For the seventh year in a row, I am hosting Scarecrow Week! This is a time for us fans to celebrate the Master of Fear, the Duke of Despair, the Lord of Terror, Jonathan Crane! I’ve come up with a whole week’s worth of prompts to inspire you. All types of content is welcome and you don't have to follow the prompts, they're just for fun!, Fanfic, artwork, edits, memes, whatever--it's welcome!! Show you love of Scarecrow however you like! Just keep your submissions safe for work please! Aside from that rule, go wild! (and if you feel you can’t complete the prompts in October, late OR early entries are accepted!)

I had to redo this post due to accidental posting when i was editing it and Tumblr post it....thanks Tumblr..

Thank you so much for your likes and reblogs, I did have my hesitations about posting this as we're tended to be our worst critics. I am super thankful for the amazing support and encouragement from my amazing friends from the various fandoms. Although I most likely won't be able to do much for the ScarecrowWeeek2024 or Halloween, I wanted to end the month with by far one of my favorite Halloween drawings hahaha

CW and Disclaimer: To clarify, the dress is a reference to Crimson Peak (although I am not a huge fan), so the brownish red is not blood but red dirt/ clay. Below there is the masked version, and a scythe. The mask looks intentionally scary, so I wanted to put a warning for it! Please enjoy!)

As you can tell, I couldn't help myself but sneak some Sleepy Hollow esque- themes for the drawing with Jon's unmasked scarecrow outfit while he carries his wife Elizabeth (My OC). The background are meant to be corvids, so let's pretend Craw and Nightmare are just flying behind them, as I sadly couldn't sneak them in

I do like to think, they're celebrating their anniversary, and he swept her off her chair into a wonderful walk among the corn fields while quoting Poetry to her along spooky stories (Def Poe's poetry and Sleepy Hollow)

Anyway, here's the mask version, which I quite love! I was super hesitant as I didn't think my scarecrow concept looked very scarecrow-y, but the most important thing was to have fun, and I love y'all like it :3

His mask is like a mix of a plague doctor Zombie, so I hope it fits hahaha

Anyway happy Halloween, and thank you Moffy for providing me with such opportunity with this last day

Scarecrow Week Day 2- University Stories

Waow Jon sure seems to like teaching, sure hope nothing bad happens...

Very overdue and experimental but egh... Just had this idea in my head that Jon keeps any gifts he gets from students super safely tucked away somewhere, but he'd absolutely never tell a soul.

If ya wanna know what that girl's drawing looks like, I drew it but ended up not needing it in the end ;;

Day 4: Revenge of on the Hobby Lobby Scarecrows When I saw this page in my coloring book, it instantly gave me Scarecrow vibes. It kinda reminds me of New 52 Crane with the stitched mouth, but the blue eyes are inspired by Cillian Murphy in the Nolan movies and the red-ish shirt is a nod to BTAS. I tried to make the bird on his shoulder look purple-black because it's special. This can either be Craw the Crow or Nightmare the Raven. And of course, I can't leave out the fear toxin! This version is lime green so the pumpkins stand out because it makes everyone who looks at a cute scarecrow from Hobby Lobby see this spooky scarecrow, and they will know they cannot escape from whatever The Scarecrow has planned this Halloween!

Day 3: Farm-life Family

for him, it starts as all things do—a fleeting thought. the idea that he could control fear, as if it could work like a dial he could turn at will—make it more, make it less.

he thinks about it as he lies in bed at night, watching the moon rise higher and higher through the window that needs repairs: paint peeling, panes cracked. in winter, he huddles close, shivering, imagining an alternate reality where he isn’t scared. he’s a rational young boy; he knows what’s real, what isn’t—

but it doesn’t matter. not when his mind loops his fears, when the shadows in the corner dance just right, when the noises outside don’t settle, and the train horn blows sometime after midnight.

he’s still just a young boy, after all.

in summer, he tosses and turns, sweat beading on his forehead as the air grows stifling. there’s no central air in the house, no window unit either. but there is a ceiling fan—steadily working towards its death, day in and day out, for as long as jonathan can remember. he watches the blades spin ‘round, counterclockwise in the summer, the repetitive motion almost calming him.

the thought turns into a dream. an occasional comfort that lulls him to sleep. some nights, if he’s lucky, he dreams of not being afraid: he comes home and there’s food on the table. he comes home and his shoulders aren’t bunched to his ears, his jaw doesn’t ache from tension. he comes home without bumps or bruises or long-dried tear tracks on his cheeks. he comes home and he isn’t afraid.

then morning comes, and he’s reminded that it was just that—a dream. he can’t control fear any more than he can control where lightning strikes.

one day, in school, jonathan learns about the scientific method, and he becomes obsessed. questions turn into experiments, experiments into answers—yes, no, try again. if he writes it down, it counts as science, and if it counts as science, then there’s a reasonable explanation, a result that can be controlled, manipulated, and understood.

everything becomes hypothesis: if it rains today, then tomorrow will be sunny (false). if he stacks his books in a straight pile, great-granny will leave him alone tonight (false). if he smiles at enough people, eventually they will smile back (false).

if he can turn fear into something tangible, then it can’t hurt him anymore.

he thinks that one day, he’ll get it right.
