日本の歴史366 Day 59 pt 2
So this would be the one that was actually for Feb 29
2月29日 Summary:

I had the last Heisei location shoot!
That means,
for stability,
Coverall style!!!
Ah, this photos stepladder is,
It doesn’t have any relationship to the main thing I learned
The photo is just for the sake of being industrious
I like it~, that sort of thing~
The face I’m making in the photo,
I said,
“Today that’s the #1 best face!” lol
Wearing coveralls,
Today I also wore a white coat,
Well, what sort of thing did I learn about!
Details will come at a later date
However, today,
My stomach is realllyyyyyy full
The last “Ishida Ayumi Goes!” of Heisei,
Look forward to the broadcast on April 13th (Sat)!!!
Yesterday when we were together for the radio recording

Five years ago, my best friend issued me a challenge.
I was preparing for a previous sports-themed train trip, and in comes Nick from his English teaching position in Shiga prefecture with THIS scheme.
I was captivated by the idea. I had already been to Japan once by that point, and among the activities was a game between the Chiba Lotte Marines and the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. The Marines walked off in the 11th with a solo home run from their catcher. I still have the ticket stub. The atmosphere, the fans, the food...how could I say no to that times 12?
Well, a lot of things piled up between then and now that kept me from saying Yes.
I wound up visiting Nick in Japan in 2015 anyway, taking in a Hanshin Tigers vs Hiroshima Toyo Carp game at Koshien and a Yomiuri Giants vs Chunichi Dragons game at the Tokyo Dome. Both were amazingly fun even if the home team lost each time. That only further spurred my appetite to do the full 12-team run.
Other vacation plans came up instead in the three years that followed. Amazing trips like going to Germany and Belgium, visiting London, going back to Disney World, etc. During all this time, I was honing my ability to plan a 12-team trip, though. Checking game schedules, seeing what was doable, figuring out how to maximize my frequent flier and sleeper points...and likely driving Nick bonkers with my manic enthusiasm.
Then last summer, I realized I had enough Aeroplan points for two round-trip economy tickets and enough Marriott Bonvoy points for eight hotel nights. That was the cue! IT WAS TIME.
Once the NPB schedule was posted in December, I got to work on planning a course.
Out of 13 possible itineraries, one was able to fit in under 3 weeks, with only two back-tracks, and enough time for rainout contingency plans.
Flights booked. Hotels reserved. Tickets are in the process of being purchased as they come available.
Here’s the games we’re going to.
And the trains we’ll need to take to get from place to place.
(I’ll update the game scores as we go along the trip)
So I’ll do my best to share my experiences and photos here in long-form, with syndication to other social media profiles I have as well. Why? Well, in part to convince you to at least come to one Japanese baseball game, but also for posterity’s sake.
No one else has, someone should, and Nick and I will try, come hell or high pressure fronts.
That’s all for tonight. More later; Rakuten’s tickets come on sale on Sunday night our time!
-Gabe
