I think something that gets lost in the discourse of whether Beren and Luthien were wrong for not giving the Silmaril to the Fëanorians is that Luthien was kidnapped and held captive by Celegorm and Curufin, whose end goal was forcing her to marry - and with how Tolkien's elf marriage=sex that would require sexual assault or coercion in the very least - and then tried to murder her fiancé. And to her knowledge, C+C were never reprimanded for it by the other brothers. The only public consequence they got from their own family was in the form of Celebrimbor leaving. I love the Fëanorians, I really do, but if I were in Luthien's shoes, I would tell the entire family (minus Celebrimbor) to get fucked. I would not be taking the moral high ground and handing over the Silmaril to the guys who imprisoned me and tried to kill my loved one for sake of property rights and family heirlooms. so if any of y'all have ever purchased e-books from Amazon, then you should log in to your Amazon account, and under your Content Library, download all your e-books to your computer and transfer them to your kindle reader via USB, or send them directly to your preferred device (if you have more than one connected to your Amazon account) via wifi by clicking "Deliver or Remove from this device" and switching the device you want to send it to

Once you've downloaded all your purchased e-books, not ones that are borrowed from Kindle Unlimited or Prime Reading, download the free Calibre e-book management software and this DRM removal plugin to remove the DRM (digital rights management) from your e-books, which converts your kindle e-books into the universal e-book format EPUB or whatever other ebook format you'd like, bc the Kindle ebook format AZW and AZW3, can only be used on Kindle readers, but by removing the DRM, they can then be used on any device that reads the EPUB format

BUT why should you do all this? bc on Feb. 26, 2025 (one week from now as of the time I posted this) Amazon will no longer provide this download option bc they're aware that people have been downloading their e-books from their kindle libraries and using software like Calibre to convert those e-books into EPUBs and not have to be tied down to Amazon's ecosystem, which makes them lose money (boohoo), and also the switch towards cloud-based storage

Basically, any e-books you have purchased from Amazon are not yours to own, you're essentially being licensed the e-book, so they can use this loophole to alter or completely remove those e-books from the website at their whim, and you would no longer have access to those e-books, even though you legally purchased them, which is wild bc we should be able to legally own, forever, any digital media we buy and do what we want with it, and this is something that has been happening with other forms of digital media like movies and video games, where you "buy" a digital copy but you don't actually own it

You should also stop buying e-books from amazon from now on since you don't even own them, and cancel your Kindle Unlimited subscription if you have one, and you might as well download any audiobooks you've purchased on Audible (which is also owned by Amazon)

Alternatives to kindle readers include: Kobo (has integration with Libby) and Nook (from Barnes & Noble), or sell or donate the one you have if you don't want to use it anymore

Alternatives to amazon e-books: Libby (free app that links to your local library if you have an active library card where you can borrow ebooks and other digital media), Internet Archive, Project Gutenburg, 🏴‍☠️ ebooks and PDFs, and research whether your favorite author has books available to purchase directly on their website

....and you can always purchase or borrow physical books and other media as well! support your local libraries and indie bookstores!

TL,DR: this is a matter of media ownership, censorship, and archiving, so download your Amazon e-books NOW before Amazon takes away your ability to access the items that you legally purchased and locks you down to using their devices and ecosystem

Hey gamers- so my ttrpg group consists pretty much entirely of online folk and with us thinking about running CAIN at some point I went hunting for a sheet template I could use on docs so my character would be easily shareable with my group. Couldn’t find one, ended up making one for myself, thought I’d share it in case that ends up being useful for other online only groups o7 !! The exorcist card and CAIN symbol are both direct out of the book, everything else is tables that you should be able to move around if you want stuff in different places. Link to the template here, just make a copy and fill in for your character :]

Notes: it’s definitely a desktop beast as mobile formatting breaks the layout pretty heavy, it’s readable but not very functional. Also please be nicies to me it’s my first time trying to make a sheet layout in docs ᓚᘏᗢ //EDIT: meowdy folks I have!! Updated this!! link to the new version found here. You can Absolutely still use the old version just fine hence why I'm leaving it, but the new sheet is cleaner and easier to edit to have more boxes as needed imo, and has a segment for Bonds + an optional lore page with personnel notes if you want to write out some observations from CAIN :3 enjoy!!

I've seen a lot of stories lately about different duos splitting, and it made me wonder... Why do you think MMY and DMD seem so good at creating duos that last?

DMD certainly had their rough phase, nearly every duo they launched with originally when they swapped to a drama house split (except for Jimmy and Tommy, their split was special circumstances).

I know MMY let one partner pick the other (Either Boss picked Noeul or Noeul picked Boss, and I think... did Fort pick Peat or other way? IDK about ChanyaAya or ForthDonut). But MMY also puts out shows so slowly that it's still not clear if duos will be long lasting or not (well, to be fair, FortPeat and BossNoeul have both said recently that they have zero intentions of splitting within the next several years).

DMD really hit lightning in a bottle with ZeeNuNew, MaxNat, and TutorYim staying together for so long. IDK what they were doing to get it so right, but they do genuinely seem to have good eggs who get along really well with one another personally and professionally.

Maybe this is related, but those two companies, their shows have this feeling like... you can tell when they had a lot of fun filming a show. Even if you never saw the behind the scenes, you can tell they care, they had a lot of passion for the story and the characters, and they just seem to genuinely enjoy each other's presence.
