i watched an abby cox video forever ago about how most hand sewing needles easily available in stores absolutely fucking suck and how you have to find fancier brands online that were made in england or whatever to get good ones these days, but only recently acted on it by adding some on to my order of snaps for my meryl coat.............
ohmygod. it makes such a difference. you guys, if you hate hand sewing, go buy some slightly better needles. i got some from wawak which is an online store that specializes in notions (and they're much cheaper than what you'll find at joann's), and it makes everything so silky holy crap. i'm forever changed.

If you are new to sewing, and I cannot stress this enough, USE SHARP SCISSORS for cutting you fabric
While it's better to get actual fabric scissors just sharp is a bare minimum or you will hate cutting anything out

I swear the only reason quilts cost a lot is not because of the material costs or profit, it is to make up for the amount of times a day you have to clean inside your sewing machine.

I don’t know what I want to make but a cute dress will be nice right about now. I know I want it to be a pastel color for spring but, I’m not sure where the flowers will go because I’m thinking the flowers can go on the top and then fade off towards the bottom. We will have to see what I come up with.

Oz plushie
So I want to make Oz plushie but I can't really find pattern that resembles him a lot and would only need slight adjustments (I'm beginner 😔). Maybe someone in fandom did one and knows where to find pattern? Free or paid either is ok

I hate when I order a pattern and they say it has to be mailed and then when I receive it it is printed on normal paper. My seamster in the wool, why did you make me pay $8 shipping for this.

In vain I’m trying to view the full video of POTO 1989 online!
I’ve tried every free source I know and no one has it! Roku says they have it, but it’s a stage play.
I’m about to buy a physical copy and view it that way!
I remember back in 2012 you could still watch it on YouTube! The things isn’t even on dailymotion.
I’ve switched my vpn location multiple times and it still doesn’t show.
I want to recreate all of Chris’ costumes (in 1885) and I neED REFERENCES.

The eternal struggle. Top stitching when you’re not really set up for epic quilting. Next time I think I’ll try Quilt As You Go and hope that’ll be a bit easier.

Tailoring a pattern to fit a tall person requires altogether too much mathematics.

You know, there are a lot of things about sewing that I don’t look forward to doing.
Hemming was one of them - specifically hemming circle skirts, you know with all that fabric and shit, it just seemed like a harrowing thing
Which was why I wasn’t looking forward to shortening the hems of my skirts. Until yesterday when I found I was worrying over nothing lol
So hemming is off the list of things I wouldn’t like doing 😁

saw your sewing tag, wondered if you tried a rotary cutter + cutting matt? it helped my arthritis when i can’t the fabric
I do have a rotary cutter and mat, but my left handed one rolls weird and my right handed ones are difficult to use for large pieces due to i am left handed, I tend to do about 50% rotary cutter and 50% scissors. I'm glad it helps you though, I know a lot of sewists prefer them wayyy more than scissors!

This serger machine will be the death of me. I want to throw it out the window but I guess least I know the timing is wack and needs to be brought into the shop for repair. Still. I just want to sew my dog some clothes 😤
(for anybody who doesn’t know think kinda more industrial sewing machine that trims the fabric as you sew making it look more professional amongst other stuff)
