Mini-review:

This is one of those rare dramas where I could tell I was in for something truly special from the very first episode. And it delivered on that initial promise until the very end. Somehow, it got better with every episode. You can just tell everyone involved was incredibly passionate about this project. The writing is both riotously funny and heartbreakingly sad; there are few dramas that have made me laugh and cry as much as this one. The directing and the cinematography also keep things dynamic and visually gorgeous. And the acting... Man, Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok give two of the best performances I've seen in a K-drama; their acting is so nuanced and detailed. Plus their chemistry is crazy, seriously off the charts. Lovely Runner has helped me get through these last couple of months, and I will miss it so so much. Do yourself a favor and go watch it, if you haven't already!

Sinopse:

Yoo Seol Ok (Choi Kang-Hee) é uma mulher que adora livros de mistério e tem o sonho de ser uma detetive, mas depois de se casar com um promotor ela teve que desistir de seu sonho e se tornar uma dona de casa que tem que lidar com sua sogra e cunhada. Porém os dias monótonos de Seol Ok começam a se tornar agitados após acabar envolvida em um caso real e ter esbarrado no detetive Ha Wan Seung (Kwon Sang Woo) o farejador de drogas de Seobong. Eles começam a investigar juntos mesmo com personalidades e formas de agir distintas.

Yoo Seol Ok

Inteligente, curiosa, incrivelmente entusiasmada e destemida com qualquer caso criminal que apareça, ajuda sua amiga em sua loja de marmitas mas é um desastre na cozinha e sempre acaba fazendo pratos que não podem ser considerados comestíves, está sempre a disposição de sua sogra e corre a qualquer ligação dela. Boa observadora e consegue correr muito rápido. Ela precisa ter 100% de certeza antes de acusar qualquer pessoa e se ela disser que vai chover é melhor levar um guarda chuva, Seol quase nunca está errada.

Ha Wan Seung

Ele é um detetive apaixonado por sua profissão que dá sua vida em cada caso que trabalha, ele foi apelidado de farejador de drogas da delegacia de Seobong porque seus instintos nunca erram. Wan Seung tem mais cicatrizes que um criminoso e por isso ás vezes é confundido com um. Sempre usa a força bruta sem pensar duas vezes e é alguém que sempre parece mais o chefe que o próprio. Além disso acha que a Ahjumma (Seol Ok) é só uma intrometida dizendo coisas sem sentido.

“O policial que sorri com os olhos”, foi o primeiro que deu ouvidos a Seol Ok e a deixou a par dos crimes ainda que ela seja apenas uma civil. Ele é um jovem sensível e com um bom coração.

Kyung Mi

Dona de um restaurante de marmitas, independente, sempre cobre as participações da Seol em casos a qualquer sinal de sogra intrometida, se irrita fácil e é decidida.

Opiniões e comentários:

Demorei a decidir assistir o drama, muitos falavam sobre ele mas nada em especial me chamava atenção, porém quando me vi sem vontade de ver qualquer um de meus dramas me deparei com Mystery Queen e resolvi dar uma chance. Ouso dizer que foi uma das melhores decisões que tomei, não conseguia tirar os olhos da tela e ficava muito animada a cada episódio, eu realmente não esperava essa reação.

O drama abordou uma Ahjumma de uma forma diferente do habitual, ela não é só a mulher que cuida da casa, ela também é muitas vezes mais esperta que a polícia e consegue descobrir o culpado de um crime melhor que ninguém. Além disso ela é especialista em enganar sua sogra curiosa e claro fazer comidas anormais.

A trama começou com um crime que á primeira vista parecia muito banal e simples, mas que se tornou algo bem mais perigoso e a partir dele nossos protagonistas se conheceram.

Há um mistério de fundo no drama que o torna mais interessante e um romance nas sombras, o relacionamento entre cada personagem é bem simples de entender e a amizade entre todos é bonita de se ver.

L’avocate se retrouve donc contrainte de défendre un criminel que tout accuse, et pour se faire, elle ne dispose que de quelques jours, sept pour être exact…

Ji-yeon se lance donc à corps perdu dans cette affaire qui semble perdue d’avance. Pour mener à bien ses investigations, elle sollicite Kim Seong-yeol (Park Hee-soon), un inspecteur de police, lui-même sur la sellette et étroitement surveillé par la Direction Générale des Affaires Internes. L’accusé, Jeong Cheol-jin (Choi Moo-sung) aurait assassiné une jeune femme de plusieurs coups de couteau, puis caché son corps. La victime a été retrouvée et on retrouve, à la fois des empreintes de l’accusé, ainsi que son ADN, sur les affaires de la défunte. Cependant, certains éléments tendent à prouver que quelqu’un d’autre serait impliqué dans l’affaire. En outre, les investigations menées par Ji-yeon et Seong-yeol permettent de révéler qu’une personne occupant une position importante dans la société, serait compromise. Bien qu’on lui mette des bâtons dans les roues, Ji-yeon doit impérativement gagner le procès afin de sauver son enfant…

Le moindre que l’on puisse dire en ce qui concerne “Seven Days” c’est qu’on se retrouve rapidement dans le vif du sujet. Le kidnapping de l’enfant survenant dès les premières minutes du métrage. Choi Young-hwan, le directeur de la photographie, offre beaucoup de dynamisme au métrage, avec une camera presque toujours en action. L’édition délivrée par Shin Min-kyung va dans le même sens, avec des séquences rapides et dynamiques, offrant ainsi un film d’une durée de 125 minutes durant lesquelles il n’y a pas de place à l’ennui et à aucune forme de lassitude. Les scènes d’action sont rondement menées et la bande originale orchestrée par Kim Jun-seong vient parfaitement renforcer l’atmosphère et permet aux spectateurs de rester dans l’ambiance tendue de l’histoire.

Le récit manque parfois de fluidité, le scénario concocté par Yoon Jae-gu oriente la trame principale de manière à ce que l’affaire se complique de minute en minute, le cercle des suspects s’agrandissant rapidement et la question qui occupe notre esprit, à savoir qui est finalement l’auteur de kidnapping et surtout quelles sont ses motivations, nous fige littéralement devant notre écran, au risque de faire souffrir nos ongles. C’est bien entendu dans la dernière partie que viendront toutes les révélations nécessaires afin de soulager nos questionnements.

En substance, bien que rapidement développé par Won Shin-yun, le réalisateur, on peut relever le regret que nourrit le personnage principal dans l’absence de présence et d’affection qu’il porte à son enfant. C’est dans la douleur, dans la peine et l’angoisse que Ji-yeon prend conscience qu’elle n’est pas forcément la bonne mère qu’elle s’imaginait être jusque-là. Accaparée par son travail et sa volonté de réussite, elle passe inévitablement à côté de moments importants, pour ne pas dire capitaux, avec sa fille.

Dans l’ensemble, “Seven Days” a bien été accueilli par la critique et par le public lors de sa sortie. Le métrage a obtenu plus d’une dizaine de nominations et a remporté 6 prix. Yunjin Kim a remporté un Grand Bell Awards dans la catégorie Meilleure Actrice, tandis que Park Hee-soon a remporté le Blue Dragon Film Awards et le Korean Film Awards dans la catégorie Meilleur Acteur dans un Second Rôle. Le film a par ailleurs rapporté plus de 14 millions de dollars de recette au box-office.

En conclusion, “Seven Days” est un très bon thriller disposant d’une histoire attractive, d’une intrigue prenante et d’un développement particulièrement dynamique. Le rythme est soutenu, le récit manque de fluidité par moment et la narration est linéaire. Les scènes d’action sont très bien orchestrées avec une belle touche de réalisme. La photographie est hardie, la bande originale joue parfaitement son rôle afin de maintenir l’atmosphère de tension. Enfin, l’édition est très bien structurée, permettant d’avoir un métrage sémillant de 125 minutes. La distribution offre de très bonnes prestations sans qu’aucun acteur ne se détache cependant du lot. L’ensemble est plus que convenable et remplit pleinement sa fonction de divertissement.

Man, I'm not ready for Lovely Runner to end in just a few days. It's like the one thing that has helped me get through my current work project in the past two months. I hadn't mentioned on here how much I loved it because... Well, I guess I wanted to keep it to myself until it ended, if that makes any sense. Anyway, I should start steeling myself for the finale 😭😭😭

  Comme je le soulignais dans les articles intitulés Séances Supplémentaires, et comme c’est certainement le cas pour bon nombre de rédacteurs de critique de films, afin de préparer et rédiger une nouvelle chronique sur un métrage, on fait quelques recherches. Le réalisateur, parfois le scénariste, souvent les principaux acteurs, font l’objet de quelques lectures.

A partir de là, il arrive parfois qu’on découvre un ou plusieurs films qui sont passés à travers notre radar. Du coup, ces derniers peuvent faire l’objet du désir de les découvrir. D’où la création d’une Wishlist. Pour ma part, c’est régulièrement que je découvre des métrages qui m’intéressent. Je vais donc essayer, chaque dimanche, de proposer ma liste de souhaits, ou ma liste d’envie, suite à mes pérégrinations cinéphiles.

Pour cette semaine allant du 25 septembre au 1er octobre 2017, je me suis arrêté sur 14 films, dont voici la liste :

1. “The Age of the Shadow” (2016), un film coréen réalisé par Kim Jee-woon avec Lee Byung-hun, Gong Too et Song Kang-ho dans les rôles principaux. À la fin des années 20, un groupe de résistants tente de faire venir des explosifs de Shanghai afin de détruire des bâtiments stratégiques japonais à Séoul, tandis que des agents japonais tentent de les en empêcher. Au milieu de ce jeu du chat et de la souris, un agent de police japonais né en Corée, et ayant fait partie de la résistance, se retrouve face à un dilemme entre les nécessités de la réalité et l’instinct de soutenir une plus grande cause.

2. “Office” (2015), un film coréen réalisé par Hong Won-Chan avec Bae Seong-woo, Kim Eui-sung et Ko Ah-sung dans les rôles principaux. Kim Byeong-gook, employé d’une grande entreprise, décime sa famille et disparaît sans laisser de trace. L’inspecteur Jong-hoon interroge les collègues de travail de Kim mais ceux-ci restent évasifs, en particulier Mi-rae, une stagiaire qui semble cacher quelque chose. L’inspecteur découvre que les caméras de surveillance ont filmé Kim Byeong-gook revenir au bureau juste après le massacre… mais jamais en ressortir. Où le tueur se cache-t-il ? Alors qu’une véritable psychose s’abat sur les employés, le bureau est le théâtre d’événements mystérieux.

3. “Warrior” (2011), un film américain réalisé par Gavin O’Connor avec Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton et Nick Nolte dans les rôles principaux. Ancien Marine brisé, Tommy Conlon rentre au pays et demande à son père de le préparer pour un tournoi d’arts martiaux mixtes qui lui permettrait de gagner une fortune. Personne ne sait ce qu’il espère faire de cet argent. Le propre frère de Tommy, Brendan, décide lui aussi de s’engager dans la compétition pour essayer de sauver sa famille. Entre les deux frères, les années n’ont pas adouci les rancœurs.

4. Conspiracy (2017), un film réalisé par Michael Apted avec Noomi Rapace, Orlando Bloom, et Toni Collette dans les rôles principaux. Ex-interrogatrice de la CIA, Alice Racine est rappelée par son ancien directeur, Bob Hunter, pour déjouer une attaque imminente sur Londres. Face à un adversaire brutal et tentaculaire, Alice reçoit l’aide providentielle de son ancien mentor, Eric Lasch et d’un membre des forces spéciales, Jack Alcott. Mais elle réalise rapidement que l’agence a été infiltrée. Trahie et manipulée, elle va devoir inventer de nouvelles règles pour faire face à cette conspiration.

5. In Love and the War (2011), réalisé par Park Geon-yong avec Byun Hee-Boong et Choi Won-young dans les rôles principaux. Le village sud-coréen de Seol-Hee est obligé de servir le régiment nord-coréen occupant les lieux pendant la guerre de Corée. L’histoire se concentre sur la relation complexe entre Seol-Hee et le lieutenant nord-coréen, Kim Jeong-woong.

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), réalisé par Jon Watts avec Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, et Robert Downey Jr. dans les rôles principaux. Après ses spectaculaires débuts dans Captain America : Civil War, le jeune Peter Parker découvre peu à peu sa nouvelle identité, celle de Spider-Man, le super-héros lanceur de toile. Galvanisé par son expérience avec les Avengers, Peter rentre chez lui auprès de sa tante May, sous l’œil attentif de son nouveau mentor, Tony Stark. Il s’efforce de reprendre sa vie d’avant, mais au fond de lui, Peter rêve de se prouver qu’il est plus que le sympathique super héros du quartier. L’apparition d’un nouvel ennemi, le Vautour, va mettre en danger tout ce qui compte pour lui…

7. 47 Meters Down (2017), réalisé par Johannes Roberts, avec Mandy Moore, Claire Holt, et Matthew Modine dans les rôles principaux. Après la rupture de Lisa, sa soeur Kate l’embarque en vacances au Mexique pour lui changer les idées. Avides d’aventures, elles se mettent au défi de plonger parmi les requins blancs, protégées par une cage. Une fois dans l’eau, le spectacle est incroyable… Mais subitement, le câble qui retient la cage au bateau cède, et les deux soeurs se retrouvent plongées au fond de l’océan, à 47 mètres de profondeur. Il ne reste qu’une heure d’oxygène et les grands blancs rôdent..

8. Les Proies (2017) de Sofia Coppola, avec Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning et Colin Farrell dans les rôles principaux. En pleine guerre de Sécession, dans le Sud profond, les pensionnaires d’un internat de jeunes filles recueillent un soldat blessé du camp adverse. Alors qu’elles lui offrent refuge et pansent ses plaies, l’atmosphère se charge de tensions sexuelles et de dangereuses rivalités éclatent. Jusqu’à ce que des événements inattendus ne fassent voler en éclats interdits et tabous.

9. I Wish – Faites un Vœu (2017) de John R. Leonetti avec oey King, Ryan Phillippe, et Ki Hong Lee dans les rôles principaux. Pas facile de survivre à l’enfer du lycée, Claire Shannon et ses copines en savent quelque chose. Du coup, quand son père lui offre une ancienne boîte à musique dont les inscriptions promettent d’exaucer tous ses vœux, Claire tente sa chance. Et ça marche ! Argent, popularité, petit ami, tout semble parfait. Mais le rêve a un prix : au fur et à mesure de ses souhaits, des personnes de son entourage meurent dans des conditions particulièrement atroces. Claire le sait : elle doit se débarrasser de la boîte pour sauver sa vie et celle de ses proches avant de faire le voeu de trop.

10. GP506 – The Guard Post (2008) de Kong Su-chang avec Chun Ho-jin, Cho Hyun-jae et Choi Kyoo-Hwan dans les rôles principaux. Un groupe de soldats de la Garde 506 est sauvagement assassiné. Un seul soldat survit mais tombe dans un profond coma. Un enquêteur vient alors mener l’enquête et découvre un virus étrange qui transforme les soldats en morts-vivants.

11. The Jane Doe Identity (2016) d’André Øvredal avec Brian Cox, Emile Hirsch, et Ophelia Lovibond dans les rôles principaux. Quand la police leur amène le corps immaculé d’une Jane Doe (expression désignant une femme dont on ignore l’identité), Tommy Tilden et son fils, médecins-légistes, pensent que l’autopsie ne sera qu’une simple formalité. Au fur et à mesure de la nuit, ils ne cessent de découvrir des choses étranges et inquiétantes à l’intérieur du corps de la défunte. Alors qu’ils commencent à assembler les pièces d’un mystérieux puzzle, une force surnaturelle fait son apparition dans le crématorium…

12. The Wig (2005) de Won Shin-yeon avec Chae Min-seo, Lee Jung-sung et Do Hyun-jung dans les rôles principaux. À Séoul, Su-Hyeon est en phase terminal suite à une leucémie; aprés quelques séances de chimiothérapie, elle devient chauve. Sa soeur Ji-Hyeon achète une perruque aux cheveux longs. En portant la perruque, Su-Hyeon récupère sa santé mais change totalement de conduite et rapport avec sa soeur. Ji-Hyeon découvre alors que la perruque est possédée par le mal.

13. Death Bell (2008) de Yoon Hong-Seung avec Choi In-sook, Da-Geon et Ham Eun-jeong dans les rôles principaux. Les vingt meilleurs élèves d’une école privée sont réunis un samedi afin d’assister à un cours magistral. Au milieu de la leçon, une télévision s’allume et montre une des élèves enfermée dans un grand aquarium où l’eau monte peu à peu. Une voix inconnue leur explique qu’ils vont devoir passer un nouvel examen avec une règle simple : à chaque mauvaise réponse, un des leurs mourra…

14. 2 Soeurs (2003) de Kim Jee-Woon avec Kim Kap-soo, Yum Jung-ah, et Moon Geun-Young dans les rôles principaux. Su-Mi et Su-Yeon, deux soeurs, rentrent chez elles. Leur belle-mère les accueille mais Su-Mi l’évite volontairement et Su-Yeon semble en avoir peur. Un jour, le frère de la marâtre et sa femme leur rendent visite. Pendant le dîner, elle aperçoit un fantôme et des événements étranges se produisent. Le fantôme d’une petite fille hante en effet la maison. Les oiseaux meurent. Persuadée que leur mort est due aux agissements de Su-Yeon, la belle-mère l’enferme dans un placard. Le conflit entre la marâtre et les deux jeunes soeurs ne fait que commencer…
