After being forced to push the Season 3 premiere date for its hit comedy Ghosts to February 15, 2024 amidst this summer’s dual strikes, CBS is readying for its return to production, star Danielle Pinnock has revealed.
“We start shooting on Saturday. I fly down to Montreal. We’re going back, baby!” exclaimed Pinnock tonight, in conversation with Deadline at the red carpet premiere for her new Amazon MGM holiday film, Candy Cane Lane. “We did a table read — those scripts are good!”
Pinnock expects the show to shoot “only 10 episodes this season,” rather than the 18+ that have been put out in its first two go-rounds, because of both strike-forced delays and the fact that her co-star Sheila Carrasco is expecting her first child. Still, she teased, “those episodes are fierce and the audiences should prepare themselves.”
Developed for CBS by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who serve as showrunners, Ghosts adapts the popular 2019 British comedy series of the same name from BBC Studios. The show follows the story of Samantha (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), a struggling young couple whose dreams come true when they inherit a beautiful country house, only to find it’s both falling apart and inhabited by many of the deceased previous residents.
In discussing the show’s forthcoming season, Pinnock revealed that fans can expect to see more of her character, the Prohibition-era lounge singer ghost Alberta, as well as Hetty Woodstone (Rebecca Wisocky), one of the original residents of the home Samantha and Jay inhabit. “This season,” she said, “Alberta’s going to be in her shenanigans.”
Ranking as both the #1 comedy series on Paramount+ and CBS’ most-streamed program, per Nielsen and CBS, Ghosts also stars Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, and Devan Chandler Long. CBS Studios produces in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios’ Los Angeles production arm. In addition to Port and Wiseman, EPs include Mathew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond and Martha Howe-Douglas; Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward and Alison Owen (Monumental Television); and Angie Stephenson (BBC Studios).

Ghosts: CBS Begins Production on Pilot Based on Hit BBC Sitcom (Bleeding Cool)
'The CBS pilot of Ghosts, a US remake of the hit BBC sitcom, has begun production. The pilot was originally greenlit for production in February but was delayed by the pandemic when the whole Film and TV industry shut down. The American pilot features Rose McIver, previous from I, Zombie, and Utkarash Ambudkar in the leads as a 20-something couple who inherit a country mansion only to find it's full of ghosts from different periods of history.
---more---
Asher Grodman, Danielle Pinnock, Richie Moriarty, Sheila Carrasco, and Román Zaragoza round out the rest of the cast with fellow co-stars Rebecca Wisocky and Brandon Scott Jones. The pilot is by writers Joe Port & Joe Wiseman in a co-production between Lionsgate Television, BBC Studios, and CBS Studios.

The American Ghosts
Grodman plays Trevor. A finance bro who died in the late 1990s, Trevor's life was "sick" and his partying at a "high level." Limos, bottle service, Hamptons parties with B-list celebs. He's incredibly frustrated that his ghostly roommates don't get how awesome he had it. But, Trevor died as he lived: partying at a drug-fueled rager, and now, he walks around for eternity with no pants.
Moriarty plays Pete, a 1980's era scout troop leader. Kind, earnest and sincere, he's the self-appointed Activities Director for the house who loves to organize games, lectures, etc. for his fellow ghosts to help stave off the boredom of eternity. Pete was teaching archery to his son's scout troop when one of the boys accidentally shot him through the neck with an arrow. This is a US version of a character originally in the British version. He might be the only ghost carried over from the BBC original.
Carrasco is Flower, a 1960's era hippie who died when she wandered onto the property while attending a nearby music festival and, while under the influence, tried to befriend a bear. She has a philosophical bent; loves love and hates rude people.
Pinnock will play Alberta, a Prohibition-era lounge singer. In her time, she dated a bootlegger and has "seen it all," and is a bit of a diva. Though tough and not one to take crap from anyone, she has a maternal streak and often acts as the protective den mother to the "family" of ghosts.
Zaragoza is Sasappis. Sarcastic, droll, and over it. Being trapped in a never-ending in-between world is bad enough, but for Sasappis, being trapped with these other idiot ghosts makes it even worse.
Tumblr media
Ghosts was developed by Lionsgate through its deal with BBC Studios. Port and Wiseman executive produce with Mathew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard, Ben Willbond, Martha Howe-Douglas, Alison Carpenter, Debra Hayward, Alison Owen, and Angie Stephenson.
We are not always optimistic that an American remake of a hit British sitcom will be good. In the meantime, people in the US can stream the original two seasons of Ghosts on HBO Max, another good show that the streamer does not bother telling the public it carries. The BBC will broadcast a special Christmas episode this year during the holidays.'

Brooklyn (2015)
Brooklyn brings us back to moments in our lives that caused us heartache and great joy. Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan) is a long way from home and all is new to her, the city is older than she is but through her young eyes, she does not yet see the exciting and adventurous life waiting for her.
Suffering from homesickness and facing her own challenges she breaks through this short dark moment and makes a life for herself. A life that changes her situation and one that would make her mother and sister proud. education, employment and falling in love has changed what she once knew and felt about the choices she has made.
throughout the film, we are shown her emotions from facial expression and the way in which Eilis gazes and goes into what seems to be a daydream. from what we know about her we can somewhat guess what she may be thinking. her tear-glazed eyes tell it all. Tony (Emory Cohen) is what keeps Eilis’ mind off things and gives her a chance to be happy and have someone to comfort her. Tony will then play an important part in the film.
So, all is going well and then like a fist to the gut, comes the most devastating news Rose (Fiona Glascott) Eilis’ sister has died. At this point in the film, we are back at square one. Lost. Again, her emotions are told in her eyes and we can tell there is a lump in her throat. A lot more takes place in the second half, we are taken back to Ireland where another story unfolds. Eilis faces more challenges and it's now up to her to make a choice between her new life that she has built or the old one she left behind and not forgetting her old love while she has possibly found a new one.
For a film set in the 1950s which tells a story of love it also incorporates migration mainly displaying people of Irish background. It does not stray away from its genre not for one moment. The use of costumes has played a vital role in keeping the viewer aware of the time period and what may have occurred during those times. Again, costumes have proved useful, as Eilis life changes so do her clothes and appearance. before leaving for America her clothes were average but having a new career it brings new clothes, clothes she may never be able to afford. When the use of sets is thrown into the mix it solidifies everything. We are not left wondering what dances looked like during the 1950s we given visuals within these visuals were also shown how young adults of that time behaved. What stood out was how the film used the dancehall and the other charterers. The boys would choose who they danced with and if the girls were lucky it would be someone they fancied.
Tumblr media
Tony is watching Eilis
in the still above we witness Tony choosing Eilis and it is at this point he has chosen her forever. Out of all the girls there that were not picked for a dance and ones that were not, why did he picker? What was it about here? Even though Tony said he likes Irish girls there were many there and many had come before
At the start Eilis has a lot on her plate but on the other hand Tony has everything in order in his life, when Eilis returned home after her sister death it was hard watching Tony miss her and all at the same times, she was considering her future and where she belongs. No just this but who she loves. During her friend’s wedding, we can clearly see who she truly longs for, the retaliation seems to shock her into snapping out if her out of what seems to be a rushed decision of what her life is meant to be. The use of the wedding, the zooming on of Eilis' faces and the blurring of the bride were key also having Jim Farrell (Domhnall Gleeson) sitting next to her smiling and then having Eilis’ facial expression change told us then who she belonged to.
This film is played with emotion and the mind. Having wanted Eilis to have a good life and find love then one day settle down was the main idea, however the thought of Mary Lacey (Jane Brennan) her mother being left all alone was heartache enough. And thinking that Tony would lose the love of life so suddenly was enough to put a lump in a throat. With all, it's clear to see that Eilis was fighting for a better life she did not want to end up like the girls in her town or worse miss a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is understandable that no one wants to work so hard only to end up where they started. All she wanted was the same opportunity but in Ireland.
Overall a very heartwarming film it shows that patience and time change all.
