Woodburning practice update: I drew a flower! I drew it in pen (except for the left leaf) and then traced it. It came out about as steady handed and smooth as me drawing with more familiar tools, experiment success.

I like the "dot nib" for drawing with, as well as for using the metal stencil. It is obviously not suited to coloring in large areas though.

I have now learned why you draw in pencil or using carbon paper though, so you can properly erase your sketch.

While we were cleaning out Dad's house I found one of the blankets Somebody in the family crocheted, I don't know who it was but there were always these big elaborate pieces kicking around on couches and stuff while I was growing up because someone would make them and immediately hand them off. It's made of scratchy sheap acrylic and whoever worked on it was in such a hurry they didn't even weave in the ends, you can see where the skeins ran out and they just tied more on.

It's dirty and falling apart (it was being used as packing material out in the shed) but being a knitter myself it hurt too much to throw away, AND it's in trans colors so I've adopted it. I'm weirdly sentimental about this thing. The colorway certainly wasn't intentional, there are reasons I'm estranged, but it feels nice that it found its way here and I wanted to document it. I'm gonna patch it up and bleach out the stains and hopefully toss it on our new couch in our new house in a new state soon.
