After finding the second inspirational location I felt a little more comfortable with posing. Strike that, that's a lie. I was still severely uncomfortable but figured what the hell and just went for it. The worst that could happen is that none of the pictures turn out but that would be the same potential outcome as just standing around not posing. Looks like just going for it was the way to go. Who is this? Is this me? • I loved this location, too. A beautiful beach with giant boulders scattered throughout. Another spot I could have spent the entire day being creative. I definitely climbed those boulders in the dress, barefoot, and without my glasses. A big question that I’ve been getting in the last couple of consultations from couples is whether or not they need a second shooter at their wedding!! Under normal circumstances, I would have highly recommend a second shooter because you’d get away with getting a different perspective from your day with two photographers vs one! However with covid regulations, I can say that it might be easier to hire only one photographer because you have limited numbers of people allowed and just want to be as safe as possible! An experienced photographer would still go above and beyond to capture imagery that will tell the story of your day from multiple perspectives! Take for example these two images here both captured by me running behind the crowd and the aisle so that I can get both couple’s expressions as they shared vows! I would say that I easily have shot 75% of my first 5 years of weddings by myself and can confidently deliver these kinds of imagery BUT if your venue can allow for more people and under normal circumstances, I’d highly recommend having two photographers! So. This year I made it a goal to step in front of the camera. Self portraits, if you will, with additional eyes to help ensure I was in frame, in focus, and in a flattering pose since I'm not fully confident to do it alone just yet (it's hard 😭). January started off strong with the hawk set. February I focused on my project with the zoo so I didn't get a chance to do a personal one. So for March, my birthday month, I decided to make the most out of my trip back home to the West Coast. I brought with me one dress to use whenever I found a location that sparked inspiration. • This is the first photo. I'm super awkward in front of the camera and although I knew what pose I wanted in the composition I didn't feel comfortable enough that I'd be able to execute it which meant I ended up just standing there. I was completely out of my element and had zero confidence in myself but I was determined to go through with this. I loved this location. It was an old graveyard in the middle of a little forest. I could spend my day here writing, drawing, or photographing.
