       Rey hadn’t felt the connection between them in weeks and even though she was mad at him--furious really for wanting all of her friends and his mother dead, for choosing power them--when she was alone with her thoughts she missed him. Or the idea of him, the idea of not being alone anymore, of finding someone that understood her, someone that truly cared about her and not what she stood for or what she was supposed to be. She was the Last Jedi now apparently, even though she had nothing to go for but a broken saber and ancient texts she could barely make out things from. 

       She was with her back resting against a tree and running her thumb over the scar she had on her other arm when she felt it and her heart started beating faster. “Supreme Leader,” she called him out in an angry whisper. “What do you want?”

She glanced down at her phone, for what seemed like the millionth time. Her first instinct was to toss it across the room. Or flip off the screen. But she knew neither would change it. She couldn’t forget what he’d said.

She can’t help but think, what an odd thing to be told. To be the sole reason someone finds new purpose in life. She can’t say that she’s ever felt something like that before…something so innocent, pure, and powerful. She’s never been that meaningful to anyone in her life. No, everyone in her life had come and gone like the shifting sands of her home planet. 

And then there’s Ben, a man who would hold her as precious treasure, and cherish that she ever bothered to look his way. Maybe Ben doesn’t make her better, per se, but he makes her alive. Acknowledged. Really, after all this time she couldn’t have asked for anything else. She doesn’t have the words to answer, all she can do is hold him in her arms tightly and hope he understands. 

For her, Ben Solo will always be enough.

She might not have been descended from a family like his. But she had a family. A father who loved her. Who she had found, finally, after years of waiting. Hoping. “Why would you lie?”

       “Anakin, what’s going on? Talk to me,” she asked firmly but there was an underlying tone of worry in her voice. She felt her baby kicked--it was probably picking up her nervousness and she unconsciously set one of her hands over her belly. “What happened?”

Of Tree Houses and Coming home : Closed @skywalkergenerations

The funny thing about shadows was they never gave away one trues size. Standing at his side with the sun hitting at just the right time during the day Rey Kenata could appear to be almost exactly the same as Ben Solo.

Almost.

And while their age difference wasn't one that spanned across sea's it was just enough to make her feel infinitely small, especially the older she got. In their younger years, in the tree house he and his father had built, in the hot summer nights with the dancing of fire flies it didn't matter. But later in life, when girls, and cars began to take precedence Rey who'd barely reached the training bra stage, who was still riding ponies, rather than the full sized horses at the equestrian club, she never got another glance. Occasionally however Ben's close friend Poe would ruffle her hair, and refer to her as their kid sister, and again despite their closeness in age, it killed her every time, until one day she told herself, it didn't matter.

When high school started, naturally they'd grown apart, she knew the things Ben did was simply to keep face among their families, and she hated the way he looked as if she'd become some sort of obligation, and so she began to lie, telling everyone she had found herself another ride, instead, waking earlier than normal, to take a route she knew he didn't drive, and walking herself to school.

And one day she'd gotten a bra, and graduated to the full sized horses, and jumps, and yet the friend she had her entire life was no longer there. There were no longer hot summer nights cramped in that rickety tree house, their laughter echoing through the yard until their sides hurt.

And then one day….he was gone all together, and Rey never found out why.

It was strange knowing that he had a child. But now, here he was, able to be the father he hadn’t been before. The question made him smile and he crouched down to the ground, arms open in front of him. “Of course you can. You always can, Ani.”

It was 2:30am when she finally knocked on her brother’s door -- not the normal pounding that usually occurred as screamed at him for taking something or other from her room, but a quiet, barely there knock. One that she did not want to risk waking their parents.

Anakin

While Leia enjoys driving her father crazy, it’s all in good fun (and for the betterment of the school community). Nine out of ten times, it’s Anakin that Leia will go to if she needs something. Because while Anakin and Leia butt heads over things like school policy and/or the Solo kid. Leia and Padme butt heads over EVERYTHING.

Leia occasionally suffers insomnia, much like her father does. It’s not unusual to find the two of them on the couch in the family room at 2:30 in the morning.

The amount her dad spoils her children drives her nuts. Right up until she, herself, becomes a grandmother. Then she understands it. 

Though she still wishes her parents would go through her and Han before just offering the kids something. (*coughcough*Breha’s house*coughcough*).

Ben

Even though her children are twins, Ben is the elder and also the first baby to be placed in her arms (Breha was handed to Han). There’s a special-ness to that, even if she can’t quite describe it.

While not on board with the whole name changing thing, Leia is, overall, more tolerant of the band than Han is. It’s Leia who offered to let them use part of the garage as a rehearsal space.

Leia 10000% supports Ben and Rey. She thinks the girl is quite good for her son.

Leia, quite often, plays mediator between her son and husband. Reminding both of them not to let their tempers get the best of them.

Ani

Ani is Leia’s first grandbaby and as far as she is concerned a precious angel baby who can do no wrong.

It was very hard for Leia when Breha and Ani moved out. She always knew it was coming; that once Poe finished basic (or came back from his tour abroad, depending on the decided timeline), Breha and the baby would go start their life with him as a family. But she still misses having him there every day.

Leia is very careful to make sure that when the subject of ‘stupid teenage antics’ get thrown about (as they sometimes do), it’s made very clear that Ani is, in no way, shape, or form, a mistake. He has only made this family better.

Leia and Han spoil Ani terribly. As is their rights as grandparents.
