Every divine fell in some way. It was bound to happen, no one figure could be holy and pure forever. Each shaped the soul of the divine in some twisted way, something that changed them completely.
Enki's ravenous thirst for knowledge, to become all knowing no matter the cost.
Irene's loss of all emotion and draining of compassion for those under her.
Drae'lic (Shad)'s loss of his own soul and spiral into beasthood.
Menphina's abandonment of those closest to her.
Esmund's thirst for power and control, his want to become stronger than even the other divine and gods that came before them.
Kul'Zak's sudden dissapearence after watching all his fellow divine rip each other to shreds.
The divine's flaws were covered up, twisted and changed to seem more holy. After all, no one wants to admit the god they devote their whole life to is nothing but a desprate, scared, bloodthirsty child.

Now, we've talk about what happens to the shadow knights when Shad dies.
But what happens to the nether?
Everything involving Shad/The Nether/Shadow Knights literally has a physical part of Shad within it. So what happens to these things when he's gone?
We've decided that the SKs either pass on, or live in their paralyzed bodies. There's not enough left of themselves to keep going once Shad has died.
Originally, I thought something similar would happen to the nether. The fires would stop, the lava would solidify, leaving the Nether blanketed in darkness.
However, @cinnamontoastcroonch brought something else up.
We were getting into the topic of the blue flames and how they signify rebellion. Cinnamon thought that the Nether would turn blue over time, to show the rebellion's control over the Nether.
I like this idea. A lot. But, I'm thinking something different would happen.
To know what the nether would be without Shad, we need to know what it was before.
Of course, The Nether is an alternate universe. It existed on it's own, possibly for billions of years before the Divine Warriors banished Shad there. So, what did it look like when Shad first got there?
It was blue, much like those new nether biomes in the somewhat recent update.
Tumblr media
This is what it was before Shad. Before he cursed the land.
It was almost a utopia. There were animals, and crops. The Nether could live on its own.
However, Shad's anger was brewing. He's the realm breaker, and his power was uncontained. But Irene made sure to put him somewhere he couldn't break. Not entirely.
He tried. He wanted to escape, and tear Irene down from her throne. His anger festered, and tainted the land. As he tried to break through the barrier, he embedded part of himself into the world around him. He became the Nether.
So, when he dies, the Nether is free. Much like Laurance and Vylad, the Nether celebrates once it's free. Trees grow, flowers bloom. The mobs are uncorrupted.
But we know that it can't sustain this. After a few years, maybe decades, it all starts to wilt. The Nether tried to hold onto what was left, but it couldn't keep going.
The trees die, the crops wilt, the animals are starving.
And it's gone. A husk of it's former self.
The Nether is clouded in darkness, empty for eternity.

I'm renaming the Divine Warriors in my version of MCD, so here are my changes:
- Irene is still commonly referred to as Irene in the Ru'Aun region, but in Gal'Ruk she's called Irena, and her real name was Irini.
- 'Shad' is an abbreviation of Shadow Lord/King (haven't decided which), his real name is Scyar but very few people know that and those who do know about it are usually very religious scholars and don't say it aloud because they fear it'll invoke his presence.
- Esmund is Eamonn, he's usually called Esmund in casual mention, but the Nobles of O'Khasis (his primary place of worship) call him Eamonn in their prayers.
- Menphina is Memphis. Both are used interchangeably by everyone except for those who are devout to her.
- Enki and Kul'Zac get to keep their names because I like their names, but Kul'Zac is occasionally called Kuzach in some villages.
Bonus:
- Irini's sister doesn't exist in this rewrite, she's replaced by Ein (or he Transed his gender, whichever you prefer)
- Scyrini's (my version of Shadrene) daughter was named Althea
- Ein was Irini's brother, and has had various different names to those who know of him (Dæli in Ru'Aun, Koino in Gal'Ruk, and 'Her Brother' in Majurî, which is a small island and his primary place of worship)
Anyways, that's it for now

In my rewrite Aaron is like Aph’s mentor and he calls her kid like 24/7, so when Shad returns with Aaron’s body he made this whole assumption that Irene is just under a new name and used Aaron as his replacement and shit
So with this, Aph immediately realizes that things aren’t right because
1. Aaron is supposed to be dead, like very dead
2. I have this whole thing where Aaron is very very warm temp wise so when Aphmau goes to touch him and he’s ice cold (because that is very much a dead body) she’s like “wtf”
3. Shad has completely mistaken what Aphmau and Aaron’s relationship was so he’s trying to like be romantic & shit
This all basically ends up in Aphmau going “Who the hell are you, because you are not the man that I knew.”

Can I mention how incoherent divine warriors lore is?
Like. There was this group of like- six people who kept getting reincarnated, except for one
That's not a big issue. Sure it's vague, but it's not unreasonable.
There's way more issues though in everything else???
For the warriors in general: Jesson turned something that could be really interesting and dynamic into christianity lite, not many people in MyStreet knowing about anyone besides Irene. Which is crazy to me, because all the warriors- aside from Shad- were respected and worshipped in different parts of the world. Ru'aun even worshipped all the warriors, they just focused more on Irene.
Is it realistic that could happen? Yeah, fighting over religion is nothing new- am I pissed Jesson didn't expand it more when Irene is such a big part of the series? Absolutely.
Speaking of Irene!
I- she makes no sense
MCD!Aphmau is established to be Irene without her memories or her powers. Her powers locked away within a relic, and her memories sealed as well.
So how does Jesson explain Irene also being a tangible god. She's both MCD!Aphmau and an outside entity-
In our rewrite we made boundaries to this because Irene comes off as "I wrote myself into a corner and need a way out" sometimes.
So! Rewrite info dump I guess
In our rewrite every divine warrior there are thirteen because we felt like there should be a reason some of these people are so important that Irene made absolute sure they were involved in their next life is reincarnated, duh.
Irene's always been the one to facilitate who goes where, what family they're born into. This choice sometimes had the help of the other warriors, like Sabir, who's domain was time. But others, she had to do it on her own.
But I digress, the point is: Divine powers and memories being reincarnated into a mortal mixes poorly.
So, each warrior had a relic- or rather, their relic- a spirit, and a soul.
Their soul was the one to reincarnate, it was just the essence of their being.
Their relics could be hidden or handled by the other warriors, so that when the reincarnation was in the right time to learn- they could easily access and train those powers once again.
And spirits, they're the memories, the feelings, and even a lot of their magicks/witchcraft potential would be retained, everything that lingered because a new mortal wouldn't be able to handle them.
The warrior's spirits are connected to their reincarnation, their soul. If they draw too much power, if they become too separate, their reincarnation- and their soul- suffers. Aaron gets weaker as the Shadow Lord becomes stronger in both MCD and MYS, in Season 4 when Irene brings him back to life, Aphmau is suddenly so very weak.
So, most warriors' spirits stay shadowing their reincarnation. They're passive thoughts, senses of deja-vu, gut instincts. They can assume a vague form outside of their reincarnation, usually only appearing visually to said reincarnation, but choose not to because of the harm it would cause both themselves and their reincarnation.
Back before Irene & Aziz disappeared, when the reincarnations were told they were- well- reincarnations, and after they'd train with powers in order to do some good, their soul and spirit would blend. Mind you, it was still their reincarnation's mind and personality at this point, they just gained the memories that had been.. locked away. Their personality usually shifted, it wasn't always a pleasant thing to uncover, but it always had to be done.
So when Irene acts as a goddess, or even just as a separate being to Aphmau, it's just her spirit. Any time she pulls something big, changing the tides in a battle, bringing someone back to life, the drawbacks hit Aphmau
Irene also still is responsible for who gets reincarnated where, but before MCD!Aphmau came she was significantly weak, since she had no tangible energy to pull from. It's why the other warriors don't do what Shad does, and why Shad feeds off the shadow knights' energy after death. This also has the bonus of Aaron feeling.. unwell, every time a new knight is created
I really hope this makes sense also the shadow lord is Shad lmao

Divine Warriors
Here is some info dump about MCD's Divine Warriors in my rewrite, not all of this is known to the public of the mortal realm (especially the stuff about Shad.)
Irene the Matron: There isn't much known about Lady Irene's past, the only evidence they have are the scriptures Enki had written. Though most were burned. It is a common concept that she grew up in a small village (later Scaleswind) in Ru'aun. born from the ash of a god they say. She is incredibly strong, having healing magicks and the ability to bring those back from the dead as well as other abilities (mainly dimensional), Irene did not have a weapon. She can also change her form into a man but she rarely ever did this and it's said that she hated the form. After her disappearance (presumed death) which was 40 or so years after the fight with Shad. She was worshipped more commonly, which her worship later became widespread. Irene is worshipped as the god of medicine/health, the afterlife, agriculture and hope. She is associated with doves (because of her wings) and lavender, around churches and royalty/nobles homes, you will see statues of doves and fields of lavender. It's said that natural forming fields of lavender are places blessed by Irene. Although mainly worshipped in Ru'aun she is seen and heard all over the world.
Menphia the Fury: She grew up in Tu'la near the capital, one of the very few in Tu'la who was human. Menphia came from a well off noble family, she was a strong girl who could wield almost any close combat weapon. She became one of the princesses' guards at the age of 19. There was a rumor that Menphia and the princess were having an affair but it was never denied nor confirmed. She became a protector of Irene and later one of the Divine Warriors, she also had a pet tiger. Her magicks are very limited but they consist of strength and speed. Menphia used multiple different close combat weapons (swords, maces, battle axes, etc). She died during the fight with Shad to save Enki. She is worshipped mainly in Gal'ruk and Tu'la and usually by guards or soldiers. She is worshipped as the god of rage, strength, war, and courage. She is associated with tigers and fire. Her statues always have a tiger at her legs.
Shad the Destroyer: Not much is known about Shad at all, Enki himself destroyed practically everything that he had written about Shad. Them and Irene were close, the common conception was that they were lovers. Irene and Shad had a fight because he was a danger to mortals. Irene sealed Shad deep inside a mountain for 10 years, he later escaped and caused havoc. Although Irene and many of the other warriors had pushed her to their breaking point it was Shad himself who decided to be spiteful and become the Shadow Lord. Xavier was the first ever shadow knight. Their magicks consist of strength, telekinesis, and break dimension barriers. She can change their form much like Irene, to a woman, man, or a form of neither. He seems to enjoy this unlike Irene. Many depictions of Shad are different in gender because of this. Very few mortals worship him but she is seen as the god of deception, chaos, death, and tragedy. He is commonly associated with crows and lily of the valleys.
Enki the Keeper: Enki had many journals detailing both his and the other warriors lives yet he either burned most or hid them away, very few were actually found. He grew up in a home of warriors in Gal'ruk but despite this he became a scholar. He is known to have been in love with many, Menphia, Irene, Esmund's brother. Likely Xavier too. He was born without any magicks but he did know a bit of witchcraft. His abilities after getting a relic were; un-human observation, speed, and levitation. Enki barely fought but when he did he used an ink brush (much like Qiu Yongsi from Tianbao Fuyao lu). Enki died 5 or so years after the battle with Shad. He is worshipped in Gal'ruk and is a common figure head for literature. He is the god of; ink and paper, literature, language, and love. Enki is commonly associated with owls and snow.
Esmund the Protector: Much is known about him as he was the eldest son of one of the most well known historians, Ruthin Ro'meave. He grew up in Ru'aun, he became a guard and later became a Divine Warrior. Esmund was commonly known for his beauty that rivaled Irene's. He was deeply in love with Irene which caused a strain between Irene, Shad and Esmund. His younger brother was horrifically injured during a battle while under Shad's watch which caused Esmund to become even more resentful of Shad. Despite wanting to help defeat Shad he decided to stay behind and protect. He died 30 years before Irene's disappearance. He is worshipped in Ru'aun usually by Lords of villages seeking protection. He is the god of; protection, safety, loyalty, victory, and family. Esmund is associated with swords and diamonds.
Kul'zak the Wanderer: They grew up near the docks of Tu'la, they were a meif'wa. They helped with travel when ships docked on Tu'la. Kul'zak was the first Divine Warrior after Irene, and a nomad. They were a very good bard and a little mischievous. They were the oldest of the Divine Warriors and the one to have kept them all together. After the Divine Warriors split they traveled and spoke of legends for 10 years before dying. Unlike the other Divine Warriors they aren't worshipped in one place, they are worshipped as the god of; travel. merchants, alcohol and music. Kul'zak is associated with intoxication and the flute.

Currently working on a fanfic glimpse of the origins of Irene's iconic blue hood.
Hint: it has a lot to do with Shad (in a good way).
Anyway, I love Shad and Irene, but sometimes Shad sounds too much like Chad for me to take it seriously, so he got a name change. So did Irene. They are known as Ashadd and Irina in my little fic.
I don't know if I'll post it here, as I don't really like my own writing style (but also crave the approval of this fic). We'll see.
Interestingly, while I was looking at alternative names, supposedly (meaning according to google) the Welsh name "Arawn" means king of the otherworld and could be a Welsh version of Aaron. HMMM. Interesting, considering Shad pretty much rules the nether, and Aaron is his descendant. Mainly speculation here, though.
I don't know, ya'll. But let me know what you guys think about me posting the little mini-fic.
