Roleplay habits - Accepting!

I will utilize a line from one of the most disappointing sitcoms in history, at least where the final season is concerned. And most of the characters are concerned. Because this did not age well (T.ed Mo.sby has always sucked though).

“Nothing good happens after 2 AM.”

In short: Just go to sleep. No good writing ever happens after 2 AM. Do not make RP or RPC decisions after 2 AM. Just go the fuck to sleep.

I generally become far more stressed out and unable to find the right words for what I want to say around that time, and will, in general, not find the will to write until the next afternoon. At least. I am not a morning person and I won’t pretend to be, unless work demands it or I’m going on a real vacation (an.ime conventions don’t count: as a cosplayer, it’s physically demanding work all weekend, from wearing the costume to posing to always being friendly and on your A-game). 

It’s worse when I feel I have more replies than I can comfortably handle at that moment, and it’ll be some time until I’m able to accept starter memes and send memes. Somehow, this always happens when I get an influx of new mutuals wanting to interact and I’m just having to go “please give me a little time to write and queue everything I’ve already got, and then I’ll accept more threads!”

First impression

The prologue/first chapter made it seem like Morvay was going to be some kind of feisty bratty rude bad boy type. Which would work for me, of course.

He's actually just a Large Dog 😭Starved for affection (and cum), baby... a bit stupid, very impulsive, very open, likes to be stepped on but is a little bit (a LITTLE bit) embarrassed/reluctant to admit it. He hits a lot of good spots for me. Also when I saw his nipples it was over wtf those little volcano teats are everything. It's unfair that he's treated so badly by the game, my Morvay enjoyment would rival wolfboy if he had content.

Favorite moment

Okay this question is making me realize that my memory for specific moments is GARBAGE. Everything is so soupy and jumbled together in my brain... also there aren't that many Morvay moments, ugh. Is it cheating to say that I love the moment he gets pet in the new opening lol

I think his last birthday dialogue was really cute: Morvay was distraught that Aster had given him a list of tasks on his birthday, but then he realized that the list that Aster gave him was actually a list of 'delicacies' (guys to suck off lol). I also like it when Aster closes the window before Morvay can fly in, and when Morvay calls Kuya old and gets set on fire.

Idea for a story

🌈 Hardcore denial smut in which a sympathetic Eiden does his best to comfort an extremely punished Morvay who is gagged, caged, plugged, and nipple-taped (he got too silly).

🩸The rare cute Morvaster, in which Aster is overworked sleepy and has a headache from idk doing too much capitalism, and Morvay cautiously takes care of him. Aster is too tired to be mean and just nuzzles into pillowy incubosom.

🐍 Morvay is teaching Yakumo how to give good sloppy. Theory, practice, and demonstration, with a bit of a rush to get into demonstration, but he does care! Morvay is proud when people come to him for sex guidance.

🥞 Morvay is helping the Edmond and knights bust some sort of shady drug ring (he IS a master spy!). During the scuffle, the area gets blasted with sex pollen to which Morvay is immune as a nonhuman. It's up to him to drain everyone's essence so they don't suffer...

📖 As part of an Aster scheme, Morvay needs to woo a noble who is very into religious kink. He gets Olivine to give him pointers on his costume and act. Their sacrilegious practice roleplaying gets out of hand in morvoli horny feedback loop.

🪵 In gratitude for Morvay having saved Topper from some poachers, Quincy agrees to let Morvay suck him off again. But because of previous Morvay-induced trauma, Quincy fully ties him up for it and fucks his throat.

🦊After the latest bout of disrespect, Kuya curses Morvay so that every guy he touches can't get it up. When Morvay caves and wants the curse removed, Kuya subjects him to a mouth soaping (yes my array of punishment kinks is vast).

🐺 Morvay enlists Garu's help in going out on a wilderness expedition to collect some rare "incubus vine" fruit. The vines should be dormant that time of year, but they aren't (Kleinmate change!) and the pair gets plant tentacled.

🤖 Having discovered Blade's magical cum reflavoring abilities, Morvay continues to explore them like Eiden. This time they're doing booze of some kind, but drunk Blade proves himself an absolute menace.

☀️ Morvay gets in trouble in Solaria like he does in the Royal Capital, but Aster isn't there to smooth things over. Dante becomes very annoyed at how unrepentant he seems as he expects to be let go, and deigns to administer a lashing of some sort himself.

💀 Rin is starving Morvay out while he's captured in the Dark Territory. He promises that he'll let Morvay suck his dick (which is exactly like Master's dick) if Morvay does some degrading task. Morvay does it, and then despairs as he realizes that Rin basically doesn't have essence, so sucking his dick is fruitless.

Anyone that wants can take these ideas, run with them, twist them, idc. No need to credit!

Unpopular opinion

My most unpopular opinion about Morvay is that I love Morvay.

My second most unpopular opinion about Morvay is that his SR looks good and I like it better than his SSR. I really enjoy his round, bubbly muscles and his sweet baby face. The creepy yakuza uncle vibe of Mauve Mayhem doesn't really do it for me, with the glasses in particular making him feel too old.

Favorite relationship

It has to be Aster/Morvay from what canon presents. Obviously. Punishment & dubcon are my whole thing and OH BOY ahahah I love how evil Aster is to him, and how Morvay whines 💜 Also love that he's beeg and tittiful and Aster is smol and squeaky.

In the realm of relationships as they exist in my brain, I of course like Morvay/GaruKaru. I like to think that Morvay is proud of how much of a slut Garu has become, and that he has moments of both commiseration and exasperation with Karu earning himself/both of them vampire-inflicted punishment.

Favorite headcanon

I like to play around with Morvay's magic incubus biology and to extrapolate many things from that.

He's an enthusiastic bottom because he's primarily interested in obtaining essence from sex, and sees topping as a net 'loss' (however, he can do it and is great at doing it out of principle).

EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG: I have been on Tumblr roleplaying since 2015, however my roleplaying journey began when I was 14 years old (teen chat rooms ((A/S/L anyone)) -> IMVU forums -> MSN messenger -> AIM -> Skype -> Tumblr -> Line -> Discord -> back to Tumblr). Before all of this little-Muddy was playing tabletop games and acting out stories.

BEST EXPERIENCE: I found my best friend through Tumblr roleplay. Skit and I never would have met if not for a chance recommendation from a mutual. This was when I didn’t know how the website worked, wasn’t tagging, was on a default theme, used awful big images and was hitting a lot of walls because there isn’t a how-to guide to get into the Tumblr bubble. Skit took me in at my worst (how was I not an embarrassment to type with my god) and deserves the very best for helping me in so many ways.

RP PET PEEVES: Let me preface this with I know everyone has limited spoons, and this has nothing to do with slowness or needing to ease thread load, this is directly related to interest not being communicated. Going hard on my OC’s with liking starters or grabbing opportunities from mutuals in general and getting dropped after 1 reply or no returned interest is more disheartening than a peeve, however it’s worth noting because once that happens I’m more likely to back off with any of my canon characters. Perhaps that is a little petty but I much prefer to be told ‘actually, I don’t think our characters will fit’ outright than having to smack into a wall several times to get the message, whereas my canons can walk in 5 months late with starbucks and a flimsy excuse but be fine. TL;DR: if my OC is on struggle street with a blog, but my canon character is cruising, of course I notice.

MUSE PREFERENCES FOR ANGST / FLUFF / SMUT: ‘All’ for most of my muses. Ariadne is more adventure, horror or occult themed.

PLOTS OR MEMES: Plots. Having a vague idea and running with it, throwing bumps in the road or outright breaking the road.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: Nice middle ground. I think 4 paragraphs is a happy spot for me, 2 I feel like I’m not contributing enough and once I’m leaning more into 8 paragraphs I lose motivation and spoons quickly because writing actually takes a lot of focus for me.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: When it is completely quiet. I cannot write or even brainstorm when there is background noise. That tends to fall into night time, but then I also battle with feeling sleepy and not having the energy to.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE: I wish I were so sassy. No, I think I have a dumb sense of humour and am way too gamer-nerd and relaxed to really relate to any of my characters like that.

Right, that most infamous and meme'd horror to all writers…

Only… one thing I've learned over the decades is that sometimes… writer's block isn't a lack of inspiration or word constipation or whatever your first thought about it might be.

Sometimes, it's executive dysfunction. Sometimes, it's depression. And it can be difficult to discern which, if either, or even a third secret thing. So my first bit of advice is ask yourself where you are in terms of your mental health as to whether there might be something making writing more difficult than what you want or expect it to be.

I don't talk about this often, but when I got away from my abusive ex, I had a whole saga of novels fully written in their first drafts and in various stages of being edited and rewritten. He found every copy - physical and digital - and destroyed them. This was before I had reliable cloud storage at all, so I lost pretty much everything for the entire four book series.

That very series is where Layla originates. She started out as a side character, one who didn't even show up until over halfway through the second novel. I was so discouraged by the loss of all that work, that I stopped writing for years. I even stopped joining tabletop roleplaying games and LARPs because I lost all drive for character creation and world building…

This, coming from someone who has won NaNoWriMo multiple times over the years, who has been writing as a hobby since they were eight years old. To have all words just stop… It wasn't for a lack of wanting to write, or a lack of ideas. I was simply too consumed by depression to write.

After I moved out of state, I was able to get health insurance, and I was quickly prescribed anti-depressants and therapy. Those helped. The words didn't come back right away, but it helped. I got back into roleplaying online with friends. Eventually, I gave roleplaying on tumblr another try.

Layla was the first muse I brought to tumblr, when I thought I might never write again. She became the new protagonist of the total rewrite of the series, turning things on it head and putting her at the front of the whole thing.

So if you're struggling with writer's block, start with yourself and your needs first: Are you hungry? Thirsty? Sleepy? In need of going to the toilet? In need of a shower? In need of some social interaction? In need of some random fun? In need of some new scenery? Treat yourself like a Sim and get your basic needs in check first. You might find that's all it takes.

If it's still hard after you've taken care of the basics: Is there something in your current environment causing you distress? If so, can you do something to alleviate it in any way to at least reduce its impact on you? How's your mental health? Are you feeling anxious? Depressed? Do you have someone you trust and are comfortable with to talk to about it? Again, do so if you're able. If you have the means, even consider approaching therapy as an option, as talking about things in general with a professional can help.

Now, if it's a simple lack of inspiration, or words are too hard? Writing manuals, like those from Writer's Digest, can be a lifesaver. As can the various blogs with prompts - and not just rp starters, but like the ones for fanfic and original works that you find on Dreamwidth and such.

Need ideas for where to start? There are tons of random scenario generators, first sentence/paragraph generates, etc. available for free online. Any little thing can be a spark in the right direction, if all you're missing is an idea. Let yourself scroll through artwork. Take a virtual tour through a museum. Listen to a podcast. Spin around in circles.

Give yourself permission to write poorly, then do it. Open a separate document somewhere and write the first thing that comes to mind. Does it suck? GREAT! You still wrote something! Save it, set it aside (not in the trash bin), and start another doc. Write something else. Rewrite the same thing, but slightly different. Turn left instead of turning right.

Whatever's throwing off your groove will pass. Sometimes it can be more stubborn than other times, and that's usually when it's a sign of mental health things. Don't be afraid to ask for help for those things.

Hell, try thinking about the other stuff you probably need to be doing that you've been putting off for whatever reason. I have seriously motivated myself into writing in order to avoid doing those other things. Brains are weird, so just try things until you find what works.

It's okay to get frustrated. It's okay to get discouraged when the words don't want to flow easily. Unfortunately, there's not a Drain-O for Writers to unclog things when the words get stuck.

And sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is just step back and let yourself not write for a little bit. Creative burnout is a bitch, so give yourself time to rest and just daydream a while. Read a book. Listen to music. Watch a movie. Play a game. Make your favourite hot drink. Eat some ice cream. Dress in drag and do the hula.

And remember, just because the words are harder than usual in that moment, they'll come back to you eventually. Even if it doesn't feel like it for a while.
