1. My first impression of them hmm its funny bc i think i first watched edge of tomorrow in august and i was normal about it actually? i was like hm that was a good film but not the best of his movies for sure. i dont think i really understood most of it though so a rewatch was necessary, but that didn't happen until february and idk what clicked that didn't the first time but oh i am SOOOOOOOOOO insane about it now the lights are all flipped on

2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like) i knew as soon as he tripped over the chair that i was going to love his stupid pathetic ass <3

3. A song that reminds me of them ill NEVER STOP SAYING THIS but 'the proof of your love' by for king & country it is SO bill-coded, so billrita-coded, it's literally their theme song idk what else you want me to say

however since i've said that one before i'm reccing 'undercover angel' by alan o'day because it would be one of those classics he used to love growing up and when he hears it again on the radio some time after they've gotten together he's like "rita oh my GOD do you know how to dance 🥺🥺🥺" and she's like "nooooooo not the fucking angel song, cage, come on-" but he teaches her how to waltz to it and . let me be delusional okay

16. A childhood headcanon wawawa.... baby bill.... hm i have several small ones but i firmly subscribe to the headcanon that he was actually born in georgia because his mom is from there (it would explain EVERYTHING about him, especially because i also hc that his personality was just copy-pasted directly from his mom) but he moved to cranbury when he was like one or two so he considers himself "from cranbury, born and raised" anyway

20. A weird headcanon ok uhhhh idk if this is weird but it IS oddly specific so! he can make one (1) pie recipe! it's blueberry pie (cranbury is famous for it, according to google) and rita LOVES it. she's definitely not a sugar person and rarely indulges in anything at all but she's such a sucker for that fucking pie and bill is always over the moon whenever she gives him That Look that means she wants another slice but is too proud to ask

23. Future headcanon he takes rita to visit cranbury a couple years after they both fall into place beside each other and it's a very emotionally healing experience for both of them. he tells her lots of silly meaningless little anecdotes from when he was growing up while giving her the grand tour and rita isn't a very sentimental person either but she can't help how easy it is to picture him living in that cute little town when he gets so chatty about it :,)

(also rita eventually takes him to her hometown in wolverhampton and reluctantly introduces him to her very alive, very normal parents because i said so)

27. If they could meet a character from another show/movie/etc, who would be the most fun for them to meet? in my mind he and fix it felix jr get brunch every sunday to catch up about the horrors they have been through and gush about their sexy muscular action girlfriends. nobody can take this idea away from me

The air shimmers, heat waves rising off the blacktop. The sun beats down mercilessly, reflecting off the jets. The radio in the corner of the hangar chirps about the heat wave continuing for another four days, at least. Goose is thoroughly convinced that he no longer has a corporeal form but is melting. He’s draped himself over a couple of wooden crates, staring up at the ceiling at the fans that do nothing but move hot, stale air around. Mav’s sitting against one of the crates, and he can feel the vibrations coming from the other man.

 It’s too fuckin’ hot.

 The air boss and command are bickering if training should continue, or end for the day and have an altered schedule until the heat breaks. Which left the rest of the class to find some respite from the hellscape while plans were made. The buildings multiply the heat, packed with other personnel and even shittier fans that do nothing to provide any sort of comfort.

 There’s a tap on his leg, and Nick manages to open an eye. Ron is standing entirely too close, he points to one of Nick’s legs, and he lets it drop from the crate. The other RIO sits down heavily. “Runway is registering 120*” he says.

 “I really don’t want to hear that.” Nick groans, sitting up. There was space between them, but it was still too close. Their flight suits were heavy and hot, in addition to the gear they wore and carried. “I’m about ten minutes from walking into the ocean.”

Mav’s on his feet, pacing back and forth. He’s chewing on his thumb, and if it weren’t so fucking hot, Nick would have told him to calm down. “I’m going to go see if there’s any updates.”

“Yeah, yeah, go find Ice.” Nick snorts. “Arguing with him should help you burn off some energy.”

“Thanks man,” Mav glares at him, “you are so helpful, as always.” He winks over his shoulder as he heads for the main building.

 Ron chuckles, and it’s a nice sound. It draws Nick’s attention, and he continues to watch the other man. His eyes follow the path of a droplet of sweat that runs down Ron’s neck, disappearing under the collar of his flight suit. There’s a sheer sheen on his tanned skin, and Nick shoves his hands into his pockets. The urge to reach out and touch, taste, lick the salt from heated skin is getting to be overwhelming. He swallows hard and looks away.

 “Something wrong Goose?” Ron leans closer. Nick can smell his cologne, the warmth of the day, and under it all something that is distinctly Ron.

 “S’hot.” Nick says, wiping his forehead with his sleeve. “Tired of it.” It’s just the two of them in the hangar, and if anyone chews his ass about not being in uniform, Nick decides he’ll just take it. He unzips the flight suit, twisting out of most of his gear, letting the heavy canvas hang around his hips. It’s only marginally cooler in a sweat stained white t-shirt, but at least now he can breathe.

 Ron does the same, only he’s sitting on the crate shirtless, a crumpled t-shirt next to him. “At least it’ll dry.”

��This, this is far worse, Nick thinks. Sweat rolls down Ron’s neck, between his pecs, his gaze following it onto Ron’s belly. “If you spread it out, maybe.” His voice is thick, words heavy on his tongue. He can’t look away, beads of moisture gathering on Ron’s shoulders, the swell of his bicep, tracing the cording of his muscular arm.

 It's hotter than fuck in the hangar and it’s not just because of the giant flaming murder ball in the sky.

 “Nick.”

 He blinks, drawn out of the most delicious of thoughts when Ron says his name. The other man is standing in front of him, peering owlishly into his face. “You with me?”

 “Yeah, yeah.” Nick says. It’s been too long since they’ve been alone together, too long to be this close and in the open. Classes and training had taken up everything, and they barely managed to sneak hurried kisses, let alone get into what they really wanted. Nick reaches out, fingers tangling in Ron’s damp hair, pulling him in for a kiss. It’s a messy, needful thing, all teeth and tongue, Ron’s calloused hands gripping the slim sliver of skin that peeks out at Nick’s hips. Nick’s other hands glide over heated skin, blunt nails skimming over Ron’s back.

 “I’m worried about you.” Ron rasps, lips brushing Nick’s. “You spaced out for a few minutes.”

 “You’re so goddamn hot.” Nick murmurs, mouth smearing against Ron’s jaw.

 “Everything’s hot, baby.” Ron replies, his head tipping slightly.

 “No, I mean you’re hot. I want to…” Nick exhales, licking a path along Ron’s neck. He’s warm and feels so fucking good under his tongue.

 “Tell me.”

 “Shove you in a cold shower and fuck you until we’re warm again.” His hands settle on Ron’s hips, pulling him closer. Nick leans back on the crate, taking some of Ron’s weight.

 “The one on the third floor?” Ron groans softly, hips rolling as he grinds against Nick. He swipes at his face, wiping his hands on his pants. “Sorry baby don’t mean to drip on you.”

 Nick licks along Ron’s jaw. “You taste so good.” He moans softly. “Yeah, midnight? We should be back in time for 0300 bed check.” They’re both sticky and wet, bodies gliding together. Nick has lost his shirt, and Ron laps at his collarbones. Ron’s hands are hot, too hot, and Nick moves under them like silk. He’s craved this for so long, and he barely registers that they’re in the open, touching, kissing. He grunts when Ron grabs his thigh, wrapping it around his waist, pushing him down onto the crate. He grabs Ron’s dog tags, pulling the warm metal into his mouth, tongue tracing the letters of the name he loves so much.

 “Midnight.” Ron rasps. “I’ll get Mav and Ice riled, so we won’t be followed.” Teeth graze Nick’s throat, his chest, a love bite sinking into his side.  

 The loudspeaker crackles to life, and they jump apart. “All flights, trainings and flight exercises have been canceled for the next 72 hours. Personnel will report to receive alternate duty.” There’s a metallic whine before it falls silent.

 “I’ll be there.” Nick says, grabbing his shirt, pulling it back on. “I promise.”

 Ron yanks him in, forehead pressed to Nick’s. “I’ll see you soon, asshole.”

 “I love you too, darling.” Nick grins.

Last series: The tv is on in the background with NCIS, the first season, when Tony gets the Plague, but I'm changing it to college football reruns lol. ESPN is showing last year's TCU/Kansas State game right now

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: generally savory but I do like sweets. My spice tolerance isn't great but it's better than it used to be

Currently working on: I'm trying to get an Iceman-lives post-canon fic started but I also reviewed the prompt options for the top gun trick or treat exchange today so I'm thinking about those ideas too!

finished reading chapter 4 of your jeep. your teeth. the coffee that you bought me... and i am LOCKED IN. this story is so so good - to see it that it updated yesterday made my day, and then to READ IT made my day even more!!! i love how you write Ice so much, I love Maverick's internal monologue, I love Bradley and wish I could give him a big hug and drive him right to a therapist and tell him it's gonna work out... i've got big feelings about this fic and love it so so much <3 thank you as always for writing!!!

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the story, it means so much to hear people tell me that they like how I’m writing these characters, because they mean so much to me as well!

Ice is such this complex guy (in a different way that Mav is) and me and him are alike in some ways but then we couldn’t be more different, so hearing that you think he’s characterized well made my day and it’s only 11 AM where I am.

Uh...this year?? as in this calendar year? i...haven't seen anything released this calendar year 😔 i have been a bad movie fan. As for anything since May 2022, I'd have to go with Top Gun Maverick, obviously 😂

2. A movie you think is underrated

My TC answer is...probably The Last Samurai or M:I Rogue Nation, though idk if you can say something is underrated when both of those grossed a shit ton of money lol. Oh, I also like M:I II which is largely panned, I think?

My non-TC answer is Star Trek Insurrection! yes yes it's not a BIG movie in the way some of the other star trek movies are but it's really enjoyable and has more TNG tv show vibes than any of the other TNG movies.

Top Gun fic idea: 5+1

Five times Maverick walks in on two men in compromising positions and one time someone walks in on him kissing his husband. During DADT and after

1) Hollywood/Wolfman: Wolfman is on his knees in front of Hollywood the shower. They're afraid he's going to report them so they try to convince him he's wrong. He tells them he saw what he saw and that he will cover for them whenever necessary. He's not with Ice yet but he knows he swings both ways.

2) Cyclone/Warlock: He's Bye sexual now because he is NOT DEALING WITH THIS. Also, Warlock, you could do so much better than this guy.

3) Phoenix/Halo: they are kissing in a closet Maverick opens the door and closes it immediately. He sticks his hand inside: "I saw nothing but can you please hand me that broom? Thank you."

4) Yale/Harvard: the most afraid of all because they are both from conservative households. They're in the showers. Maverick thinks back on Hollywood and Wolfman. "I don't care who or what you do but not in the fucking showers, is that understood?! Come on, you're bunking together; I should not be telling you two to get a room. You already have one!"

5) Rooster/Hangman: kid, I've known since you were a teen. Hangman, don't even think about leaving your wingman

+1) Iceman/Maverick: they kiss at Ice's SECNAV inauguration

Since it was your birthday yesterday, I'll send more than just a sentence! Here's a whole chunk of dialogue:

“Let Ice stay with you tonight.” Maverick’s mouth went dry as his face turned red. Slider saw the hesitation and grabbed Maverick’s face between his big hands. “Please. My parents can keep Jason so it’s just Ice to deal with. I haven’t had any time with Lisa for almost four months.”

“You make Ice sound like a puppy you’re trying to rehome,” Maverick grumbled.

“Exactly.” Slider’s warm eyes were earnest. “If he chews on your disgusting boots or pees on your kitchen floor I will apologize with beer once we’re all stateside again. But we will be on that godforsaken transport flight in,” Slider tiled Maverick’s head so he could read his watch and wince, “about nine hours and I’m not missing this chance to celebrate my win with the woman I love.”
