Para mi trabajo de graduación me interesaría poder realizar un proyecto en el género del terror. Particularmente, hay un recurso o técnica al que siempre vuelvo, tanto cuando miro películas como cuando pienso en realizar un proyecto propio, y es el del found footage o metraje encontrado. 

Por metraje encontrado me refiero a aquellas películas en las que se presenta material como si hubiese sido descubierto/grabado por los mismos actores, quienes usualmente interactúan libremente con la cámara. Se inspira en la técnica literaria del manuscrito encontrado y la novela epistolar. Se dio uso a este recurso por primera vez en Holocausto Caníbal (1980), si bien fue popularizado recién para 1999 con la película de terror The Blair Witch Project, y más tarde con obras como REC (2007) y Paranormal Activity (2007), las cuales son grandes referentes cuando hablamos del metraje encontrado. 

Otro tema que me interesaría tratar, reconociendo las posibilidades que se presentar con este recurso, es el de las redes sociales. Habiendo tantas formas de compartir contenido, como lo son Instagram, TikTok o YouTube, creo que sería interesante explorar dichos formatos en el trabajo a realizar. Pensando también en el espectador actual, quien puede pasar horas mirando contenido rápido y de corta duración, pero cada vez se le hace más difícil sentarse frente a una pantalla y mirar un audiovisual de narrativa clásica, lineal o cronológica, de inicio a fin. En este sentido, obras y experiencias como Nerve (2016), Spree (2020), Host (2020), Searching (2018),This House Has People In It (2016), Bad Ben (2016), 13 Cameras (2015), Followed (2018), Unfriended (2014), Petscop, Silentdork o Louise Paxton (siendo lxs últimxs tres creadores de contenido de YouTube) me sirven mucho para pensar en nuevas formas de producir, compartir, y ver material, dado que juegan con los diversos formatos y se adaptan a las nuevas tecnologías y modas de su época, tanto técnica como narrativamente.

En cuanto a mi motivación, no hay una razón en particular por la cual quiero realizar este proyecto ahora y no antes, más que la posibilidad de hacerlo. Durante los años de cursada, sólo una vez encontré un grupo que estuviera interesado en realizar un proyecto dentro del género, y fue una experiencia muy nueva e interesante. Creo que esta es una excelente posibilidad para realizar este proyecto, considerando que llevo mucho tiempo pensando en hacer algo así y es un tipo de audiovisual que llevo estudiando y visualizando desde hace ya mucho tiempo.

Si bien no tengo un grupo, me interesaría trabajar con personas de intereses similares, interesadxs en el terror o en la experimentación con los diversos formatos y narrativas ofrecidos por las redes sociales.

La investigación nos empuja cada vez más a un abismo lleno de criaturas que nos amenazan o que solo quieren decirnos su verdad, he visto todo los videos de Silentdork, la historia florece desde aquí, todos esos chicos están muertos, ninguno a sobrevivido de aquello que los perseguía, invadía sus sueños y luego terminó ahogandolos, Jhonny dijo que vendría a Mérida a pasar unos días, ya no se siente seguro en ninguna parte en Santa Bárbara, las sombras, los objetos, incluso en sus sueños siente que está muriendo; "Recuerdas a Erick", fué lo último que le dijo aquella voz o el ente que siempre lo visita en sus sueños, ya no ve TV ni usa un celular porque las imágenes se distorsionan, y emiten sonidos alarmantes y espantosos, ha recibido amenazas de muerte por correo de una dirección desconocida y ya no se siente seguro usando la pequeña computadora de su casa para hablar conmigo, le dije que podríamos vernos y hablar todo esto en persona, era lo mejor, ni yo, ni el, estamos seguros, esas sombras y esos entes nos persiguen y no sabemos que son; me dijo que ha descubierto algo que es crucial y que podría ayudarnos mejor a entender todo esto, pero tiene que ver con la secta del padre Ohnir, ¿que será lo que este individuo y Mervin ocultan en su tan secreto y hermetico culto? me invade la ansiedad de solo pensar en la respuesta.

This is the perfect time to talk about Spectre from my ask blog @welcometoteknal~

He’s a really fun character because he’s a Cool Monster Hunter but he’s also a Nerd who doesn’t know how to flirt with his crush Axela5. He’s part of the mysterious House of Cloak and uses a scythe as a weapon to hunt monsters, which are Teknali (his species) that have committed unforgivable crimes and so transmogrify into monsters and continue the same crimes, so his family is tasked to find and kill these monsters before they hurt others. He’s really good at his job, but focusing so much on said job is most of the reason why he doesn’t know how to deal with people now and why he gets embarrassed easily around a cute face.

He also reads fanfiction and watches TV shows, and he gets into fights with ghosts since one in particular keeps stealing his sweets. But ghosts on Teknal are essentially really smart cats or raccoons or the like in terms of behavior, so Spectre is an idiot that argues with the equivalent of a cat trying to get it not to steal his food and it’s hilarious.
