Can someone at the NYAS take a tape measure to the Rivian R1T? via /r/cars
Can someone at the NYAS take a tape measure to the Rivian R1T?
Rivian won't publish the width between the wheel wells (I've asked), and I need to know if a 48.5" wide sheetgood will lay flat. No review even thinks to check. Screw your "Adventure Vehicle," I want a practical truck with minimal mechanical headaches.
For someone like me who hauls plywood pretty regularly, I really, really hate that a ranger is now as tall and as long as a F150 used to be, but still only has ~45" between the wheel wells. Same for almost every other midsize. The only midsize truck that you can lay sheetgoods flat in is a Honda Ridgeline, which is kinda meh.
Help a brother out?

Welcome; This is your Farm House
Maybe it was Phish. Perhaps it was the weather. It's probably just the idea that there is something very wrong with me.
I like to build things. I don't do rest or relax or downtime well. When I have it - the black dog comes out and... well... it's a short trip from there to Peyote James.
So, we stay busy. For the last couple of years, I've been able to use all of that extra time on professional endeavors (IP, ML, MMLT, etc.) - but with those where they are today (in exec mode - no longer in creative way) - I need a new outlet for my need to create.
I love mixing old and new. Software with Hardware. Real with Digital.
I look forward to being able to get into robotics when we finish with Infoplus - but until then I have this: woodworking.
I love woodworking, and in particular, I love building cabinets.
The only real problem that I have run into over the past few is that the software I have found has always left me wanting more.
Much of it focuses on things that I don't find interesting.
I don't need to vislize the entire house.
I don't need to draft them by drawing them.
I don't need to be able to apply different finishes and view it all in 3D.
What I need to be able to do is create the cabinets I am going to build, defining the dimensions, styles, materials, and attributes, and then have a nice set of plans and cut sheets created for me.
Maybe even a little cut sheet optimization for sheetgood even...
We'll see.
So for now, we are starting a new project.
Maker4.
We'll see where this goes...
ohh, and some of the mojo for this project? Right now it is coming from my collection of favorite tracks in Apple music - Phish will be on repeat for a good start of this project.

You've got the day off and you're sitting around being bored? How about some woodworking eye candy? Here's another set of pictures from my recent visit to Germany. This is from Wulf Kappes Tischlereibedarf in Hamburg. It's essentially a carpentry supply house that does a lot of mail order. They carry some tools, finishing supplies, sheetgoods, and butcherblocks. However, their real claim to fame is the INCREDIBLE selection of moldings and general "shapes" that can cover just about any possible need. The owner, Wulf, was very kind. He gave us an extensive tour and told us all about his many trips to the States. You can download their catalogs from their website (https://www.kappes-hamburg.de/) and I'll also have a copy at the shop.

How many saws do you have? I already have a circular saw, table saw (or 2) but couldn't pass on this deal from @toolnut So I got yet another saw and I'm glad I did. It enables me to make cuts that were impossible before. Great job Mafell on making this Bosch track saw. #mafell #mafellfan #mafelltools #saw #tracksaw #circularsaw #choob #melamine #sheetgoods #toolstoday #moderntools #powertools #track #gooddeal #deal #letstalkabouttools #toolstuesday #toolsday #toolsdaytuesday #cutit #woodworker #newtools #basementshop #zagłębiarki #basementworkshop #narzędzia #workshop #marcenaria #carpenteria #ebanistería (at Alexandria, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAp4m1VjdRi/?igshid=1o0pgmwt50q20

I still have pictures from a few places in Germany that you woodworkers may be interested in. We have Lowes and Home Depot. Germany has BauHaus and Obi. The local BauHaus looked very similar to what we expect from a Big Box store. There were some minor differences in the tool selection. They carry the homeowner grade of green Bosch tools and a brand that we don't see, AEG. Dimensional lumber was slightly oversized. Plenty of sheetgoods, and everything else we have in our blue and orange stores.
