HEADCANON : a study in evolution

when jonathan fights mary in the graveyard she is a force to be reckoned with. as young an ekon as she is, mary is ruthless and exhibits a power no other ekon seems to possess: explosive blood. while other ekon possess different forms of blood manipulation, mary’s power is stronger and covers more ground. her fight with jonathan is messy and reckless and while she is often successful in defending herself with the pustules, she still falls to jonathan’s blade.

after she leaves london, she spends time experimenting with her ability. she learns to expand the reach of the pustules and to efficiently use the blood she’s consumed. over time her ability begins to evolve. not only can she manipulate blood she’d taken from her victim, but also her bite is a gateway to the blood inside the body. immediately after biting a human, mary can deliver her poison into the human’s blood and rot them from the inside out. this usually isn’t done for those she wishes to eat but it has helped with fending off other immortals.

and while she is still honing the skill, there have been a few times when mary was able to manipulate blood without ever having to bite another. her tie to it is enough to give her control of the other’s body for a brief period of time - to pin down a potential meal or even to stop blood from being delivered to their heart.

Do you ever think of the fact that if Azriel and Gwyn get together and presumably Mor and Emerie than Nesta will basically be what I like to call divine intervention for the romantic relationships in the night court because they would not exist without her being there and making friends? And let’s not forget about the fact that Nesta was the only one to play a role in getting Feyre to go back over the wall to see Tamlin which eventually led to Rhys?
