and yes, mob Does grow to recognize tome as a friend instead of a stranger! it's a bit of a weird dynamic at first, bc when tome meets ritsu, the boys r separated. ritsu is adamant that zombie mob isnt violent, but tome begs to differ...

when tome led mob away from ritsu so she could get him back to the settlement, she ended up tying him to a random utility pole w rope from ritsu's bag she totally rifled through. in any other circumstance she'd prolly just let the patrol guards kill him, but mob is the one that got her attention and Led her to a sick ritsu, and she finds that they're traveling together.. (their labeled water bottles in ritsu's bag is the biggest sign; saliva can infect u so ritsu has to be careful abt not drinking after mob) this zombie is Behaving Strangely and tome is too curious abt this wack ass setup they've got goin to just,, let this zombie die or wander off. the only method she has of keeping him in one place is to tie him somewhere :/

zombie mob doesnt seem to rly care at first, he's just worried abt ritsu, but then when tome doesnt come back for a bit ??? the next morning when she returns (with food and water for him !) he is vicious toward her. he cant do anything tied up like he is, but he's constantly snapping his teeth at her, hissing and spitting and snarling, and trying to wiggle free

all that mob knows if that he tried to get help from this girl, ritsu is gone now, and he's tied to a pole. that pisses him off and all his addled brain can rly process is that ritsu is In Danger somewhere he cant get to. and in tome's perspective, this strange kid she saved has been traveling with a fucking demon, but somehow isnt infected.they checked. he's miraculously not

when ritsu is well enough to hold a convo, tome tells him she has his zombie friend safe somewhere, bc even in his delirium ritsu was mumbling abt his brother (tome voice ah! they're brothers... inchresting i see the resemblance if i remove the horrid eyebags from mob's face). ritsu says mob is an extremely docile zombie by default. tome says he's literally one of the most vicious ones she's ever seen. neither of them believe each other and ritsu is convinced she has the wrong zombie and that mob is still out there somewhere, wandering the settlement grounds just Asking for a patrol to kill him

when ritsu is better, she sneaks him outta the settlement to see his brother. as soon as tome comes around the corner of mob's sad little Utility Pole home he gets riled up and starts snarling, but when another figure follows behind her, he Instantly settles. he sees ritsu's face, still a bit pale but otherwise alive, and every alarm bell in mob's head is cleared and he relaxes like a switch in him was flipped

ritsu saw that viciousness for a split second tho, and is Shocked by it. nevertheless ritsu is so relieved he's okay, so he basically rushes at mob and envelopes him in a Hug and tome watches this, kinda stunned. the way his brother instantly settles in the hold ?? maybe ritsu Was right, in his eyes... maybe being around ritsu just calms mob down, so ritsu's only seen his tame side

tome joins the gang after that (her joining might seem strange, given she hasnt much of a motive, but trust me, for tome, getting to study this enigma of a dynamic is basically her dream. also she has a backstory that motivates her more but im not getting into that now). and it's very odd how mob seems to,,, be largely ok w her now ?

she thought it'd be difficult, given his obvious hatred of her after their first meeting, but it seems that her eventually bringing back ritsu erased most of the distrust there. he's typically pretty cool w her around; the only times he gets testy is when she shoves ritsu around when they're bullying each other. after all this time of walking w a gentle ritsu alone, mob doesnt rly know the difference between fun roughhousing and actually hurting each other, so he typically growls at her lowly until she stops

later on in the journey, he shows genuine trust in tome, particularly after moments where she saves him or ritsu from getting shot. and way later on, when tome is in trouble, mob even attacks another zombie to keep them away from her

eventually he sees her as part of the gang, and tome sees him as less of a Vicious Monster and more of what he actually is; somebody's brother that is sick, and is one of the only zombies in existence that is actually being taken care of and accommodated for

Current Obsession: to be brief.....everything going on with Alan wake 2. Also the relationship between knowing the anatomy and knowing the soul. How in the first book in the lilith's brood trilogy you see the ooloi know humans down to their basic components but fail so miserably at understanding the emotional needs of them that they keep fucking up the ones they raise. And how in the death of jane lawrence theres an element to the way magic works that if you wanted to bring someone back from the dead you would have to know them body and soul. They'd come out missing organs and being a mirror of how you view them not how they actually were.

i started watching arc v! finally. after years of saying Im Gonna. its Happening. (i've tried to twice and cant recall what eps i got to in those attempts, because I literally dont remember anything at ALL LMAO) I'm like, 15 eps in and may I just say some Things. ep 1-15 thoughts below the Cut

-yuzu best girl immediately my god shes already been done dirty tho. she shouldve gotten to fight shingo! fuck emo yuya for stopping it and stepping in! (altho yaaaay xyz :3 my beloved) and also she loses the first duel we see her get to do? when her dad is literally the owner of a duel school?? and his school was at stake?? bc she was distracted thinking of Not Yuya? no. fuck off with that lol I'm picking her up and mentally rewriting all that. the girl she dueled against was super fun tho, I ship them tbh.

-yuya is finally the canonical clown ygo protag I needed. he dresses as a clown in ep 1! he has! a circus deck! thats so fun! hes a LOT more melancholic/prone to moodiness than I expected...the goggles as a mood indicator is fun. also seems to care VERY much what ppl think/need lots of applause and praise or he gets upset quickly which. like, wanting to put smiles on ppls faces with dueling is a sweet goal, but a lot of it feels self-serving, too, which is Inchresting for a protag...I LIKE it and want to see where it goes

-and the whole 'laugh when you want to cry' is, ngl, very Bad and Unhealthy and I cant imagine we're going anywhere good with that. (seriously, dont recall what ep, maybe 4 or 5, when the kids and yuzu were in danger he started LAUGHING trying to imrpove his own mood and i was like DUDE. UNNERVING STOP THAT.) let him feel his feelings guys. or this is going to go severely Bad I Think

-dont trust sora but also no shit? his intro is him being sus, basically outright saying 'ya where I come from everyone does fusion, nbd' yeah hes some kind of spy or SOMETHING for that academia that emo yuya was taking abt. and his deck is very cute but also has a dark side/creepy cute thing going on and this is ygo where Decks Indicate Personality, so. just kinda Waiting for him to Stab Backs. hes already kind of a little shit

-he 100% shouldve been dueling that guy gongenzaka had to duel! gongenzaka doesnt even GO here and ms Chairman said someone from this school had to duel her school students! if you want to fake being friends with yuya! you need to fucking put in some EFFORT!!! and at least pretend to give a shit dude, this is the school the guy you supposedly admire attends!!! it comes off as u not giving a fuck abt anything besides pendulum/yuya-related stuff which is gonna make yuya less inclined to wanna be ur friend bc u look like a brat! (I know the meta answer is that they wanted to give gongenzaka some screentime to convince me hes yuyas bff or w/e but. in my mind its been 10 or so eps by this point, yuzu is yuyas bff in my mind lol. )

-anyway that aside soras deck is SO cute. the BEARS!! ARE IN!!!! the 'acting younger/cuter than u are' shtick is already kind of annoying tho. I do like his chara design tho (at least his hair/face? Id redesign his outfit ngl if hes going for a cutecore/sweets theme why not go ALL in yk)

-gongenzaka's whole 'no spells/traps' and standing in one spot during an action duel is objectively really funny

-action duels in general are SO FUN!!! i want to ride my monsters too..i kno theyd be soft. pls.

-really wanted to see more masumi or her vs yuya!!! so sad reiji stepped in. pls let the girls DO MORE!!! i love that she used gem knights!! I love gem knights!!!

-didnt know reiji used d/d/d cards, immediately broke out into a cold sweat upon seeing them. those decks always destroy me in duel links in like 2 turns jkasfkjjn.

I noticed a few numbers - 3, 18, & 27 - that stood out in the 506 dialogue through repetition or specificity. Let the overanalyzing begin!

The number 3. They note mitchell’s triple homicide within the ep in the dialogue at least twice and once in print, on Meynard’s computer. Since mitchell is parallel to eddie, I thought the triple homicide might be meaningful to eddie’s story. We’re dealing with heart themes this season/ep so I think the number 3 is about the hearts eddie thinks he’s broken over the years: sh*nnon, chris, and a*a. In eddie’s mind all three people have suffered in one way or another due to his “congenital heart failure”/emotional unavailability. Also, season 3 as a whole gave us the tsunami arc, eddie’s grief arc and his anger toward buck for not being there for him, eddie begins which gave us the will off-screen, and buck’s closure with abby in the finale.

The number 18. The show stated multiple times that mitchell was in prison for 18 years. I thought this might correspond to a meaningful ep number in the series and when I checked…lo and behold “buck actually” (208) is the 18th ep of the series. In that ep we met thomas & mitchell, the GAY couple who got a whole beautiful GAY backstory and everything. 208!Mitchell was the one who passed away first and Thomas followed wherever he led. They “only ever wanted to go together”. Who else do we know who feel compelled to follow one another into possible oblivion? Yep! But Buddie is about life not death. Buddie is happening y’all!! This is not a drill!!

The number 27. In the ambulance with 506!Mitchell, eddie mocks mitchell’s “27-step breakout plan”. Because the ambulance conversation with mitchell is a window into eddie’s head and we know eddie’s hiding inside himself/ keeping his distance, the desire/ plan to breakout is really important just in its own right. At the same time, eddie is mocking mitchell’s desire for freedom and his own desire by extension. Death row inmates don’t get to leave their prison. And neither does eddie. He’s condemned himself to solitary confinement and maybe to an emotional “death” of sorts. To life without full connection to/ expression of his own heart for his own sake. As for the number 27 itself, it felt too specific to not matter. Turns out the 27th episode of the series is “Careful What You Wish For” (217). Eddie was looking for a sign about how to move forward in his romantic life for chris and for himself. He started to trust sh*nnon again. He began to think that his emotional breakout plan was taking a second chance with sh*nnon, but ultimately she wanted a divorce and died shortly thereafter. It’s huge that eddie was so open and expressive of his feelings when he proposed to her. I think it matters though that he broke out of his emotional prison in ep 27 and got destroyed. I think that fact makes him hesitant to express his needs and feelings even now in s5. Also, just as a fun aside: This is also the ep where we got eddie proposing to sh*nnon with a molten chocolate metaphor drawn from a call the 118 got in which, among other things, buck almost falls into the chocolate! 👀 Eddie makes the most hilariously awkward metaphor during the proposal: “Actually life is like a vat of molten chocolate. Sometimes you fall into it, it drags you down, but it’s warm and it’s sweet.” I think it’s inchresting that eddie *stopped* buck from falling in, from being dragged down. Still it’s even more inchresting that eddie implicitly connected buck to his chosen life/relationship metaphor AT ALL during his proposal. Methinks eddie has some romantic desires that he’s not dealing with. ‘s’all I’m sayin’.

So um yeah, this isht seems relevant af. Go Buddie go!! Also, my last braincell is over and done so i may just be nuts…I don’t FEEL nuts tho 👀

hrrrrrrrghghgh this part makes me uh scared for these three characters. the frame's they're in remind me of playing cards, and as you can see they flip over to show them all in different poses, more disheveled, probably in distress of some sort, but the worst part is the way belos's hand seems to pick them up, as if they're, well, just playing cards. anyway good luck to these guys because uhhhhhhhhh (kikimora reminds me of that one school field trip tour guide who wouldn't let you eat lunch, so uh rip to her ig, we don't really know who the middle guy is yet, but already have gender envy for him, huh, and i'm still mad at lilith but she's growing on me so i hope nothing too bad happens to her bc she's already kind of been through it. tho pretty sure most of us are expecting she won't get through this season unscathed sfdkjsfdjksa)

belos is scary!! i don't know that much about character design but the way the owl house does its masked villains always seemed really unique to me and it never feels overdone because it fits with the atmosphere of the boiling isles a lot so i can't wait to see what they do with him :D also looks like he's fighting someone + plus there's a flash of gold from the lightning right before his eyes flash blue, not sure if that's supposed to parallel eda's and lilith's colors but i thought it was cool. ooh also in the old intro this is king's part. given how we're going to find out more about king's past this is inchresting hmmm

LOOK AT LUZ AGAIN :D MY BELOVED :D the shadows and it being evening are really cool! sets the scene very nicely. TINY NOSE!!! dfkjsdfkjl the worm i think it's really cool how they kept this part the same with a couple minor changes like the lighting and eda's eye! it kind of gives you a sense that the season is still going to be the show we know and love, just obviously with changes as the story advances

luz and her light :D fadsjkfdskj not sure what they're called but the nebula things in the sky are really pretty! they make the world feel a little wider if that makes sense, as in there's more out there we haven't seen

LOOK AT THAT BORDER!!! IT LOOKS SO COOL!! the skeletons are so funky and the other symbols (i think those might be glyphs??) make it feel like it's tying back to something old like the history we were introduced to in season one

the elements' animation just look cool as fuck and are just a very nice reminder of how luz's skills have grown so much

im not sure what to make of jisung and felix here, they seem to be in the same situation more or less without any more clues of how their arcs are going to progress, which makes sense because they've stayed relatively in the background in the love interest situation. poor felix tho. my heart broke for him in this fic. moving on from potential love interests, i was surprised by how close yn was to yeji in this fic. yeji, ryujin, and yuna- the three itzy girls we saw most of in season one

though i feel like you focused more into the “romance” parts of the arc clues which is probably why you didn’t get anything from felix and jisung in this fic despite the fact that they are one of the most often mentioned characters. inchresting. there’s def some intriguing jisung and felix clues in there though, maybe not just specifically about the endgame of it all (as well as for the other characters as well)

oh yeah, maybe i should’ve made it clear that the symbolism doesn’t necessarily revolve around the romance 🤧🙏
