This is a more serious note but I kindly ask everyone and anyone who still supports Cupinho/and or anyone that interacts with them to unfollow me and cease any interaction or contact. This is a person who has caused a lot of pain to others in the Scp Fandom and someone who has disrespected Bright users as a whole. As someone who has made it a point to stand up for Bright users as well as rewrite users this is simply something I cannot stand for.

I do not believe in blocking so please don’t take not being blocked as an invitation to interact. You know who you are.

Also I may still follow certain people who I report on here I don’t consider following to equal support and I do it simply to keep an eye on those known to cause trouble.

Also for any Bright fans in need of a Discord server we will be working on creating our own and there is another in the works by someone else as well. These servers will be run by responsible adults who will put the interests of the server members above their own personal agendas. Rewrite users and Shaw users will be welcome. Regulations will be strictly enforced. Additionally we do have experience moderating and owning servers so there’s no need to worry about any issues.

This, I also feel like the site is very harsh on new writers a lot of which are younger too.

I’m gonna be real the wiki dot sucks ass. It’s not the janky part of the site it’s that the community on the wiki dot is a cesspool of negativity and sadness. I know it’s probably because the community originated on 4-Chan but it still sucks ass to interact with. It’s come to the point that me and a bunch of others have been bullied for years. The bullying usually targets neurodivergent people and children especially.

It sucks and I only use the wiki dot for reading now :(

Something NEEDS to be changed and addressed. It's 2024 (close to 2025), it isn't 2009, it isn't 2012, it isn't even 2019 anymore. The wiki can do better, and I hope it does.

If they wanted a gated community then the SCP wiki should have been kept PRIVATE. But no, it's on a place where it's easily accessible to everyone unless that specific website URL is blocked. It's utter luck that it got super popular (and iirc SCP had its origins in creepypasta; with original SCP-173) so even then: there was still an audience.

Howdy! I don’t really make posts like this very often but I’d love to spread some awareness of things and just get my thoughts out there!

 Recently in the SCP fandom, there’s been a very heated debate on renaming the character Jack Bright to Elias Shaw along with a total rewrite of him to what is essentially a completely different character and not just a remake. 

 I feel like this rewrite is more of a cover-up and a chance to make the wiki look better than anything and that’s not mentioning the various issues there are with the creators of it. It’s painting the issues with AB in a way that makes it as if they’re the only issue when in reality, the entire wiki has a history of corruption, grooming, doxing, racism, misogyny, etc. Wiki members have been banned for just speaking out against other members or spreading awareness of what goes on with wiki staff. I would like to believe that some of the actions of Shaw’s creators are just ignorance but that can only go so far before it’s intentional and actively harmful.

 Some users have made their own rewrites and I support that as long as they acknowledge the origins of Jack Bright and spread awareness about his creator in any way they can without just covering it up and hiding it further. It’s important to learn from the past and not repeat it.

 If you don’t like Bright and prefer Shaw, that’s fine, but do not attack people that prefer him and vice versa. Don’t send hate, don’t send death threats. I would like it if people could just be civil about this but unfortunately that’s not always the case and some people just don’t know how to have calm discussions or step away to continue something when they’re in a better headspace. It’s irritating.

 I personally am going to continue using the character Jack Bright in my SCP fics, art, and other things. I believe the character belongs more to the community than anything and other writers have done far more for the character than AB ever did. Covering up the character and removing everything relating to them would only stop more people from learning about AB and the wiki’s issues. 

If anyone would like me to elaborate on anything, let me know.

Like somebody else said, Bright is a SCP researcher from the. The website. Ya know, the website. His story is that his soul is trapped in an amulet that basically makes him entirely immortal. This is the base story for the character, with a lot of the other information coming from the various writers. The site has no definitive canon apart from that base description.

Often he's depicted as a Chaotic Neutral funny dude. With trauma. And that's I T. He's a stock character with flavor.

A lot of the controversy comes from two things: 1) The List 2) The creator.

The List is basically a really infamous list of things the guy is not allowed to do, and its known for being... really NSFW and raunchy. There's things there that are... mm. mmmm. I hate that list personally and I would not mourn it if it gets nuked from orbit. But one important thing to remember is that there is no canon in the site, and therefore the list is not a definitive canon for the character. Yes, it sucks and its NSFW as hell and has some horrible stuff implied on it, but IMO its not really something you have to use?? I've seen great takes on the character that don't use it at all. brb while i get my chainsaw cannon out for that list (and the guy below)

The bigger one at the moment is the creator, who is an Absolute Dick and I Do Not Support Him In Any Way. Other people can likely do a better job explaining what's wrong with the guy and I agree the guy is a verified Bad Dude. As the character was originally the guy's self insert (he eventually did distance himself from the character) a lot of people are uncomfortable with the character because of the associations to the guy. Plus, the creator using the character's popularity to... get to people. So being uncomfortable is totally valid! Personally since the character is more so a stock character for the website and a lot of the content has been made by other people, I don't blame the character himself for the actions of the creator- he's mostly been taken and ran with by wildly different people. The creator using the popularity to harm people absolutely sucks, but that's because the creator is a sucky dude that would use any sort of popularity he gets for his own nefarious purposes.

Since of the creator stuff people have been trying to remove the character from the site. Its a whole thing. It sucks. Since as you can tell from my own bias (yes im happily in the love category) I think the character is literally a stock character on a Creative Commons licensed website where most of the content is not from the creator and a lot of it is very, very well done. The creator should be widely ostracized and people should know what they've done yet not have that impact their enjoyment of a fancy stock character. Plus, harassing fans of the character is 100% NOT OKAY. And that dang list... use it or ignore it, I blame the community for letting it happen more so than the character himself. why are yall like that (this is why fandom can't have nice things)

This proshippers and “radqueers” are not welcomed here either and also a warning to those who frequent the Bright tags apparently these weirdos have been invading the Bright tags so I’d encourage everyone to block the tags “radqueer” “pro radqueer” and “rqc” additionally they also seem to use the “🍓🌈” emojis as tags so I would block both of those too. If you happen to come across any of these accounts it’s important to NOT interact and block/report I’d encourage minors to be extra vigilant as well as these people do not seem to safe to be around.

On another note as a Bright fan we do not claim these people nor do we accept them, their behavior and beliefs are not indicative of how the rest of us are.

Putting this here for no reason in particular, but you cannot be transphobic or homophobic and be a part of the scp fandom, at least in the EN part. Although the fandom may have had a rocky past when it came to being accepting especially in the early 2010’s, the fandom has made large strides towards being more inclusive for everyone, and of all the fandoms I’ve been it has the largest number of trans and queer creators and community members. However if you insist on being a bigot perhaps that rpc place would be more suitable for you, if that place is even still around.

I firmly believe that Dr Glass shouldn’t be shipped with anyone because he also needs fucking therapy lol. My headcannon is that Dr Glasses crush on Agent Diogenes is a combo of actual love and respect and just wanting to fill an oddly shaped hole in his heart with anyone that treats him like a human being, not like he’s above them/Not treating him like an angel.

Don’t care if y’all ship him with anyone it’s just a silly headcannon of mine.
