Best ideas for Extending Server Lifetime

Best ideas for Extending Server Lifetime Keeping the server in an optimal working condition before upgrading or replacing is important to extend the lifetime of your server. Adhering to these best practices will assist your business in keeping your server functional and secure.
Regular Server Maintenance and Monitoring: The initial practice to prolong server lifetime is consistently maintaining your server hardware. This involves: • Observing your hardware for indications of physical damage or alterations in performance. • Maintaining a clean and ventilated data center environment. • Repairing damaged or faulty components whenever possible. • Replacing worn out or significantly damaged components. • Keeping a record of any modifications made to your data center hardware.
Server Hardware Optimization and Upgrades: Maintaining your server’s health is the first step – the next step is optimizing its performance. Upgrades and optimizations maximize your server's potential, from power efficiency to security enhancements.
Common optimizations consist of: • Load balancing: Distributing traffic and functions across multiple devices. This prevents one server from being overloaded while others are underutilized. Installing management tools can assist with this. • Resource capping: Restricting the use of resources, such as memory, on each device. This means the equipment is not overworked. Capping therefore maintains the stability of your IT system. • Security: Ensuring that security measures are robust and current. This may involve encrypting data, utilizing firewalls, and applying security patches to safeguard against vulnerabilities. • Network optimization: Structuring your network for low latency and high bandwidth. This enhances internet connectivity and improves the user experience. Sustainable IT and Server Lifecycle Management: Each piece of equipment has a life cycle. Sooner or later, this cycle will conclude, and you will need to replace the device. The objective is to carry out this process in an environmentally responsible manner. Lifecycle management addresses devices from installation to decommissioning. At the conclusion of their useful life, this includes
IT Asset Disposition (ITAD). ITAD comprises: 1. Dismantling and removing the hardware. 2. Securely disposing of data. 3. Refurbishing any usable parts for reutilization. 4. Recycling materials like rare earth elements. 5. Responsible disposal of leftover waste.
Refurbishing, reusing, and recycling contribute to the waste- free economy. This prolongs the lifecycle of other data centers, enabling them to benefit from spare-part replacements. Sustainable practices like these also mitigate the production of e-waste and the consumption of limited natural resources.

How Third-Party Maintenance Can increases Server Lifetime? Until the conclusion of your server’s warranty, the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) should deliver IT support and updates. However, this will gradually decline after the server’s EOL date. When it reaches its EOSL date, this support will cease entirely.
Third-Party Server Maintenance providers like Navigator Systems assist IT equipment regardless of its warranty status. Strong TPM can ensure that your server operates smoothly for several years after its official end of service life.
Navigator System’s IT Support and Advisory Server Maintenance Service Plan is tailored to help you attain that through proactive monitoring, server repair, patching, and replacing hardware components as needed. • Server Monitoring • Alert Management • One-Time Preventive Maintenance • Server Repair and Replacement for Hardware Component Failure • Server OS Patching/Vulnerability Management • Remote Monitoring, Alerts, and Support Services

I got art of my selfship if I draw these two, which is a fair trade 🤝
A win win! Got a drawing of my selfship and I draw something of these two after a while? Cool!
#smg4#smg4 shroomy#smg4 hal monitor#badgehunter#heart sketchbook#no. I don’t planning to do art trade here. this is more of a channel on one of the discord servers I’m in#and I decided to post this drawing because I really like how it turned out and of course feeding the shippers#chat I promise I want to do more art but it’s just burn out T-T

would you be fine w/ someone making a fanmade WAC discord?
I would really prefer if you didn't. I can't like stop you obviously, but I wouldn't endorse it. I don't want a group of fans of my work (especially one with themes like WAC) in one place without my supervision or knowledge of what is being said/done there.
#ask#menacetomany#same reason I won't be opening a discord server for the comic myself#i don't have the time/energy to monitor something like that + i am a hermit and have really bad anxiety

Thinking about starting a discord specifically for One Piece fan authors/artists. Like, a place to bounce ideas around/share WIPS and get feedback.
Would anyone be interested?
#or know of one that already exists?#i know there's like the zs and grneral OP discords#but theyre so big and i just want something small-ish where its easy to talk to people/get involved#one piece#sanji#zoro#zosan#it wouldnt just be zosan#but it might start off that way#op#ive never been a mod before#but learning stuff is half the fun!#i just miss the spideypool discord#it was so fun talking to people on there but i havent been in that fandom for like 6 years#it would probably be an adult-only server#just cause i dont want to bother with monitoring censorship stuff#oh!#and cosplayers would be welcome too!#just anything fandom related#and people who run fandom-specific blogs/do literary analysis

my co-worker's 5y/o kid LOVES minecraft and we talk about minecraft all the time together and he plays it on his tablet & shows me what he builds. and he really didn't want me to leave so the goodbye was so sad & he gave me the sweetest card & i made him rice krispy treats & gave him a hamster stuffy & i promised to send him a birthday card (set a reminder for myself) & to call him on the phone. but i guess my coworkers have been getting his hopes up saying that he and i could play on a Minecraft server together even though he plays on a tablet on pocket edition & I can only do desktop and i kinda wish before i left i had grabbed his dad by the shoulders & shook him around & said PLEASE DON'T LET YOUR 5 YEAR OLD PLAY ON PUBLIC MINECRAFT SERVERS
#he already watches Minecraft youtubers (with kidsafe content filters in place I'm sure) i just worry about this kid so much#he's my little buddy#like to be clear i Don't believe in monitoring kids internet access that heavily and i love his parents it's just that there's#nasty ass stuff on YouTube and public servers are basically all tweenagers screaming slurs at each other#and he's 5 like he's JUST learning how to read#gah i miss this kid already what a sweetiepie </3

hmm. i simply do not think fandom discord servers should have #politics channels.
#post partially inspired by lrb and things i notice when sporadically peeking in servers#it's hard not to wrinkle my nose when i see politics/current event channels. i simply don't think it's appropriate or productive.#'but xan-- fandom spaces can be a means to finding community' sure. but also. please. i dont think that an insular semi-public space is it.#specifically this kind. it's not cohesive.#if i was in a server and people are regurgitating acab/free p*lestine/stop gen*cide to each other 20x in a row#and some glorified rando hall monitor told me to ||spoiler tag|| the words 'rape' or 'child abuse' in the middle of sentence#i think i would radiate enough malice to power nuclear power plants lmao#you wanna have a space for discussion or not. pick one.#also it just feels circlejerky at a certain point. everyone is self-assuaging their own anxieties about doing the right thing.#and i feel that saying the right buzzwords in a row or randomly policing a well-intentioned stranger who may have fumbled their words#checks off the part of the brain that's like 'ok we did an activism today. good job! we saved the city! this is what praxis looks like.'#with that said: [freshprincesunflower.jpg]#fandom bitterblogging

“The only time it’s okay to pirate is when something isn’t available to buy. Otherwise it’s wrong and bad.” Babe how are you going to watch something when it becomes unavailable if people weren’t pirating it before it became unavailable.
#ra speaks#personal#piracy#don’t get me wrong there’s nuances to piracy but like#but like. I’m sorry pirate archiving SHOULD happen when something is still legally available.#I just. I can’t see the logic in this. maybe it’s like ‘oh the people who OWN copies they PAID for should redistribute via piracy once it’s#unavailable’ but like. the point is a lot of media isn’t OWNED anymore. you pay to rent and view it nowadays. there’s no file or dvd.#just an internet connection to some streaming service’s server. and if they decide to pull the plug you aren’t getting that media back#no matter if you paid to ‘buy it’#I am. so eepy. ‘‘twas a long cold day of comdef monitoring. goodnight.

would you ever consider making a great north server? Idk if you use discord but i love talking to you!! also this fandom is so small i need a place to word vomit
I dooo use discord and I'd say yes if I had a bit more of a following. I prefer smaller servers but not servers that are so small its dead half the time. 😮💨 Maybe if enough people want it, but really I'm sure there are discord spaces somewhere!
#I'm happy the fandom is small and cozy but I do think my account needs more eyes to make the server more alive#Like.. not too much but just enough.#I would never be able to monitor it if there were a lot
