Word Find Tag
Thanks for the tag, @yejidoesthings! My words were flip, kill, kiss, protect, weapon, sun, and three.
From WANNABE:
Flip:
Claw, his inner sensors calibrated for acrobatics, arched in a graceful flip to make a three-point landing on the forest floor. Sharpe didn’t fare so well. He was programmed to get to high ground and stay there. His long limbs flailed, reaching for something he couldn’t grab, and he huffed when he landed securely in Lug’s huge arms.
Lug beamed at the prize he’d caught. “Hey, that’s a record for you, ain’t it? You’ve never gotten out of a tree that fast before!”
“Put me down, Lug!”
Kill:
“Any intel?”
“Not really. Seems like he got drunk and his girlfriend left him, so he wants us to kill the last people he saw with her based on some conspiracy theory.”
“Exactly how I wanted to spend my night.”
Kiss:
“What do you think we’ll have to do with that?” asked Claw. “Touch it? Pick it up?”
“Kiss it sweetly,” said Sharpe with a flat, strangely muffled voice. “How should I know? I just never want to see another cave again.”
Protect:
He was to protect. That was his purpose, was what he was built for.
His eyes fell on a tiny, huddled human child gripping his orange cat.
“Briar,” he mumbled, and virtually flew across the ruined track toward him.
Weapon:
Claw couldn’t get it out of his head. “Why’re you still cleaning your weapons?” he asked, trying to distract himself.
Sharpe slid his eyes to Claw. “To get the dirt off them.”
“Bit of a waste, don’t you think?”
Circuit put up a finger. “I’ve determined that Sharpe’s obsessive polishing of his firearms is self-soothing behavior—”
“I’m fine,” Sharpe growled as he snapped his pistol back together.
Sun:
Sharpe stiffened. He watched the sunset for a while before he said, sounding far more wistful than he had in a very long time, “I remember watching the sunset with you once like this. On a roof.”
“When…?” Claw searched himself, then brightened in recollection. “Oh, wait. That was after I kicked those drunk guys’ asses, wasn’t it?”
“Hm.”
Three:
Mobo pressed his back into the wall and hiked his legs up on the bench, but then the buzzing loudened and the walls closed in, the shield coming at him from three sides. He tightened his limbs around himself and held his breath, squeezing his eyes shut, his skin prickling as his sensors picked up on the heat and danced with the current. There would be no moving, no struggling without hurting himself. He was trapped. Alone.
Man, this got me to reread stuff I haven't looked at in a while! To the people I tag, your words will be: Dream, Spirit, Storm, Cruel, Dangerous, Future, and Hurt.
No pressure tag list under the cut:
