WIP Wednesday: Sneak Peek of Chapter 7 of Like The Dawn

Things have been busy at work and I’m in the midst of trying to apply for a new job, but I promise I’m chipping away at this! I’m hoping to make more progress this weekend and maybe even finish the chapter by then, so keep your eyes peeled. 

Have some poor, tortured Hikaku in the meantime. ♥️♥️♥️

Hikaku found that the closer they got to the fabled Hatake lands, the more restless he felt.

He hadn’t slept well since Kagami and Kei had been taken, and the only thing driving him forward currently was the need to have his son back in his arms once more. For as long as he lived, Hikaku would never forget the terror he’d felt when Izuna had burst into his house to tell him that Kei’s parents had been murdered and that he and Kagami had been taken by the Hagoromo.

Since then, all Hikaku had done was question what he could have done differently to prevent their abduction. He knew there had been nothing to suggest Kagami would be less than safe with Kei’s parents, but he still found himself thinking he should have somehow known better.

The boys had been playing at the edge of a modestly sized lake that fed into the Naka, well within Uchiha territory when the Hagoromo had ambushed the group, killing Kei’s parents in the process. Hikaku still burned with rage over the fact their sentries had somehow failed to miss the incursion upon their territory and had only caught on to the Hagoromo’s presence as the foreign shinobi had been driving the fleeing boys off of their land. The only reason he wasn’t about to hunt down the unit that had been on duty and skin them alive was that Madara was bound to make his displeasure known upon his return, as was his right as the head of the clan’s Outguard Patrol Forces.

That it was Madara’s own men that had allowed the son of his cousin to be abducted, the boy fourth in line to assume leadership of the clan should anything happen to Tajima’s sons or Hikaku himself, only deepened the ire they were likely to face. Hikaku felt no sympathy for any of them, kin or not. 

His only consolation the entire time Kagami had been missing was that it had been Madara who had gone after the boys. Hikaku knew there was no one better suited to retrieving the pups, not when Madara was the strongest of their generation and his younger cousin knew just how much it would destroy Hikaku to lose Kagami.

Kagami was his first and only child and all that he had remaining of Seiji, his late mate. Hikaku would not survive it if he lost his son as well. He’d woven every strand of his life to revolve around Kagami in the aftermath of Seiji’s passing, and the binding threads of his all-encompassing love for his pup had inevitably become his salvation amidst the dark depths of his grief. 

His son had been the only thing keeping him sane in the days following his mate’s death when little else had mattered to him. It had taken time, but slowly Hikaku had healed, their clan’s curse held at bay a little longer as the days turned into weeks, and then months without incident.

He couldn’t bear the thought of once again walking through too silent corridors, of seeing Kagami’s small futon forever folded up and tucked away, never to be used again. Hikaku did not want his son’s existence to be relegated to mere Sharingan memories and physical mementos like was the case with Seiji. The thought that such a thing could become possible physically hurt in a way that very little else could. 

Hikaku just wanted his pup back, alive and whole. And until he could have that, until he knew for certain Kagami was alright, then he’d—

“I believe it’s safest to stop here and make camp for the night,” Takeshi abruptly announced. 

Jarred from his thoughts, Hikaku nearly stumbled over his own feet as the large wolf in front of them began to slow down from the run the giant summons had been maintaining for the last three hours.

Tajima came to a gradual halt beside him, along with old Ikuko who had been bringing up their rear. The middle-aged omega glanced out and over the clearing they’d stopped in, already assessing potential threats before she met Hikaku’s eyes and gave a brusque, short nod.

“There isn’t anyone around us for at least three hundred and sixty shaku,” Ikuko reassured their small group. “At least not that I can sense. If we stop, it’s safe for the moment as he said.”

1. Akira belonged to a clan in a Japan in the medieval age (clans were created by the emperor of that time , like Kira Clan , Kiso Clan , Kikuchi Clan , Fujiwara Clan , Kitabatake Clan , ect ) , the clan name was Yorunohoshi Clan

Headcannons

1.Akira arrived at Skullbania, already through a portal, they almost killed her , she was like this for days until the trolls found Her and then took her to drool.

2. Katashi, Akira's older brother went looking for her, thanks to a Sorcerer of the time, unfortunately he didn't find her, but there are legends in Skullbania about Katashi and his travels and victories, It was even believed that Katashi was an undead, since he fought as if he was already dead ( common in samurai)

3. Drool's age at that time was 1024, while Akira was 24 (which in Akira's time was already old, since most died young)

4. At first Drool left Akira in the dungeon. Later when Akira forged her katana and began to use her abilities , he had suggested to her to be part of the army, something that Akira didn't accept (since she is very Honor ) , that again he locked her in the dungeon, where some orcs almost killed her.

Long after, Drool in some kind of rare act of kindness, he took her out of the dungeon and into a Cell that was in his bedroom.

With the passing of time, Drool became fond of her, even leaving her free around, And well, Akira, she got Stockholm syndrome.

5. Then Akira got pregnant by him, then Akira returns to Japan because she fell into a portal again, while Drool got angry, since he thought that she abandoned him and started to hate humanity even more.

6. When Akira returned to Japan, no one in her clan recognized her, only one of her brothers , Tadao recognized her.

7. When Akihiro was born, the clan instead of tying Akihiro to a wolf, they killed Akira, Akira's brothers for such dishonor, they made a ritual that was to kill themselves , their wives were also killed , except Tadao he was on a search for Europe , Akira's nephews and nieces and baby Akihiro were left in the Aokigahara forest to die.

8.the eldest daughter of Tadao, Tsutsuji, tried to do everything possible for her and her cousins ​​to survive, even to build a cabin near Lake Saiko.

9.A year later Akira revived as a demon and began to kill her former clan one by one, while Tadao returns and finds out everything, he felt more shame for his clan than he did with his own sister.

Kanon + Takato I feel like would have a lot to talk about! Takato at least has a better relationship with Katsuki than Kanon from what I gather, but he's severely conflicted in what it means to be a Quirkless child of a big name hero. I think Kanon would really be able to show him what healing from that childhood looks like, and that being Quirkless isn't a death sentence.

I think Himeka and Yuto would probably annoy each other a lot. Just based off personality alone, Yuto would probably bug her a lot and poke holes in her persona. I'd assume Himeka probably isn't above stooping down to his level and they probably would bicker a lot. You'd have to tell me if she's someone that would sling passive aggressive comments back at him lmao. (Hint: he probably deserves it)

However, I also think Kimiko would admire Yukiana a lot! They have semi-similar personalities (bright, bubbly, a sense of empathy that could probably burn through steel), and Yukiana would probably just generally be someone she'd want to look up to. Her sense of style amazes her, her general disposition and achievements make her an idol to the younger Midoriya girl.

Katsura and Makoto have pretty similar Quirks! Perhaps they'd trade tips and tactics when they have downtime. However like Kanon and Takato, probably also have a lot to talk about because they're polar opposites. Makoto where she admires her father so much she was willing to change her appearance for it, and Katsura who's actively doing her best to look nothing like him, I presume.

Kin and Daisuke. Enough said. (World's smartest dumbasses, and with the Quirks they have, probably also the strongest. Probably the most chaotic on the list.)

Kira and Seiji have very similar Quirks as well. I wonder if Kira could ever get Seiji to race her, see who's faster once and for all? Would likely get along somewhat better with Tetsuka or Niji, however. I think he appreciates quieter people on a personal level (with the exception of his dumbass boyfriend). Perhaps he and Niji would make for a good team up someday?

Mizumi and Rin as the nicest half-sisters ever! Rin is indeed a dumb bitch, but I think their personalities would mesh very well if they ever met! Her and Yoruko would likely make for a fun team though, I think Light Frog would be greatly entertained by her shadow puppets.

Kelly's Johto Pokémon

Still douring her journey days, Kelly was in Johto for a big pokemon battle event;

She was camping with Ingo and Emmet who were also taking part;

They being strong trainers could have simply chosen to go straight to a city, but they said they needed peace and quiet to be able to train and Kelly had the same intentions;

Whereas she didn't want unnecessary stares since she brought her main team that had some rare and two legendary pokemon with her;

Kelly's mother, Isabel asked to take Aki along with the girl;

Not to compete, but to be able to visit the lands where its grew up and lived for years and it's been a long time since they've been in Johto;

Suicune first appeared in a lake in Johto, where several water-type Pokémon were feeling unwell due to polluted water;

Suicune constantly used its power to restore the water of the lake the pokémon were in and heal them, but that was a trap of pokémon hunters;

They continued to deliberately pollute the lake to force Suicune to repeatedly purify it;

Aki the Entei was feeling that something very off was happening, like its instincts or some kind of special connection between legendaries;

During training, Aki simply ran off and Kelly witnessed the moment that her legendary friend simply ran into the forest;

Worried, she went back with Ingo and Emmet in her tail;

When Ingo, Emmet and Kelly arrived at the lake, noticing Aki sprawling among the surrounding foliage, they saw another legendary pokémon: A suicune;

The pokémon was making repeated use of its purification power left it with pratically no stamina;

This allowed the hunters to make their strike and catch it with nets and ropes;

Kelly could feel the legendary's pain and fear, so much so that she could feel it physically just like it was when she first met Starry the deoxys;

Desperate to save Suicune, Kelly threw an Ultra Ball at the Legendary and caught it;

She called Aki back and brought Seiji the samurott and Lancelot the Toxicroak to the battle and rear;

The two of her childhood friends, putting aside their shock that she managed to catch a legendary, told her to go get help and prioritize the pokémon;

Leaving Ingo and Emmet to fight the hunters, Kelly fled to take Suicune to the nearest Pokémon Center, but tripped and dropped her Poké Ball, allowing Suicune to broke out of the poké ball;

It went into a nearby grotto to recover, so Kelly began to care for it alone, tending to its wounds and feeding the pokémon with some berries to restore its stamina;

But the hunters Ingo and Emmet were dealing with were just a few low rank underlings in the group and that's when the higher-ups showed up.

When the hunters showed up again, Kelly had enough of their bullshit;

It wasn't the first time she'd witnessed the cruelty of some humans and it definitely wouldn't be the last as long as she lived;

She promptly went to battle the hunters, even Aki the Entei broke out of its Poké Ball to join in;

Suicune witnessed Kelly's selfless actions to protect it, and agreed to fight alongside her, quickly defeating the hunters and freezing them in a block of ice, allowing Officer Jenny to apprehend them;

With the hunters arrested, Kelly offered to release Suicune so it could continue its journey, but opted to continue being her Pokémon;

Aki the entei could not contain a smug comment saying that its fellow legendary made the right choice in deciding to have Kelly as its trainer;

Aki has seen Kelly grow up and be educated as a kind soul, just like the woman it chose as its trainer is;

Not to mention that regardless of being a legendary, they are treated just like other pokémon, of course they have some specific care, but being treated normally brought a very welcoming and satisfying feeling.

Kin, the raikou (gender unknown)

Move set: Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Scald, Toxic, Calm Mind, Hidden Power, Shadow Ball, Aura Sphere, Agility, Light Screen.

Ability: Inner Focus

Some Higher-ups and underlings from Team Rocket were sent on a mission;

They were using some invention to attract Electric-type Pokemon and then use the same invention to forcibly extract electricity from their bodies;

Knowing that this would attract their target a huge storm formed;

And from the storm came another legendary, Raikou came to their rescue;

The Legendary freed the Electric-type Pokémon from the object that Team Rocket was using.

With Raikou there, they turn on another device to protect themselves from Raikou's electrical attacks.

When Raikou was defeated, Kelly who was in another tournament and came to train in the forests with her pokémon intervened to prevent Team Rocket from harming Raikou further;

Even Starry the deoxys broke out of its Poké Ball to help, maybe even get a chance to vent the anger it been harboring for years over how they used their core to lure Amaya the rayquaza;

After defeating Team Rocket's Higher-ups they managed to flee leaving the underlings to be captured;

Raikou was still injured and when Kelly offered to help it, Raikou shot some electricity at her;

Kelly was almost hit if not for Starry protecting her from more electrical blasts,

At that moment Nil, the Suicune broke out of its Poké Ball as well and the same as Aki, the Entei;

Seeing two familiar faces and the way they expressed that Raikou could trust her allowed Kelly to help its recover;

Raikou was taken to a Pokemon Center where it would recover.

After Raikou was almost fully healed, the thunder legendary pokémon escaped the Pokémon Center for a smal stroll around the area and during the night received a visit from Aki and Nil;

And let's say they had a long night of talking;

The next day, Kelly had woken up with the two legendary beastly Pokémon sleeping along side her and heard a strange noise and in her half-asleep state she saw Raiko rummaging through her backpack;

She was still casually sleepy and just mumbled “Uh, it's just you” before lying down and going back to sleep;

That is until she sat up in bed in a screech upon realizing what was happening while the thunder pokémon just casually lifted its head with a vacant ultra ball in its mouth;

When asked what its was doing here, Raiko just casually placed the pokeball on the edge of the bed near her feets and nuzzled it to expand it and tapped it a second time to activate the capture system and allow itself to be caught;

Leaving a certain trainer and pop idol stunned by the situation;

Being Kelly's Pokémon, it proves to be a cuddle bug and acts like a lap Pokémon;

Kin also learned to be quite sassy like Kelly and "verbally" annihilate with well-argued remarks throuth smug glares;

Kelly is its savior and beloved trainer, anyone who tries to hurt or humiliate her will be lucky to be morally destroyed and not struck by lightning.

Luna, the [shiny] umbreon (female♀)

Move set: Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball, Mean Look, Tackle, Swift, Confusion, Heal Bell, Protect, Psychic, Snarl

Ability: Inner Focus

Luna is another pokémon that has been raised by Kelly since it was an egg;

Kelly was on her journey when she came across a pokemon nursery and couldn't gush over the cuteness of the baby pokemon;

The nursery was also responsible for taking care of pokémon eggs;

When she was spotted by one of the owners they offered to show her around;

After making sure she wouldn't be a nuisance she accepted the invitation but also offered to help;

Coincidentally, there was an employee who had fallen ill and had communicated that he would not be able to attend work for at least two days;

Well, Kelly readily offered help and she had a rare opportunity to be able to interact with several pokémon eggs;

It was a little paradise that she was having so much fun every second;

Only to be disturbed when some of Team Rocket's grunts simply attacked trying to steal the daycare's Pokémon and eggs;

As expected this infuriated Kelly who volunteered to battle them and stop their selfish actions;

And as usual they got their asses kicked and handed over to the authorities;

As a thank you, the daycare owners gave her a pokémon egg, a shiny Eevee named Luna was born from it and so evolved into an umbreon.

Poppy, the togepi (female♀)

Moveset: Sweet Kiss, Heal Bell, Dazzling Gleam, Metronome, Safe guard

Ability: Serene Grace

Like Luna, Poppy was a present, but this time as a birthday present from Opal;

It had been on her birthday before going on a big tour since she moved to Galar and even though they live in Motostoke, both Opal and Isabel are great friends and the Gym Leader has really taken to Kelly;

So much so that Opal went so far as to contact pokemon breeders in Johto to get a pokémon egg;

Poppy was born in the last weeks of the tour and again Kelly was the first living being that the little newborn pokémon saw, considering her as her mother;

Poppy is currently Kelly's youngest pokémon, still being a baby she is always with Kelly even though she is not one of the pokémon for battle team or the Pokéband;

Poppy is particularly fond of Leon and likes him a lot, so both trainers' mutual friends likes to making jokes that the Champ and the Idol are Poppy's parents (and making Raihan jealous).

Persephone, the houndoom (female♀)

Moveset: Fire Fang, Flame thrower, Fire Blast, Dark Pulse, Sludge Bomb, Headbutt, Counter, Bite, Thunder Fang, Roar

Ability: Flash Fire

Kelly first met Persephone when the girl had gotten lost in a forest after being chased by an ursaring that was luckily eluded after an hour of chasing;

Because of a storm she had to take shelter in a cave;

In it she found a Houndor, who was injured and sick and had been abandoned by the pack that had given up on her;

Being able to feel the pokémon's suffering Kelly tried to approach only to be almost hit by a flamethrower;

She could feel the pain, the fear the Houndor was having;

In an attempt to persuade the pokémon to accept help, from Kelly simply sitting at a safe distance after leaving some pokémon food and berries to help ease the pain a little;

Kelly just watched from afar while humming a few songs to try to convey her sincerity in wanting to help the pokémon;

It took a while, but Kelly gained Persephone's trust and was able to at least give it the first aid and try to take it to the nearest pokémon center;

With proper care and recovery, the houndor was ready for release;

But instead of leaving, the pokémon just approached and sat in front of Kelly;

She felt the pokémon's feelings of gratitude, but also the desire to follow beside her;

Welcoming her into her team and gave her the name Persephone which came from a romance story she once read in a manga;

Now days, Persephone is not a pokémon often used in battles or participates in some championships, but it is commonly seen alongside Kelly as a bodyguard pokémon;

She is a very intelligent pokémon, knows how to act to defend her trainer without causing scandals or something that some manic paparazzi or an unethical journalist tries to write a distorted article about having been attacked by one of the pokémon of an idol or influencer of great importance like Kelly;

But that doesn't stop her from looking at someone like she's about to snatch said person's soul, especially given Kelly's bad luck finding a worthy boyfriend who isn't a boor.

Rebeca, the tyranitar (female♀)

Move set: Hyper Beam, Dark Pulse, Earthquake, Fire Punch, Stone Edge, Fire Fang, Sandstorm, Seismic Toss, Dragon Tail, Rock Slide

Ability: Sand Stream

Kelly met Rebeca when she was still a newborn larvitar during her stay in Professor Oak's lab to learn more about Kanto's Pokémon;

Rebeca's mother was a Tyranitar rescued from smugglers and luckily they managed to rescue both the mother pokémon and her clutch of eggs;

As part of rehabilitation prior to release, they were placed under the care of Professor Oak;

Due to what happened at the hands of smugglers, mama Tyranitar didn't trust anyone, but just accepted that she would live in the lab long enough to recover and the necessary until her little ones could follow the journey;

Much to the pokémon's chagrin one of the little larvitar had attached itself to the trainer, but she wouldn't throw a tantrum about it as she grudgingly accepted that there was no malice in Kelly's intentions (Mama Tyranitar is a tsundere);

But as petty idiots never learn, some other grunts from the same group of smugglers who captured the mother Tyranitar broke into the lab during the night in order to at least capture the larvitar brood;

They managed to catch only one of the litter and it was precisely the one that had become attached to Kelly;

During the escape, they were trying to escape with a hot air balloon when they were intercepted by a hyper beam from the mama Tyranitar who, in an attempt to save one of her children, just sent the little into a fall that would certainly be deadly for a pokémon of a few weeks;

That was until surprisingly Kelly ran to help the little pokémon, taking momentum after climbing a small rock to jump and managed to save the little one in time;

The little larvitar was fine and without a scratch, but we must say that the landing was not the best for Kelly who had landed on the left shoulder that she dislocated;

The authorities arrived in time and dealt with the rest while Kelly made sure the little Pokémon was okay;

Kelly even got a good scolding from Mama Tyranitar for being so reckless (and later from her mother when Professor Oak called Isabel);

The young trainer received treatment to deal with her dislocated shoulder and spent a few days at the city clinic before being discharged;

When she returned to the laboratory to give news to Professor Oak, she found the mama Tyranitar and the larvitar brood waiting for her;

They were ready to leave, but not before the mother Tyranitar had a conversation with Kelly saying that after everything happened she trusted the human enough to let one of her children stay with the trainer;

This fact took Kelly by surprise as that larvitar who was very attached to the young pokémon trainer;

Despite the stupor Kelly promised to take good care of that larvitar, the mama Tyranitar knew that and with that she left with the rest of the litter;

The little Larvitar received the name “Rebeca” and despite when it evolved into a pupitar and later into Tyranitar, it continued to be a very loving cuddle bug with both Kelly and her family and her friends;

But you can't say the same for Haters or Kelly's jerks exes who hurt her so much.

Anitta, the [shiny] ariados (female♀)

Move set: Spider web, Poison sting, Shadow Ball, Slugde Bomb, Scary Face, String Shot, Pin missile, Poison Jab, Night Shade, Electroweb

Skill: Sniper

Anitta was the first Johto pokémon that Kelly caught, at the time she was a small wild Spinarak living around her grandparents' Poké Ball workshop;

Kelly was traveling around Ecruteak and decided to visit her grandparents when she spotted the little spinarak watching the girl's grandfather working on an order of apricorn poké balls;

The way the pokémon observed her grandfather's painstaking work it was clear to Kelly that the little arachnid Pokémon has an interest in crafts;

It was then that she caught the pokémon's attention, without distracting her grandfather and started talking to the arachnid;

Something they both have in common, Kelly also loves crafts and this has helped the two get closer;

During the time that Kelly stayed with her grandparents, she became very close to the spinarak, dubbing her “Anitta” who even got some handcrafted gifts like a hanging bed where the little arachnid pokémon loved to take some naps;

When it was time for Kelly to continue her journey in Johto, the little one wanted to go along and asked her to be her trainer;

Accepting the request of the pokémon Kelly made her first capture in Johto and a new friend;

Anitta is not a combat pokémon, she likes to live quietly keeping company with Kelly and Isabel and they are partners in crafts;

But Anitta totally traps in her web some lunatic fan who tries to brake in Kelly's house, her trainer's home is her nest and no one is going to disturb its peace.
