I have so many thoughts but I at least want to address the "for the new unicorn" note. because first of all it's so incredibly gratifying for izzy to finally be accepted into a community. it was shown before that the crew cares for him in some way but it was the first time he really saw that. that he isn't useless and alone, that he still has a place on the ship. even more so the crew WANTS HIM to be on the ship. and also that they want him to embrace his disability which doesn't make them think any less of him.

but also the choice of words. because inherently it rings queer, unicorn as a symbol of queerness. and even if it may have a negative sound when you use it differently here it is extremely positive. izzy is not only accepted to the crew, he's also accepted to the queer community, to the family. the unicorn on the revenge was also the one that was leading the ship, so one can argue that they want him to take that role in their dynamic.

and you can see that he does so immediately. he puts himself together and starts helping the crew. he's still bitchy but no longer violent and cruel. he helps stede and lucius immensely because that is what he does now. he's part of the family. twat.

OH MY GOD

so i was sitting and thinking (a dangerous move) about ofmd s2, right? mostly i was thinking about Izzy and his story about the shark biting his leg off… and after some research i realized while it was possible, it was highly improbable…

the depth of holding (bottom of the ship to main deck) of The Revenge is ≈17.5ft and the amount that sits out of the water is ≈10ft, and while sharks can breach up to 10ft, they rarely do. it takes most of their energy to propel themselves out of the water. Plus, sharks done even like human meat and most attacks are just because sharks mistake surfers for seals…

so why would Izzy, a knowledgeable sailor, choose such an unbelievable story as that?

well, first, why did he even need that story to begin with? he knew he couldn’t stay mad at Ed so the best thing for him to do was move on…

It’s a pretty common myth that sharks can’t stop swimming without drowning (some sharks can’t but other sharks are able to stop and rest for periods of time)

Izzy recognized that if he “stopped swimming” (aka continued to dwell on the past) he would drown (in his case, in liquor) so the only real option was to keep going, keep swimming

Who is abyssus?

another main character I've barely developed 😈 what I do have on her is that she's a sort of marine biologist from this underwater Cybertron city (the city which turns out to be some leviathan titan lolz) who has studied hundreds of oceans both on cybertron and on other planets, since I want marine fauna here. The city is like ocean themed obviously so most of it's inhabitants have either sea creature or ocean vessel alt modes (I'm still toying around with this concept but Im thinking the reason for that is that there's like idk spark hotspots FROM the titan itself which gives them these specific alt modes. Because I like little themed stuff 😔 So everyone just pops out like that idk. Some ppl emerge with their alt modes others don't but they pick later it's just random in most places. Again I still need to think about this 😭). Abyssus herself is a triple changer, having a small submarine and a viperfish alt modes. She's fairly volatile and I'll tempered, but still very passionate about sea life, which is why she's this sort of reluctant "decepticon" spy in exchange for like research funds or somethang
