I really love Jaster Mereel, the most “fine then I’ll do it myself” guy of all time. Like, after he killed his corrupt superior UHC style and got exiled for it he could’ve been on that vigilante shit. And he did come back ready for a fight- but not with a battalion, or another assassination. With a fucking entire new system of living and governing contained in a codex he wrote himself, based on ancient laws he wanted to resurrect. By all accounts he wasn’t even in academia or government before that moment, he was a cop. And the best part is he fucking managed to create a majorly consequential schism in Mandalorian society purely on the strength of having actually really good ideas in that big-ass academic magnum opus he spite-wrote. That’s some Protestant reformation shit!!!! I wonder if someone said to him during his sentencing like “you can’t just make up your own laws because you disagree with the ones we have” and he said oh word?? Insane, I love him.

Feels like people aren't appreciating the potential crack humor you can have with both present speeding bullet and bloody suit.

Like why is the father and son going for the same guy. What if they dont know the other's also flirting with sniper. What if sniper's aroace and he's just finding the entire situation hilarious. What if spy finds out scout also has feelings for sniper and has to deal with the fact he's personally fighting his own son over the campervan piss guy.

It's a sort of win-win lose-lose scenario

Running Blind

Another Speedingbullet au. One of Scout's respawns had gone wrong, and now he's stuck blind for a good while. Angst and fluff ensues as Sniper becomes his seeing eye dog- I mean,,, person. It also eventually leads to the second fic in the series, which is basically Sniper meeting all of Scout's family and UGH ITS SO GOOD. BUT STILL UNFINISHED so I won't post it here. Touch-starved RED Sniper accidentally hugs the BLU Spy during battle. Shenanigans ensue. That's all I'll say, but the fic is still rlly good I'd absolutely recommend u read it if u love a semi-slow-burn :)

Speedingbullet cops & robbers au with background heavymedic. Smiles so evilly at you. There's so much forced cooperation but enough fluff if you dig for it bUT SO MUCH GOES WRONG AND IT RUINS EVERYONE IN THE FIC SO FAST AND HEHAHEHAHDHHAHEHAHHR- basically . If you like fics that take you on emotional rollercoasters, I recommend this one, too.

Okay, there aren't very many good Sniper-centric fics in this fandom, but I LOVE this one. It does surround some very heavy topics such as child abuse and neglect from everyone else, but half the point of the fic is for Sniper to slowly come out of his shell and get close to each of the mercs! It's so good imo, but heads up that it's still unfinished. It just needs the final chapter, tho!

The rotating Played NPCs is a great tool for the RPG-narrative, I hope we get to see more arcs similar to the early show round tables / Woods crew / Carmen and Carlos show in Sorrow’s End. Widens the character cast a bit and lets us having a comedic break of whatever big history the main PCs have. Plus I just like a big cast.

dess is the knight. here's why

so, i keep seeing people arguing and being unsure who/what the knight is. lots of people saying that it's carol, or that it's actually none of the holidays and is just connected to them somehow. meanwhile i'm 99.99999999% certain it is in fact DESS. and you know what bumped my certainty levels up from like 75% to that 99.99999999%? gerson.

the dark world was able to use his dust to revive him for a time. he was perfectly himself, and he was in this sort of... limbo state of being a darkner and a lightner. but his funeral rites were followed correctly, minus actually burying his urn. so let's ask ourselves: what happens when the funeral rites aren't followed correctly?

what if they CAN'T be? what if the death is so sudden and horrible and her dust is lost? ... what if a fraction of her dust attaches itself to an object that does not correctly resonate with her soul? what if that's all that you have left of her? this incongruent amalgamation of her-but-not-her? do you throw the object away? no, that's your daughter. your childhood best friend. you're going to cling to the little bit you still have of her and try to bring the rest of her back. let the world end if it must; she's more important.

knight carol immediately falls apart for me for two big reasons, and one is simply that this is not what a lightner would look like in the dark world.

this is a lost, twisted being. this is the other side of the scale gerson was on, of near-simultaneously being a lightner and a darkner.

the other reason i can't buy into knight carol is that the knight was already waiting for susie and kris in the dark world while carol was at home grounding noelle. can the woman teleport? exist in two places at once? no. it's just not her.

anyway, plotholes in knight carol theory aside, there are SO many visual clues that the knight is at least a fraction of dess. if you weren't paying close attention - and good chance you weren't because you had bullets to dodge - you might have interpreted the knight's sword as just a sword. and then later, in noelle's house, you run into carol's katana and it's like, woah wait a SWORD?! that is intentional misdirection. the knight's sword is not a Sword. it's a bat.
