Seraph of the End: Battle in Nagoya A Pleased Commentary (ft: an ode to Miyu Irino and Kensho Ono)
-the fact that yuu doesn't give a flying fuck that he was experimented on and that he lost control and turned into a monster is both preposterous and refreshing
-yeah, see, this is good, this is what i was griping about in s1- here mika has a concrete goal, to save yuu from humans and vampires. and guren's is "kill the nagoya vampires." it's better than "kill all the vampires."
-the action scenes are definitely better than s1 directing-wise (although the long conversations mid-battle still annoy me).
-i like mika. how he's playing for and against both sides, his composure and private suffering, how he didn't kill miss soldier when she asked him to, but mercy-killed her when it was clear the vampires would torture her. i like him.
-yuu's mika-senses are tingling. no, they're sweet, they're sweet in their dynamic. and shinya and guren, i like their dynamic too.
-i can't explain it very well, but i feel like miyu irino gives yuu an extra dimension. like, he makes him more tangible? he feels very complete, like he actually exists in three dimensions, like he has a life outside of what we see? idk, like he's a real boy.
-unfortunate for the team, crowley and his girls are too strong -.-
-the drama around guren while everyone tries to save him, good stuff
-oi, i'm tearing up at the young yuu nightmare flashback with guren
-YUU'S SMILE AND JOVIAL ATTITUDE WHEN HE SAYS HE ISN'T A TEAM PLAYER AFTER ALL AND GOES TO SAVE GUREN OH MY GOD *chef's kiss*
-maybe it's because irino-san is so good at the understated, more introverted moments. he plays them so subtly and smoothly, that when he goes "SHOUNEN PROTAG GO!" it feels like a multi-faceted person rather than your typical shounen protag.
-YUU HAS A HORN
-hell hath no fury like mika coming for yuu
-gee, the whole run of mika going through the soldiers to get to yuu is tense, GOOD STUFF GOOD STUFF
-"but if you're yuu's family, we're your family too, mika-kun" oh yoichi, oh my heart :')
-YES SHINOA, that's what i wanted from you, some mika support
-i'm gushing over the fact that shinoa et al TRUSTED MIKA ENOUGH TO LET HIM LEAVE WITH YUU, just because they trust each other's judgment, good stuff
-what did narumi ever do for his team to be used as cannon fodder WAH
-WAKE TF UP, YUU-CHAN! man, i really feel for mika
-THE BOYS ARE REUNITEDDDDD. they're sweet, they're so sweet with each other. and he's strong, dude, mika is so strong, mentally. yuu literally pulls him close and coaxes him to drink and he still refuses. yuu all but force-feeds him to keep him alive
-isn't mika a seraph of the end too though? wasn't he experimented on?
-"if it's hard, i'll find a way to turn you human again"- IF it's hard, if it's not or if mika wants to be a vampire, yuu is fine with him just being a vampire, THEY ARE SO SWEET I CANNOT
-KIMIZUKI'S SISTER?!?!?!?! WHAT?! OF ALL PEOPLE?!
-WHAT IS HAPPENING AT THAT AIRPORT, I HATE KURETA, WHAT IS HE DOING TO OUR OWN PEOPLE
-ummmmm... guren just stabbed kimizuki...
-oh he stabbed yuu too, this is going well.
-i don't know if it's because both kensho ono and miyu irino have this smoothly natural tone when they need to, but their interactions sound SO natural, like i can believe yuu and mika are two real people with a real relationship sitting and talking in a real room.
-yuu will need fifty shinoa hugs to regain his humanity after this
-BUT WHO IS THE FIRST TRUMPET
-yuu is the kind of force that it doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with him, you root for him anyway
-no no, kureto, we deal with yuu with hugs here, not fights
-so many factions! i kinda want to read the manga!
-FOUR MONTHS LATER! that's a lot of months later!
-mika and yuu have been living together? my heart. is yuu mika's only diet?
-heh, the specials are cute.
-but actually, i kinda... the manga...

Okay but srsly? No matter how many times I rewatch this, I still think that that's so fucking selfish (Yes, I'm talking about Yuu. I mean, BABE MAKE YOUR DECISION gdi), but the blood-sucking scene is 100/100 good shit I'd remember for the rest of my life, and it adds 10 more years to my life every time I see it.

Nagoya arc in manga and anime: Guren edition.
At one time, it was a big surprise for me how differently the scene with the possessed Guren looks in the manga and anime. Despite the differences, the essence of the scene in both works remains the same and the changes in no way affect the plot, but the presentation and expressiveness itself have a strong enough impact on perception, which allows us to conduct a comparative analysis. In my subjective opinion, Guren's condition was much better demonstrated in the anime than in the manga. Let me tell you why.

Staging.
Compared to the manga, the anime Owari no Seraph looks much more lively and dynamic. The point here is not even in the imaginary fact that the default animation is more dynamic than a static image, but specifically in a more visual and expressive setting. A variety of angles, transitions, demonstration of different sides of the conflict — all that the manga, for some reason, is deprived of in this chapter.
We can clearly see this difference in the example of Guren's appearance in front of the Shinoa squad. While this moment is highly standardized in the manga, in the anime Guren appears before his subordinates after Yu cuts an extraordinary vampire in his path, which briefly confuses the viewer and adds surprise to the scene.

Also, contrary to popular belief, dynamism affects not only the perception of action scenes, but also the feelings of the character, which can be demonstrated both in dialogue and emotions, and in thoughtful directorial techniques. We can already observe a similar thing during the activation of Owari no Seraph in the face of Narumi.
Immediately after Guren impales his subordinates and knocks Yuichiro back, God's Punishment begins to unfold in the blood-drenched sky, riveting the eyes of everyone on the battlefield. At this time, Guren, possessed by Mahiru, peers into the reflection of his eyes in the blade of a demonic katana, drenched in the blood of people and vampires, whom he personally killed. The whole scene is accompanied by manic laughter and tears flowing from his eyes.

This scene works on several levels:
1) Through the contrast of tears and laughter, the viewer realizes Guren's pain from harming his subordinates;
2) Guren's look at himself through the blade shows only his eyes, which builds a kind of dialogue between Mahiru and Guren, and also speaks of his obsession with the goal of killing and inability to cope with it;
3) The demon's sick laugh that accompanies what is happening, shows how absurd the world is, in which in order to save humanity it is necessary to kill people and cause God's wrath.
Just a few seconds present several new readings of the scene, not to mention the wordless disclosure of the inner contradiction of Guren's soul.
Emotions.
So we smoothly move on to the point of demonstrating emotions. I'm not lying if I say that anime Guren is much more charismatic and emotional, which is perfectly illustrated by the example of this scene.
From the beginning of the battle, an inappropriate wide smile adorns his face, which accompanies him until the end of the series and remains on his face even at the moments of the murder. It's the smile of the demon, Mahiru, and the dissonance between her and the usually moral and honorable Guren adds to the viewer's discomfort when watching what's happening on screen.

At the moment when Yuichiro tries to refute for himself the betrayal of such a dear person as Guren, he also smiles while tears flow down his cheeks. At the same time, in the manga Guren also cried, but there was no smile on his lips, which somewhat weakens the transmitted effect of lack of control and weakness in relation to his obsession. Also missing in the anime is Guren's request that Yuichiro run away from him, which I think is right, as the presence of this phrase and others like it knocks down the tension created and confuses the viewer as to who is in control of Guren's body at the moment.

I also add that the external image of Guren works much better in the anime: disheveled, covered with wounds and blood, he seems much more out of his mind than usual, which is why his actions look contradictory than in the manga.
Shinya.
Perhaps the most important thing I wanted to talk about.
Do you ever get the feeling that in OnS manga, Shinya is much softer than in Catastrophe or the anime? It has happened to me, countless times. It seems that in the manga, Shinya is simply not allowed to prove himself on the battlefield or in relationships with friends, and therefore he often seems to be the most spineless secondary character, though he is not.
In the manga, when Guren kills a few dozen subordinates before his eyes and attacks the younger squad, Shinya threatens him with a weapon and demands answers from him, and then tries to convince himself that it was not Guren, but his demon, which you see looks kinda hopeless.

«But in the anime, Shinya does the same thing!» Not really.
Why is the scene from the anime so different that it manages to demonstrate the essence of Shinya's character much better?
First, staging. The opening shot doesn't immediately show us who pointed the weapon at Guren, and the slow camera zoom in on Shinya's face that follows adds tension and drama to the scene. Also, during the conflict, we observe not only Shinya's side, as it was in the manga, but also Guren's reaction to his words, which sets the tone for the atmosphere of conflict and opposition of friends to each other.

Secondly, emotions. While in the manga, Shinya seems overly agitated, confused, and Guren aloof and unemotional, in the anime, Shinya looks angry. Angry at Guren, at his betrayal, and not so much the betrayal of the army, but of him personally, because Shinya always believed that Guren, his selfish Guren, really puts the lives of his loved ones above anything else. This is dissuaded not only by Guren's actions, but also by Kureto's earlier comment, amazed that Shinya still has no idea who his friend really is. That's what makes him doubt, and that's why in the anime, Shinya hits Guren. Hits for a dumb smile on his face that is completely inappropriate and belittling his own feelings of resentment and betrayal, hits for breaking a promise, and this is exactly what Shinya Hiiragi would definitely do in a situation like this.

Guren laughs, and Shinya's face shows a look of disappointment similar to the one he felt back in high school when he thought he overestimated his fiancée's lover. At the same time, the fear that then follows him demonstrates his awareness and true horror at the possibility of losing Guren. Shinya is no longer angry, he is scared and that is why he gives up his position — not so much because of worries for a loved one, but from the understanding that Guren needs help, not condemnation. Not just because he succumbed to the expression of his emotions, as it was in the manga.

Thus, in the anime, Shinya appears as a strong and strong-willed character with a clear worldview and principles, while at the same time having a weakness towards his friend, while in the corresponding chapters of the manga, his image is much more blurred and ordinary.
Results.
Summarizing the above, the characters of Shinya and Guren during the battle in Nagoya are demonstrated much better in anime due to competent directing, script revision and expressiveness of emotions.
This article is only a reflection of my opinion, you can either agree or disagree with these conclusions in the comments ~

Summary: Guren returns with Kureto from the battle in Nagoya, only he seems different. His friends are dragged to jail but you know there must be something hidden underneath the cruel act, because Guren always puts family first.
Your lips trembled as your eyes counted at the wounded soldiers that returned from Nagoya. You scanned their uniforms but none of them bore the colours of the Moon Demon Company. None of them had the insignia of the Ichinose clan and so none of them could tell you what had happened to the one person you cared most in this forfeited world.
You ran outside the gates of Shinjuku. The line of cars heading in was long, and all of them were carrying either injured or dead. A large truck brought in a broken cage and whole mountains of chains. What had happened?
"Kureto!", you couldn't hide a note of anger in your voice as you spotted the Hiragi heir getting out of one of the cars. His company surrounded him, some of them bandaged but all still ready to fight. Unlike the many men and women who fought under his command, Kureto seemed to be almost completely uninjured.
"Y/n", he adressed you with not much interested, lifting his thick eyebrow a good few inches above its regular spot, "Funny. He took all his friends and left you behind."
Something in his voice sounded mocking. He tapped the window of the car right behind his. "Get out", he said coldly.
The door opened, letting your eyes meet the violet ones you longed to see. You could see them shining under the shadow of the car. But there was something different about them. It was like the spark, the will, was suddenly gone from behind them. His gaze felt indifferent on you. Each second that passed lasted an eternity of suffering. At last, his eyes moved to Kureto.
"What do you want?", he asked him, "Aren't you heading into Shinjuku?"
Kureto dramatically placed his hands on his hips, "Your superior is standing right in front of you and you'll talk to him sitting down?"
Guren stepped out of the car, casually stretching his body from the long ride. "You're such a pain", he grunted.
You stood dumbfounded as he talked to Kureto in his usual defying way. You whispered his name but there was no response. Not a word, not even a glance. They talked about the Seraph of the End, an experiment you'd heard whispers about during your stay in Shinjuku. You stepped aside as a great more of Kureto's soldiers came from the gate. All the Hiragi warriors that never joined the last battle climbed in their trucks to join the next.
"You killed a lot of our allies for this", Guren's words pulled you back to reality. What? Did he just say-
"It was for humanity's sake", Kureto responded before turning to you with a hateful smile. He knew you were listening all this time and he had noticed that you were now paying attention. He pointed at Guren, "You know, he's killed people too. So many people. But it was because it meant something, I promise-"
"Enough", Guren's voice came soft but threatening. You could see his fist tightening up and tremblingbeside him. One who did not know him as well as you did would had missed the deep breath he took before he flashed his signature cocky grin. "Hurry up and go get your papa to call you a good boy", he smiled at Kureto, his fist never relinquishing its tense state.
An old police truck passed behind you to enter the city but you couldn't imagine what it was doing before. You couldn't hear the rest of the conversation as commotion grew beyond the gates. You took a few steps back to sneak a peak and saw Kureto's soldiers carrying Guren's friends, all of them in chains and all of them asleep. Last came Shinya, his silver hair dirtied with mud and blood. He was the only ome who stepped out of the truck by himself, his hands and legs bound with handcuffs. He winced as the soldiers tried to pull him along with where they were takimg the others. You wanted to cry out, to run and stop them, but your feet where nailed to the ground. Your eyes moved back to Guren. He was right there, talking to Kureto, not doimg anything for what was happening just a few meters away.
How could he? This was Guren. Why was he doing this to his friends? And, could you be ne....
"I'm going to Shibuya", Kureto said with pride before getting back into his car, "to kill my father"
Your eyes widened. You would not object to the death of the Hiragis' head, one of the people responsible for making Guren's life miserable even before the fall. But...
You felt someone urge you inside. You looked up and saw Guren's arm wrapped around you, his face serious as he led the two of you through the gate. Once the two of you stepped into the main building, you picked up his arm and threw it away. He stopped in his tracks, never turning to look. Could he not do it or did he change that much that he did not want to?
"Guren", you called, "what happened?"
Again, no answer. You could not understand why that man, who stayed with you through rain and war, who made this catastrophe of a world worth living in, was now silent and cold towards the only person he had never been. But your heart believed in him even as it was breaking. He had to have a hidden agenda. You always knew he knew much more then he was letting on.
"Why is Shinya and the others in custody?", you asked this time. His head was bowed but his lips remained closed. "Well I don't like where this is headed", you said, "I oppose whatever this is so you might as well throw me in jail with them"
You heard his breath catch before he murmured an anxious "No". You walked closer and placed your hand on his bicep, fingers curling comfortingly around his arm.
"Then tell me what's going on", you told him.
He turned around. Whatever stress you had caused with your words was gone now. His eyes were calm but you could see a mourning veil of sorrow behind them. He cupped your cheek, thumb gently brushing over it. He brought his face close, as if he leaned in for a kiss. But instead, he touched his forehead to yours. He closed his eyes and stayed silent for a little. It was like he was trying to transfer his thoughts to you without ever speaking any of them aloud.
"I can't", he finally said, his voice a strangled whisper. His expression twisted as he said those words but quickly returned to a blank unreadable sheet. He lowered his hand to your back, trying to guid you inside, you you shook it away. You gave him a pained look and left for the training room. Perhaps you could beat the worries off the both of you.
The days passed without seeing Guren much. You visited Shinya and the others in their cells. You rejoiced to hear that Guren visited them as well but that joy did not last long. Their tales of the battle were worrying. They said that Guren had changed. That he hurt people. His friends. The ones he called family. You did not want to believe it and yet the man you met at the gate was a far cry from the one you fell in love with.
In the days that followed you kept visiting your friends. At some point, the guards suspected you for conspiring to free them and forbade you from entering again. So you came every morning, cried "hello. I'm here" towards the open door, waited for the joined "hey"'s from inside and sat on the stairs eating your breakfast. One day, you felt a shadow come begind you. You tilted your head up and saw him; Guren.
"Leave", he told the guards
They tried to object but to no use. Guren dismissed them. He passed you by, his hand gently brushed through your hair as he did. That small touch alone made you feel so much.
"Guren", you stood as he opened the door to the cells. He stayed pondering for a while, hand on the knob. Once he turned, you saw something truly broken in his eyes...you wondered if it was your own reflection.
"I", his voice was caught in his throat. He closed the door, his head bowing down. "I need to do three things", he said in a quiet tone, "I need to keep you safe, I need to keep my friends alive, and I need to right my sin"
He lifted his gaze to look at you again. You could not read his expression, or rather you could not understand the reason for it. Was it regret that clouded his violet eyes? Pain? Sorrow? All of those at once?
"I can't explain more right now", he continued, "One day, when we are alone, perhaps I will. But promise me you'll stay alive for me to do so when I get back to you"
His last words stang like a poisoned dart. You took a step toward him. "You're leaving?", you said. He didn't answer. No, you though, no he couldn't do that anymore. You raced to him as he turned his back and brought your arms around his torso, hands clinging to his shoudlers, pulling him to you. You rested your cheek on the rough fabric on the back of his uniform and squeezed him close. "Please don't leave me", you murmured.
You could hear the frantic sound of his heartbeat. His hand trembled as it travelled to touch yours. He tilted his head to the side so his cheek touched your joined hands and placed a kiss on your finger tips. Silence engulfed you, but it was not silence at all. There was a wordless communication between you, a mutual share of love and pain that did not required any sound at all. Guren's breathing was labored, you could hear, and you knew it was solely due to the ache in his hidden but so incredibly loving heart.
He wiggled and you loosened your arms so he would turn around. He was quick to cup your cheeks and pull you in for a kiss. It struck you that it was the first kiss you'd shared in quite a while, even counting the time since his return.
"I promise, I'll stay right here.", he touched his forehead to yours once the kiss came to an end, "With you. By your side. I'll always return to you no matter what happens."
His fingers brushed up your cheeks and buried themselves in your hair. He lifted his head to place a gentle kiss on your forehead. Then, with gaze so serious it scared you, he looked deep into your eyes as he continued in a low tone so none other could hear.
"But right now, I need you to stay safe. Keep away from Kureto. And...", he looked to ponder for a little while whether or not to add the last sentence, "And head to Akihabara. There's a lab underground. But you need to keep yourself safe first."
"Guren, what..."
He stepped away. He smiled as he took in your image, engraving it in his memory for the time you'd be apart.
"I'll meet you there once I can. And then...there will be no more secrets."
Ypu tried to speak but he cut you off with another kiss. There was fear and worry in the embrace that followed. "You are my love, my home, my family", he whispered in your ear, "but I need to help everyone else too". You could hear the hope in his voice, his dream shining like beacon as he spoke the rest, "and then, if all goes according to plan, we'll be together in a world better than the one I destroyed"
You didn't understand his words completely and neither could you have guessed the price he would pay for what he was promising. He went inside the cells and brought out Shinya and the others, giving you a knowing look, a last promise, before they dissapeared into the night.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
Note: I don't know if you've been following the manga but here's some info if you haven't:
- Guren triggered the apocalypse to ressurect Shinya and his friends. They would be alive for ten years after the fall or until someone told them they had died and been brought back
- In the last published chapter, Guren goes to Akihabara and intends to bring back the world. The price for that will be that one person would become immortal, a certain number of special keys and the death of every vampire on earth.

Rough notes on Kaoru's Phalaris talk event
(addition/corrections welcome)
※Masuda first picks up on Kaoru's tshirt. Kaoru mentions a few movies of his day Rocky, Rambo etc, and says he was/is a fan of the Goonies. Masuda asks him about Top Gun, and tells him.what Shinya said about it. (Kaoru has seen it and liked it).
※Masuda tries to start taking about Phalaris, Kaoru says he feels like he already talked about it enough already. But he says with Phalaris it was the first time he had a set aim in mind from the start, and he's pretty happy with the result. There were twists and turns along the way, but it stayed on the right track to completion.
※He feels like the songs from Phalaris which they played on this tour were easy to get used to/easy to remember.
※They had originally planned to play 13 on this tour, not Hibiki. But if they did that it would just look like they were playing the first 4 songs in order. Kaoru would have prefered 13 though.
※Kaoru hints that the 25th anniversary tour may be a tour in which you can feel history, and it may also be connected to the song battle, and it may also include songs from Phalaris...but they havnt actually decided any details about the specific content yet.
※They talk a bit about the setlist for vol:1. They tried picking past songs that would merge well with the atmosphere of phalaris.
※He feels like the rule of no noise from audience is tougher on the audience than it is on the band.
※Masuda reminds Kaoru that it is exactly 16 years ago that they went on the Family Values tour, (Aug 4th San Antonio)and he remembers the car trouble they had. Kaoru does not remember this. He remembers the venues, but not how they got there.
※Masuda then remembers that at the same time the following year, the were in Europe with the band Fair to Midland. Kaoru recalls how they wrote Dozing Green while they were on the road then. He remembers sitting on the stage with the members after rehearsal and discussing the new song.
※Masuda reminds Kaoru that exactly 24 years ago was the first time the band played in Nakano Sun Plaza. Kaoru thinks it odd that as an indies band 24 years ago they were able to book two days at this venue. But as a 25yr old band, they were only able to book one day. They talk about this venue for a bit, Kaoru says they used to use a studio that was nearby.
※They talk.about the trend of venues closing. Kaoru mentions the magazine Gigs ending too. Masuda says his first article about Dir en grey was in Gigs.
※Kaoru wants.a bigger venue to be built in Tokyo, about 3000 capacity. He'd like it if people could just walk by and simply buy a ticket if they feel interested.
※Masuda suggests having a Dir en grey arena where the band plays every day, like a broadway musical. Kaoru laughs at this idea, and says Seraph could do that.
※Masuda asks if Kaoru has started any new projects or interests recently. Kaoru says he started listening to vinyl records a lot. He brought a few back from his home in Hyogo to use as decorations, but ended up wanting to listening to them, and was reminded of how good they are. He has since been going to 2nd hand stores etc and buying lots.
※He would like to release a vinyl version of Phalaris. He was not happy with the amazon mega jacket for the deluxe version, with those two while columns on each side.
※They talk about Shinya doing videos of him playing parts of songs for his youtube channel, and the possibility of the other members doing similar, but Kaoru says he doesnt want to appear on Shinya's channel.
※Kaoru talks a bit about his preferences when it comes to band tshirts/ movie tshirts.
※Kaoru says its been tough trying to book the tour venue in Nagoya too.
※A veiwer asks about TTT in the comments. Kaoru says nothing is decided about that yet.
※Masuda asks if Kaoru has any plans for new projects other than TTT. Kaoru says there are things he'd like to try, but as soon as he thinks about it, he has more demands from Dir en grey, like Kyo saying (imitating Kyo) 'Isnt is about time we made something new' etc. He knows Kyo has a lot going on so has to make the most of his time, but Kaoru sometimes wishes he had a bit more time to breathe.
※Masuda asks how important creativity is for Kaoru when starting a piece of work. I didnt really catch the answer to this, but it was apparently hilarious.
※They talk about the Studio coast live for a bit. Director Kondo is currently in the middle of editing it.
※Masuda says some comments have been made asking for Dir en grey-fes. Kaoru says he likes the idea of inviting bands they are close to, but it would be impossible in reality.
※Kaoru gives Masuda a cup of wine, and says they would go out to a bar after doing this kind of event in the past but as they cant do that this time, they might as well have more drinks now.
※A viewer asks for Kaoru to spill some gossip. He tells a story about Fujieda going to buy the wine they are drinking now, and how Fujieda is always talking about whisky. This leads onto Kaoru talking about his recent visit to the Suntory Yamazaki Whisky distillery, before the live in Kyoto.
※Masuda says he has visited a Scotch whisky museum in the UK. Kaoru would like to do similar, but it takes too much time getting there.
※This leads on to Kaoru saying that the band are always thinking about when they can next tour overseas. There have been times during the past two years where they thought they might be able to, but it turned out they couldnt due to circumstances.
※They talk about the concept of traveling with Japanese fans overseas to do a live for them there. Kaoru doesnt really like this idea. Masuda asks about doing a Japan tour for overseas fans, to travel Japan with the band. Kaoru says something similar to this was done when the band played Arche at Budokan. (I have no clue what this was). He is more open to this concept.
※They talk about Shinya's ban on members going to his home. Masuda mentions the behavior of a particular member, and Kaoru says he didnt have anything to do with it.
※Kaoru says Shinya wont even let anyone in his hotel room on tour. If you knock on his door, he will only open it a tiny sliver to answer.
※Kaoru says there are not many people like Shinya. There is something very different about him.
※That talk about how Phalaris was originally not intended to be put on the streaming sites, but after a bit of pressure from Apple music, they decided to put it on after all.
※They talk about the band Black midi which Masuda likes, and then KISS, which Masuda likes too. Masuda mentions that next year will be KISS's 50th anniversary. Kaoru wonders what Dir en grey would be like on their 50th anniversary. The drums in Zan would be impossible. It would have to be an extremely slowed down Zan. Kaoru doesnt know how long the band will continue, but he still has a lot of ideas in his head.
※Masuda says how talking about the acoustic Dozing Green in Sogai reminds him of when the band were on stage discussing the song overseas. Kaoru agrees. This reminds Kaoru of an incident on that overseas tour where one of the members threw an apple at Shinya while he was asleep in his bed on the tour bus (??) They then talk about how Shinya had a fridge and a computer set up in his bed compartment.
※About the anniversary tour, Kaoru admits that they often struggle to sell enough tickets for lives in the north and south of Japan, but they are giving Sapporo a shot this time, so he wants people to come.
※Kaoru says he is already in discussion with the band about plans for next year.
※A comment comes in about Amagasaki Archaic Hall. Kaoru remembers seeing the Smashing Pumpkins there, but was disappointed that they played the acoustic version of Today, and cycled home upset about it.

I love WikiFandom
Okay so I just found out that there are official dates/years about when Owari no Seraph is happening and when characters were born by year. Yuu would be about my age by now if it was all real.
Yuu was born in October 16, 2004
Mika was born in May 1, 2004
I’m from July 16, 2005
ACCORDING TO MY CALCULATIONS THE WAR IS IN 2020′S
Yuu was last seen in Hyakuya orpahanage at age 8, before and after Mika helped him and other orphans get back to the building soon after vampires released the virus (2013)
There were small memories of Yuu, being nagged by Mika to join his family more than one time, they could be 8 and 10 by that time (2013&2015)
Yuu escaped from vampires at age 12, meanwhile Mika was turned into a vampire by Krul, all after all the other orphans were killed by Ferid (2017)
Four years pass and Yuu becomes a soldier to fight vampires probably at age 15 assumed on the weather he wasn’t lawfully and physically 16 yet but Mika could already be 16 since warmer seasons couldn’t really be visible amongst city ruins (2021)
The rest of the war displayed in anime lasts about a year if you take weather change, snow, as proof (2021-2022):
At some point it started to snow (Mika watching and catching snowflakes in his hand; it could imply him worrying about missing Yuu’s birthday for the fourth time) so the year was about to end without New Year’s celebration (2021)
Last timeskip in anime said few months later then shows summer-like atmosphere by the beach which means Mika already turned 17 and Yuu was stil 16 (2022)
So according to those calculation I could be sent to war and the world would be nothing but ruins, soon to be rebuilt, right now.
