this is just like a "something i saw on tiktok problem" but like the concept of an "everything shower" and the treatment of it as some essential or relatable aspect of "womanhood" to me just shows 1. the ever growing push to associate being a woman with buying and consuming products and 2. how women who r feminine and who conform to societal beauty standards r always going to be seen as more of a woman than anyone else.

thinking about yohan placing the order for the monthly groceries to the AI butler and going to gaon and elijah's rooms to ask if they want/need anything. the domesticity of it ? elijah saying she ran out of a hair product or needs a specific brand of art supply. gaon making a list of what's needed for their meals and making comments about the quality of the stuff they got last time (don't order xyz brand of tomato concentrate it's too sweet and clashes with the other ingredients etc)

or yohan making the order from his phone on a sunday, propped on the kitchen doorframe in his robe and slippers, checking with them both if the list is correct and if nothing has been omitted

I didn't grow up with a mom who performed hyper femininity (wear a whole face of makeup, do her hair beyond throwing it into a claw clip etc) and nor did she expect that of her daughters so like... learning all of this as a 25 year old is wild. I really appreciate how free I was to do whatever I wanted with my appearance growing up - dye my hair, pierce my face, shave my head hair, not shave my body hair, wear clothes from the boys section, wear dresses, wear strange steampunk clothing of my own design to the grocery store, wear black lipstick to family dinners etc - but also having to learn "how to ~properly~ exist as a woman" (read: perform femininity) as a wholeass adult is making me insane.
