#shipper wars are stupid

I feel like I've been seeing a lot more posts about how both the Kat//ng and Zutara fandoms should stop fighting and tolerate each other more, and while I understand, and to an extent, agree with the sentiment, it bothers me a little because these posts tend to make it out like both fandoms are equally as toxic, when in my experience, that simply isn't true.

I am a multishipper, and even though I mostly just participate in the fandoms for my absolute favorites, I still enjoy lots of different ships, including ships that "contradict" each other.

In AtLA, even though Zutara is my favorite now, I also used to ship Kat//ng. Kat//ng used to be my favorite, and only ship for the series that I actively engaged with. I saw the appeal of Zutara (and others), but for a long time my opinion on it was "it's not canon, so why bother?" and I mostly just ignored it.

But one of the biggest reason I stopped enjoying interacting with the KA side of the fandom was because I saw a vastly disproportionate amount of other KA shippers going out of their way to harass Zutara shippers. And I don't mean simply talking badly about the ship itself, or the characters involved, but personal attacks against the real life people who ship Zutara.

Have I seen Zutara shippers harass Kat//ngers? Yes, of course. But not nearly as much as the other way around. Literally not even half as much. And not just here on Tumblr, but Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Deviantart. All across the internet, I saw KA shippers constantly badmouthing Zutara and Zutara shippers, even in the comments of Kat//ng art and fics, completely unprompted.

It bummed me out, and while it isn't the reason I stopped liking the ship itself, it did make me feel uncomfortable interacting with it's fandom. Kat//ng shippers are, ironically, a big part of the reason I started actively shipping Zutara. Because after seeing the way they went on about it and it's fandom, I thought "Surely, Zutara and the people who like it can't be that bad." So I took a deeper look at the ship and it's fandom, and.... I was right. They weren't as bad as other Kat//ngers had told me they were. Not even close.

This isn’t what my blog is about and I usually try to avoid making post about things not related to the tv show fandom I’m in but someone needed to call this people out because going to this tag and seeing war everywhere is so tiring and exhausting so imma make this post and HOPEFULLY PEOPLE WILL READ AND LISTEN!!!!!!!!

Going to the others tag just to HARASS and bully people over FICTIONAL characters is so ridiculous and stupid and people need to stop. It’s a TV SHOW!!!! YOU aren’t the ones writing this, the writes are and they’ll know how they want to finish THEIR story because that’s THEIR characters!!!! Not yours!!!!! People (both sides) need to stop harassing one another and just stay in your tag and enjoy the ship and the characters. There’s no need for hatred or war, especially since in the tv show all 3 are FRIENDS (so fighting about it is so???!!!) just stop. Y’all acting like babies, get some manners and learn how to respect each other preferences and continue enjoying yall ships in PEACE!

And please leave the actors alone as well, they’re just actors they cannot decide what they’ll do next seasons. There’s literally no reason to harass and bully people over people that doesn’t exist. Just enjoy the SHOW and enjoy the SHIP and LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE!!!!!!! And stop using the incorrect tag please, I know some yall are doing it on purpose but please stop that is so annoying. (And I know yall KNOW how that feels like so stop!)

I often try to remind myself to interact more with the fandom, that I should make more friends and have a better sense of community. Look for more people, read more fanfics, broaden my horizons.

I’m sorry critters I have a confession:

I just don’t like Fearne and Ashton together romantically. I don’t like it.

Personally I love wild child aromantic Fearne who beds who she wants, flirts with everything, and is basically a loose canon.

And I think Ashton needs someone whose soft with them. They still need to have a desire for adventure and getting into trouble, but I really think he’d do so well with someone a little more grounding!! Which is just not Fearne, who doesn’t always think of others when she’s making decisions (this isn’t a bad thing, I fucking love this about Fearne)!!!

And don’t think I don’t love their dynamic, their friendship is so cute!!! The stealing game, and even the forehead kiss was adorable and I love to see them together. But I just,,,,,,, don’t like it romantically.

I was reminded of the time that tumblr tried to make "monster high but with tumblr sexymen", and one of the characters was (obviously) the daughter of the once-ler.

And the funny thing to me about that is that in the canon of the illumination lorax movie, the once-ler is heavily implied to have an estranged daughter. I don't know all the sexymen off the top of my head but I think he might've been one of the only ones referenced in that trend who actually had a daughter in his own canon.

I read online (at kpop, so take it with a pillar of salt) that some Japanese Jikookers are behind a smear campaign against Tae. If it's true, I'm not overly surprised, but very disappointed. As a Joker, I take pride in how much we're NOT like the cult. This behavior is so much like TKKs that I'm ashamed. I don't know if it's true or not, but if it is... so much disappoint.

It's ridiculous to turn hate against any of the members because you prefer someone else. These seven men love each other to distraction, and they're a UNIT. They want to be together. They don't appreciate attacks against any of them, and they are protective of each other. If you think that by smearing Tae because you support Jikook, or if you hate on Jimin because you follow Taekook, or if you hate Jungkook because you're a Jimin solos tan, you're missing the point of BTS and everything they stand for.

That's not love. It's not even sane. And I guarantee you that your favorite Tannie would be horrified by what's being done "in his name".
