Kenan/Shanyue
4. Favorite non-sexual activity?
Actually, bathing together. It's way more of a social/bonding experience for them than anything sexy and it was legitimately the first real interaction they had upon meeting for the first time. I could actually expound on this quite a lot, since Kenan came from a background that was a lot more prudish about nudity and Shanyue came from a culture that doesn't automatically sexualize 90% of interaction between the sexes.
25. Who needs more assurance?
Kenan by a long shot. For all his attitude, he's really really insecure. Especially when he's being treated kindly. He's constantly waiting for the other proverbial shoe to drop.
26. Their theme song:
I haven't quite found a theme yet that fits the both of them together, but Gravity Eyelids is an easy contender. For a quick pick.

Damask/Errare
5. Who is most likely to carry the other?
If we're talking fully off the ground, Errare, purely in terms of height. He's taller and a bit broader in the shoulders (well, at least after he filled out, because he was a beanpole as an adolescent), so it's easier for him to lift Damask clear off the ground. However. If we're including something like a walking assist as carrying, Damascus 100%.
10. Who remembers what the other one orders at a restaurant?
Errare. He's not super showy about much anything, particularly in a close relationship (considers it private business and nobody else has any right to pry), so he generally shows his care in other ways. Little gestures and mindfulness. Like remembering a favorite order.
26. Their theme song:
You know, I never really had an official song for them before, but lately because I've been mulling over their past relationship a lot, I've been really feeling this one. "I said I'd never miss you, but I guess you never know. May the bridges I have burned light my way back home on the Fourth of July."

Biodegradable aerogel: Airy cellulose from a 3D printer
At first glance, biodegradable materials, inks for 3D printing and aerogels don't seem to have much in common. All three have great potential for the future; however, "green" materials do not pollute the environment, 3D printing can produce complex structures without waste, and ultra-light aerogels are excellent heat insulators. Empa researchers have now succeeded in combining all these advantages in a single material. And their cellulose-based, 3D-printable aerogel can do even more. The study is published in Advanced Science. The material was created under the leadership of Deeptanshu Sivaraman, Wim Malfait and Shanyu Zhao from Empa's Building Energy Materials and Components laboratory, in collaboration with the Cellulose & Wood Materials and Advanced Analytical Technologies laboratories as well as the Center for X-ray Analytics.

My headcanon on Mongolias age and origins
I gave Mongolia the age of being around 1700. The first major nomadic confederation was the Khunnu (Xiongnu) from the 3rd BCE to 1st century AD which later became conquered by the Xianbei who then established their Empire in the 1st to 4th century AD. Mongols and Mongol scholars consider the Xiongnu and Xianbei to be their ancestors. In 2011, the 2,200th anniversary of Modun Shanyu's establishment of the Khunnu state was decreed by Mongolia's president at the time, Elbegdorj as the "founding state" of the Mongols. I do not make Mongolia as old as the Xiongnu however I wanted to make it clear that it's important to acknowledge what Mongols hold close to their heart when it comes to their own history and their ties to previous nomadic Empires.
The Mongolian State, Mongols, Mongols scholars and scholars of North East Asia  consider Mongols to be descendants of the Xiongnu and the Xianbei, the original term for the Mongols that the Chinese gave them being "Mengwushiwei", Shiwei are descendants of the Xianbei. It has been said that the intermixing between the Xiongnu and Xianbei was the genesis of the Mongolic/Mongolian people.
This is because the Yuwen, being descendants of the Southern Xiongnu , assimilated with the Xianbei in 89 CE (when the Xiongnu were heavily weakened but not yet defeated), thus creating the Shiwei Xianbei branch. The Shiwei Xianbei branch which included 19 other Shiwei clans other than (present) Mongolia who was called the "Mengwushiwei" at this time descended from the Xianbei assimilated Yuwen.
Mongolia originally was labelled "Mengwushiwei" by the Chinese in the 10th century book "The Ancient book of Tang", and he has relations to the previous Xiongnu through the Xianbei assimilated Yuwen (Southern Xiongnu) and was "born" a little before the Xiongnu were finally defeated in the early 4th century.
I justify this by using the Shiwei's relation to the Khitans and the records of the Shiwei during the Northern Wei period/"Tuoba dynasty" (Northern China) 386–535. The Tuoba dynasty was founded by the Tuoba clan of the Xianbei.
The Book of Wei (written 551-554 and was a historical text written by Wei Shou which aimed at recording the details of the Northern Wei period of 386-536) suggests the Shiwei and Khitan shared the same language, the Book of Sui says they were of the same kind of people, and both the New Book of Tang and Old Book of Tang claim the Shiwei were a collateral branch of the Khitan. Historian Wan Guowei described the Shiwei as a Khitan tribe, indicating some ethnic similarities between them. The Khitan were Xianbei tribes who became independent after 234 CE after the Xianbei state dissolved and from the 4th century, lived in the areas which is now modern day Mongolia, Russia (far East) and Northern China.
Both Khitans and Shiwei spoke a Mongolic language. Both Khitan and Shiwei (also Tuoba)were Xianbei tribes and and so their emergence could have very well been around the same time period , perhaps early Shiwei tribes emerging a little later after 234 CE (after the Khitan first emerged and a little before the Xiongnu were finally defeated, which is why I'm giving Mongolia the birth date of early 300 CE) considering how it was speculated how the Shiwei were a branch off of the Khitan or were even the same as the Khitan. The latter is not true but it goes to show that they probably emerged during similar times.
Also as previously mentioned, the Khitans lived in the areas of Mongolia, China and Russia in the 4th century/300 CE before their claim to fame in the 10th century when they founded the Liao dynasty - similar to how Mongolia was also around during this time as a random Shiwei rep before his claim to fame in the 13th century.
Further, in the year 443, the Wuluohun, a tribe of Shiwei (this is not Mongolia but one of his "siblings" I guess as the Wuluohun Shiwei were one of the 20 other Shiwei tribes other than Mongolia/Mengwushiwei), presented evidence of a Xianbei ancestral cave called the Gaxian cave in northern Inner Mongolia to the Tuoba Xianbei court. This discovery supports the belief that the Shiwei preserved early Xianbei traditions better than the Tuoba did and justifies their Xianbei origins. It also further justifies my headcanon of the Shiwei clans/at least some of the 20 Shiwei clans being born around 300 CE because it's not like they turned up out of nowhere in 443 CE.
So I'm using a mix of historicity and some commonly agreed hetalia-verse rules of nations emerging before gaining a stronger identity, and my own personal predestination headcanon that whatever is the most likely to happen in the foreseeable future will begin to seep through into the present for some nations - so for example if the fall of a kingdom is bound to happen or is very likely to happen, the nation itself will somewhat become physically or mentally weaker.
If in the future, a nation will be in the spotlight as a very powerful nation, if the nation already exists, even before their claim to fame, they'll already experience better strength and whatnot. If the nation does not exist, they could be "born" a little earlier. Which is what I did for Mongolia to an extent however I've also heavily used historicity to justify his birth date for my headcanons.
Mongolia's early life/life before the rise of Genghis Khan he was quite weak and it wasn't until the rise of Genghis Khan, when he brought the other Shiwei/Mongol clans under one name/banner, that Mongolia rose above other Shiwei personifications who could have potentially become the next big thing.
The birthplace of the the Mongols is the East Bank of the Erguna river and they gradually began to move westwards around the 7th century (Mongolia migrated 300 years after his "birth". Coincidentally this is also around the time the Tang dynasty started which probably explains Mengwushiwei being recorded in a historical book about the Tang dynasty). By the 12th century they were living around the Onon, Kerulen and Tola rivers which was East to the Kent mountains.
Because of this, I think Mongolia's "birth" was literally him crawling out of the Erguna river as a small child.
I remember seeing this headcanon years ago but it was that the first sighting ever of Mongolia by another living being was him as a child asleep on a horse and I think that's so cute and I have adopted that into my own headcanon about him.
I believe he was relatively weak during a lot of his early life (not weak to the point he was bedridden/couldn't do anything but just physically not strong and got iIl easily).
In the 10th century, in the Chinese book "The Ancient book of Tang", was when "Mengwushiwei" was first mentioned/recorded as having existed during the Tang period (618-907) so as an entity not only was he gaining stability and a stronger sense of identity, but he was gaining some attention, too. So he stopped getting ill as easily but he definitely wasn't powerful at this point. He wasn't just some random young looking immortal Shiwei clan rep who would eventually fall off/die off once another young looking immortal Shiwei clan rep became the next big thing - he was the next big thing. Or was going to be anyways. It was really quite contentious at first when there were 19 other Shiwei clans other than himself but the contentiousness is what helped kept him afloat at first rather than dying off.
This justification of his age is both from researching the lineage of the Mongols (they trace their lineage to the Donghu, Xianbei, Xiongnu) and taking into account what Mongols consider their own history (the Mongolian State celebrating the anniversary of the establishment of the Xiongnu state) and also hetaliaverse nation rules of nations "emerging" as their own entities before they gain a stronger identity. So to an extent I have used commonly agreed on hetaliaverse rules to justify his age but it's nothing too insane I don't think.
He wouldn't be classified as an ancient I don't think but he's definitely old.

I like to think how Hades contrast between the villains that come before him and after. Hades is stuck between Frollo and Shanyu who are two serious villains with a kill count. I think Hades would prefer Shanyu due to his death count and think he's an effective villain while with Frollo he couldn't stant him due to him being ahypocrite and again in denial he's a villain. I could see Shanyu being open about his villain label and not mindng it. Also again he would support trying to conqueror shit and stuff.
That’s true! Hades was created during the renaissance era right after Hunchback and right before Mulan lol!
But wow, I never actually took into account the body count for villains 🤣 legit Hades didn’t even kill anyone in the movie (I don’t think Meg counts because the deal with Hercules was Meg wasn’t supposed to get hurt, so Hades wasn’t planning on Meg to die because that would ruin his plans and it did, also Hades himself didn’t actually kill her, he was up on Olympus doing his thing lol). As far as I know, I’ve only seen Hades ever kill one person and that was Hippocrates in the animated series lol (there was that incident with Icarus too in The Big Kiss, but as he said “he’s not DEAD dead, he’s in eternal sleep mode, but he’s not DEAD” and he also let Croesus [supposedly] drown in the Big Sink episode but yeah). So, Hades has never ACTUALLY killed anybody in the movie which is pretty crazy. I mean, he did try to have baby Hercules killed and thought he was dead for 18 years, but he never died so…yeah. Crazy lol. Though, I’d like to think that offscreen it’s most likely that Hades does have body count lol. It wouldn’t be a large number just because personally I don’t think Hades would be that big a fan of “getting his hands dirty” and would rather his minions take care of that kind of thing or just let the Fates do their job. But I do think Hades would definitely respect the other villains’ body counts lol, more business for him right?
But yeah, as I mentioned in my last ask about Hades and Frollo, the dudes DEFINITELY don’t like each other (at least I don’t think so lol, I’ve seen other universes in fanart where they get along and I like it, but personally I just don’t think they’d click with such drastic world views and personalities). Also I can totally see Frollo denying that he’s a villain too lol!
I can also definitely see Hades preferring Shan Yu over Frollo too. This dude took out freaking CITIES in China, so he has mad respect for his work ethic lol. He too tries to take over a huge place, so Hades knows how it is where you’re trying to overthrow someone and you get taken down by someone you least expect. I also can totally see Shan Yu accepting he’s a villain and being proud of it like the others lol.

I'm rather surprised there is actually some historical truth to Jiangdong in 190 being mostly free of warlords. Though it does still feel a bit weird you can just walk in there no problem. I guess this is more of a video game mechanics question than a historical one, but what would be a good way to handle places that were effectively "Uncontrolled"?
This is one of those things where video games do a bad job of capturing the reality.
When Dong Zhuo took control of the government, the Inspector of Yang province was an official named Chen Wen. However, he never acted as a warlord. He provided material support for Cao Cao's early campaigns and was theoretically affiliated with Yuan Shao, but he did not raise armies of his own or participate in any battles. Yuan Shu attacked him at Shouchun and killed him in 193. Theoretically, then, you could put Jiangdong and the rest of Yang province under Chen Wen's control. The reality was a lot more complicated.
Most of Jiangdong was effectively outside of the Han empire. The Han population lived in towns, cities, and villages along the rivers and lakes. These regions were very distant from the Han center of power. As a result, local magnates gained a great deal of power and often became the effective governors of their territories, with the Han-appointed bureaucrats merely authorizing their activities.
So in the settled lands, you had top bureaucrats appointed by the Han central court. Their authority was often contingent upon the cooperation of the leading local clans. Once the Han government was effectively defunct, these centrally-appointed bureaucrats didn't have much of a foundation to stand on and avoided rocking the boat (to mix some metaphors).
Most of the region consists of rugged hills and small mountains where the Han lifestyle did not naturally thrive. These regions were left in the hands of autonomous Yue people (the "hill Yue" or Shanyue). At most, Han insisted that the most powerful local leaders make shows of submission and send tribute, but they were largely left to their own devices. Most of Sun Quan's military expansion was southwards, establishing actual control over a great deal of physical territory that Han had always claimed but never inhabited.
On top of all this, Han administrative quirks further isolated Jiangdong. It was part of Yang province, but the province was governed from the north of the river, where we find cities like Huan and Shouchun. Warlords were happy to establish themselves on that side of the river but cared little for what happened south of it.
Tao Qian attempted to establish authority among these groups of people but had to break off his advances when Yuan Shu arrived in Shouchun. His nascent network was quickly co-opted by Liu Yao, Wu was able to provide effective resistance to Yuan Shu until Sun Ce's arrival.

Fun fact: this was drawn up back in 2021 (you can see my art style has changed a little since then).. And due to my tremendous propensity for procrastination.. I've only just gotten around to colouring it.
Finally finished it.. And it only took me 3 years ✌️👌👍

How easy is it to earn their trust?
It's really hard to gain Kei's trust. He's been kicked around and mistreated for as long as he can remember by pretty much everyone around him for the first 20-30 years of his life. (Incidentally, he isn't aware of his potential longevity, so before the story about him begins, he assumes he's got the same lifespan as a human, because humans are all he's known.) He's very gun-shy about connections and relationships with others, and his aggression comes from that shyness and fear. Earning his trust requires a lot of patience, like one might use for a feral dog. Move too fast and he might bite. Literally.
What animal do they fear most?
Assuming this question intended non-sapient creatures in the original post, but I'm going to disregard this entirely and say HUMANS. He's never encountered any beast or bird or fish that he truly feared, but humans are the ones who have caused him so much pain. As a continuation of what I said for the question about his trust, humans might be his daily reality and the abuse he's endured has driven him to lengths to cope with aggression, mistrust, mild alcoholism, and disguising his appearance in sometimes uncomfortable ways (coiling his tail around close to his body/legs to keep it from showing under his cloak isn't especially comfortable, but it's become almost second-nature to him even though it completely screws with his sense of balance), but it's all driven by fear. His fear response got skewed as a child because cowering or begging for mercy did not offer him solace, but lashing out and laying low definitely protected him, even if it was at the expense of "proving" his innocence. Definitely doesn't help that the people he was actually close to and trusted also were hurt because of their association with him.
What is their preferred mode of transportation?
He walks. Everywhere. Even when he does discover his wings, he walks. His feet are reliable and it's a little surprising how little that people look at your feet.
Could they be considered lazy?
In a word, no. The word lazy sort of implies a kind of laxness in posture and comportment that Kenan is almost incapable of. He's constantly on edge. Even when he's not doing anything in particular, he is hypervigilant most of the time. That's why he never really looks relaxed or comfortable, even when he's apparently relaxing.
Shanyue (Shu is her family name, the Shu-ren do family name first, given name second!)
Tumblr media
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
Little things that remind her of the person that she cared for. In her homeland, she served as a personal bodyguard and handmaid (as pointed out to me later, much like Sabe et al for Padme Amidala in Star Wars - not an intentional inspiration, but nevertheless descriptive) for a princess. They were very close friends, and after Maolong went missing, that's what drives her journey. Things that remind her of the days before she left, before Mao disappeared, that nostalgia is what motivates her. She sees a lot of it in Kenan in very intangible ways.
What makes their stomach turn?
Actually, not a lot. She has a lot of emotional control because she was specially trained from a young age for her duties, and being able to control her reactions was a big part of that. If anything churns her stomach, I haven't really discovered it yet.
Who are they the most glad to have met?
The apparent answer in the plot might be Kenan, but I honestly think her pleasure at meeting him is slightly edged out by her relationship with Maolong. She comes from a village that specifically trains servants and guards for the royal lineage, and there's not a whole lot of choice in it. It's considered a great honor. She grew up with this, but honor or no, she did have worries as a child about who she would be assigned to. Maolong was older than her, but they became very close and it enforced Yue's devotion to her duties and the kinship is her biggest motivation. She is nevertheless happy to know Kenan (and later, Nanek) and they become very important to her, too.
