cannot believe supermarket prices have rocketed so much over the past few years that i can do a full shop at m&s and it cost me a few extra quid at most

#post for the brits sorry #aldi and lidl are noticeably cheaper but i will spend extra for nicer food and also pre-made sauces that dont give me diarrhoea #but i usually shop at morrisons cos theyre closer to me but was in town so treated myself and it cost at least a tenner less than i thought #still expensive but other than aldi and lidl since 2020 food just IS expensive #dunno if theres a way of quantifying this for americans but m&s is a bougie supermarket that sells their own brand products

i can't stand rich people...... i casually mentioned to my host family that i'm gonna do my food shopping at lidl (only) 1km away instead of the ultra expensive shop that's just downstairs and they were like. oh? :0 huh :D in that tone of people who have never looked at the price of things they buy, much less stepped inside a lidl

#i mean the perks is that i'm staying this whole summer in a super fancy house #but it's also so neat and fancy it's more like an airbnb than a house where people live??? they don't have any Stuff??????#also the ultra expensive shop is the one where just a few sandwich ingredients + oatmeal was like 25€.......#whereas i got a whole month's worth of groceries for less than 40€ from lidl #and then they cry about the energy bills like ok. but you can buy food at lidl you know <3

im not like on the picky side of asparagus, but losing a safe food is like hell actually.

#i have safe coffees mostly #i consume a lot of caffeine (can you tell) and when i dont like my coffee anymore i fucking wanna cry #and it sends me #also i have comfort grocery stores #i HATE shopping online for ANYTHING that's not books #i cannot like grocery shop online #but if the layout of a store is like bad i will also like not uy what i need because it mentally exhausts me #and its so hard because the store next to me is both hella expensive and not for me #and i usually end up going more than 3kms by foot (because im cheap)#to a grocery store #or im taking my ass to LIDL which if you shop at lidl you're crazy #ghjkl #anyway my comfort food is out im so sad silly
