i’ve been wanting to do some sonic characters in undertale’s style for a while and @summers-art’s shadowtale au gave me the perfect opportunity ❤️ (bonus under the cut)

Shadowtale Corruption/Infection stages!

The Infection that afflicts Shadowtale is due to a code corruption latching onto a illness and altering it.

The infection works in stages

Stage 1: Feels almost like the flu or a bad cold. Nausea, overheating but also feeling cold.

Stage 2: actually it’s own separate stage but could also be thrown with stage 1. Stage 2 is irritability and a slowly increasing temper, it gets to a point where the infected is quick to both anger and violence.

Stage 3: Mania

Stage 4: Revert to more feral behavior while keeping one or two characteristics personality wise. Undyne is a perfect example as she kept her overly aggressive/brash nature.

Stage 5: Mutation.

Extra Notes:

Stage 3 to stage 4 varies. Sometimes the person can die due to self inflicted injuries, or everything just becomes too much for their body and soul to handle. The time between stage 4 and 5 is incredibly short, only around a few hours to a day, but because they are technically separate instances it’s easier to classify them separately. Mutations do slowly occur from stage one onwards but its only minor mutations such as sharper teeth or fangs, claws, or sometimes an increase in height by a few inches.

The infections flue like symptoms decrease as it continues along its progression. Some symptoms like increased temperature or headaches, or even phlegm build up in the lungs can increase. Others such as the drowsiness or stuffy/runny nose disappear once it starts progressing in Stage 2.
