30 Questions about Seiyuu (2022 Edition)
Day 1
"Your favourite male seiyuu?" @natsthinkitythinkthinkthonk (tagged bc they asked :3)
江口拓也 Eguchi Takuya
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If anyone knows my blog by now or just took a glance at my bio, it wouldn't be a surprise that I chose him for this 🥰💛
No idea where to begin with him. I've voiced my opinions about him and love for him over the past 5 years so I honestly have no more words to say other than I love him as a seiyuu and as a person. His talents know no bounds be it voice acting, designing clothing, live acting, modeling, professional writing, music writing, singing, live music performances, dancing,,, the list goes on.
As a senpai, he's one of the sweetest and kindest in the industry. In the past, I've said how I love that the way his kouhais show affection and appreciation and love for him is heavily teasing him,, borderline "bullying" him 💀 but truthfully, just joking around and being sarcastic with one another. And I resonate with that. That's one way to show just how close you are with another person. And being able to playfully poke fun at someone shows just how much you know about them and how close you are to them.
As a kouhai, he's still the punching bag, too 😂 ,,, maybe it's worse? Honestly, I don't keep track. His relationships with his senpais are strong because he knows how to take care of them and have fun with them while also maintaining his respect for them (and let them tease you nonstop)
HIs personality is one that I've come to love a lot too. I just love his dorky, clumsy self a lot. AND HIS LAUGH.
youtube
I remember when I first heard it I was like '...that's not real, is it?' and then as I kept hearing it, it just became a part of him that was very endearing to me. Don't ask me why,, that's just how it is. It's just another part of him that makes him him and that alone makes me love it and him all the more. Also it's an indication that he's happy and having a good time, which then makes me happy and have a good time with whatever I'm watching/listening to like a radio, seiyuu event of any kind etc etc.
ANYWAY enough of this sappy rant 😅
All in all, I love Egu very very much. He'll forever be my seiyuu oshi until the day I die 💜

"[I have the most fun] when I'm sleeping."
- Enoki Junya, 2022
[Video translation + Facts revealed about Enojun under the cut!]
Event Name: Talking Stand Morinoth (Morikubo and Amasaki's talk show)
Rough Translation:  { Key: E = Enojun, M = Morikubo, A = Amasaki }
E: When do you feel happiest or when you have the most fun?  M: You’re asking us (as the guest)? On the other hand, what about you? When do you feel the most fun, other than when you’re working?  E: What time's the most fun… I wonder what it is…Well, somewhat… M: You don’t drink alcohol either do you?  E: Well, I have the most fun when I’m sleeping maybe.  M, A: When you’re sleeping?! E: Like a (refreshing) 15-minute nap, something like that– Ah, but I’m not conscious at that time.  A: Is that really "fun"? E: Ahh that’s not really “fun” is it… Ah but–I’m not a huge movie buff–but I do enjoy going to the cinema alone. You can momentarily forget about everything while you’re in there.
Revealed Facts:
Enojun's Personal interests:
- is into movies like "Back to the Future", "Drive My Car"; and director Yasujiro Ozu’s works  - loves ramen, but is worried about calories (in Yuuma's radio show he brings up his worries about becoming fatter with age too) - doesn’t drink alcohol  - wanted to be a basketball athlete as a kid - likes teaching children, would read manga and watch shows for children to learn from them - [when teased, Enojun: "I'm not a lolicon!"] - studied to be a teacher for children in university; but pursued a path in the entertainment industry during his second year - would love to have kids eventually, but also values his alone time [Morikubo: “Choose one side already!] - loves theatre and acting till now (prefers acting in smaller and more compact theatres) - doesn’t care much about earning lots of money; more focused on life fulfilment
2. In his youth:
- was in Kendo and Baseball clubs - used to collect Yugi-Oh cards in primary school (gave them all away now to children who were interested)  - parents used to tease that his older brother is the good child, so Enojun must be the "bad kid"
3. As a voice actor:
- told his parents he would become seiyuu in 3 years (made it just in time with a regular role in Beyblade) - originally planned to be an actor, but felt that he won't measure up physically (being a seiyuu was a much more possible option to him)  - used to practice lines from manga during his free time at the convenience store he was part-timing at (and felt embarrassed by it)  - likes the challenge of trying to nail a role (esp at the start when everything is uncertain, and there's potential for everything)  - interested in pursuing a career in cinema, but not right now - praised by Morikubo as being "true neutral" -- he is able to adapt to anything/any side with ease - has thought about quitting as a seiyuu before; if it becomes a "boring" job  - would become an Explorer/Adventurer if he quits -- Amasaki  & Morikubo fully support this venture - The three of them now have plans to go camping + the director teased for them to release an "Adventure DVD" [ngl I'd watch that]

Q. What is something you absolutely do not want to let go of?
Tumblr media
Iwamoto: Things who have fought beside me. Like the shoes I wore for “SASUKE”, or the chalk I used for climbing. It might be ordinary things for other people but it’s something I can’t throw away because of the experiences that only I and a few people know. I have a lot of tabi socks that I now don’t know which socks I used at which time (laughs).
Fukazawa: I thought about saying something good, but I won’t say it (laughs). It’s my trading cards. I display it on a showcase-like shelf, and I feel healed when I look at it from time to time. I take care of my cards by placing a drying agent so that the cards won’t get damaged by the heat! The number of cards I own is already unknown. I have a lot!
Raul: The people around me. Unlike material things and money, I think the relationship I built with people for a long time is very precious. I have no experience but it’s said that when it disappears, you lose it in an instant. That’s why I always want to interact with the people important to me with a pure heart.
Watanabe: Skincare products. Just when I think I won’t wear more clothes, someone gives me clothes; even though I can dispose of my clothes. I have a lot of toners that I bought thinking I’d use them but ended up not using them.  There is no expiration date written so we don’t know if the ingredients have already deteriorated. There are a lot of times when I can’t throw the toners away because I end up thinking that I might still be able to use them.
Mukai: This is such a deep question. Un, maybe my original intent? I like the “me” who does all my jobs without thinking “Ah-, this job again”, and feels nervous each time I’m working. I do think it would be better if hands stop shaking though. I want to stay as a “me” who isn’t used to the work, and I think this feeling is something I would need along the way.
Abe: What I immediately thought of is Snow Man. Aside from that, then maybe knowledge? One of my favorite sayings is “Knowledge is an asset that no one can take away”. I’d like to think that it is something of value and something I can use to my advantage. But in reality, there are a lot of things I forget no matter how hard I study (laughs).
Meguro: My time for myself. No matter how busy I am, I don’t like it when I just sleep once I get home and the next day comes in an instant. Even if I have to take some of my sleeping time, I want time to turn off my switch and do things like play games before I sleep. By doing that, I will be able to feel the passing of each day in a distinguished way and without gaps (versus losing a sense of time).
Miyadate: This is a bit different from “what I don’t want to let go of”, but I want to leave and keep the surname “Miyadate”.  It’s a rare surname that apparently there are only 260 people with it in the whole country, and the only people I’ve met with the same surname are my relatives. It’s something that I will talk about my whole life as Miyadate Ryota, and I think it’s something I will spread to the world from now on.
Sakuma: Snow Man. It would be nice if I could be in Snow Man my whole life. But in a positive way, I want to challenge my seiyuu work without the group’s name. I want to do my seiyuu work properly. That’s why I want people who hear me go “I wonder who this is?” and search for me. This is my ideal way for people to know me.

MY TOP ANIME FOR SUMMER 2022
Summer season is almost over and so are some of the anime series that I've watched for these past 3 months! There's not much "mainstream" anime this season which gave opportunity to some series. I tend to give almost every series a try anyway and these are some that I enjoyed watching.
6. HATARAKU MAOU-SAMA!! [THE DEVIL IS A PART-TIMER! 2ND SEASON]
Tumblr media
I loved the first season of this anime so I already have some bias regarding this series. I'm even reading the manga so I kinda have some idea of what to expect with the anime. This would have ranked higher but I didn't like the animation that much compared with the first season. I guess that's bound to happen if it took almost a decade to create the next season. Another bias? Voice actor. I love Maou's seiyuu, Oosaka Ryouta. Yes, I've watched a lot of anime simply because of the seiyuu, so sue me!
5. ORIENT: AWAJISHIMA GEKITOU-HEN
Tumblr media
The author of this series is the same author of Magi, Ohtaka Shinobu. As for me, I haven't watched Magi yet so I'm not expecting anything from this anime when I first started watching the first season. I only realized these shows were made by the same author when I read the manga. I prefer the art style of the manga way better but anime also did not disappoint in my opinion. I also love Naotora and Kanetatsu so there's that. I read some reviews saying they got disappointed midway because they were expecting it would be as good as Magi. But I've only watched 2 or 3 episodes of Magi and kinda stopped so this didn't stop me from continuing watching the anime and even reading the manga.
4. ISEKAI OJISAN [UNCLE FROM ANOTHER WORLD]
Tumblr media
I already got hooked on the first episode and I am still waiting for the next episode to come for this series. I'm not a gamer and I'm not even familiar with what they're talking about when it comes to games but I still enjoyed it anyway. I guess this is one of the reasons why I loved it. It doesn't alienate people who are not familiar with the game jargon as it also focuses on Ojisan's journey in the alternate world. Also, Ojisan's interactions with the female characters from the other world are pure gold and definitely hilarious. Despite some tragic experiences here and there, the series managed to present them in a manner that would not make you feel depressed.
3. YOFUKASHI NO UTA [ CALL OF THE NIGHT]
Tumblr media
I was already reading the manga when I learned that this will get animated. The night sceneries in the anime were so epic in every episode. The atmosphere kinda reminds me of Bakemonogatari series. I like the relationship between the main characters and I can kinda relate to the male protagonist. The story features vampires but it's not really something that can be compared to other vampire stories. Yes, Kou wants to be a vampire but he can only be one if he falls in love with Nazuna, which is a challenge because he's yet to experience it for the first time. Nazuna's past hasn't been revealed yet and I also stopped reading the manga. I will probably continue after the anime ends.
2. YOUKOSO JITSURYOKU SHIJOU SHUGI NO KYOUSHITSU E 2ND SEASON [CLASSROOM OF THE ELITE 2ND SEASON]
Tumblr media
I already fell in love with this series when I watched the first season and I'm really thankful that the second season was made. If you've watched the first season, you already know that the male lead, Ayanokouji is trying to hide what he is truly capable of. He's quite a strategist and manipulative but his severe lack of emotion is what makes him a very interesting character. The anime only managed to show some glimpses of his past and some of the other students in Class D so I'm still dying to know if this is his nature or simply what he became due to his environment. I'd probably plan to read the light novel if ever I decided that the anime is not enough for me to satisfy my curiosity.
KUMICHOU MUSUME TO SEWAGAKARI [THE YAKUZA'S GUIDE TO BABYSITTING]
Tumblr media
With the number of posts I made for this anime, I guess it's kinda obvious that this will be my number one. This anime never really managed to catch my attention until my sister told me about it. So my sister was like, "Aren't you gonna watch that anime with the Yakuza taking care of a kid?" and I was like, "What is that?? So cute! I'd definitely watch it!". Yeah, I know, it's typical but I really love the bad guy + cute kid combo. But setting that aside, there are a lot of aspects to love about this anime. If you hadn't noticed, the Yakuza characters here are kinda hot. Hah! And get this, they're better in manga. LOL. I also love Kirishima's relationship with the other characters. His best friend is his gay classmate and he's his "guardian angel". If that's not such a wonderful relationship, then I don't know what it is. He has his big brother Aoi and his little brother Sugihara and Kumichou and his wife is kinda like his parents! And he has his little angel, Yaeka! It's always amazing to watch how Kirishima can act disrespectful to others but would always switch to Keigo speech when talking to her. The last episode was kinda bittersweet but I still loved it anyway. So if you're looking for a slice of life, full of fluff and a bit of angst anime, then is definitely recommended!
There are still some other anime that I managed to finish this season. They're all good anime but I just decided to mention these 6. There are some that I decided I'll just watch some other time so I guess you could say that these are the series that managed to keep me waiting week after week just so I can watch one episode. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

10 Years of Aikatsu!
The first Aikatsu TV series aired on TV Tokyo on the 8th of October 2012. 2022 marks 10 years of the Aikatsu franchise and what a journey has been for the franchise. From Ichigo Hoshimiya's goal to become Starlight Academy's top idol to Hana's road to becoming Aikatsu Planet's top idol, five installments showcased the ups and downs of our favorite school idols.
Time to hop into the "lucky train", kids, because it's time for a quick history lesson on the Aikatsu franchise! Let's begin!
Tumblr media
Aikatsu! (2012) - The saga began on the 8th of October, 2012, when Bandai launched the Aikatsu! franchise. which are made to appeal the little girls in the form of the TV series aired on TV Tokyo and the DATA CARDDASS arcade game where players can play as their favorite characters from the series or create their own character and take on a series of challenges to win Aikatsu cards to personalize their idols. The TV series centers on the life and times of Ichigo Hoshimiya, a middle-school student who wants to become an idol, just like the renowned Mizuki Kanzaki. That's why she, and Aoi Kiriya, are enrolling at the prestigious Starlight Academy to begin their journey.
Throughout the series, they've met various characters in the academy such as Ran Shibuki, Otome Arisugawa, Yurika Todo, Sakura Kitaoji, Kaede Ichinose, and others, all have in common in the academy; to become the best idols in the class.
What's unique about the Aikatsu franchise is that the singing voices of the characters are different from the seiyuus who did the dialogue for them. As a matter of fact, STAR☆ANIS, the singing group was responsible for the songs from the show. They even held concerts where they performed most of the songs from the TV show as well.
In the second season, the girls from Starlight Academy are facing the students from the rival idol school known as Dream Academy. Seira Otoshiro, Sora Kazesawa, Kii Saegusa, and Maria Himesato came from Dream Academy for some matters with the Starlight girls. Later on, with differences settled, Ichigo and Seira teamed up to form 2wings to take on WM, which comprises the school alum Mizuki and rising star Mikuru Natsuki. Apart from them, this season introduces the young Akari Ozora, who idolizes Ichigo and became the girl we know in the third season.
The third and final season of Aikatsu, labeled the Akari Generation arc of the series, centers on Akari Ozora as the main character of the series, and with Akari replacing Ichigo as the main character of the final season, Akari's accompanied by her new friends Sumire Hikami and Hinaki Shinjo on their journey to become the academy's top idols, no matter what lays ahead of them. She's a changed girl since we first met her in an earlier season.
The final season introduces us to another Aikatsu-related singing group named AIKATSU☆STARS, which, like STAR☆ANIS, is responsible for the songs from the final series.
Throughout the tenure of the original Aikatsu series, they have spawned two films such as Aikatsu the Movie and Aikatsu Music Awards, featuring storylines never seen in the TV series, giving fans a more enjoyable experience in the franchise.
Aikatsu Stars! (2016) - As the original Aikatsu series ended in the end of March 2016, its successor story, Aikatsu Stars!, was launched. , Aikatsu Stars centers on a brand new story of friends Yume Nijino and Rola Sakuraba as they are going to fulfill their quest to become the school's finest idols in the same way the four elite students, called the S4, did with their pride and prestige. Using their Aikatsu Cards, the stage is theirs to amaze the spectators.
The second season sees Yume Nijino's role as one of the members of S4 has been tested when the Venus Ark pays a visit, giving her a brand new challenge to take on. Traveling around the world on the Venus Ark, they've collected the best and brightest students from across the globe to nurture them into elite students unleashing the full capabilities of their talents. For Yume and the others, this is a challenge because they've been to the belly of the beast during the long summer months while reuniting with Koharu. This season introduces the Star Premium Rare dress, a powerful kind of dress representing the planets of the solar system and once all nine SPRs have been unleashed, the legendary Sun dress will be unleashed, and whoever possesses it promises the ultimate power.
It was first aired on TV Tokyo in the spring of 2016 to 2018 for 100 episodes and aside from the TV series, there was a movie version of Aikatsu Stars shown in the summer of 2016. The similarly named AIKATSU☆STARS from the final Aikatsu season has returned to perform songs from this series as well.
Aikatsu Friends! (2018) - After Aikatsu Stars ended in the spring of 2018, its successor, Aikatsu Friends!, took over and the third installment breaks away from the tradition because, for the first time, the seiyuu behind the characters are responsible for the songs on the series. Anyway, this series highlights the life and times of Aine Yuki and Mio Minato, two friends who are destined to be the best friends among the rest. This is about the rise and fall and reborn of the duo they formed as Pure Palette and how their road to the Diamond Friends Cup was tested by numerous rivals among the way.
The second season of Aikatsu Friends!, titled Aikatsu Friends! Kagayaki no Jewel, introduces fans to the brand new Jeweling Dress feature where the chosen ones will unleash their brilliance onstage. At the beginning of the second season, the Pure Palette girls accepted Hibiki Tensho’s mission to reunite with her old friend Alicia Charlotte, the crown princess of the Principality of Solvette. The second season features the new Jeweling Dress system and these new Premium Rare dresses add power to their live performances.
The show lasted for about 76 episodes.
Aikatsu On Parade! (2019) - Aikatsu on Parade! is the most ambitious crossover of the Aikatsu franchise, highlighting seven years of Bandai's hit children's franchise that wooed kidults all over Japan. The biggest Aikatsu crossover stars Raki Kiseki and the Pure Palette in their cross-dimensional adventure across the entire franchise, meeting iconic characters, performing iconic songs, and in due course, finding out what's going on with the cross-dimensional crisis that saw every single Aikatsu character popping up to a different world without reason. The show lasted for 26 episodes on TV, followed by a web anime highlighting Noeru Otoshiro, the sister of Seira, as she's representing Dream Academy in the ultimate battle of the schools.
Aikatsu Planet! (2021) - Aired on TV Tokyo from January to June 2021, Aikatsu Planet is the fourth installment of Bandai Namco's Aikatsu franchise that breaks apart from the franchise traditions. The newest installment is a mix of live-action J-drama (tokusatsu, if you like to refer) and anime sequences and instead of cards, Aikatsu Planet uses the swing system where avatars use swings to tame mysterious creatures known as Dressias, possessing wonderful outfits to use on stage battles. This series is about Mao Otoha, also known as Hana in Aikatsu Planet, and her goal is to become Aikatsu Planet's top idol. A year after the series finale, the movie version of the Aikatsu Planet arrived on July 15, 2022, picking up moments after the series finale.
And there you have it. 10 years of the Aikatsu franchise from the original to Aikatsu Planet, from Ichigo Hoshimiya to Hana. What a wonderful journey this series has been but now that we no longer see them on television and the Aikatsu Planet arcade game ending its service very soon, we don't really know what's next for the Aikatsu franchise.
Anyway, happy 10th anniversary to the Aikatsu franchise!

REVIEW: Do It Yourself!! is Objectively Perfect But Not Made For Me
Tumblr media
Season aired: Fall 2022
Number of episodes: 12
Watched on: Crunchyroll
Translated by: ?
Genres: Slice-of-Life, Comedy
Thoughts: When I asked the Anime Trending community to choose two additional anime from the Fall season for me to review, I was surprised to see that Do It Yourself!! dominated the options. Despite the relative silence on social media and its non-appearance on our anime charts, it is clear that the anime has struck a chord with a large enough crowd to win one of the two review slots I had opened.
Do It Yourself!! follows Serufu, a clumsy girl whose head is more often in the clouds than in reality. During one of her accidents, a senpai from her school helps her out by fixing her bike. Later, Serufu learns that the senpai is the president of a DIY club. Interest piqued, Serufu decides to join the club. Despite her tendency to hurt herself, Serufu is determined to master the many DIY projects the club has to offer — bandages and bruises aside!
Do It Yourself!! objectively has the makings of a perfect cute-girls-doing-cute-things anime. Its cast is colorful and wholesome with distinctive personalities and designs that make them all easy to tell apart. When the girls begin to chop wood, hammer nails, or tear materials apart, the animation is accurate to the point that real-life DIY lovers have commented on its realistic fluidity. The music is simple yet accompanies the relaxing atmosphere perfectly. In fact, the anime outperforms technically with interesting visual choices such as portraying scenes at unusual angles or scene shifts that feel like cameras shifting from one person to the other.
Tumblr media
However, I didn’t enjoy the anime as much as I thought I would. While the girls are as adorable as they need to be in this genre, I didn’t feel they changed much throughout the series. Serufu learns to develop and improve on her DIY skills, but her head remains in the clouds, and she’s still constantly prone to accidents. Rei (the DIY club’s president), Takumi (Serufu’s classmate and friend), and Kokoro (a foreign student with a wild side) don’t change at all.
I still found myself disconnected from the two characters who had character arcs. Miku, also known as Purin in the anime, is the tsundere best friend of Serufu who begins the anime upset at the protagonist for going to another school. However, her path to reconciling with the main character feels contrived since Serufu remains unchanged in the areas that drove Miku up the wall in the first place. Her petty anger for Serufu “abandoning” her by going to another school also feels unreasonable since Serufu actually tried to get into the same school as Miku and wasn’t able to get in.
Jobko, the child genius from America who transferred in for a single school year, has the best arc. Because she’s a literal child, she begins the series throwing fits, lashing out at others, and not properly communicating what she wants. She never loses her childishness as the actual baby of the group, but with the help of the girls, she does grow emotionally by no longer throwing fits and learning how to communicate with others better.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, her satisfying arc wrapped up relatively early in the series, leaving an overall lack of development from the other characters. Additionally, her dialogue throws in gratuitous English that only takes me out of the show whenever she talks. Part of Jobko’s communication challenge is that she’s not perfectly fluent in Japanese, as she is a fluent English speaker from America. However, this realistic conflict loses its effect when the English sounds obviously not fluent, especially when it is central to her character.
As a whole, all the seiyuus sounded stilted. Kokoro’s voice in particular was grating because her character trope was “cat-like.” Ending every other sentence with “nyan” was simply too much for me to handle, and there was little change in tone or emotion to her lines. Kana Ichinose does the best of the cast to embody Miku’s character arc, but even her emotional expressions can feel repeated when Miku, as a character, cycles through wanting to forgive Serufu, seeing Serufu having fun without her, and getting tsundere-upset at Serufu.
On the other hand, the anime does effectively convey that its purpose isn’t to show characters growing or changing. Its purpose is to show the joy behind discovering new hobbies and putting your heart into them regardless of the futility, and in that regard, it does succeed.
Tumblr media
This element is elevated through a unique decision in worldbuilding. Rather than having the story take place in a completely modern society, as CGDCT anime tend to do, the anime instead resides in a futuristic world between today and worlds we see in science fiction. The buildings, the food, the clothes, the toys, and the atmosphere are relatively unchanged, but the technology is beyond what we currently have. The buses are sleeker. There are cute animal robot butlers that take care of kids at home. The school that Miku goes to has desks that can fold and unfold into the ground, holographic screens, and 3D simulation equipment for students to take home and practice with. It’s a futuristic world that feels genuinely possible, keeping the story grounded, but also adding importance to the theme of DIY.
This is showcased visually when Miku’s technological school casts a literal shadow over the shed in which the DIY club convenes. With technology doing so much for everyone, people see little point in DIY projects. Both Miku and Jobko hold that initial perspective: DIY is a waste of time when technology can do it faster and more precisely. Effort should instead be put into furthering technology to make things even easier for people.
The anime reminds viewers that it is not the result that matters but the process and that losing that process also takes out the meaning in the end product. This theme is so successfully written that, despite my overall apathy towards the characters, I still managed to feel touched seeing the girls finally finish their collective passion project from the beginning of the series: the club treehouse.
Tumblr media
In other words, Do It Yourself!! is a good anime, but it isn’t an anime made for my tastes. It is undeniable that the overall lack of character development was purposeful and integral to one of its themes: the point of a hobby isn’t to change who you are but rather to utilize your strengths in ways that are encouraging and fun. It displays the importance of enjoying process — slow, fast, accidental, or purposeful — and how imperfections often look beautiful because of that process. It is a feat in production with its incredible animation and intelligent visual storytelling techniques. I just personally like stories more where the major characters grow and change, and for that reason, I couldn’t help but feel bored at certain points of the anime despite objectively understanding its depth.

Learn About the Cool Cute Cast
July 24, 2020 9:34 PM EST
Seven playable characters in Eiyuden Chronicle were detailed, but seeing the game’s legacy with Suikoden, over a hundred should be coming.
Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle was freshly announced for a Fall 2022 release by Rabbit & Bear Studios, made by ex Suikoden and Konami developers. Most notably, some of the JRPG’s main characters, and a few locations, were detailed in the Japanese press released of the game’s reveal. We’ve translated all the profiles below, but we highly recommend you to first read the first details on Eiyuden Chronicle and comments from the ex Suikoden developers in our previous article.
Note that the profiles will probably be officially translated via the game’s Kickstarter page, going live on July 27. Some names and terms might be officially spelt differently.
Name: Nowa Gender: male Age: 17 years old Origin: From a remote village of the Alliance Favorite food: Anything with meat Dialogue line: “Leen would always tell me to stop meddling in others’ business, but seems that’s an incurable illness. I’m going to help whether you like it or not. I don’t know if I can help, but I can’t stand there doing nothing.”
Nowa is a warrior from a remote village, he was hired by the Alliance for a joint mission with the Empire. During the mission, he ends up finding a mysterious artifact called a rune-lens.
Little did he know this event would ed up triggering the war between the Empire and the Alliance.
Later on, Nowa joins the guards of the Alliance.
Nowa is described as a reckless type of person, acting before thinking of the risks and consequences. He often meddles in other people’s business, but is still appreciated by his comrades, who know they could count on him when it matters the most.
(We don’t know who this “Leen” is yet).
Nowa is the player’s avatar, and can be renamed.
Name: Seign Kesling Gender: male Age: 18 years old Origin: An aristocratic family of the Galdean Empire Favorite food: Poached egg Dialogue line: “This world is cruel and cannot be changed with willpower alone. That’s why I swore I would never hesitate to throw away my ideals for a moment, if this would ultimately bring me closer to realizing them.”
Seign is the second son of the Kesling family. A talented young man who displayed exceptional results at the military academy. He was given command over a mission with a squadron made of mainly students, to look for rune-lenses. This is how he met the protagonist, Nowa. They became friends and told each other their hopes for the future.
His older brother was killed in battle during a rebellion in a remote region of the Empire. This event changed Seign’s life, making him learn the consequences of war.
Seign is a strategist who always sees the big picture, and as such is often misunderstood as a cold person. He keeps his emotions and passion in his heart.
Name: Melisa Gender: female Age: 16 years old Origin: The forest’s Guardians Favorite food: Herb Chicken Dialogue line: “Hahaha, I know everything about the forest. The water sources, where rabbits nest, and where the enemies would hide to ambush us”
Melisa’s family acts as the Guardians of the forest, and thus she was taught about her own mission as a Guardian very early in her childhood. She heartily smiles to her friends but turns into a true warrior when in battle. The Guardians live together with the forest, but do not reject culture and technologies from the outside world, developing independently while incorporating the good parts of said external influence. Even among the Guardians, Melisa has a very open-minded personality. She likes discovering new things, and loves anything cute.
The Guardians have been transmitting from generation to generation special technology when it comes to manipulating rune-lenses. As such, both the Alliance, whom the protagonist Nowa belongs to, and the Galdean Empire, are seeking to ally with the Guardians. Whomever the Guardians decide to stick with, this will be a major turning point in history.
Name: Marlridge Gender: male Age: 27 years old Origin: A naturalist Favorite food: Duck soup Dialogue line: ” “Let’s see, how about we just surrender? That’s the best thing we could do. …That’s not an option? Fine then, let me explain our second best option, how to win this battle.”
A young scholar specialized in natural history. He’s incredibly curious and wishes to know the reason behind Every Little Thing’s existence in the world.
He’s also a genius strategist, and will often save the protagonist and his friends thanks to his skills. However, Marlridge considers war as the most meaningless action done by mankind, and thus finds no value in his own talent as a strategist.
Name: Gaou Gender: male Age: 32 years old Origin: A warrior from a tribe of mercenaries Favorite food: Pancakes with tons of cream on top Dialogue line: “Being the leader and yet standing at the vanguard, rushing in by yourself. Anyone can tell how stupid this is. But that’s fine by me. Life is too short to always be boringly worrying about danger.”
A battlefield veteran, earning his life by participating in many battles. He was born on the battlefield, plans to fight all his life, and die on the battlefield.
The Beast tribe are considered the most ferocious warriors, as such mercenaries like him never run out of work. Mercenary contracts are made on an individual basis, so warriors from the same tribe can often end up fighting each other.
(I’m not paid enough for this, but I could still bet you my next paycheck that this guy is gonna be voiced by Tetsu Inada.)
Name: Liang Gender: female Age: 16 years old Origin: The daughter of a family of martial artists Favorite food: Ultra spicy ramen Dialogue line: ” Uuuh, I don’t really get this difficult stuff, but these random guys suddenly invaded us. So yeah! They’re bad guys!”
She left her home, angry at the Empire invading the Alliance, but didn’t think through about what she should do. She figured she’ll figure things out by reaching a big city, rushed to one, and thankfully ended up meeting the protagonist and friends.
Her family owns a dojo and puts martial arts above everything else, so she was taught how to fight by her father since her childhood. It is said she was able to jump and kick before being able to walk on her two legs.
Name: Mio Gender: female Age: 27 years old Origin: Somewhere from the far east Favorite food: Sasa dango Dialogue line: “Even if you follow a single path, you’re the one deciding where that path will lead”
A female warrior following the way of the sword. She has a stoic personality and often stays silent, only talking to challenge fellow warriors to test her skills.
Because Mio carefully picks her words, and only speaks when truly necessary, with sharp and pertinent remarks, she’s highly respected by her comrades. Sometimes she can be a bit of an airhead though.
There you have it. These are the seven characters revealed so far. Seeeing Eiyuden Chronicle is a successor to Suikoden, it’s highly likely there will be over a hundred playable characters in total. The subtitle Hundred Heroes hints at that too, as well as the screenshots revealed, included further below.
Yoshitaka Murayama is incredibly eager that he and all the others could finally announce the game, and spent some time on Twitter answering fans from all horizons. He most notably jokingly said he’ll “fight” with the rest of the team to include character portraits during dialogues.

Last but not least,  some artwork for some of the locations in the game were shared.
This here is the river town of Kinsha, and the second artwork depicts a seaside cave. Again, Eiyuden Chronicle flaunts its Suikoden vibes here. Screenshots of both locations can be found further below.
Eiyuden Chronicle is scheduled to launch on PC, and home consoles if Kickstarter stretch goals are met, in Fall 2022. Meaning it’ll be launching on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch.
If you’re a seiyuu nerd and an anime otaku share your predictions as to who could voice who in the comments.

30 Questions about Seiyuu (2022 Edition) Day 2
"Your least favourite male seiyuu?" @natsthinkitythinkthinkthonk
Uhhhh so for this one, I'm basing my opinion off of recent events.
I know that there are some people out there that think that 'you shouldn't connect seiyuu and character. you should keep them completely separate from each other' but for this question, my interpretation of it is that it's asking about who my least favorite voice actor is, not just based off of their acting but as a person as well.
I think it's obvious where I'm going with this and I made a randomly long rant so I'm just gonna put it under a cut. Read at your own discretion.
I gotta go with the men that have been wrapped up in scandals with confirmations that their alleged actions actually happened to some extent with photo evidence or bascially confirmed straight from their mouths when making apologies: Namikawa Daisuke, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Suzuki Tatsuhisa, Sakurai Takahiro (just gonna note that the latter 3 all happened one year after another,,, the seiyuu fandom can't get a break)
I haven't talked a lot about any of these on my blog but I will say this: with all of the objective and confirmed information that I had tried to obtain regarding all 4 seiyuu, it's been hard to even listen to their voices anymore because of how much of an uproar these scandals caused and how utterly scandalous each situation was. (Granted, I still support their characters and know that they're talented as seiyuu but if they were in an event, I'd just have a neutral reaction to their presence.)
As a budding seiyuu fan that had made the quick decision to deep dive into various seiyuu events, and radios, and any kind of interactions really, when they were but a few months or so into the fandom, it's not a surprise that characters and seiyuu were associated with each other.
I made it a huge point that I wanted to be able to recognize seiyuu with just breathing or barely saying anything. I took pride in that and I still do now. But doing so allowed me to begin to care about the person behind the voice. I got to (somewhat) know the people behind the voices,, rather, I got to know the façade that they showed during events and the personality that they know that fans would want to see.
And honestly, this can apply to any and all seiyuu. Any and all celebrities, in fact. Heck, even people that you'd know in real life. Everyone puts up façades, especially when they're at work, because they need to maintain a certain type of professionalism and respect.
In the case of these 4 seiyuu, despite the fact that their issues had been revealed to the public via tabloids/pesky journalism, they're still issues. And it made me, personally, realize that these men are capable of the things that caused the drama and outrage from all corners of the fandom.
In the end, first and foremost I hope that they had apologized to the women involved and made the most amends that they could in their personal lives. But also I just wish them well in their professional endeavors. After all, we should all just move on from this and decide how we want to support (or not support) these particular men.
