The Great Alligator will be released on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on May 28 via Severin Films. Inspired by the success of Jaws, the 1979 Italian killer gator movie is also known as The Great Alligator River.

Sergio Martino (Torso, All the Colors of the Dark) directs from a script he co-wrote with Ernesto Gastaldi (Torso), George Eastman (StageFright), and Mara Maryl. Barbara Bach, Claudio Cassinelli, Mel Ferrer, and Richard Johnson star.

The Great Alligator has been newly scanned in 4K from the original negative with English stereo and Italian mono sound. It features reversible artwork. Special features are listed below.

Manchester City may look at signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud on a free transfer in the summer, according to Italian football agent Vincenzo Morabito. When asked to assess the departure of Sergio Aguero on Radio Marte yesterday (quotes via 100x100napoli.it), Morabito said that Giroud was being considered as a possible signing: “Manchester City have changed paths, now they have other types of situations and they follow Giroud but not only [him].” It’s very unlikely that Morabito was suggesting Giroud was being lined up as a direct replacement for Aguero, but it seems there may be genuine interest in the France international. The former Arsenal player’s contract at Stamford Bridge will expire in June and he has been linked with a move to Italy so Morabito may have caught wind of something in his role as an agent. Saying that, though, he could be simply misinformed. Seit der letzten Folge unserer unsterblichen Familien-Seifenoper hier ist einige Zeit vergangen, und aus dem dort gezeugten Helden ist ein undankbarer, arger Knabe namens Siegfried geworden, der seinem Ziehvater, Alberichs Bruder Mime auf die Nerven geht und seinen liebevoll zubereiteten Kartoffelsalat verschmäht. Ein vorbeikommender, geheimnisvoller Wanderer verwickelt Mime in ein heiteres Ratespiel, das ein bisschen als “Was bisher geschah” dient, aber auch andeutet, daß Siegfried den vormaligen Bauunternehmer Fafner, der jetzt als Lindwurm den Nibelungenschatz bewacht, fällen soll, was nur mit dem Schwert Nothung geschehen kann, das dummerweise in der letzten Folge zerbrochen ist und nur von dem, der das Fürchten nie erlernte, neu geschmiedet werden kann. Bei diesem handelt es sich wenig überraschend um Siegfried. Sie begeben sich samt Schwert zu Fafners Drachenhöhle, wo sie auf Alberich, der seinen Ring zurückhaben will und den Wanderer treffen, Siegfried erschlägt wunschgemäß den Schlangenwurm (im Bild), und der Einfachkeit halber gleich auch noch Mime, das Fürchten lernt er aber immer noch nicht. Ein Vögelchen singt ihm, er solle Ring und Tarnkappe an sich nehmen, und es wüsste ihm auch noch ein herrliches Weib, die auf feuerumbranntem, hohen Felsen ruhende Brünnhilde nämlich. Dann komponierte Wagner zwei anderere Opern. Der Wanderer, der sich überraschend als Wotan herausstellt, fragt schließlich Brünnhildes Mutter Erda um Rat, die aber auch keinen weiß, und ihn an die Nornen verweist, Siegfried erstürmt Brünnhildes kubrickeskes Schlafzimmer, wovor er sich jetzt doch ein wenig fürchtet, aber angesichts ihres höchsten Liebesjubels nach ihrer Erweckung doch nicht so sehr, daß sie nicht gemeinsam eine sich abzeichnende Götterdämmerung weggelacht bekämen.

Decidido a ampliar seus horizontes, Rudy resolve fazer um filme independente sobre Dolemite. Mas, além das complicações para gravar o longa, ele enfrenta dificuldades para exibi-lo no circuito comercial.

7 — O Rei (2019), David Michôd

Descontente com a realeza, o príncipe rebelde Hal dá as costas à vida real e decide viver entre os plebeus. Mas, com a morte de seu pai tirano, ele é coroado Rei Henrique V da Inglaterra, sendo forçado a viver no mundo que havia abandonado. Agora, o jovem líder terá que aprender a lidar com as pressões políticas, a guerra deixada por seu pai e seus conflitos pessoais. O filme é inspirado na peça “Henriad”, de William Shakespeare.

6 — Lazzaro Felice (2018), Alice Rohrwacher

Inspirado na história bíblica, o filme apresenta Lazzaro, um garoto muito bondoso e inocente. Apesar de ser explorado pelos familiares, ele estava satisfeito com a vida simples do campo. No entanto, após uma tragédia, Lazzaro acorda no Século 21. O rumo de sua história muda e ele começa uma jornada para reencontrar sua família e viver como antigamente.

5 — A Balada de Buster Scruggs (2018), Ethan e Joel Cohen

Trabalhando pela primeira vez com a Netflix, os famosos irmãos Coen idealizaram uma antologia faroeste. O filme reúne seis curtas com histórias diferentes, mas que ocorreram no mesmo local, a fronteira selvagem do velho oeste. Os episódios seguem os capítulos do livro fictício “A Balada de Buster Scruggs e Outros Contos da Fronteira Americana”.

4 — O Menino que Descobriu o Vento (2019), Chiwetel Ejiofor

Aos 13 anos, William Kamkwamba, do Malawi, ganhou fama em seu país em 2007, ao construir uma turbina de vento geradora de energia. A região onde William morava foi assolada por uma seca que devastou a plantação de sua família. Estudando sozinho e utilizando materiais improvisados, ele criou um projeto para fornecer água encanada e eletricidade ao seu vilarejo, privilégios aos quais a população do Malawi não tinha acesso.

3 — Mais Uma Chance (2018), Tamara Jenkins

Um casal na casa dos 40 anos tenta engravidar de várias formas. Sem sucesso, eles se submetem a várias fertilizações. Quando os recursos e opções parecem chegar ao fim, o aparecimento de uma sobrinha renova as esperanças do casal, que decide tentar novamente. Além disso, eles precisam cuidar da própria relação, que está abalada em meio a tantos acontecimentos.

2 — Beasts of No Nation (2015), Cary Fukunaga

Agu é uma criança que sofre com as consequências da guerra civil da África do Sul. Depois que seu pai é morto por militares, ele é obrigado a se tornar um soldado, abandonando a família para lutar no conflito. Para se transformar em um combatente, ele é instruído por um comandante, que o ensina as cruéis regras da disputa armada. O longa é baseado no livro homônimo do autor nigeriano Uzodinma Iweala.

O filme foi inspirado na infância de Cuarón e conta a história de Cleo, uma jovem que trabalha como babá e doméstica de uma família de classe média, moradora do bairro Roma, na Cidade do México. Em um ano, acontecimentos inesperados afetam a rotina da família. Enquanto sua patroa, Sofia, sofre com o afastamento do marido, Cleo engravida do namorado, Fermín, que não quer assumir a criança.

The Great Alligator will be reissued on Blu-ray on February 2 via Code Red in association with Kino Lorber. The 1979 Italian creature feature is also known as The Great Alligator River.

Sergio Martino (Torso, All the Colors of the Dark) directs from a script he co-wrote with Cesare Frugoni (Screamers) and Ernesto Gastaldi (Torso). Barbara Bach, Claudio Cassinelli, Mel Ferrer, and Richard Johnson star.

The Great Alligator was remastered in high definition from the original negative in 2016. Read on for the special features.

Poliziotti uccisi a Trieste, fiaccolata di solidarietà

Una manifestazione sobria ma intensa e carica di emozioni quella tenuta questo pomeriggio davanti alla Questura di Catanzaro.

Rappresentanti istituzionali, appartenenti alle forze sociali e ai sindacati di Polizia, molti giovani, tanti semplici cittadini senza simboli né bandiere di partito hanno preso parte alla fiaccolata in memoria di Pierluigi Rotta e Matteo Demenego, i due poliziotti uccisi a Trieste.

A organizzare l’iniziativa la Federazione provinciale di Fratelli d’Italia di Catanzaro, guidata dall’on. Wanda Ferro, che è anche responsabile nazionale del Dipartimento Sicurezza, grazie all’impegno del responsabile provinciale del Dipartimento Rapporti con le forze dell’ordine Mimmo Michienzi.  

Una testimonianza civica di autentica solidarietà, dai toni pacati, che ha avuto l’obiettivo di “onorare il sacrificio di Pierluigi, Matteo e di tutte le vittime del Dovere, e di rappresentare la vicinanza e la gratitudine della comunità alle Forze di Polizia”, come ha spiegato il vice presidente provinciale di Fratelli d’Italia Francesco Grandinetti, affiancato dal dirigente nazionale Rosario Aversa.

Ma la manifestazione è servita anche a sollecitare una riflessione sulle difficoltà operative che investono il lavoro quotidiano degli uomini e delle donne in divisa. Come ha fatto Mimmo Michienzi che, fuori da ogni intento polemico, ha auspicato interventi normativi volti a “tutelare le forze dell’ordine nell’ambito della loro attività operativa, a potenziare gli strumenti di contrasto, ma soprattutto a evitare che i criminali si facciano forti del senso di diffusa impunità”.

Sulla stessa linea il Segretario generale del Siulp di Catanzaro Gianfranco Morabito, che ha ricordato come “ogni 4 ore c’è un poliziotto ferito o aggredito, e non possiamo più accettare che la legislazione tuteli più l’aggressore che la vittima”.

Il segretario nazionale del sindacato Fsp-Polizia di Stato Giuseppe Brugnano ha espresso il proprio apprezzamento per l’iniziativa di Fratelli d’Italia e per l’impegno di quella buona politica che dimostra vicinanza concreta e fattiva alle Forze dell’ordine, stigmatizzando invece “le espressioni di chi come il presidente della Camera dei Deputati Roberto Fico, definisce l’assassinio di due poliziotti come morti sul lavoro.

Si tratta di servitori dello Stato uccisi per mano di due delinquenti, che come tali devono essere trattati”.

A portare la propria testimonianza, tra gli altri, il consigliere regionale Baldo Esposito, il consigliere comunale Giuseppe Pisano e l’ex consigliere Franco Cimino, i ragazzi di Gioventù nazionale guidati da Silvio Rotundo.

Anche il presidente del Consiglio comunale Marco Polimeni, presente a titolo personale e in rappresentanza del sindaco Sergio Abramo e dell’Amministrazione cittadina, ha espresso la propria solidarietà “a tutti gli appartenenti alle forze dell’ordine e a chi rischia la vita a difesa dei cittadini”.

Al termine della fiaccolata è stato deposto un fascio di fiori davanti all’ingresso della Questura di Catanzaro.

Winter Party 2019 Takes Over Miami

The Winter Party Festival produced by the National LGBTQ Task Force is one of the world’s largest and best-loved celebrations for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. The Festival has evolved into a week-long series of events, taking place on Miami Beach and benefiting the LGBTQ community both locally and nationally. Much of the gross proceeds from Winter Party Festival support the Task Force’s efforts to take action, build power and create change for LGBTQ people. A significant amount of the remaining proceeds are also donated to local service organizations through a grant-making process administered by the Miami Foundation.

Founded in 1994, the original Winter Party featured just one event, a huge dance party held on the sands of South Beach. The blend of SoBe, surf and sun, along with fabulous people, music and weather, proved to be an irresistible combination for Winter Party’s success. Soon, thousands of LGBTQ people were pouring in from around the world, making this one of the hottest weekends on the queer calendar of South Florida.

Over the years, Winter Party has grown and evolved to a weeklong celebration with dozens of events, from cocktail parties, to stage shows to health advocacy programs — drawing more than 10,000 attendees to the festival.

The roster of international DJ talent and Miami’s unparalleled venues provide the kind of events that could never happen anyplace else in the world, This year’s festival is already shaping up to be a major success, with passes and tickets selling out at many levels. This year’s theme — With Open Arms — focuses on the organization’s dedication and specific efforts to make WPF a welcoming environment for all.

In 2018, a study conducted by the Task Force and the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau articulated that 55% percent of attendees at WPF identify as non-Caucasian. This year, organizers worked to diversify the talent on the DJ roster by including more women, featuring the skills of Sharon O Love (making her US debut), Anne Louise and MORABITO behind the turntables.

“Winter Party Festival has always been friendly and inclusive,” WPF Festival Chair Rene Wolfensberger said in a statement.” “This year we wanted to turn it up a notch and encourage everyone, volunteers, committee members, staff and guests to welcome each other with open arms. It’s an international gesture of inclusion and ties very well into our vision statement: ‘Bringing the world together to create change while celebrating you.’”

“This year as we bring in a new era for Winter Party Festival, one thing that I am extremely excited about is our all new Nikki Beach Club venue for our Under One Sun: Evolution, presented by Impulse Group,” added Vice Chair Sergio Orlando. “As the Festival grows larger each year, we strategically chose Nikki Beach Club to expand our guests experience for this iconic and original event. We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this new venue to our Winter Party Festival line up.”

When the partying and weekend come to a close, the proceeds from WPF not only benefit the Task Force, but also other South Florida based LGBTQ organizations as well. In 2018, the Task Force donated $215,000 to the LGBTQ Community Fund at the Miami Foundation, for a total of nearly $3 million given back since the Task Force began producing Winter Party and the National LGBTQ Task Force Gala – Miami in 2005.

“The LGBTQ movement is as relevant today as it was when we fought back police raids at the Stonewall Inn 50 years ago,” Task Force Director of Communications Sarah Massey explained. “We still have a lot to do to achieve full liberation and equality for all of us. The Task Force is on the vanguard of this work. We are keeping the Trump administration in check, organizing faith communities to be welcoming, and protecting our hard-earned freedoms while expanding legal protections for all.”
