Satellite broadcaster acquires rights to Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu series, plus US shows Vegas, Arrow and The Following

Sky has bought the rights to the modern-day US adaptation of Sherlock Holmes starring Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, one of four stateside shows it has acquired including Vegas and The Following.

The Holmes adaptation, Elementary, proved controversial because it followed the BBC's own modern-day take on the classic detective story, Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Unlike the BBC version, CBS's New York-based Elementary features a female Dr Watson, played by Liu, opposite the Trainspotting star Miller.

The drama, which also stars Aidan Quinn as the New York police chief, Toby Gregson, will air on Sky Living in the autumn.

Eddie Redmayne cuts a stylish figure as The Jackal in @mo_klo’s Instagram footage from Croatia shoot of The Day of the Jackal series for Peacock/SkyTV. In fact, except for the Jackal’s cravat, Eddie could be in one of his street ensembles.

Eddie is portraying the elusive assassin made famous in Frederick Forsyth’s best selling 1971 political thriller novel + the classic 1973 film adaptation.

Just finished watching season 3 of Brassic and what a wonderful show. I can’t express how much I love it, I binged it in a few days and everything is perfect. The comedy, the drama, the musics and the outfits are all top notch and I cannot wait for season 4 to start to continue the journey.
