Slovakia says Ukraine has not yet received the MiG-29 jets and has no forecast

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Slovakia, Jaroslav Nad, denied reports that Slovakia has already delivered MiG-29 jets to Ukraine, stating that no decision on this matter has been taken.

“Our MiG-29 fighters are not in Ukraine. This is false information. They are still at Sliac Air Base. They will protect our airspace until the end of August, and then you will be able to see them at SIAF [Slovak International Air Festival] on August 27, where we will officially say goodbye to them," Jaroslav Nad said on Facebook, as quoted by the Pravda publication. “We are negotiating with our allies and partners about what to do with them next. No decision has been made yet. We’ll let you know when this changes.”

Four years ago, Slovakia ordered 14 U.S. F-16 fighters. Initially, the country was supposed to receive the first aircraft later this year and the others in 2023. However, they will not be sent until 2024. American fighter jets will replace Slovakia's current MiG-29 fleet.

At the end of April, Nad said that Poland was prepared to protect Slovakia's airspace after the retirement of MiG-29 aircraft and until the arrival of the new F-16 jets.

The Czech Republic also said it could deploy its Gripen fighters to help protect Slovakia's airspace from September.

In early July, Eduard Heger, Prime Minister of Slovakia, said that his country could send its MiG-29 fighters and Soviet-made tanks to Ukraine, but refused to discuss the details at the time.

Government Schemes for Cancer Treatment

According to data from the cancer registry, 8,00,000 new instances of cancer are anticipated in India each year. Only 20% of Indians nationwide have health insurance. Over 80% of Indians are still without health insurance, some of whom may not be aware that they are eligible for government-sponsored insurance.

Apart from cancer, there are other chronic diseases like arthritis, stroke, asthma, heart disease and others that can break a patient’s hopes to get cured. Living with chronic diseases can be depressing in itself especially when a patient has to stay isolated. But the problems with chronic diseases just do not end here. 1. The Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund (HMCPF) is a programme offered by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi. Patients who are below the poverty level can access this. Follow these steps if you want to avail of the benefits of this scheme:

1. Fill out the form, have the treating physician sign it, and get the medical director of the government hospital, institution, or regional cancer centre to countersign it.

2. A copy of the income certificate should be submitted.

3. Copy of the ration card must be submitted.

The scheme is for both active and retired Central Government personnel as well as their dependents, CGHS is applicable. Other than the hospitals established under the CGHS, cancer treatment is available at approved prices from any hospital.
