"Hisoka-san? Oh, I met him when my class took a surprise field trip to his ranch in Obihiro. I veered away from the group for a bit to get away from some of the bullies who were making fun of me. Saying things like, 'I was returning home or something.' Truthfully, their insults didn't hurt as bad as it sounded. I actually didn't mind being surrounded by animals. If I wasn't so interested in medicine, I'd probably like to become a farmer. But being a veterinarian is my primary goal right now."

"Anyway, after I ventured away from the group, I decided to visit the stables where the horses were located. And... well, you know me. When I'm around an animal, I can't help but have a conversation with it. I was talking with one of the horses when Hisoka-san spotted me. He was wondering how I got so good at understanding horses. I, uh... I sorta told him that I could speak to animals, but... I could tell he didn't believe me. Not that I blame him. If I weren't able to do it, I don't think I'd believe it myself if someone said they could converse with animals."

"Besides that, he helped me out with some of my class assignments and was nice. Before I left though, he admitted he was curious about what exactly the horse and I spoke about. I didn't tell everything since the horse, which I later found out was named 'Milo', asked me not to reveal a lot, but I told him about what the horse thought about its owner, who... well, I'll speak about him in a minute..."

Daiki Kamiyama

*Sighs* "Yes, this is the boy, whom I later found out is named Daiki-kun, who owns that horse, Milo. Apparently, he was listening in when Hisoka-san asked me what Milo and I were talking about. He thinks that I told Hisoka-san that Milo thinks he is annoying, which is not at all what I said! Milo thinks Daiki-kun is quite nice, but considers some of his mannerisms to be annoying! He likes Daiki-kun, but can get a bit irked when Daiki-kun is being loud for some reason."

"I tried to explain that it was just a misunderstanding, but Daiki-kun wouldn't listen. Now, he thinks that I'm trying to steal Milo from him! He even called me an 'evildoer!' Now I'm too scared to go back to the ranch because I may run into him again!" *Sighs* "And I really wanted to speak to Milo and the other horses again..."

Jack Verrill

"I haven't met Jack-san, unfortunately. But I heard he serves Daiki-kun as his personal butler, which was a shock to find out! I guess that means Daiki-kun is quite rich, or comes from a rich family. I've never heard of them, but I'll have to be sure to research them. Hopefully finding out more about them will help me make up with Daiki-kun. ...I hope."

"This team... it doesn't exactly fill me with ease. I mean, I like Hisoka-san. He seems nice enough. And Jack-san seems... okay. But Daiki-kun... it makes me sad that he thinks I'm an... 'evildoer'. Especially when I wasn't at all trying to do anything mean!" *Sighs* "I wonder if this is how Yorii-kun feels at times. I just hope he'll give me a chance to explain at the D.R.B. The Forbidden Play: J-Horror for Halloween

The Forbidden Play is a Japanese horror movie that was released in 2023. The movie is based on a novel by Karma Shimizu and directed by Hideo Nakata. The story revolves around a little boy named Haruto who tries to revive his mother, Miyuki, after she tragically dies. Haruto buries one of her fingers in the backyard, hoping to bring her back to life. However, his actions awaken an evil spirit that possesses his mother's body. The movie has been described as a "J-horror mishmash" that offers satisfying scares. It begins with jokey touches but takes on an intricately scripted story about a vengeful spirit. The movie has been praised for its storytelling and the way it builds tension and suspense. There is a movie clip available on YouTube, and a trailer is available on Far East Films. The Forbidden Play is a recent release, so there is not much information available about it yet. However, it is expected to gain popularity among horror movie fans.

ドキュメンタリー映画『世界で戦うフィルムたち』

世界に向けて挑戦を続ける若手映画監督・亀山睦木が、日本映画の未来を模索した実録ドキュメンタリー。

亀山監督は自身の監督作「12ヶ月のカイ」を110以上もの海外の映画祭に応募し、現地の声を聞くためアメリカからヨーロッパまで足を運んだ。その道のりを追い、キャストやスタッフの思いを込めた作品を1人でも多くの観客に観てもらうべく奮闘する亀山監督の姿を映し出す。

さらに亀山監督は、日本を代表する俳優・寺島しのぶ、ハリウッド作品も手がける清水崇監督や北村龍平監督ら映画関係者にインタビューを敢行。世界で活躍する日本人の経験や、若手監督・俳優のリアルな苦悩が本人たちの言葉で語られる。 ーー 【STORY】 This is a true-life documentary by Mutsuki Kameyama, a young film director who continues to challenge the world, in search of the future of the Japanese film industry.

Kameyama submitted their film "12 Months of KAI" to over 110 overseas film festivals, and traveled from the U.S. to Europe to hear the voices of local audiences. The film follows Kameyama's journey and their struggle to get as many viewers as possible to see their film, which is filled with the thoughts and feelings of the cast and crew.

They also interviewed leading Japanese actor Shinobu Terajima, as well as directors Takashi Shimizu and Ryuhei Kitamura, who have also worked on Hollywood productions, and others involved in the film industry. In their own words, they speak of the experiences of Japanese filmmakers working around the world and the real-life struggles of young directors and actors.

The day was winding down as Elliot Shimizu of the Setagaya division finally started opening the assortment of letters and packages he had received from friends and fans alike. A shower of kind words, each dotted with the personality of the sender.

Surprise, surprise, a letter from Obihiro appeared to be amongst the pile. The return address coming from Spur Stud Ranch, it was an easy guess as to who it was from.

Inside the letter, surprisingly, a small keychain jingled out. A little brown horse shaped bell, with a gold and red string attached.

Putting aside the small token with a soft chime, the letter inside, written on strangely high quality paper, read bluntly.

"Hope your studies are going well.

Happy Birthday

Elliot smiled as he held the keychain up to the light, admiring the way it caught the glow of his lamp. Truthfully, he had been worried about his relationship with Hisoka-san since his class trip to the Spur Stud Ranch. After the awkward passing between him and Hisoka, Elliot was worried that the horse breeder wanted nothing more to do with him after he had revealed that he could talk and understand animals (and that wasn't counting the fact that his friend, Daiki, now disliked Elliot immensely for an innocent misunderstanding that he had with Elliot over his horse).

Thankfully, it seemed he had nothing to worry about, if this gift was anything to go by. The little brown horse-shaped bell, with its gold and red string, was more than a trinket, it was a symbol of friendship from afar.

"Thank you, Hisoka-san," he whispered, his voice barely above a hush, yet filled with heartfelt gratitude. "I'll take good care of it."

Carefully, he attached the keychain to his backpack, its new home where it would be a constant companion on his daily adventures. Each jingle of the bell as he moved would be a gentle reminder of Hisoka's thoughtfulness, a sound that would bring a smile to his face even on the most mundane days.

“Okay, I guess I know Elliot. His class had a trip to visit the ranch and I got to know him a little…Or a lot. I don’t know, I got interested in him when I noticed he was talking to Daiki’s horse, Milo. Not just the random ramblings I do with the horses, but having an actual discussion. Back and forth. That sort of thing. I asked him how he learned to read horse expressions so well, but he just mumbled that he could talk with them. Actual verbal communication. Which… I can’t say I fully believe him. Even now, after spending that entire trip helping him through his assignments. I mean, being able to talk with animals is impossible. He probably just has a good intuition when it comes to animal behavior. Otherwise… Why can’t I talk with the horses?! That’s just unfair! I-I want to talk with Milo and the other horses too! I want them to know that I mean all the compliments I tell them!”

“A team of high school students… I mean aside from Elliot-kun, I have no idea who these kids are. I mean… What sort of sick joke is it to potentially put us against them?
