I saw ur post about Mal and Alina and I was like, FINALLY, going through Alina's tag and seeing all the content for darkalina...🤢, Like I understand the allure or whatever, but THE STORY LITERALLY BEGINS WITH THEM, they were endgame from the beginning! And I find it very wholesome that they run an orphanage together out of love, after all they went through that's what they deserve

Hahaha YOU ARE WELCOME ANON believe me, there are a lot more of us Malina stans than you’d think. We’re just... quieter, bc our ship is canon so we’re like lol and what ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 

And no same, I adore the ending. Every single book begins and ends with Mal and Alina, everybody else is named in those chapters but they are ‘the boy’ and ‘the girl’. This is their story, the two children who were best friends and fell in love and had unknown power flowing through their veins and were both needed to save the world... and now that they’ve saved it, they get to live the peaceful, happy, love-filled life that they craved with each other.

I do understand why some people feel Mal is disrespectful to Alina with her powers, but I also feel they’re missing the point; Mal knows Alina better than anyone else, and he knows how suffocating she finds this life she’s been thrown into. He knows she is healthier for having the power, but also knows that she would give up everything that comes with it in a heartbeat. And he ultimately has to watch the love of his life go through intensely traumatic situations, crushed by an unfathomable weight of expectation - I think it’s fair to say that all of us would wish we could remove the person we loved from that strain. 

I still maintain that the core of the Grisha trilogy is about how Alina and Mal are a twist on the ‘chosen one’ tropes, because both of them are absolutely needed to save the world, and that the central thread of the story is how they will choose each other again and again and again no matter what life throws at them.

I also lowkey hope that we see Alina and Mal in Rule of Wolves now that a certain Darkling has returned but we shall see
