Shumako Children: Soji Amamiya-Niijima
WARNING: THIS IS AN OC TIED TO A FAN FICTION SERIES I’VE BEEN WORKING ON. IF NOT INTERESTED IN THE KIDS OF REN AND MAKOTO PLEASE TURN BACK. CERTAIN PARTS ARE ONLY UNDERSTANDABLE IF YOU’VE READ MY “FUTURE ARC” SERIES. SORRY FOR THIS RANDOM WARNING AND I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY.
Soji Amamiya-Niijima Age 14-15 Soji is the second child and son of Ren and Makoto. Named in honor of Sojiro as Ren states that his pseudo-father figure is the reason that he was able to have such a wonderful life. Futaba swears to present day that when she left with her dad, the man was crying in response. Sojiro swears that's a lie. Unlike his sister, Soji was born without complications thanks to Lavenza after the Kana situation. The young boy was born with a strange condition where his hair color seemed to be a mix of brown and black hair; the latter being the color of the hair tips. Lavenza theorized it was due to the influence of Satanael and Anat; this pregnancy having no issues but still quite the phenomenon. He has a little bit of a round face, light gray eyes, and pale skin. There is a small scar on his left eyebrow from when a bully threw a rock at him when he was 6. Underneath his shirt, he wears a heart pendant at all times. Inside are two pictures- one of his mom and dad, the other of his sister; the pendant being from a friend of the family who told him to "Hold it close. For it will one day guide you." Also wears glasses even though no one knows if he ACTUALLY needs them or not. He refuses to tell anyone. Soji is a rather skittish young man who has a hard time connecting with people. From a young age, he was teased for his strange hair color and treated as if he was weird. After he was hit by that rock as a child, he grew to fear people and became more recluse. Opting a lot of the time to stay home rather than hang out with friends. Though his friends would simply head to his house to hang out instead. Through the little interactions with people he has, they know that he is a sweet young boy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Though the latter tends to hurt him in the long run as people take advantage of his kindness. If his sister finds out they are doing this, however... Let's just say they learn to regret it. He's also INCREDIBLY nervous around girls. Having trouble speaking to them most of the time, he ends up blabbering while turning a deep shade of red. If a girl ever flirts with him, he tends to shut down entirely and forget how to talk or even breathe. Sojiro swearing one day he was going to be a real lady's man once he learned to overcome this issue. Makoto always saying that she refused to let any girl mess with her baby boy, much to his chagrin. Ever since he was small Soji loved stories of heroes. Especially ones about the Phantom Thieves. Kana and him always sitting together as their father told them stories about the exploits of these magnificent thieves who moved to change society. Soji always wishing to one day be like them, even though his sister would tell him that they aren't real. Just stories of fictional people. It saddened him that his sister lost the belief in them after the incident. Yet he never stopped believing they were real. Even theorizing WHO they might be... As for himself, Soji is quite brilliant. Taking after both his parents, he is the type to learn something extremely quick. As if his brain downloads the info in an instant. Alongside that, he reads quite often. It's rare to see him without a book or his tablet and reading SOMETHING. If he's not reading he's either writing his own stories/scripts or deep into his games. The latter usually involving going up against Kana in one on one matches of ANY game they feel like. He tends to win more often than not. He also collects figures from his favorite games/shows whenever possible. He's also a TOTAL mama's boy. For as long as anyone could remember, Soji would cling to his mom all the time. He was a very shy kid (granted that hasn't changed much), so whenever he met someone new he'd hide behind his mom's leg and peek his head out. Makoto herself adores the fact that he's always so willing to go to her. Most of the time you'd see her cuddling her son and rubbing her cheek against his saying how precious and adorable he was. That did not stop even after he entered middle school. Though he'll never admit he loves his mom's hugs as it was too embarrassing to say aloud. With his father, Soji bonds with him best over reading and writing. Most not knowing that Ren is usually the one to read over his drafts and give feedback for his son. As Ren wants Soji to feel good about himself and realize he always has room to grow. Though Soji feared his father would hate him after one day telling him that he viewed Makoto as his greatest inspiration and hero. Only for his father to say, "you know what son? Me too." Though Ren seemed to tense up when Soji suggested he thought his mom was actually Queen from the stories. Meanwhile, Soji LOVES his sister to pieces. Granted, she teases him often simply to make him blush, but he still loves her. She is his biggest supporter and friend. Kana's always the first one to back him up and will at times try to get him go out. She also shares his love of JRPGs. Both of them crying together at the conclusion of their favorite series ever. Kana even goes above and beyond for her little brother, once standing outside a store during the weekend to make sure she'd be able to buy a figure he was hoping to get for months. He actually cried tears of joy when she came home with it and went, "Happy birthday bro." Kana is the one person he can confide in and knows won't tell anyone or judge him. He fears to tell his parents everything because he doesn't want to let them down. For Soji, the idea of him being more than a side character at most is something he can't ever imagine. Having grown up around so many incredible people- his mother a police commissioner, his father a Diet Cabinet member, and his sister being so amazing in his eyes- Soji grew a bit of an inferiority complex. Most of the time he felt as though he could never live up those around him, resulting in the boy hiding away from the world. Viewing himself as little more than a minor character meant to exist in the background only. Though his sister tries so hard to show him that he's not, it never seems to work. He views his family as far too bright to ever shine himself. He'll never say it aloud, but Soji wants to one day be a story writer. He wants to create tales that inspire people to be whatever they dream to be. Though he cannot push himself to shine in the world, he believes perhaps it's his purpose to help others shine instead. To be the shadow to their light. Unaware of what life would bring him in the future.

Yet another tag thing. The 10 tag
So I recently saw a post by @juricha-art of a tag people thing, like the one I did recently. The rules for this one are that you have to name 10 of your favourite franchises/media pieces, then name your top OTP’s for the same franchises, and then tag a maximum of 10 people. Shumako Week 2020, Day Five: Put Some Love Into It
@shumakoweek Day Five: Coffee / Cooking / Dinner Date.
AO3 / FF.net
Summary:  When her sister spoke fondly of the coffee sold by a shop in Yongen, Makoto felt compelled to try it. AU
.
Makoto wasn't entirely sure what had brought her to the coffee shop in Yongen-jaya. The cafe had been out of her way, the complete opposite direction from both her apartment and the University campus.
It seemed like a lot of effort to go to for something she could have just as easily bought from a vending machine, or one of the many chain stores dotted around the city.
Yet, hearing her older sister speak so fondly of the store's coffee had piqued her interest.
Sae was a perfectionist. For the coffee to have left such a good impression on her, it must have been of the highest quality.
Seeing as she rarely stopped by their apartment, perhaps Makoto had also hoped they might run into each other there.
Leblanc was tucked away in a narrow alley, boasting its own hustle and bustle unique from the sprawling metropolis. There were smatterings of children, families and pets, moving about between the local businesses.
Bells chimed as Makoto stepped through the front door, her body enveloped by warmth and the permeating scent of cigarettes and the store's many roasts.
It drew her eyes to the shelf lined with a variety of beans and spices. Makoto considered herself quite capable in the culinary department, yet she never realised there were so many different blends of coffee to choose from.
The range was rather overwhelming.
"Oh, welcome."
A middle-aged man stooping over the counter set down his newspaper to greet her. He stood beside a contraption made of numerous bulbs and clasps, appearing more like something out of a laboratory than any machine she’d seen in cafes.
"What can I get for you?"
"I- I'm not quite sure." Makoto answered, eyes drawn to the menu board. "There certainly is a lot to choose from."
"A newbie, huh?" The owner chuckled, before turning and setting to work. "Hold on. I can make you something I think you'll enjoy."
Hesitant, the strap of Makoto's bag slipped from her shoulder as she seated herself at the counter.
A black cat sauntered down the stairs with a stretch of its limbs and a long, deep meow, sniffing at her feet, curious. Makoto eyed the animal. For many businesses, its mere presence would be an obvious health violation.
Did Leblanc also double as a cat cafe?
"Here you are." The man called, Makoto's focus shifting back the counter-top as a steaming cup was placed before her.
"Oh, thank you."
Coffee was something Makoto had developed a taste for in high school; the caffeine helping her concentrate during long study sessions. While, over the years, she'd found a tolerance for the bitter nectar, it was never really something she savoured or choose to drink for any purpose other than necessity.
She was, by no means, a connoisseur.
Yet, the care shown to this particular blend was apparent to her from the moment it settled on her tongue. No sooner had the first sip of rich, brown liquid trickled down her throat, that Makoto was struck by a realisation.
She had never truly drunk coffee before.
The city was crowded by people all in a hurry, rushing to make a train or their next meeting. They needed their coffee prepared as quickly as possible, the margin for quality wasn't quite as high.
Yet, in this shop, tucked away from the rush and demand, the owner had been afforded the time and luxury necessary to capture a roasts potential. Customers would wait patiently, sitting, engaged in relaxed conversation; almost an entirely different culture that Makoto had not been privy to.
Nursing her drink, Makoto began mentally mapping out alternate routes she could take to class; wondering if she could feasibly pass Leblanc on her way to University.
She would definitely be coming again.
.
The cafe provided a safe haven for Makoto when mid-terms rolled around.
Even having stayed at the top of her year and been entrenched in regular study sessions for as long as she could remember, the academic demands of University still gave Makoto challenge.
She was now competing against some of the best performing students from across the country, many of whom; like her; had scored the highest grades in elite prep schools. Makoto still held the coveted, number one spot but was having to work harder than she ever had before to maintain it.
Though normally favouring the library to study, Makoto had opted to avoid heading there for today. The facilities were packed out at this time of year, with students all trying desperately to fit in a last-minute binge of the term's curriculum, praying that the information would stick.
Finding a place to sit would be a nightmare.
The ambiance of Leblanc, however, would allow her the concentration necessary for one last refresher of notes for her next exam. As well as a much-needed shot of caffeine.
"Oh. Welcome."
The unfamiliar voice startled Makoto, drawing her to a person behind the counter she did not recognise. Dressed casually in a button-down shirt and jeans; he peered towards her, his dark, shaggy head masked by glasses.
He was young, much closer to her in age than Sakura-san; or any of the cafe's regular clientele, for that matter. Seeming out of place amidst the shop's rather rustic decor.
Makoto wondered, momentarily, if she had mistakenly stepped through the wrong door, the evening having coated the streets in darkness.
Yet her eyes carried over the familiar canisters of beans and spices, suddenly enveloping her again in that eerie, nervous energy she had felt before. This sense of being out of place that Makoto thought she had managed to dispel. As though, in this stranger’s presence, the safe haven she had sought was slowly slipping away, an alien replica forming in its place.
"H- hello," she ventured after a moment. "Is- Is Boss around?"
The man behind the counter shock his head, black waves of hair rustling slightly with the movement.
"He had to step out for a moment. Left me in charge to run the store."
"Oh."
While the young man seemed pleasant enough, any further thought of conversation was stifled by Makoto's struggle placing the young man before her.
From the apron, and his position behind the counter, it was obvious he was working here. Yet, Makoto found this confusing. She had thought Sakura-san ran a one-man operation. Leblanc didn't seem like it did the business to afford, or even warrant, other employees.
Still, no other possible explanation could come to her. The only family Boss had mentioned to her had been a daughter, so this couldn't have been relative of his.
As she usually stopped by in the morning, it made sense that she wouldn't have seen him, until now.
Conscious suddenly that she had been standing, silently pondering, for several seconds; the part-timer still watching her expectantly; Makoto flushed.
"W- well, in that case. May I have a cup of Jamaican Blue?"
It was the first blend Boss had made for her. In a way, the aroma and flavour that had forged her connection to the Cafe and Boss. Perhaps retracing that palette would remind her of the comfort this room had brought her, making her feel home in her own skin and extending an olive branch to the stranger before her.
Blossoming perhaps a similarly fruitful relationship.
"Sure thing," the barista saluted. "I can't promise my coffee will be as good as Boss', but I am learning."
Though she wouldn’t dare admit it aloud, his words held true. His coffee was not as refined as Boss’. Still, it was familiar in its care, in the depth of its flavour profile. As she sipped from the cup with a contented sigh, it was clear to Makoto that he had followed the man’s instructions closely and would bud into a fine protégé.
"So, what brings you here tonight?" The barista asked her between sips.
Normally such a conversation might bother Makoto, particularly when she had plans to study, but the man's easy smile and soothing timbre were welcome. Setting down her cup, she replied.
"I'm in the middle of exams at Tokyo University. I was hoping to get some last-minute revision in and needed the kick."
"Tokyo, huh? Isn't this kind out of your way? Or do you live around here?"
"No, I don’t. But the coffee is worth it. It's ruined me for anything else in the city."
"Really?" He chuckled. "Perhaps I could teach you then? That way you don't have to keep coming here."
Makoto smiled softly at the man's quip, but in all honesty she enjoyed coming here. Despite the laborious trips and extra train fare, sitting and savouring each finely prepared roast made it worthwhile. The store had a different atmosphere from anywhere else in the city.
"Oh, no. I couldn't trouble you. I don't have the equipment at home anyway."
She could only imagine how much she would need to save to be able to afford a proper coffee siphon like that. Nor where she could source beans the quality that Sakura-san used.
"Oh yeah, that's a problem." The part-timer nodded, scratching his head. "Still, it couldn't hurt to try."
Makoto's fingers stroked against her chin, weighing the temptation in her mind.
Though she had more pressing obligations, she couldn't deny her curiosity. She had watched Sakura-san prepare coffee many times and still hadn't been able to wrap her head around everything it involved.
"Are you sure it’s okay?"
"Why not?" The barista shrugged. "It's pretty much dead here, anyway."
Her books and plans to study momentarily forgotten, Makoto set her bag down; slipping on the apron that was handed to her in its place.
He led her meticulously through the process. Measuring out and grinding the coffee, using timers and thermometers to make sure everything was precise. Even breaking things down slowly, Makoto was a little overwhelmed.
To think that Sakura-san and his apprentice had to recall such an involved recipe off hand, all to make a single cup of coffee.
It was no wonder why they were of such quality. The love and effort that was devoted to each blend could not be substituted.
His tutoring was disrupted by bells tinkered as the front door opened. Heart catching in her throat, Makoto turned as Sakura-san took her in; apron and all; with a look of bewilderment.
“Niijima-san? What are you doing here?” His employee waved from beside her with a sheepish grin “And you?
As Makoto attempted to stammer out an explanation, Sakura-san’s eyes narrowed at the space between, a mischievous, knowing glimmer crossing his features.
"Oh. I’m sorry,” He said, voice suddenly devoid of any confusion.  “I didn’t realise you had company.”
“Boss, I-” Makoto's head bowed, apprehensive to meet his gaze.
“Please, don’t leave on my account. This old man’ll get out of your hair. Just make sure you lock up, kid.”
Though she wasn’t looking directly towards him, from her periphery, she could’ve sworn she caught Boss winking behind the counter, in their direction.
Puzzled, she glanced over at the man beside her who shrugged, a breathless laugh trailing from his lips.
It struck her as odd that the part-timer didn’t seem at all concerned about being caught by Boss in such a manner.
“I’m sorry. I hope you aren’t in any trouble.”
“Eh, don’t worry about it.” His hand waved, non-plussed. “I doubt he’s gonna fire me flirting with a customer. If anything, he’s probably pleased.”
“Y- you were flirting with me?”
“Well, I guess it wasn’t the most conventional method, but...” He blushed, rubbing at the back of his neck. “Yeah, that’s what I was going for”
“Oh. I- I see.”
Though she hadn’t thought anything of it, in hindsight, it seemed a rather strange offer to make out of the blue. From the way they had been standing close to one another, his hands helping to guide her through each step. Now that he had clarified, it seemed obvious.
Shrinking in on herself from embarrassment, Makoto struggled to peel her gaze from the floor. The chain of events she had just endured leaving her mortified.
"It's uh... It's getting late. I might take this to go, if that’s alright.”
“Oh. Sure.”
Makoto wasn't even sure if Leblanc offered take-away drinks, typically, but the barista nonetheless retrieved a Styrofoam cup from behind the counter. Hands dipping into his pocket, he fished out a black marker and began to scrawl something on the side of the cup, pausing briefly to glance up at her.
“You know, I never caught your name.”
“Huh? Oh, it's Niijima. Niijima Makoto.”
Makoto frowned, wondering what reason he could possibly need her name for. She was the only one in the store, there wouldn't be any need for him to call it out.
“I'm Amamiya Ren.” He replied as he set the cup back down and began pouring out her coffee. “Pleased to meet you, Niijima-san. Seeing as you're a regular here, I guess I’ll see you around?”
“Yeah.”
Ren was careful to turn the cup away as he handed it over, shielding whatever he'd written from view. Bursting with curiosity, Makoto held off the urge to turn it around until she'd made it outside, beyond the reach of his gaze.
She was surprised to find printed there carefully was not her name but a series of digits – his number, presumably.
Rolling her eyes, a fond smile lifted Makoto's expression as she took another sip; the rich taste seeping tantalisingly between her lips.
She would definitely be coming back.

“Meeting the Parents”
ShuMako Week: Day 7.
Prompt: Future/Family/Children
Meeting your significant other’s parents is probably the most terrifying thing you can go through. Especially once you get to know who and how they are.

What is your fav shumako AU
I’m not sure whether this question supposed to be shumako au in general or my AUs lol. Hmmm unless you want a list of my fav shumako fics I will take the question directing to my AUs instead.
First thing first, let me be this one person who says I love all my children equally lol. I have 4 AUs; Memory Lost AU (MLAU), LoopAU, Informant AU and Teacher AU. Among these four, Informant AU is the only one with its own blog.
MLAU (angst): is basically where Makoto “somehow” lost her memories and never become a PT, also no relation with the them ever since. There is a little more on twitter, but beware of all the bad drawings and handwritings. LoopAU (angst): Recently wrote a short comic on my Twitter tho. Long story short, Ren and Mona are trying to beat Yaldy alone, if they fail, the whole game restart. A bittersweet AU, because I kinda enjoy hurting my heart when I see shumako in pain. (I mainly post sketches of this AU in my side twitter account, due to the angsty nature of the story) InformantAU: A no-persona AU in which Makoto as a cop working with Joker (and his gang?) to dig info for the investigations. AU that created solely because I wanna draw shumako in suits.
TeacherAU: Aside from Makoto, everyone is a teacher. It started with Shumako ideas, but kinda shifted to focus a bit more on Ryuji, since this AU is actually heavily inspired by GTO, and Ryuji seems to fit the role better. (Still mostly have tons of shumako sketch moments with zero story progress asdfgh) All these four, except LoopAU, are mostly posted on my main account on twitter. Granted I have been so busy I barely have time to work on it fffffff. Honourable mention goes to A Tiny Queen and a Pint Sized Skull by RyanoftheAbyss, because tinykoto is freaking adorable and Ren taking care of inflicted status Makoto is cute.

Written for ShuMako Week 2019 Day 7 Theme: Family / Future / Children It's been two years since Ren and Makoto were wed. Ren's now working with Yoshida to improve the lives of Japan's youth. Makoto's up for a promotion soon as well! Things are going so well that it'd almost be a crime for life to throw a curve-ball their way, right? Right?!

You may do as many or as few prompts as you like. Late submissions happily accepted!
We will also retweet/reblog new creations tagged #shumakoweek even if they don’t fit our prompts, with a limit of one per account per day. We understand some media are tougher to associate with a prompt than others. For example, we don’t expect cosplayers to travel great distances for that new photo or create a prompt-specific outfit, though we’ll happily add it to the appropriate prompt Moment if they do!
What types of post are accepted?
Fanfiction, fanart, fanmixes, edits, headcanons, videos, and other content mediums that do not violate the rules (see below) and are not reposts of another person’s work will all be accepted. All submissions should free of hate and original for the week (not new chapters of ongoing work or other pre-existing work). We do accept NSFW material but ONLY if the post linking to it is safe for work.
How do you participate?
On Tumblr: You can either post the content on your own blog and we will reblog it here, or you can submit it to us at /submit. If you are posting on your own blog, make sure to mention @shumakoweek in the caption and use #shumakoweek in the tags.

What is the deadline?
There is NO DEADLINE to submit content. All late content will be accepted.
I want to do something but I’m not a creator!

Note on posting times:
Our team spans many time zones but work and life still happens. Please bear with us if we don’t retweet/reblog immediately. If your post doesn’t violate any of the rules and still hasn’t been retweeted/reblogged, please send an ask in! We may have missed it.
NSFW make take us longer to retweet/reblog because we have fewer people reviewing them for rule compliance and of course they can't review them from work :)
RULES:
NSFW (involving sex/porn) materials is accepted but ONLY if the post linking to it: (i) Is completely safe for work, no explicit previews even on hover, (ii) the link is clearly marked as NSFW, (iii) the post is acceptable on the platform on which it is submitted and (iv) does not involve photographs/videos of real humans. Basically anyone should be able to read our blog safely at work.
While we love a lot of ships over here at @shumakoweek, we want to keep this week focused on ShuMako only, so we won't be reblogging OT3s and other poly pairings that include the characters.
Any reposts we are mentioned or tagged in will not be reblogged here, and will be reported to the original creator or flagged.
Minor/adult ships of any kind (between a character over 18 and a character under 18) are strictly forbidden from appearing or being implied in the work.
Submissions should be new for the event. You can get started before the event begins, but their first posting should be for ShuMako Week, even if late.
Please don’t make your work a continuation or new chapter of an ongoing story, or part of an ongoing comic. The work cannot be part of something that has been posted prior to the event.
Make sure to use the appropriate tags for your content when you post it, including but not limited to death, injury, blood, etc.
Please keep your content hate-free, this includes hate targeted at other characters or ships.
The mods of @shumakoweek are people too. We reserve the right to avoid handling the content of anyone who harasses our mods.
This content has been adapted from the original Makoto Week page:
Most of the content of this post has been adapted from the original Makoto Niijima Week from 2017. Our ongoing thanks to the creators and curators for organizing the original event!

Shumako Children: Kana Amamiya
WARNING: THIS IS AN OC TIED TO A FAN FICTION SERIES I’VE BEEN WORKING ON. IF NOT INTERESTED IN THE KIDS OF REN AND MAKOTO PLEASE TURN BACK. CERTAIN PARTS ARE ONLY UNDERSTANDABLE IF YOU’VE READ MY “FUTURE ARC” SERIES. SORRY FOR THIS RANDOM WARNING AND I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY.
Kana Amamiya-Niijima
Age: 17-18
Attends Shujin Academy (After new management) Kana Amamiya is the oldest child of Ren and Makoto. She was born in a rather difficult situation where both Makoto and herself almost lost their lives. Fortunately, that was not the end result of her birth. Was raised in a loving home alongside her parents and her younger sibling. Appearance-wise she has long fluffy black hair that rolls down mid-back; if left unbrushed it gets SUPER fluffy like her dad's hair. Makoto at times making jokes that "I wasn't aware I gave birth to a sheep" which makes Kana groan all the time. She has the same eye color as her mother. Height is around 5'6" at the age of 16 and physique similar to her mother's at that age. Slightly more toned, however. Unique trait wise she's always wearing a bracelet given to her when she was younger by her father. It has three little charms attached to it for good luck. A Buchimaru one, one of the Phantom Thieves logo, and a small book-shaped one. Each tying into a specific member of her family. She usually wears t-shirts and shorts when going out in public. Says they're more comfortable than anything else. Her name was given to her based on the incident that occurred during her birth. The definition fitting for the situation at hand. Ren had also been so exhausted alongside his wife that he forgot to mention Futaba's friend by that same name. Thus it became a bit of a running gag for Futaba to tease him about making such a mistake. However, one day when Kana was a bit older she overheard all this and grew sad. Asking Futaba, "auntie Futaba... do you not like my name...?" Futaba never made fun of the name thing ever again, as she almost broke down crying at potentially hurting her niece. Kana as a child always wished to be as "strong and cool as mommy" thus learned both aikido and kickboxing. Making her quite the terrifying young woman to go up against, to say the least. Her main hobbies outside of training include gaming (thanks to Futaba being a huge influence when she was younger) and cooking (she REALLY likes to eat). She's also a little bit of a coffee addict due to her parents. The one thing that Kana adores above all else in the world is her family. She's always been a TOTAL daddy's girl. For as long as she could remember she loved being around her dad and was quite clingy to him as a child. Whenever scared she'd go to him for comfort. Ren also spoiled her rotten which Makoto always tried to avoid doing. Though she finds herself groaning at all the dad jokes he makes. Usually responding with, "Papa why?" Makoto meanwhile was a woman Kana respected more than anything. She wanted nothing more than to grow up and be as "strong and cool" as her mother. Also well aware that Makoto was someone not to be screwed with. For the longest time, Kana wanted to be able to one day beat her mom in a fight to show she was finally strong. In the many years since she's been training, Kana has never beaten Makoto even once. It's her goal to one day surpass her mom for sure. Truth be told, Makoto actually began to believe early on that Kana didn't love her as much as she did Ren because of how she clung to him and rarely came to her when she was little. That all changed one day when Makoto and Ren sat in Kana's class as the kids were presenting their projects on their favorite things. Makoto's heart skipping a beat when Kana's turn came up and she presented a posterboard reading, "Why my mommy is the greatest cop and mommy in the world." Makoto spent the entire night crying tears of joy after that. Kana also started braiding her hair in different ways to show her mom how much she loved her. Usually wearing one similar to the headband Makoto wore as a teen. Meanwhile, her relationship with her little brother is one of pure love. While she does enjoy teasing him, she is ALWAYS supportive. Most of the time you'll see her hugging the boy to show her love which only makes him blush like crazy. "Look at this adorable dork!" (She secretly enjoys making people blush.) She sees that he doesn't look very highly of himself thus is always trying to make him realize that he isn't just an accessory or side character. She even tries to take him along with her when hanging out with friends. It helps that most of her buddies are ones they both grew up with. They also tend to challenge each other at games all the time- her brother having a SLIGHT advantage over her. Outside of her immediate family, she was quite close to those she grew up around. She loves her grandpa Sojiro and always wanted him to teach her how to make curry as a child. When she was older he finally did so and Kana swears that he cried with joy at her success. She also greatly admired her aunt Sae and wanted to be as scary as her one day. Practicing her "Niijima stare" from a young age to which Sae always gave a score for. She'd also always beg Sae to sing for her like she did when she was a baby, but Sae usually refused, embarrassed by the notion. Though she did not grow up without a major problem. As a child, she dealt with a rather traumatic incident that left her mentally scarred for years. She would often wake up in the middle of the night due to nightmares screaming for her mom and dad. They'd always be at her side immediately to comfort her. For the longest time, she also slept in the same bed as them for comfort's sake. She also attended therapy sessions for a while to help overcome it all. Every now and then checking in with the therapist during her teens to make sure she was okay. It was through the help of her family and friends that Kana was able to grow up to be the kind of girl she is, and not let her trauma control her life. Though she sadly suffers from panic attacks. Growing up she was always told stories about the Phantom Thieves from her father. Her brother and herself always so fascinated by them while it also swayed Kana's perception of justice. Though after her incident as a child, she no longer viewed the Thieves as real sine "they did not come to save her." Never knowing that her parents were in fact Phantom Thieves themselves. However, she still keeps the tiny charm of the PT logo as a reminder of the stories that made her smile as a child. Also because it was a gift from her father. Her goals in life are unclear. Her parents are supportive of anything she decides on, but she actually has no clue what she wants to do in the future. Thus she's simply been going through the motions of school and such, hoping to discover what she wants to do along the way. Unaware of what life would bring her in the future.

Shumako Kids
Anyone else notice the sudden flood of Shumako based kids lately? I ended up in a weird place where several artists/writers are all posting Akira/Ren and Makoto's children (their own versions of course) and I'm doing the same with my current story. It's weirdly coincidental ._.
