiar look to the desktop. The theme is also called TraditionalOK.
This theme is a fork of a GTK2 theme called Clear-looks, which was created by Red Hat developers.
YaruOK is a modern variant that uses GTK3 & 4. The theme is rendered in SVG instead of PNG format which improves HiDpi scaling and features themed client side decorations for header bar windows such as the Disks utility.
I also added a GNOME Eyes widget onto the panel!
These fun set of eyes follow your mouse cursor around the screen and can help you find the cursor amongst the clutter of windows. It is built to be very lightweight.
I also like the workspace switcher on the bottom left, which allows you to switch between as many desktop workspaces as you want.
The little square windows within each desktop can be clicked on and moved to another workspace.
Like with other desktop environments, you can also right click a window and move it onto another workspace. Each desktop can be named for a assigned task.
A System Monitor widget can also be added to the panels to display CPU, Memory, Swap and Network processes.
There are many other very interesting widget to play around with on the desktop and panels as well!
Here are the MATE themes in Ubuntu Linux 24.04.1, integrating with the Cinnamon desktop.

Below are some theming screenshots from Debian MATE 12 Linux.
I've customised the panel, selected the compact menu and changed notification sizes to make it more clearer. The window lists stack onto each other with the increased size.
The MATE panels have adjustable transparency and can be re-coloured and textured very easily through its own preferences box.
See screenshots below!

A very interesting look at the user interface elements found in GNOME 2, MATE and Cinnamon Linux desktop environments!

My layout is still in the planning stage, but right now this is what I'm thinking:
Small, ~22x80" on one wall with a clamp on tail for a switching lead.
Setting: Vermont or Maine
Era: Between 1995 and the present
Industries: Feed mill and small transload facility
HO Scale
All turnouts #6
Track: Micro Engineering Code 70
Spacing between the main and sidings is 2.5" minimum.
Tumblr media
Motive power: 4 axle road switcher
Longest rolling stock: 73' centerbeam flats
Capacity:
Main and siding: Locomotive and 3 cars
Feed Mill siding: 4 cars (only two spotted at a time as they must be pushed through to unload)
Transload siding: 3 cars
Both turnouts will be facing point, cars will be shoved in from the detachable switching lead, switched, and then pulled out.
The feed mill is primarily based off of Phoenix Feeds in New Haven Junction, VT and Depot Farm Supply in Leicester, both on Vermont Railway's Rutland to Burlington trackage. I plan on scratchbuilding the southernmost part of the building and adding commercial grain bins next to it.
The transload facility will take the place of Phoenix Feeds' storage track. I'm planning on basing it off the one in Colfax, WI (44.9967, -91.7281). Off-spots for the feed mill will be stored there. Initially, I'm only planning on transloading lumber there (centerbeams and an occasional box or bulkhead flat), but later I may expand to plastic pellets, steel plate, and occasionally a single hopper of coal. I plan on having a couple mobile ramps for accessing boxcars and potentially mobile unloading racks and a mobile conveyor.
I plan on switching the feed mill twice a week so the primary traffic on the layout will be covered hoppers. Lumber will be delivered every other week or so. Other commodities TBD, but less often than the covered hoppers.
I know I could maximize operational interest by choosing other industries, but I have a soft spot for grain covered hoppers and centerbeams. I also considered replacing the transload facility with a lumberyard, but I think that would make things too crowded.

Khione is sooooo pretty. how did you get the body scales to work on her
thank you nonny! 💙
it's a body tattoo! i have a lot of tavs with different tattoos, so i use the Magic Mirror Menu (prev Body Tattoo Switcher) mod. in the optional files there's one named default body tattoo atlas, and it has the body scales as a tattoo option. it's tattoo #14 in the default template given. i use photoshop to make my own custom template for all the tattoos i use, so that i can use several different custom tattoos without having to switch from several different templates. the mod also allows you to change the color of your body tattoo and even make it metallic! hoping to eventually work on getting them raised off the skin. i know the UT page has a video explaining it, but i'll have to wait for when i have the patience to fight with game files lol.

Hello, prospective gender switcher! If you're here, it means you're interested in having a bit of a change. Maybe this has been a long time coming, something you've wanted to do forever. Maybe you just want to see what the other side of the street (or, depending on your lineage, any particular lane) is like!
To get to Brass Tax, you want to change your Physical Appearance, particularly your Sex. That's awesome! Today, we'll be going through the methods, operations, and specifics of this transformation! Helping us will be Thell Windertrot! Say Hi, Thell!
Tumblr media
Thell is an Alfr, just over the age of thirty six (around eighteen in Alfr years). She's been socially transitioned since she was twenty two, but now that she's out on her own and learning magic in Astieux University, she feels its finally time for her to under go a more permanent change.
First thing's first; Figuring Yourself Out
Tumblr media
Who are you, really?
If you're looking to get such a large scale change of both your social life and physical being, you'll want to be certain about it. These changes may not be permanent, but when you're dealing with real biomantical magic rather than simple illusion or different outfits, you'll come out exhausted both physically and emotionally. Repeated use of this kind of magic can be dangerous, as any magic can be.
Consider the changes you'll need to make in every day life. A change of any body part for another can change daily needs and wants. Think about your social life! Unlike certain worlds, the majority of Miran society sees no oddity at all with transgender individuals, but social stereotypes for the sexes still exist. It's always important to consider your entire life situation before going through with something like this.
Second thing's second! Methods.
Tumblr media
While modern medicine is quite adept at handling illnesses and life saving surgeries without magic (and preferably, since magic has its own shortcomings), changing an entire core aspect of your being is best done magically. Let's see what your options are;
Divine Blessing.
Tumblr media
The largest religion on Mira is Shianism. While Temperant Shians have a rarely conservative view on sex changing, Vertian and most other paths of Shianism do not!
Going through a divine sex change may require entreating the gods, requesting her holy light Audesoux and Saint Lehsda bless you with the miracle of a sex change. Then, a dignified Priestess of the gods may be able to invoke such a transformation on you, if the gods are willing.
This is the preferable way of the faithful. The request may not immediately be granted, it may in fact take years for Her Holy Light to give you what you request, after much prayer and sacrifice.
While this may seem a downside, it is merely another way to prove dedication and love and respect for one's religion and the saints themselves.
Thell isn't interested. She's been ready too long to be put on a waiting list, and wizards like her famously aren't very religious.
Primal Transformation
Tumblr media
The loosely organized druids of the natural world have their own ways of magically granting a sex change, but these methods are, at times, a bit strange.
Stereotypical though it may be, a person looking to change their physical sex through druidic magic can expect a lot of smoking, a lot of meditation, a lot of being naked in the woods, and generally accepting nature as part of your body (since it has to do a lot of construction work in there to get things done...)
This too requires dedication, but is a natural and relaxing way to allow the natural world itself to restructure you, taking back what it gave, and replacing it with what you've always wished for. To some, that's comforting. As though they were born again as what they truly feel themselves to be!
Thell doesn't like this either. She prefers to have an actual toilet with actual plumbing around, and has very bad pollen allergies...
Witchcraft Therapy
Tumblr media
Witches, as usual, prefer to not use magic for gender transformations. However, there are many potions and tinctures that do quite easily replace the hormones of a patient with that of their proper gender.
This gender affirming care comes along with, what cityfolk might call, 'therapy'. But witches prefer to just talk with their patients over tea. Psychological pushing, a little bit of showey sparkles, and real hormone replacement is the jist of witchcraft.
Thell has actually already done some of this. Her local witch back home would give her such potions, which is why she's already looking so fetching! It's a good preliminary, but... she wants a real permanent change...
Arcane Transmogrification
Tumblr media
The best and worst thing about arcane magic is its... literal-ness. When you use arcane magic, you are not relying on a god to translate your wish, or the primal spirits of nature to interpret your command, you are relying entirely on yourself. This is why wizardry has so much... math! You need to know exactly what you're doing to pull spells from the firmament.
Thankfully, Thell is a very very good wizard!
Thell has already read up on the options. And considers it simple to do this with a spell! All you need to do is tell the universe exactly what you want your body to be. And as you weave Chroma, the extraordinary energy that interlaces the world, from the air, your volition will change the universe to make it so!
Now this is where Arcanism puts its blocker. If you mess up a spell like this... it might not turn out great. Again, you need to KNOW what you want to happen!
Polymorph spells are particularly troublesome. Biological beings generally want to stay the shape they are, and more than that, want to keep inside from being on the outside.
When you cast a polymorph spell on an unwilling target, you first have to overcome the 'shape' barrier. You can convince a body to be a frog if you really focus on a frog and that person fails to resist, but you can't convince a body to be a pile of dead organs on the ground, no matter how hard you try.
But that's different with willing targets... meaning it's actually possible to put your organs on the outside if you make a really big mistake.
Thell needs to properly visualize herself, her new body, and so decides to try to sculpt one out of clay! Let's check in and-
Tumblr media
Uhm. Maybe a bit more modest there, Thell?
Tumblr media
And there! Thell has her sculpted model. She's been studying for works, modifying this spell word by word, diagram by diagram, to create her perfect body! Have anything else you'd like to say, Thell?
Tumblr media
It's thanks to her skillful modification and use of this spell on her very own body, soon she'll get an apprenticeship with a very powerful archmage! And will inevitably send her on an adventure that will change her life forever. (Check it out at Chromaverse.net if you'd like!)
I hope you've enjoyed taking a look at this magical process!

Bonnie & Connie - 3318
Bonnie reversed into the workshop slowly. He was tired, and his cylinder was still killing him. Beside him, he heard a strange noise. He looked over to see a little black box on wheels, humming with electricity. "My god does this place needs a switcher, did someone just drop a scale test car here for the kicks of it?" To his surprise, the box clicked, and then started to "speak", but it wasn't in its own voice. "No scale test car here, Mi Amigo." Bonnie was confused. The box started in a low, deep voice before repeating a recording of his own words back at him, then punctuated by a heavy Spanish accent. The box continued. "I am Three. Three. One. Eight." That was said in a computerized voice, before it continued in the voice of a shop worker. "Yeah, I rigged it up to record some of the sounds from around the shop and be able to mix them together. Figured if there's any life left in the thing, it at least deserves a voice." Bonnie was slightly impressed, but his aching cylinder killed any chance of him showing it. "Great, now i'm not even going to have any privacy while i'm here." "Skill. Issue." And the box buzzzed off, leaving Bonnie even more annoyed than before.

Keir Starmer has released an op-ed today for the Telegraph in which, in half a line he praises Margaret Thatcher (he also praises Blair and Attlee in the same paragraph) for changing the paradigm in which the UK operated.
Obviously, some have been up in arms about this ‘betrayal of the left’. But as they say the same every time Starmer so much as sneezes, their indignation has long since been drowned out by our indifference.
Twitter (No I don’t call it X and neither does anyone else) might be a bit skittish about it but most people who read the piece will see exactly what is happening here.
Essentially, to win elections - now bear with me here - you have to get more people to vote for you than for the other lot.
Sometimes that means fishing in the other guy’s pool. A Tory to Labour switcher counts double basically as it reduces their tally while increasing yours. It’s why well-meaning attempts to win over thrid party voters are usually naive in political strategy terms (With the exception of Scotland and Wales).
The front page of the Telegraph is a great way to find those voters. If you read the article, it sets out a narrative of Tory failures that is as deep as it is comprehensive. It could easily win over some wavering traditional Tories who are long past fed up. It could convince a few more to stay at home and sit on their hands safe in the knowledge that Starmer doesn’t scare them.
But to get that onto the front page? That’s where the Thatcher praise comes in. Starmer’s team will have known that in order to lift this from the swirl of political pieces it is not enough simply to write for the Telegraph, they had to put something eye-catching in there that would get people talking. And would give certain readers permission to be open to Starmer’s argument.
That it would also piss off the left might be seen as a bonus by some in Starmer’s team. That’s a shame I think as - frankly - they need to move on from that phase of Starmer’s three-point plan. But I am never going to win that battle sadly. Every LOTO ever will act factionally and interfere where they shouldn’t. That Starmer’s lot are more successful at it than most does not mean that others didn’t try.
So on those grounds, I have no real problem with Stamer invoking Thatcher.
Nor do I have a problem with him saying that he would like to make changes to the country that are on the scale of those that Thatcher made. We need wholesale change - not least to make up for the changes that she wrought and the long-term damage that still echoes today in our lack of housing - particularly social housing; in our filthy rivers and beaches which can be taken back in a straight line to privatisation of water; and in the austerity brought in by her acolytes as a response to an overmighty city that was started with her ‘big bang’ reforms.
Where I think Starmer has a problem is that this is not an article about having a vision as big as Thatcher’s on economic remodelling or Attlee’s on building the welfare state. In fact, the rest of the article is all about Tory failure and Labour Party reinvention. There is not nearly enough forward vision to claim to be a new Thatcher-level figure.
A while back I wrote the generous and ungenerous cases for Starmer’s approach. This is an extract from the generous part. You will see that I too invoke both Thatcher and Attlee:
Tumblr media
I return to this because I think in that piece I did make quite a good fist of setting out how Starmer can be a reforming Prime Minister in a time where high spending won’t be possible. But, here’s the thing. I’m a blogger. I am just an observer of politics. I don’t work for Starmer’s office. So why am I better linking that sense of being as reforming as Attlee or Thatcher to a sense of the future a Labour government could potentially offer than they are?
Sure, maybe I do have the shackles off. I don’t have to get anything past Pat McFadden. But nothing I wrote in that piece was about increasing spending. Instead, it’s about changing the machinery of Britain that we know to be broken.
At the start of the year, I offered Labour a simple slogan I still think they should take up as we go into a General Election year: Let’s Fix Britain. They don’t have to use that particular phrase (although my consultancy rates are VERY REASONABLE and I will explain to them exactly why they should) but they do need to give a sense of that renewal. That means not just talking about how bad the Tories have been or how much they have changed Labour but what the country will look like after five years under Starmer.
Why? Labour will almost certainly win the next election. But honestly, they don’t want to win by default. They need to make and keep promises that really will change this country. We need it.
If they don’t - the scariest thing of all is not that Starmer is invoking Thatcher - it’s that there isn’t a positive reason to vote Labour beyond “Not the Tories”. However mad the Tories are now, when they get their act together, Labour must have something to say for themselves.

Why Becoming a Franchise Owner Is the Smartest Career Move in 2025?
In 2025, India’s entrepreneurial landscape is evolving rapidly, and one of the most promising opportunities for professionals, investors, and aspiring entrepreneurs is becoming some franchise owner opportunities—especially in the education sector. With rising demand for quality learning, upskilling, and personalized education, education franchises are emerging as highly profitable, purpose-driven ventures.
If you’ve been looking to invest your savings, start your own business, or switch to a more rewarding career path, here’s why becoming a franchise owner in the education industry could be your smartest move this year.
Why Education Franchises Are Booming in 2025?
1. Massive Demand for Skill Development
India is home to over 600 million young people, many of whom are actively seeking better education, job-ready skills, and professional training. From coding and AI to communication skills and career coaching, the demand is exploding in both urban and Tier 2/3 markets.
2. Trust in Branded Learning
Parents and students prefer recognized education brands over local tuition centers. A franchise backed by a trusted name carries credibility, structured curriculum, and better outcomes—making it easier to attract students from day one.
3. Hybrid Learning Is the Future
Post-pandemic India has embraced a hybrid education model. Franchises that blend online and offline learning—like Boston Institute of Analytics—are thriving by offering flexible, accessible programs across cities and towns.
Benefits of Becoming an Education Franchise Owner
Becoming a franchise owner in the education space offers a unique mix of profitability, scalability, and social impact. Here’s what makes it such a compelling opportunity:
1. Low-Risk, Proven Business Model
Unlike starting a business from scratch, a franchise offers a pre-tested and proven model. You receive a ready-made brand identity, structured operations, and a track record of success.
Franchise owners typically get:
Training & onboarding
Marketing support
Curriculum and content
Ongoing mentorship
This significantly reduces the risk of business failure and fast-tracks your path to profitability.
2. High Return on Investment (ROI)
Education franchises often offer low upfront investment and high margins. With minimal inventory and recurring revenue from courses, tuition fees, and training programs, the ROI can be achieved within 12–18 months in many cases.
Example: A typical investment in a mid-range education franchise is ₹5–₹10 lakhs, and monthly earnings can range between ₹75,000 to ₹2 lakhs depending on your location and marketing efforts.
3. Scalable Business Opportunity
As a franchise owner, you can scale easily by opening additional centers, expanding online reach, or offering more courses. Most education franchisors support multi-unit expansion once the initial center becomes profitable.
Some owners go on to manage:
Multiple franchise locations
Online student networks
Corporate training partnerships
Government-funded skill programs
4. Recession-Proof and Future-Ready
Education is a recession-resilient sector. Even during economic downturns, people continue to invest in learning and development—especially to future-proof their careers with AI, digital marketing, data science, and language skills.
In 2025, courses in AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, and coding for kids are witnessing huge growth. Franchises offering these programs are in a prime position to benefit.
5. Social Impact and Purpose-Driven Work
As an education franchise owner, you’re not just running a business—you’re transforming lives. By enabling learning, empowering youth, and bridging the skill gap, your work has a lasting, positive impact on society.
This dual reward—profit with purpose—is what draws many professionals and career-switchers to the education sector.
Best Education Franchise Models for 2025
Here are a few education franchises that stand out in 2025, particularly for Tier 2 and Tier 3 city investors:
1. Boston Institute of Analytics (BIA)
Focus: Data science, AI, digital marketing, business analytics.
USP: Hybrid delivery model + global certifications.
Ideal For: Working professionals, educators, and entrepreneurs.
Franchise Owner Requirements: What You’ll Need
While prior experience is helpful, most education franchises do not require a teaching background. Here’s what typically helps:
Basic understanding of local education demand
A passion for student success
Willingness to follow brand guidelines
Small commercial space (if offering offline/hybrid)
Initial investment capacity (usually ₹2–₹15 lakhs)
Ideal Locations for Education Franchises in 2025
If you're considering becoming a franchise owner in 2025, the following cities are great hotspots:
Tier 2: Indore, Kochi, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Nagpur
Tier 3: Patna, Raipur, Mysuru, Bikaner, Guntur, Udaipur
These cities have a rising middle class, better internet access, and limited access to quality branded education—making them perfect for franchise success.
Tips for First-Time Franchise Owners
Research Your City: Understand the local demand and competition before choosing a franchise.
Talk to Existing Franchisees: Get real insights about profits, support, and challenges.
Choose Scalable Models: Pick franchises with online/offline options for long-term growth.
Follow the System: Stick to the brand’s proven model for faster results.
Market Locally: Use digital ads, school partnerships, and student testimonials to build trust.
Final Thoughts
In 2025, the smartest business move you can make is one that blends profit, purpose, and future-readiness. And that’s exactly what becoming a franchise owner in the education sector offers.
With growing demand, low competition in smaller cities, and immense scope for digital expansion, the education franchise model is ideal for professionals, educators, investors, and even homemakers looking for flexible business opportunities.
If you’re serious about building a business that’s financially rewarding and socially meaningful, it’s time to explore education franchise opportunities—because the future of learning needs leaders like you.

Custom 1/25 scale 1921 Ford Model T hot rod, done to the style of late 1970s/early 1980s show cars and powered by a small block Chevy V8 engine with highrise manifold and dual 4-barrel carburetors. Honestly not a lot of the MPC "Switchers" 1925 T-Rod kit from 1977 that I started with is left now, mainly the suspension, frame, and a few engine parts.
