So we were talking about Paradise Lost in my English class, and I had to read some of it, and I’m not gonna lie, I kept thinking of the Decepticons while reading it, like I could see this fitting them
And we got to a point where we looked at the Fallen Angel painting because someone brought it up, and I wanted to talk about how I’ve seen people remake that piece with both Sentinel and Megatron, but I kept quiet
Because like, online here is one thing, but do you know how embarrassing it would be to compare Paradise Lost, one of the most significant works in English literature, to Transformers, which the average person knows as just a glorified toy commercial for kids and the Bay movies? Especially when people most likely wouldn’t have the context of Transformers One, which is what I was specifically thinking of here
Like my professor’s chill, she’d probably be fine with that, but I don’t think I could take that public shame

I'm honestly obsessed with omegaverse and sentinel-guide verse right now. Unlike the western take on it, which often revolves and devolves into coercive *claiming bite* (sexual assault), the ones I've seen on jjwxc (bc of heavy censorship lmao) often chooses to approach from a different aspect. There's obviously a heavy romance plot, but there's also an element of social commentary that is more than aware of the exploitative nature of the patriarchy.
As in, ultimately, they recognize that omegas, guides, and those who have the ability to give birth are exploited resources regardless of what identifiers they use. No matter if they're scarce, no matter if the narrative itself waxes poetic about how everyone has been conditioned and propagandized to consider them to be most important and valuable above all, there's always a stone cold consensus that omegas and guides, birth givers regardless of gender, only have rights should they have the power to enforce it. Otherwise, they're living on someone else's good graces.
It's been a long time since I gave up on Western media and literature, so I could just be soap boxing from a place of ignorance, but the main reason why I couldn't just *turn my brain off* and keep reading f/m/m/m, reverse harem shenanigans, or the whole, man from space has no more women so fmc is special and valuable wow(!) trope, is that in the pursuit of easily marketable smut, they leave out any meaningful commentary and self awareness at all from an ostensibly *smart! Empowered! Takes initiative* fmc pov.
What turns me off from going back into and investigating the newest novels and mediums, though, is the consistent disdain abo connoisseur's have against straight het abo. I always thought omegaverse was about exploring gender norms and biases. It's sexist, in my opinion, if people can only appreciate the flipped gender dynamic if the feminine qualities being presented is from a character that is still considered male within the context.
If anything, the pairing that I consider to be most suitable to examine and explore abo-cerse, sentinal guide verse from, is from someone who is *gender neutral*. Not in the sense of gender nonconforming presenting masculine, or just in petulant fashion rebellion, but just as a regular person isekaid from a non guide/non-abo world masquerading as a beta/null*, but still being able to make an impact.
The message being that gender norms are restrictive and unproductive as a whole, and they should move together forward as a society- but with that said, i do prefer if this gnc character is only considered gnc in the verse, but they themselves are women, so I do recognize my own hypocrisy in this lol.
Anyways, my point is that omegaverse, although it's supposed to be a queer space/fertile garden for exploring queer identities and escaping from heteronormative ideals and biases, still fall into those same gendered biases. Still fall into the same toxic trope of straight het romances. Still roll around in the mire of internalized hatred and prejudices, and yet they consider their pairings superior just as long as the omega isn't a woman?
Maybe it's just that Western literature hasn't progressed beyond the boring abo tropes, so i can understand the disdain, but as someone who HAS always found value in female lead female centric stories, it just smacks of unaddressed misogyny.

The thing with me and those powerscaling questions is not only do I find them annoying especially because sometimes it just opens up the floodgates of someone just being an absolutely hater instead of really thinking outside the box, but also you can't ask me those questions because I will answer with a question.
You can't ask me "who would win: Goku or Gojo".
I'm telling you you're going to get something like "win in what? Like in UNO?"

not a textbook pair | t, 1.5k, gen
a sentinel/guide au loosely inspired by a long-ago discord conversation
“Those textbooks and testimonials never mentioned how awkward it is to be expected to have sex with a guy you met two minutes ago.” There should’ve been entire chapters about it, really.

Sentinel or Guide?
For some of the muses written by: @sorrowssinger
Elves Maglor: Sentinel - a hidden one as everyone thinks he’s a Guide. Turgon: Guide - although he could be either. Elrond: Guide - no doubt about that! Erenion: Sentinel? - Little bit uncertain as I don’t really know enough about him if I’m honest.
Men Aragorn: Sentinel - OBVIOUSLY!!! 😅 Faramir: Guide - only a select few know this at his mother’s advice, although his brother knows Boromir: Sentinel. Anborn: Mundane - so he’s worked hard to get to where he is in the Ithilien Rangers Damrod: Feels like a Guide to me
Random one from your list Denethor: Dormant Sentinel - He was a Sentinel but his use of the Anor stone caused his abilities to shut down over time, until he finally went Dormant

@leschanceux sent: “I am here.” ( joe for nicky in the sentinel au bc i'm vibing rn )
ㅤㅤㅤNicolò is a being enveloped in Sound. Pounding hoofbeats crash over him like thunder, colliding with the shouts of foreign voices, the scrape of burlap on leather, the hiss of heat on sand, the screaming of the wind. It's all so far away (too far, too far) but at once it is also here, within the Sentinel, buffeting his senses like a rising tide, until ---
ㅤㅤㅤFrom somewhere in the cacophony, Joe's voice rings out to Nico, clearer than any bell. The other man's words shine like stepping stones in the darkness of the Sentinel's mind, luring him along a softly lit path designed to guide him back... back to...
ㅤㅤㅤWhere? Where was he? How far has Nicolò stretched his senses, chasing the sounds of bandits fleeing the village with their ill-gotten gains?
ㅤㅤㅤI. Am. Here. The beloved voice demands attention again, overruling any distraction. It Reminds Nico, redirects him, a welcome tug towards shore when all around the Sentinel roars like a raging river.
ㅤㅤㅤHe thinks he could put his hands on those words, if he tried. Feels the shape of them coaxing in his ears, the weight of them on his tongue. Sono qui. A mantra as familiar as the Bond. The more the Sentinel concentrates on the voice, the stronger it becomes, until he can pinpoint its source, until he can sense the Guide — his Guide — sitting alongside him.
ㅤㅤㅤNicolò inhales sharply, suddenly, pale eyes flashing open and seeking out Joe's face, “— Yusuf..” He croaks, and everything is smaller, the world has shrunk down to just the two of them at the edge of a smoldering town, to the pressure of his Guide's hand gripping his shoulder, the miniscule space between them. They're both breathing hard, as if they've been chasing the bandits themselves. In a sense, Nico supposes they have.
ㅤㅤㅤ“Was I... did I lose myself?” He asks, sobered to think it could have happened now, when they've worked so hard to keep him from slipping, to not revisit those earliest years between them when the Sentinel could barely be trusted not to lose focus in the middle of a fight. It's a wonder Nicolò had ever made it as far as al-Quds before his first death, with such tentative control over his heightened senses.
ㅤㅤㅤThe Genoan reaches up to wrap his fingers around Joe's wrist, feeling the jump of his pulse beneath his fingertips even as he focuses on the sound of the Guide's heartbeat. He blinks at the man to whom he has dedicated his life. "… I did not mean to worry you."

"Frost?" At first, the Second Class SOLDIER couldn't believe what he was hearing. Then, he burst out laughing. "You makin' a pun of my name there, Reno?"
Snow shook his head, giving the Turk a look with an amused mako-infused gaze.
"Look, if you're gonna go there, how about ya buy me a drink first?" He folded his arms, watching Reno curiously. "I don't go past first base until after a drink."

Take the Sentinels of the Multiverse route - every multiplayer game is canon to its own universe, and so is every lore tidbit. If two writers contradict each other it's just a different universe with a different take on the character.
Sentinels lore doesn't say that fanmade porn of the characters is canon, but there's no reason it can't be.
The constant rolling disaster that is Overwatch's game development aside, what really perplexes me about how Blizzard is handing the broader franchise is their continual insistence that a canon narrative exists in spite of their equally continual refusal to tell anyone what it is.
Like, okay, the events of the games aren't canon. Fair enough: the games are multiplayer-only, and you can't account for player actions.
Oh, and the animated short films aren't canon either – they're properly understood as in-universe propaganda, not depictions of actual events. That's a little high concept for you guys, but fine.
But surely the comics are canon, right? Well, no; some of the comics (we're not telling you which ones) were canon at one point, but the writing team has decided to go in a different direction.
My dudes, what is left? The weird Source Filmmaker porn? Is that canon? Well, apparently it's at least as canon as anything else!

Name: Virgil Lawrence
Alias: Boothill
Age: 38
Height: 6’9” (205 cm)
Path: The Hunt
Combat Type: Physical
Species: necromechanical revenant
Occupation: Galaxy Ranger
World: Cosmic | Aeragan-Epharshel
𝐈𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬?
Tragedy befell him, once. He buried the man he had been in the boothill, taking on the name of the grave to mark his passing. A lesser man might have been crushed by the weight of despair. And he had been, once. He is still familiar with the wretched shroud of desolation. But he has always been a man of action, choosing to raise his daughter in the same way his parents had raised him. It is this propensity for action, the drive for vengeance, that pushes him to make the choice to relinquish mortal flesh to become something else. The creature that rose from that burial ground is not Virgil Lawrence, it is Boothill.
He willingly sacrificed flesh and blood for the sake of revenge. He lived as an outlaw, before everything had changed so thoroughly and so suddenly. The law of the lawless land lies in the hand of the mighty. Virgil is no stranger to operating beyond the law nor is he unfamiliar with the violence that often accompanies strength. To that end, he will see to it that those that destroyed all he knew are destroyed in turn.
He's going to annihilate the IPC. He’s doing them a favor, if anything, by calling upon their destruction, becoming the arbiter for their extinction. Virgil knows the truth about the once familiar world. It isn't that he has noble intentions or had hopes of saving anyone from the horrors beneath the earth. It's a simple matter, ultimately. It takes a horror to know another horror.
So he becomes the beast, steel made more permanent than flesh. He has the time to see the past wrongs righted. If he must become a mechanical manifestation of his own corpse to his own ends, then so be it. A man or a monster, he will become the necessary evil for his own ends. Whether he seeks redemption or revenge at the end of the dusty trail, the story can only end one way.
