Create a Lounge Area
One of the best ways to make your terrace feel more comfortable and inviting is to create a lounge area. This can be achieved by adding comfortable outdoor furniture, such as a sectional sofa, chaise lounges, or even a hammock. Make sure to add plenty of cushions and throws to make it feel cozy and welcoming.
Hang String Lights
String lights are an inexpensive and easy way to add ambiance to your terrace. Hang them from the ceiling, or use them to create a canopy over your seating area. You can also wrap them around trees or railing to add more light and create a magical ambiance.
Add Plants and Flowers
Adding plants and flowers to your terrace can create a natural and beautiful setting. Use potted plants to decorate the corners of the terrace, or hang baskets of flowers from the ceiling or railing. You can also create a beautiful centerpiece using a large planter filled with colorful flowers.
Set Up a Bar
Setting up a bar on your terrace can be a fun and interactive addition to your birthday party. You can set up a simple bar with a few bottles of wine, beer, and some basic mixers, or you can create a more elaborate bar with a variety of cocktails and garnishes. Don't forget to add some comfortable seating around the bar, so your guests can sit and enjoy their drinks.
Serve Delicious Food
No birthday party is complete without delicious food. You can grill burgers, hot dogs, or kebabs, or serve a variety of finger foods, such as chips and dips, cheese and crackers, or fruit skewers. Make sure to have plenty of napkins and plates on hand, and consider hiring a caterer or food truck to make your party even more special.
Use Colorful Decorations
Adding colorful decorations can make your terrace feel more festive and celebratory. Hang colorful banners, streamers, or balloons from the ceiling or railing. You can also use colorful tablecloths, napkins, and plates to add more color and vibrancy to your party.
Create a Photo Booth
Setting up a photo booth on your terrace can be a fun way to capture memories and create lasting mementos of your birthday party. You can create a simple backdrop using a colorful sheet or fabric, and set up a camera or smartphone on a tripod for your guests to take pictures. Don't forget to add some fun props, such as hats, glasses, and mustaches, to make your photos even more memorable.
Add a Fire Pit
Adding a fire pit to your terrace can create a warm and cozy atmosphere, especially on cooler nights. You can set up a simple fire pit using bricks or stones, or you can purchase a portable fire pit that can be moved around your terrace. Make sure to add plenty of seating around the fire pit, so your guests can enjoy the warmth and conversation.

18th of April
alternative title: happy birthday badass bitch
for my dear friend emily @travellvogue
Tumblr media
“Working on your birthday shouldn’t be allowed,” you thought to yourself as you stepped inside the house, where you had longed to be all day, exhausted from a full work day. Your birthday started off amazing – with breakfast in bed prepared by your lovely boyfriend, a dozen presents that were way too expensive for your liking though you loved them a lot, and several bouquets of the prettiest flowers from that florist down the street decorating every room in the house. “Only the best for my favourite girl,” Trent had said with a smug smile, having really outdone himself for your birthday this year and he was proud. Even though he knew you’d be happy with some lush bath bombs or some books (which were of course included in the presents as well) he couldn’t stop himself completely spoiling you on your special day.
After that great start to your day you had reluctantly gotten dressed in your work outfit, hopped in your car after a goodbye kiss from Trent and drove to your work for a full day of phone calls and meetings. Now that you were finally home, you couldn’t wait to spend the final hours of your birthday with your man.
“There she is!” Trent smiled at you, coming from the living room to greet you in the hall. “How was your day baby?” he asked, pressing a kiss to your lips and gently brushing one of his hands through your long hair. “Tiring. I missed you,” you mumbled, leaning closer again for another kiss, and another.
“Mmm I missed you too,” Trent smiled against your lips. “I told you, you should’ve taken the day off,” he added, quite disappointed he didn’t get to spend the entire day with you, but it was alright – his plans for tonight would make up for it. “I definitely will next year,” you giggled, definitely having learned from this mistake, knowing you would have enjoyed your birthday much more if you could have spent it at home with him instead of having to smile at everyone who wished you a happy birthday at work – you could have done without all the birthday attention. Besides, you had discovered that planning other people’s birthdays on your own birthday wasn’t exactly ideal either, seeing all the great plans you were putting on paper and in moodboards for strangers while you spent your day at the office.
“Well madam, to show you what you’ve missed all day, I have prepared something for you,” Trent smirked, making you raise your eyebrows at him. “Oh? And what is this something that you have prepared?” you asked, the night already starting to look promising. “That’s a surprise, you’ll see in a few minutes,” he winked. Of course it was. “I hate surprises, you know that,” you rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t help the small smile appearing on your lips.
“Trust me?” Trent asked and came up behind you, covering your eyes with his hands after you nodded. He led you through the house, making sure you wouldn’t trip or bump into anything, until you could feel a breeze on your face, the sliding doors leading to the garden being pushed open. “Mind your step here,” Trent said as you stepped outside, letting you go a little farther to the place he had prepared everything.
“3,2,1… Tadaaa,” Trent removed his hands from your eyes so you could see, a small table in front of you with food that looked delicious, table decorated with flowers and even the plates were all set in a fancy way he had seen you do on special occasions like Christmas and other family dinners. As you looked around the garden you noticed how pretty it looked, fairy lights decorating the trees, some lanterns hanging around the area as well, and there were even some white and pink balloons floating in the air that said “Happy birthday Emily”, the strings attached to the railing of the steps that lead up to a raised terrace in the back of the garden. The fire pit was on for some extra warmth since evenings in April were not quite warm enough yet to stay out for too long, though since the sun was only just starting to set you could still feel the warmth of the sunlight on your face.
“Did you do all this?” you asked Trent with a smile, turning around to see a proud grin covering his face. “Yes. Well… I have to admit, mum helped me out a lot, especially with the food,” he chuckled a bit, knowing that if he would have done the cooking all by himself it would probably be a takeout, but he wanted you to have the best homemade food possible and his mum happened to be a real chef, your favourite meal being one of her specialties.
“I love it, thank you,” you pressed another kiss to Trent’s plump lips before taking a seat at the table, Trent serving you your food before sitting down in front of you. “Bon appetit,” he winked at you and took a forkful of carbonara in his mouth. You ate in a comfortable silence, talking about your day a bit but you didn’t want to talk about work too much while you were enjoying your birthday dinner. Instead, you listened to Trent telling you all about how he and Di spent their day preparing for your birthday, cooking and decorating.
“I know it’s getting a bit chilly out now,” Trent said after you had finished your meals, “but I feel like only now the sun is setting you’ll really be able to appreciate what I did with all the lights.” You laughed a bit, but nodded your head, agreeing that you couldn’t go inside now dusk was finally setting in and the lights lit up the garden beautifully. You couldn’t let all his hard work go underappreciated.
“The fire should keep us warm, and I’ve got some blankets so we can cuddle.” You followed Trent to where he had set up some blankets and pillows, happily sitting down in front of him with your back leaning against his chest, his arms wrapped around you to both keep you warm and pull you as close as possible to him.
“I love you so much,” he whispered after a few minutes, both of you looking up at the stars as if you could try and find constellations, though you never really managed to. “I love you too,” you smiled, turning your head to give Trent a kiss before letting your eyes go over the stars in the sky again, more of them appearing the darker it got.
“I’ve got one more present for you,” Trent broke the silence again after a while. “Trent! You’ve spoilt me enough!” Trent laughed, having expected this reaction from you since he had already given you a bunch of presents before, but this last one was perfect to give to you right now.
“I promise it’s not something expensive or fancy.”
He stood up to go inside and get you your present. A shiver ran over your back from the loss of warmth, the cool air getting to you now you no longer had Trent’s body heat keeping you warm. Trent quickly returned with a gift bag in his hand, thin paper on top to cover up what was inside.
“You can look,” Trent smiled and sat down behind you again, the warmth radiating off him already protecting you from the chilly air better than the fire could. You reached your hand into the bag, your fingers touching soft fabric. A grey sweater was revealed when you pulled out your present, the material being so soft you instantly wanted to wear it and feel it on your skin. You held it up in front of you, the size definitely way too big for your body, and the sweater was just grey other than something small embroidered at the bottom of the sleeves.
“You know how you always steal my hoodies? I’m about to have none left since they’re all on your side of the closet, so that’s why I bought you this. It’s in my size, so it fits you the same as mine fit you. And my initial is on the sleeve so you can always think of me when you wear it,” Trent pointed out the small black T you noticed earlier.
“I’ve even put my cologne all over it already so it smells like me,” he winked, making you giggle a little, knowing one of the reasons you always wore his shirts was because they smell like him.
“Thank you, I really like it,” you smiled, pulling yourself out of Trent’s embrace a little so you could pull the sweater over your head, the soft fabric feeling so comfortable, and the scent of your boyfriend’s cologne making it even better.
“Thought it was perfect to give you this now so we can stay out here a liiittle longer,” Trent said and wrapped his arms around you once again, not ready to go back inside yet as he was enjoying spending time in the garden with you a lot. The doggies, that had been sleeping in the living room most the time, eventually came out for a cuddle as well, a bit afraid of the fire at first but they enjoyed being all close to you and wrapped up in blankets with you, happily continuing their nap outside.
You spent your night in such a simple way – dinner, cuddles, kisses, and just Trent’s company – but it was all you ever needed. You didn’t need a big birthday party or many visitors, you just needed Trent to make your birthday a memorable one. Even going to work earlier in the day couldn’t ruin it for you, and the idea of your and Trent’s families visiting later in the week was something to look forward to, but in that moment, cuddling by the fire with your little family, you felt happiest and more content than ever.

Idol House: House Party
NicoMaki, Love Live, 1.7K, 1/1
Nico is overbooked for her birthday. Will Maki have a cure?
House Party
Nico’s office. Nico’s desk. Executive producer Yazawa Nico. Nico was almost impressed. It wasn’t a large office, but it had a window. And on her desk to the right of her desktop was a large framed picture of Maki and her siblings looking goofy while enjoying the Christmas lights at Yomiuri Land. Maki had bought them all matching Santa hats and was wearing a red coat with a white collar that made her look like the jolly old elf’s close relative. Looking at it never failed to make Nico smile, no matter how frustrated meetings and phone calls were making her. Maki magic.
Maki magic was what Nico needed now. Tomorrow was her birthday and Nico had a morning schedule full of meetings and an afternoon trip out of Tokyo to a photoshoot in Numazu. Nico’s new niche was fashion influencer so pics on the beach in the latest swimwear was a mid summer essential. A working birthday. Nico thought it would be more fun, more fans, less train tickets and driver schedules and far too pragmatic photographer portfolios. Even the ones who’d included near porn shots made them look businesslike. The magic was being drained out of everything.
Which is why...Nico closed her eyes, leaned back in her chair, and thought about the last time she and Maki had spent a full weekend alone together, in Kyoto, for Maki’s birthday, cherry blossoms scattered everywhere, and Maki glorious in both sun and starlight. Why can’t Nico have a birthday like that? Instead, she was staying late at the office to finalize the details of their concert tour, which was finally, after multiple delays, about to happen.
Her door opened and Nico jumped. Maki was there, in a dress that looked like a light trench coat with the shoulders ripped off, a thick black belt, and scattered bold photoprint patches. A straw fedora and kicky black boots with a hint of chain finished the outfit.
“You’ll give Nico a heart attack. Knock.”
Maki just shook her upper torso, Nico’s objections gaining no traction on her bare shoulders, and stepped around Nico’s desk, leaning to sit on it, stretching her legs out, hands in faux coat pockets.
“You’re finished.”
Nico pointed to the schedule she was in the middle of, “Nico’s to do list says no.”
Maki leaned over, hint of lavender shampoo drawing Nico in, looked very seriously at Nico’s screen, and hit the power button. The screen blanked.
“HEY!”
Maki stood. “I have something to show you.”
Nico had a brief thought about trenchcoats, fantasies, and what Maki might not be wearing underneath that dress, her hand sneaked out, the fabric was lighter than she expected. “Show Nico?” Nico’s voice trembled more than she ever would admit to.
Maki chuckled, and leaned in slowly to stamp a kiss on Nico’s cheek, “Later.” Her fingers laced through Nico’s and before Nico even registered movement, they were on the other side of her office door.
“You just can’t kidnap Nico.”
This kiss actually had Nico’s lips a tingle, “Yes, I can.”
Nico nodded. Maki laughed. Nico relaxed. Maki magic. Nico wondered what else her fiancée had planned.
###
“Where are we going?” Nico wasn’t familiar with this section of Tokyo. Neither of them spent much time here. This part of Minato-ku was mostly residential, with embassies every couple of blocks. Had Maki set up a surprise party in one?
“Home.”
“Home?”
“Home.”
This was certainly a neighborhood that Maki’s expectations of a house would fit into. What had Maki done?
“You mean, our home?”
“Yeah, my great aunt left me a house in a neighborhood that doesn’t have partnership certificates yet, so my parents and I agreed that I would keep that as a business investment and buy a new house.”
Nico closed her eyes, fidgeting with the engagement ring on her finger. “You bought a house.”
“Yeah. For us.” Maki could be so earnest. “It’s ours, Nico-chan. You can decorate it however you like. There’s a big room in the basement for when Cocoro, Cocoa and Cotorou visit and we pull out the futons. And we can turn the basement bedroom into a recording studio. And there’s a room that will make a great nursery…”
“Nursery?” Nico squeaked. She was planning her first tour of Japan and Maki was talking about...
Maki sounded sheepish, “I haven’t moved in much furniture yet...just the piano and…”
Nico laughed. Of course, Maki had bought a piano first thing. She’d probably been playing it for a week or however long she’d had the house already. Nico wondered if it was the piano from the Nishikino’s music room or a new one.
“Actually, there’ll be a baby grand in the music room and a grand piano in the…”
“Two pianos...does this house have a kitchen or just musical instruments in every room? How many rooms?”
“Of course there’s a kitchen, Nico-chan. Open so when we have....”
“Stop.”
Maki hit the brakes.
“No, Nico meant….” It was too much to be sitting strapped into the bucket seat of Maki’s sports car, trying to explain to an excited and eager Maki why just unilaterally buying a…”Just show Nico this house.”
The car behind them honked angrily.
###
Maki had picked up on Nico’s doubting mood and was nervously driving into the three car garage of a modern building, mostly windows facing the street, dark gray concrete nearly invisible in the night.
Maki turned off the car and pivoted to face Nico, “I…”
Nico could hear the worry in Maki's voice. Time for some Nico magic. She reached out, hands on Maki’s cheeks, making sure that Maki couldn’t turn away. The apprehension rising in those beloved amethyst eyes twinged Nico’s heart in ways nothing else ever had.
“You’re amazing, Maki-chan.” A long kiss that left Maki pressing for more, but Nico held back, “I love you.”
“I love you, Nico-chan.” Maki was confused at Nico’s change of mood, but the power of the kiss had scattered her worries.
“So give Nico the tour of her birthday present.”
Maki’s huge grin was worth Nico squelching (for the moment) all the doubts that had rushed her.
###
They had climbed to the top floor, Maki chatty, full of plans. And Nico stepped onto a gleaming marble floor, in a huge room furnished, with precisely one small area rug, one couch, and a polished grand piano. The kitchen had been tucked into a corner. Windows everywhere. Maki was bouncing, excited. Nico was spinning, overwhelmed. The marble floor was cold and slippy under their house slippers and then Maki slid hers off, pulling a pair of socks out of a basket by the elevator, slipping them over her feet, taking a couple of rapid steps and then she slid across the floor, red hair flying everywhere, laughing madly, bumping the couch and falling into it, her trenchcoat dress twisting around her waist, exposing more leg. It was ridiculous and sexy and silly and so very very Maki. Nico couldn't take her eyes off her wife to be.
“C’mon, Nico-chan. How far can you get?”
A challenge. Maki asked that question with no flirty undertones, while nearly falling out of her dress, lounging playfully across a couch. Nico loved this about Maki, these moments of genuine, in the moment joy, not thinking, acting; living, singing, creating music. And Nico loved when that energy turned sultry. But that was a later tonight thing. Right now, across this gleaming room as big as the apartment Nico grew up in, Maki was sitting up, excited to see what Nico would do next, if she could match her efforts, meet the gauntlet thrown. Now, it was time for Nico’s A game, not to be outdone by a mischievous junior. Maki and Rin had probably had a tournament when Maki decided where to put the piano. But Nico had two decades of kitchen wax sliding practice and was just darn sneaky. Nico grabbed a pair of cute pink socks out of the basket, put a hand on the steel beams of the atrium just in case, was pleasantly surprised to find the floor had some texture, which gave her the confidence to take several running steps through the hall and aim herself past the couch, trusting her sprint speed to give her enough momentum. Sneaky and speedy, keep Maki surprised. Always a good strategy. Nico grinned, waving at an open mouthed Maki as she passed the couch.
“Ha!” Nico slid to a stop before she hit the floor to ceiling window wall and spun, “You have the best ideas, Maki-chan. More ways for Nico to win.”
Maki was hanging over the couch, as happy as Nico had ever seen her, gem eyes aglow with love and mischief. “We’re going to have so much fun, Nico-chan.”
“Tomorrow, for Nico’s birthday, we get a bed.”
Maki blushed, but didn’t look away. “There’s futons in our bedroom suite. I wanted to pick out a bedroom furniture together when you got back from Numazu. And for dinner, there’s sushi upstairs on ice.”
“Upstairs?” Nico was done being overwhelmed and now just wanted a map.
“Roof terrace. Nighttime view of Tokyo. Karaoke system for parties.”
Nico had carefully worked her way back to the couch, “Nico prefers this view.” On her knees, she reached fingers out to caress Maki’s cheeks, slide through silky hair, pull in ever tempting lips for a kiss that would thrill them both. “And you’ll play for Nico tonight, please, Maki-chan? Your piano. In our house.”
Maki’s eyes blazed with all the warmth of hearth and home and huge, caring heart and Nico didn’t care how many rooms there were or how even if her career hit huge heights, she never could have afforded this. All that mattered was this rarest of jewels, the purest of hearts, the woman who had chosen her and wanted this for them.
“I love you, Nico-chan. Happy birthday.”
Nico could get used to presents like this, she realized as she fell into Maki, laughing, all their world just this space they shared now on this couch, Nico holding Maki tight enough to make their own gravity, a party no one else could crash.
A/N: In a restless mood so cued up Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia album and the Coffeeshop Christmas Carol playlist and finished this.

Let’s know the classic wedding production first!
1. Guest participation type production
As the whole venue gets excited, the blessing mood increases at once, so it seems that many couples can enter more than one these days.
“Wedding Tree” to have guests become witnesses of marriage
“Table round” where the bride and groom greet each table at the reception
“Bridesmaid” that makes the wedding more gorgeous
Bridesmaids are women who stand by the bride at a wedding as a bridesmaid (witness).
Matching dresses and hairstyles are often used by unmarried women who are friends, sisters, or relatives, and it is an important role to add flowers to the bride and make the wedding more exciting.
In Japan, bridesmaids have become established as a production in which the bride’s friends dress in matching clothes.
2. Sideshow production
This is a production that guests often do for two people.
A long time ago, karaoke and speeches were the main focus, but nowadays it seems that the number of people who are surprised to play videos and flash mobs is increasing.
In addition, you can sing the school song of your school, write Ague for the bride and groom, and show the instruction manual.
“Bride and Groom Instruction Manual” where colleagues and friends introduce the bride and groom
3. Video production
Recently, profile movies have become a standard production, and according to a survey by Hina, as many as 76.8% of people answered that they did it.
By the way, recently, the number of ceremonial halls where two or more monitors and screens can be installed in the venue to make arrangements that are easy for guests to see and to produce projection mapping is increasing.
4. Decorative production
Recently, posting to SNS, especially Instagram has become popular, and an increasing number of couples are preparing frames and photo boards for Instagram.
In addition to the reception hall, it is becoming more common to decorate the waiting space, restroom, waiting room, etc.
Item “SNS panel” to enjoy photography
Guest waiting room “Welcome Space” before the reception begins
Welcome in a fashionable welcome space! Summary of ideas for graduated flowers
5. Cooking production
As the number of brides and grooms who list food as a key point in choosing a wedding hall is steadily increasing, it may be natural to stick to cooking.
Among them, there seems to be a ceremony hall where you can further raise the expectations of guests for cooking by such a production instead of choosing a dish from a fixed course meal.
“Original cuisine” that includes the birthplace and episodes of the bride and groom
“Chef’s live performance” in the open kitchen and live broadcast
6. Gift-based production
The number of people who are particular about gifts and use “home delivery gifts” that do not have to be taken home has increased considerably.
There are also cases where a surprise present or anniversary plate is prepared for guests who are about to have a birthday or childbirth, or the bride and groom prepare a surprise present for the other party.
A type of gift that will be delivered to the guest’s home at a later date
A gift for home delivery is a type of gift that is not prepared on the day of the wedding and will be delivered to the guest’s home at a later date.
Gifts can be heavy or large depending on the item you choose, and it is difficult for distant guests to take them home or for guests who attend the second party from the wedding ceremony as they are.
In such a case, home delivery gifts are convenient.
Arrangement is easy, just the bride and groom choose the item from the net! In some cases, it is OK to bring in pre-selected items.
You can also give it to your guests.
It is recommended for guests because the burden of carrying gifts is small and the bride and groom have fun choosing.
7. Production of paper items, welcome goods, etc.
Paper items refer to invitations, seating order lists, menu tables, and so on. According to the same survey, 91.4% of the respondents said that the invitation was prepared.
You don’t have to prepare it for a family wedding, but it’s basically a must-have item for a wedding.
Welcome goods are decorations around the reception desk (welcome space) of guests such as welcome boards and welcome bears.
This is the first thing that guests see when they come to the ceremonial hall, so there are many people who are particular about choosing it or making it by hand these days.
“Invitation” to confirm wedding announcement and attendance
“Welcome board” to welcome guests on behalf of two people
Now that you know what kind of wedding production genre you have, let’s take a closer look at the standard wedding productions in line with the general wedding process.
A must-have item for your wedding! Welcome guests with a stylish welcome board
Earlier, I first introduced the genre of wedding production. Here, we will introduce in detail the general flow of an actual wedding ceremony and what kind of standard production is available.
First of all, let’s check the general flow of the day of the wedding ceremony and the standard production according to the time schedule.
Looking at the schedule again, I think I was surprised that the time spent on each was quite tight.
Guests want to cherish the time they spend with the bride and groom. It can be said that it is necessary to keep that in mind when choosing the content and time allocation of the production.
Now, let me introduce the “standard” wedding productions for each scene, including the productions introduced in the schedule.
Classic production at the wedding
Veil down
Veil down is a production in which the mother lowers and sends out the bride’s veil before the wedding.
It is the most popular production for the wedding ceremony, and the result shows that 76.6% of the people performed it.
It expresses the feelings of parents, “We parents have protected you so far, but from today we want you to live a happy life with your loved one.”
Therefore, only the groom, who vowed to love and protect the bride during the wedding, can raise the veil on behalf of her parents.
Original ring pillow
A ring pillow is a thing that keeps a ring until the scene of exchanging the ring at the wedding ceremony. Originally, most of them were square as the name “pillow” suggests, but recently, various decorations and shapes such as three-dimensional ones are increasing.
Ring pillow legend
There is a saying that if you use the ring pillow used at the wedding as the first pillow when two babies are born, the baby will be much happier.
Classic production after the wedding
Flower shower
After the Christian and public ceremonies are over, guests will sprinkle petals on the bride and groom outside the wedding hall or on the virgin road to celebrate.
The scent of flowers purifies the surroundings and protects the bride and groom from demons and disasters.
Fresh flowers or artificial flowers
It depends on the ceremony, whether it can be arranged (or used), but it is best to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of each.
<Characteristics of Fresh flowers >
Fresh flowers have the advantage of being realistic and beautiful in color, giving them a luxurious feel.
<Characteristics of Artificial flowers >
Artificial flowers do not bother you with dirt, and the cost can be kept down, so you can have them throw more. Also, since it is lighter than fresh flowers, it falls slowly, so it will look good in photos.
Bouquet Toss Bouquet Pulls
It is a production in which an unmarried female guest gathers and throws a bouquet from a romantic tradition that a woman who receives a bouquet thrown (tossed) by a flower can become the next bride.
In addition, “Bouquet pulls” is performed when the bouquet cannot be thrown due to the venue (ceiling height and size), or when you want to create a more mature atmosphere.
Most of them are aimed at unmarried women, but there are also people who allow men and children to participate, such as when the number of people is small.
Consideration for guests at Bouquets Pulls
Also, especially in the case of bouquet pulls, because the number of ribbons is fixed, the nominated person often comes out in front, so I felt unpleasant because it seemed that I was single in front of everyone. I often hear people say, so it can be said that consideration is needed.
A classic production before the reception begins
Welcome party
It is done so that guests can enjoy the waiting time before the reception begins. There are no detailed rules, but it seems that it is often done as follows.
Timing to have a welcome party
It is usually done after the wedding and before the reception. (In the case of a reception only, after reception until the reception)
Welcome party time
It seems that it takes 20 to 30 minutes, and it may take up to an hour and a half.
Where to have a welcome party
Depending on the ceremonial hall, it may be held in the welcome space where the reception was held, or in the garden or terrace.

BUDGET VENUES IN KOLKATA
Tumblr media
When it comes to plan an event, our unit provides end to end services which starts from venue selection. When a planning is about to start, this is the foremost concern for every guest to choose a venue according to their location and preference of date. Keeping a moderate budget for every middle class family, we have sorted such venues in Kolkata which can be flexible for every guest and those are all in connected areas. According to their number of heads guests can choose those venues as all of those venues have indoor and outdoor options. In most of the cases guest option out for outdoor venues and while having an open space, those venues require extravagant decoration where we plan everything depending on the guest need.
Asparagus Hospitality arranged these services for every guest keeping the budget in mind.
IMPORTANCE OF HIRING A BUDGET VENUE:
There are a lot of things that go into throwing a successful event, but the two factors that should be on top of your mind are the venue and the budget. Budgeting is always remaining on top of every occasion and this budgeting helps to get your vision clear about the event. And when it comes to organizing any event budget always comes first. Fixing a budget will help you to proceed for your next step and that is about the selection of venues. Once you have got your budget set, you will need to itemize it. With a properly laid out plan, you can figure out where to spend your money to make your guests enjoy your soiree without breaking the bank. A special event encompasses everything from a simple family reunion to wedding gatherings. No matter the size or the complexity of your special event, sticking to a budget is always easy to plan all components and its hidden expenses. Research on the actual cost of each service gives an accurate idea of what the event will cost. This will help you to avoid over spending your budget. If your event is smaller, think about inviting small pax in order to save on service charges. These savings may allow you to expand your budget in decorations or entertainment.
WHAT POINTS SHOULD BE KEPT IN MIND WHILE BOOKING:
Once you have a good understanding of the following things, you are fair enough to start a search for a venue: availability, space requirements, budget and location.
Book a venue once the date is finalized so that you will get enough time to plan about other critical things such as preparing guest list, finding a proper caterer, planning the decorations and also many other things. Nowadays, after selecting a date, everyone’s concern is about getting a proper venue. Hence the following things must be kept in mind before selecting an event venue:
TYPE OF EVENT:
When you are conducting an event, make sure what it is about. Every venue has its own standard and terms. If it’s about wedding then few venues have some conditions that fire or hawan cannot be done over there, where as you can opt that venue for your get together, family functions, social events or any other purpose. Apart from social events, if you have any kind of corporate gatherings or cocktail night then also few venues don’t have the license of liquor arrangements. So this has to be first and foremost option before choosing an appropriate venue.
LOCATION:
Venue’s location is the second most important point to focus on. You may find few venues which are located on the outskirts of the town. They may be well appointed but and also available at great price but before you jump on that booking; think twice about your number of invitees.
 COST:
Before you start your venue search, you need to decide your budget. When your search is specifically for budget venues, you need to be more particular about the steps; somehow you also need to compromise for location, space or a bit of your costing. Also to remember that a low cost venue or budget venues may have hidden costs or you can receive a much more basic service. It very much depends on the type of event you are looking to run.
SPACE SPECIFICATIONS:
Be sure about the space you have selected for your event. Depending on your event and according to your needs you have to select the space. Look for flexibility keeping in mind that you may well want to use the venue for other events in the future.
AMENITIES:
Most of the venues provide basic amenities according to the event to their every client. Always be sure of what you have committed to be given and what you are getting on the day of event. You should also check on your own or ask the venue supervisors to check the venue audio/visual equipments, charging port and free wi-fi. Be ensured about parkings and clean rest rooms. May your venue offer on-site catering service and this can be a boon, when you are booking a venue.
SUMMARY:
These are only a basic guide for hiring a budget venue or a professional event venue. Before you agree to any booking, you should take the time to visit the venue in question, and talk over your plans with the staff and management. You should also check online for customer reviews and testimonials to ensure that the venue you choose is reputable and reliable.

Sibling headcanons for Alec's birthday
- izzy calls alec at like 5am to sing/scream happy birthday over the phone, alec pretends to be annoyed but he can’t help the small smile that creeps on his face as he whispers a ‘thank you’ and 'love you too’ before hanging up- he falls back to sleep instantly only to wake up hours later to arguing in the kitchen and laughs when he pinpoints his sister’s offended voice saying “I don’t see why I can’t help make breakfast” and max laughing when jace says “because we’re not trying to kill alec on his birthday”. his heart melts a little when he hears magnus’ soft voice comforting izzy saying her talents are needed to decorate.- he finally makes his way into the kitchen and izzy spots him first and instantly pulls him into a tight hug while softly saying “happy birthday big brother”. after breakfast they instantly demand for alec to open his presents. - izzy of course goes overboard and has bought him a bunch of new clothes, she also gets him one of those polaroid cameras because she saw alec looking at it when they went shopping once and alec pulls her into a hug because he can’t believe she remembered him saying how he wanted to take more photos of the people he loves.- jace gets him weapons which doesn’t surprise anyone and max gets him some books along with a gift card to alec’s favourite restaurant (izzy may of helped him with that idea). - magnus tells him that he’s taking him to Rome later in the day for a few days and the rest of his presents are waiting there. - seeing as its alec’s birthday, his siblings let him decide what he wants to do instead of insisting that he has a huge party. alec really doesn’t care though as long as he gets to spend it with the people he loves the most so they end up spending the entire day at the hunters moon having a few drinks with some of their friends. catarina pops in on her lunch break to give alec a card and kisses him on the cheek wishing him a happy birthday as she tells him madzie wants to see him at the weekend because she’s drawn a picture for him. luke challenges him to a game of pool and maia tries her best to get alec drunk af (she succeeds) and alec spends the rest of the evening drunkenly rambling about how much he loves everyone. - when magnus portals them to Rome and they spend the rest of their night eating out on the terrace under the stars and heading inside to have a hot bath and cuddle in bed looking through all the polaroids alec took and how happy everyone looks, alec decides it’s the best birthday he’s had in a long time. and why wouldn’t it be? he got to be completely himself surrounded by people he loves and who love him in return. - and when max texts him a video of him helping izzy to her room as she chatters away to the camera “hermano I hope you had the best birthday ever, love you lots and lots okay” and he laughs as she’s gesturing like a kid how much she loves him with her arms while max stares at the camera like he’s on the office. it makes him smile so big though when she’s saying to max “I hope he had the best day, he deserves it, he deserves everything, don’t you think he’s the best person in the world. id kill anyone who tried to hurt him, I would, don’t doubt that I would, I’d do it, I won’t hesitate” and max is trying to calm her down like “I know iz, no one doubts that, now get into bed you’re being overly sappy”. and alec texts izzy with just a simple “I love you too baby sis” and he thanks the angels for blessing him with such incredible siblings

Happy Birthday, Darling (StevexReader)
Happy 4th of July!!!! And Happy 99th Birthday to (my darling?) Steve Rogers💕💕💕 Here's a new oneshot just for today!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ July 4th. Independence Day. The day our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence. And also the day America's "golden boy" was born. You woke up to the sun shining in your eyes. After stretching for a minute, you feel an arm snake around your waist and pull you closer. "Good morning, babe," Steve mumbles as he buries his face in your hair and begins to place kisses on the back of your neck. "Good morning," you reply, turning around to plant a kiss on his lips. "Happy Birthday, Darling." A smile creeps onto his face. "Thanks, doll. What's on the agenda today?" You sigh as you sit up. "You have press and ceremonies all day, while Fury decided to keep me busy with a bunch of meetings and briefings that I would rather eat dirt than go to. I'm sorry we couldn't do something better for your birthday." "At least we have tonight," he reassures. "That's all I need." You smile and grab his hand, bringing it up to your lips. "Be at the tower by 7:30 and we'll go to dinner, okay? I made reservations." "Perfect." He plants a kiss on your lips and walks out of your room to get to his. Making sure he's far enough so he can't hear you, you grab your phone and call Bucky. "Everything set, Barnes?" "It's 11:40, the guests come at 7, Steve gets here at 7:30. Assemble the team." You press a button on your bracelet that signals the team, something you helped build with Tony. Luckily, Steve's was disabled for the day. Soon, Bucky, Sam, Tony, Natasha, Clint, Bruce, Wanda, Pietro, Vision, Scott, Peter, T'Challa, Thor, and Loki file into your room. They all pile on and around your bed as you stand in front of them. "Alright, you guys. Steve's gonna be back at 7:30 so we need all hands on deck for the entire day. You all have tasks, and there are already cars outside for each group. Tony, Scott, and Peter, you three are in charge of getting the fireworks together. It's the 4th of July, so make sure they're unlike any other fireworks being displayed today." Tony rolls his eyes. "I'm Tony Stark, for god's sake. I was born being the best." "Then make sure these fireworks are Stark-level awesome." The three of them nod and run out. "Wanda and Pietro, you're in charge of food. Check in with the chefs and make sure the meal is gonna be amazing." "May I tag along with them?", Vision asks. "I shall enjoy seeing other people cook so I can improve my skills." "Sure, Vis. You three, get going." The twins, along with Vision, race out of the room. "Thor and Loki, you're in charge of the cake." "Why would it take two of us to get a cake?", Loki questions. "I could get it myself without having this oaf in my way." "It's a big cake, and I don't trust just one of you to get it. No offense, but you might do something to it." "Very true." Thor and Loki walk out. "T'Challa and Sam, I'm leaving you guys with the entertainment. The band I booked has to do sound checks, so make sure they're prepared and give them the song list." "But-" "No buts, Sam. You two have to learn to work together. Now go!" T'Challa smirked. "Yes, let us go bird man." He walked out of the room, a grumbling Sam following behind. Only Bucky, Natasha, Clint, and Bruce were left. "The rest of us are gonna go get the decorations and make sure this place looks amazing. Me, Nat, and Bucky will take one car and Clint and Bruce will take the other. I'll text you what you need to get. And since we're the remaining people and technically in the same group, I managed to get us something a little better than regular cars." ----------------------------------- "HOW COME THEY GET A LIMO?" You hear Sam shout as the five of you pile into the two limos you ordered. "MY GROUP, MY RULES," you shout back as your limo starts to move. You, Nat, and Bucky drove all around New York, buying any decorations you liked (which was hard, due to the fact that some places were closed for Independence Day). By the time you got back to the tower, it was 5 and you were tired as hell. Clint and Bruce got back at the same time. "Alright, you guys. I know we're hot and tired and sweaty, but let's get everything decorated so we can go change our clothes." The five of you worked as fast as you can, ensuring that the place looked amazing. There was red, white, and blue everywhere. The tower practically screamed "Star Spangled Man With A Plan." At 6, the decorations were done and your group raced to your rooms. You quickly dawned on a red, white, and blue dress with red heels and a matching red clutch. Your hair was already curled so you just tamed the (many) flyaways and wiped off your makeup, reapplying it so it looked better. You finished getting ready at 6:30. You got a phone call from Sam and quickly picked it up. "Hey Sam, what's up?" "Big problem. The band can't play tonight." You froze. "What? Why not? What the hell happened?" "Their lead singer lost her voice and they don't have a backup," T'Challa replies. You closed your eyes to think for a moment. Then, you got an idea. "What if we do karaoke? And then we'll have F.R.I.D.A.Y. play music when everyone is partying." You hear Sam and T'Challa mumbling something to the band. After a minute, Sam says, "they said they could do it, no problem." You let out a breath. "Thank god. Now get their asses to the tower. The guests are coming in half an hour." "We'll be right there." As soon as you hang up, you get another call from Thor. "Lady Y/N, I'm afraid there's a problem with the cake." "What is it?" "They're giving it to someone else." "What? Why?" "They're claiming it's their cake." You rummage for the receipt in your dresser and snap a picture of it, sending it to Thor. "I just sent you the receipt. Now FIGHT FOR THAT CAKE." You hang up and bury your face in your hands. After a few minutes, Thor texts you a selfie of the cake, Loki, and himself with the caption "WE GOT IT". You couldn't help but laugh out loud. You press the button on your bracelet to assemble the team. In ten minutes, they were all here. "Okay, everyone. It's 6:50. Guests are gonna be here in ten minutes. Is everything ready?" "The band is set up." "The fireworks are prepared." "The cake is downstairs." "The place is decorated." "The food is delicious." You beam. "We did it! Everyone, hands in!" Everyone puts their hands in the middle. "Cap on three!" "One, two, three, CAP!" You all throw your hands in the air. "ALRIGHT PEOPLE! YOU GOT TEN MINUTES TO GET PREPARED. NOW, GO GO GO!" ----------------------------------- The party was in full swing by 7:10. People were laughing and having a good time. You were at the bar nursing a drink, drowning out the crowd. You didn't even hear Jane and Thor come up to you. "Everything alright, Y/N?", Jane asks. You sighed. "I-I'm fine." "No, you're not," Thor says. "What's wrong?" "It's Steve's birthday gift." You quietly tell them what it is. Jane takes your hand. "It's an amazing gift, and you're so fearless giving that to him. Don't be afraid. He'll love it." "Steve is a very lucky man," Thor adds. "You care about him very much. He'd be a fool to give that up." You smile. "Thanks, you guys. You're honestly amaz-" "Y/N!" Bucky runs up to you. "Steve's outside! You need to get into places." You grab a mic from behind the bar. "EVERYONE, PLACES! STEVE'S COMING! F.R.I.D.A.Y., KILL THE LIGHTS." All of the guests find a hiding place and the lights turn off. You walk over to the entrance, waiting for Steve. After a minute, you see him walk up to you. "Hey, doll," he says, giving you a light kiss. "Ready to go?" "Actually, I was thinking we should stay in." "Oh, I thought you were excited about dinner?" "Yea, about that..." The lights turned on instantly and everyone popped out. "SURPRISE!!!!" Steve looked taken aback, but soon had a big smile on his face. "Happy Birthday, Darling!", you squeal. Bucky runs up to the two of you. "Happy Birthday, Punk," he says as he hugs Steve. "This little missy right here planned the whole thing." Steve pulls you into a hug. "I fucking love you, you know that?" "Language, Captain," you reply with a smirk. You could tell Steve was having a blast the entire night. He always loved hanging out with you, Bucky, Sam, and the rest of the team. In fact, everyone was getting along. Sam and T'Challa were rapping the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song for karaoke, Thor and Loki were having an arm wrestling contest while Jane was rolling her eyes at them, Nat and Bruce were flirting (again), Scott was fangirling over Steve, Peter was talking to Tony and Pepper, Clint was joking around with Maria, Bucky and Steve were playing pool, and Wanda and Vision were by the bar as Pietro was making them drinks. Halfway through the night, you managed to grab Steve and take him to the terrace for some alone time. Your heart was pounding. "Is something wrong, Y/N?", he questioned. You took a deep breath and grabbed his hands. "Steve, words can't describe how much you mean to me. Before I met you, I was lost. I didn't know who I was or what I would become. When you stepped into my life, it was like a beacon of light shining down on me. I've loved you even before I knew what love was. And I want to be with you for the rest of my life." You shakily open your clutch and pull out a small box, tossing the purse to the side. Steve's eyes widen as you get down on one knee. You open the box to reveal a silver band. "I know this isn't the traditional way of doing things," you say with a nervous laugh. "But, Steven Grant Rogers, will you marry me?" A smile creeped onto his face as he kneeled down to match your level. "Of course I'll marry you." You started tearing up as you took the ring from the box and placed it on his finger. You set the box down on the ground as he pulled you into a kiss, and you can tell he was tearing up as well. At that moment, the firework display begins. You and Steve stand up and hold onto each other as you gaze at the beautiful sky. Red, white, and blue fireworks light up the night, illuminating the city. Tony, Scott, and Peter really outdid themselves. "Happy 4th of July, Y/N." "Happy Birthday, Darling."

Completely Harmless Ch. 53
Completely Harmless An SSO SilverGlade Re-imagining Story (Or Fix it Fan Salt fic) By Ginny O.
When Lily and her friends wanted to buy horses and were directed to the Silverglade Manor and its myriad of problems, they didn’t expect to start a revolution. They were just a bunch a stable girls. Completely harmless. Right?
A/N: Things are only canon if I say they’re canon. Pre-Saving the Moorland Stables compliant for the most part. Posted in its entirety on my website. Posted in 2000 to 4000 word bits here. Rated T for Swearing Word Count 177,577
Chapter Fifty-Three Getting Crafty with Happy Horse Week Decorations
Lily woke up in a light filled room she didn’t recognize. Linda sat next to her bed in a comfy chair reading the Pandoria Codex.
Lily croaked. “What happened?”
Linda shut the book and helped her sit up. “You fainted.”
“The last thing I remember was Alex closing the rift,” Lily waved a hand. She relaxed back into the pillows.
Linda passed her a glass of diluted grape juice. “You took Alex’s hand, and Alex says you took the power of Pandoria out of her that she’d gotten from the rift. Then you went outside and used the Star Fragment to heal everyone.”
“I don’t think that was precisely me,” Lily said after a few sips of water. “Is everyone okay?”
“Everyone’s fine. Alex is tired. Maya and Justin are fussing over her. She’s not taking it well because she’s Alex. Ms. Drake showed up after you passed out and was promptly arrested. We took down the rest of the wall and there’s enough to backfill both the site up under Hillcrest and the site in Valedale. They’re going to have to pack the one under Hillcrest tight. The Hillcrest mayor and Baron Winterwell are looking to change the style of the buildings going up that the G.E.D. started. The footings are salvageable but a lot of them were damaged during the raid.”
Lily sighed. “All’s well that ends well. Um, where am I?”
“In one of the rooms at the Manor. I think it was Anastasia’s.”
Lily glanced around. “At least it’s not pink.” The room did have a lot of lilac and lavender in it, both in flowers and in colors. The wallpaper had little sprigs of violets on white.
“We couldn’t keep you at the inn. It was too crowded and noisy. You need rest,” Linda adjusted her glasses. “I think you were possessed.”
“Joy,” Lily mumbled and sipped her juice. “She could have asked.”
“It’s possible according to the Codex,” Linda said. “I’ve never seen it before.” She frowned. “But I’ve never seen a lot of things before.”
“Hey, you haven’t been at this that long.” Lily wiggled against the mattress. “I’m tired too.”
“As the hero of the hour, you’re to rest. Tony is going to make you meals and everything.” Linda nodded. “You’ll be back on your feet in no time. It was simply your energy was drained and once you get it back, you’ll be fine.”
“Learned anything interesting?” Lily nodded at the book.
Linda set it aside. “Evergray says that there are portals that open into Pandoria. Not rifts, but more like rips between Pandoria and our world that if we can find them we can go through to Pandoria. But it’s a matter of finding the right rift that leads to the right area to get to Anne, Lisa, and Concorde. They can move around?”
“Huh.”
“Basically, we need a part of Pandoria that has been near where they are in order to find the right rift, or to open the gate in Guardian’s Dale to the right place.” Linda chewed her lip. “Supposedly the druids have multiple stones they’ve hidden around Jorvik to take them places inside Pandoria. But Evergray isn’t sure where. There are clues, I think, in the Codex. But we’re still puzzling them out. They aren’t obvious, like riddles.”
“Because that would be too easy.”
“But we’d need to get the right stone to get to the right place.”
“Elizabeth and Fripp would know,” Lily narrowed her eyes.
“They’re still saying that we need to wait and take our time.”
“They aren’t going to act until something horrible happens. I have this feeling,” Lily sighed and raked her hand through her hair. “Can I get a shower?”
“After you eat something,” Linda stood. “Let me go tell Tony you’re awake and she’ll bring you food.”
“Goodie,” Lily said.
Linda grinned at her and left.
--
Everyone came to visit Lily the few days she was in bed. They reported that because the race track was almost completed, Agnetha had them working on the gardens. All the flowers in those ones, unlike the Folly Terrace Gardens, were horse safe in case they took a yearning to nibble. Lily wasn’t too upset to be missing yet more gardening. Once Lily had her energy back they planned a trip to Jorvik City to go to the party store in order to look for decorations for Happy Horse Week.
“Is it me, but for being a horse loving country, the horse theme stuff is decidedly lacking,” Lily observed as she and Kate wandered around the store.
Kate sighed and rubbed her forehead. “No joke.”
“Okay, Kate, horse theme stuff. Like, what horses love? I guess.”
“You mean like sugar, oats, hay, apples, and carrots?”
“We need something.” Lily wrinkled her nose. “And the colors are what, blue and green with the white stripe and gold harp.”
“The harp on the flag is white.”
“But they’re looking for golden horseshoes.”
“Jorvik doesn’t make sense,” Kate said. “The sooner you accept this, the happier you’ll be.”
“Mints, horses can’t stay away from mints.”
“Let’s break this down,” Kate said. “Okay, we need banners for the stables.”
“And balloons,” Lily said.
“Amelia!” Kate looked around.
“I’m over here!” Amelia said from the end of another aisle, waving.
They hurried to join her.
“Found anything?”
She chewed her lip. “No. Not really.”
“What does the Open House also have for decorations? I mean, we need balloons. You can’t have a birthday party without balloons. And we need banners for the stables.”
“We have banners on poles. They’re currently dark pink with white roses. I think they’re supposed to be for an actual Jorvik Stable event?”
“Dark pink with white roses,” Lily muttered.
Kate blinked. “But you’re the Swans and your colors are Navy and White.”
“I didn’t order them, Cherie.”
Okay, so we need new banners and those might have to be custom ordered.” Lily sighed. “Because I don’t think dark pink and white roses are really going to fit the theme of Happy Horse Week.”
“Right, we need them in the color of Jorvik’s flag, and maybe with a horse head or a horse shoe or a horse head in a horse shoe,” Kate waved her hand.
“Or even make them the flag,” Lily shrugged.
“Okay, let’s start with what we can handle, the balloons,” Kate said and they locked arms and headed to the balloon section.
“What about plain balloons,” Lily said and pointed out the colors they needed.
“Boring!”
“Confetti balloons?”
“Only good if you can shake them otherwise, what’s the point?” Lily asked.
“Ah hah! Marble balloons!” Kate picked them up and waved them about.
“Sold!”
“Okay, garlands,” they moved onto the next section.
“Well, they’ve got triangular banners in all colors of the rainbow, rectangular ones, same,” Lily scanned the shelves. “I don’t think apples really say happy birthday horse country?”
“Not really,” Kate scratched her neck.
Lily glanced down the rows of packaged banners. “Is this Western Theme or English themed?”
“English, definitely English,” Amelia answered.
“That makes it more difficult. Well, it’s not like the cowboy hat garlands are precisely elegant,” Lily waved a hand.
“Oh, we can use black velvet riding helmet.” Kate bounced on her toes. “We can put ribbons on it or something.”
Lily frowned. “So, what you’re saying is that we should use what we’ve already got around the stables but jazz it up a bit?”
“Well, I wouldn’t want to use plastic buckets. But we could get more metal ones. They’re pretty.” Kate nodded. “But that’s not a bad idea.”
“Oh, look, triangular banners and then horse shoes!” Amelia lifted them off the rack. She made a face. “They’re pink though.”
“Girls, we might have to get a bit crafty,” Lily said.
“Good thing we have extra time. Oh, I see triangular banners in Jorvik’s flag colors,” Kate grabbed them and put them in her basket.
“And here are some plain horse shoes, mais, not plain, but gold glitter,” Amelia said.
“So, we’ll have to restring them,” Lily sighed. “Because those banner and horse shoe ones actually look decent.”
“Ah hah, horse garland. Let’s see if they’ve got some bigger horse shoe decorations around, maybe some wooden ones. We can paint, and cover with glitter, then hang these horse garlands off of them.”
They went to the wooden craft section and sure enough they found horseshoes.
“Get some burlap style twine and we can use the holes to hang everything,” Kate said. And went off to get it.
“These ones have hearts.”
“Sounds good to me.”
They rounded up some glitter and acrylic paint both in gold.
“What are we going to use instead of wreathes. I mean, I know horses have wreathes around their neck if they win say, the Kentucky Derby, or something.”
“That’s the wrong circuit,” Amelia said.
“We can’t do the same thing twice.”
“Ribbons?”
They wandered down the paper crafts aisle. There were two horse themed grab bags.
Lily picked them up. “Horse shoes or horse faces?”
“Horse faces are cuter,” Amelia said with a grin.
“Horse faces it is,” Lily dropped them into her basket.
Kate returned with burlap string. “So cute!” She said of the horse grab bags.
“Championship ribbons, where do we get them and can we get them big?”
“Ohhh, good idea,” Kate bounced on her toes. “I’m sure we can find some big ones. We can use small ones and regular ribbons to jazz up the buckets.” Her face lit up. “Oh, look, hobby horses. I used to have so much fun with these as a kid.” She grabbed one, straddled it and ran up and down the aisle.
Lily and Amelia laughed. “Go Kate!”
“To the finish line!”
Kate had to stop running because she was laughing too hard. “We should do something with these.”
“I mean, they might not make bad décor,” Lily said.
“But the kids will steal them.”
“We need to do something for the kids. At least at the Midsummer Beach Party their parents were able to bring beach toys.” Kate put the hobby horse into the basket.
“Maybe we should have some party games? I mean it is supposed to be a birthday party?” Lily wrinkled her nose.
They turned down the vinyl wall art aisle.
“Ah hah! Horses!” Kate stood in front of them and flung out her arms.
“Kate!” Lily laughed and slapped at her.
“Showjumping,” Kate took one down. “Dressage.”
“So we need cross country,” Amelia said. “Or just a horse running basically.”
“Got it, with rider!” Kate said and added it to the basket.
“Party games,” Lily prompted.
“Oh you know, pinatas, pin the tail on the horse, horse shoes but plastic ones, maybe bobbing for apples. I’ve heard of this balloon game that could be pig pen or sheep pen, let them run hobby horse races.” Kate waved her hands.
“Face painting,” Lily said. “We should have face painting.”
Amelia nudged Kate. “You have siblings.”
“Yes, yes, I do,” Kate rolled her eyes. “I also live on a farm and we have farm days.”
“Then how do you jazz up a hay bale?”
“Colored ribbons,” Kate said promptly.
“Oh look, horse lanterns,” Amelia said.
“Yes, continue the lantern theme,” Lily grinned.
Amelia grabbed a package.
“Let’s see if we can find some toy helmets,” Kate said. “We don’t want to use real ones and have them stolen.” She made a face.
“People have been good about that so far.” Lily swung the basket.
“Oops, Championship ribbons,” Kate said and tugged different ones of different sizes off the racks and into the basket.
“Horse masks!” Amelia shouted and put them in the basket.
“Party hats!”
It had polka dots, a championship ribbon decoration and a ruffle on the bottom and a pompom on the top.
Amelia and Lily laughed.
“Those are ridiculous,” Amelia wheezed.
“Oh, people will love them!” Kate put them in the basket. She saw something and clapped her hands. “That’s how we make the big championship ribbons.” She grabbed a couple of the fans. They were circular pleated decorations made of paper. “See, we take blue, green, and white ones of different sizes, layer them, and then we can get some ribbons to hang from them, make something for the middle and big championship ribbon!”
“Works for me.”
“And we can get scrapbook paper and make cones for party favors,” Amelia picked up one and held it out.
“You know, they can look like carrots too,” Kate said as they wandered into the aisle to look for wrappers for their candy cone favors. “If you put something orange in them.”
“Cheetos?”
“Too fluffy.”
“Fish crackers,” Kate grinned. “And tie them off with a green ribbon. Carrots.”
“I was thinking of putting granola in the others.”
“And maybe a selection of mint candies? Or apple candies. Let’s walk through candy.”
“Apples are kind of back to school,” Lily pointed out.
“And carrots are kind of Easter,” Amelia retorted.
“Candy apples,” Kate grinned.
“Halloween,” both Lily and Amelia said together.
“Girls, girls, do you know what can look like hay bales?” Kate asked to divert them.
“Nooo,” Lily said slowly.
“Rice Crispy treats!”
“Oh boy, this is getting sugary.”
“Not our kids, not our problem.”
“We can put out carrot sticks, and apple slices, and you know, little sandwiches in the shape of horse heads.”
“The reason you go to a party is to get sugar high,” Amelia pointed out.
They giggled.
“What about potato sticks, you know those fried crunchy things that aren’t chips or crisps but you know, kind of look like hay.”
“Ohhhh,” Kate said, “Great idea, Lily.”
Lily shrugged. “I’m sure there are apple chips too.”
“Dehydrated apple slices basically.”
There were good mint candies so they bought different ones to put in the cones.
There were black toy helmets in the doll aisle and for a reasonable price.
“Phew, and plastic, I bet we can get some velvet paint and then just decorate them with ribbons and rhinestones,” Kate said as she grabbed a couple.
“That sounds like a good plan,” Lily nodded. “What are we going to do for tables?”
“Picnic check is too western.”
“So are barrels,” Lily wrinkled her nose. “And burlap seems to country.”
“Flag stripe?”
“Might as well,” Lily sighed.
“We have grab bags, we better have something in said grab bags or we’re going to have crying kids,” Kate said.
They headed to the toy section and found both stuffed and plastic toy horses. They also found horse themed rubber ducks.
“Have you ever seen a rubber duck race?”
“A rubber duck race?”
“Dump a bunch of rubber ducks off at the top of the Silversong, mark an end point and the first rubber duck past it wins? Adults like to bet on it, the kids like to watch.”
“That could be fun,” Lily said. “We can try it.”
Kate got some of the rubber ducks.
“How are we going to explain any of this to the others?” Amelia asked.
Lily shrugged. “They’ll just have to deal.”
“Lily is recovering and we’re having fun. You came along because you have the ideas for the Open House,” Kate said. “Besides, I think we’re doing fine.”
“Horse stickers,” Amelia said picking them out.
“A plushie, a plastic toy, a bouncy ball, stickers,” Lily chewed her lip.
“Pencil and a lollipop?”
“Noisemaker and bracelet?”
“Keychain?”
“Horse ear headbands,” Lily picked them off the shelf. “I have now seen it all.” She put them on. “How do I look?”
“Fabulous!” Kate laughed.
Amelia took a picture as Lily posed.
“We are definitely getting those, the kids will love them!” Kate grabbed them.
Amelia chewed her lip. “I don’t think noisemakers are a good idea around horses.”
“A kazoo then?”
“Available and in Jorvik patriotic colors.” Kate said and hefted a package dropping it into the basket.
“I Love Horses bracelets.” Amelia held up a bag of plastic like bracelets printed with the phrase in Jorvik blue, and green with white words.
“Have the benefit of being charmless, so we aren’t mimicking Rainbow Week.” Lily pointed out.
Amelia tossed them into the bag.
“I think we favored out here,” Lily joked.
“The kids will like it, and after the horse ducky race, we can hand those out too.” Kate said.
“I think we’ve got enough. I mean, I’m not sure about the food. In comparison to what we’ve been doing,” Lily chewed her lip again.
“Nah. Moorland is having the huge birthday feast remember? With the big carrot and apple spice cake? All we have to do is put out some snacks to keep the kiddos and their parents going.”
Lily relaxed. “If that’s the case, we should have enough. Just put out a table.”
“Right, table cloth!” Kate said and charged off.
Lily rolled her eyes.
“Found one!” Kate came back with a Jorvik flag stripped table cloth.
“And buckets,” Amelia reminded her.
“Right, buckets,” Kate said and took off again. “Oh, they have little plastic silver ones we can put the potato stix in.” She said and added them to the cart.
“Check out,” Lily grabbed her arm. “Before we buy out the store.”
“We haven’t even started on that yet,” Kate said in a low voice.
“Because we still have to sell these ideas to the other girls,” Amelia rolled her eyes.
“They’ll love it,” Kate said. “Watch, I’ll make up a mini spread of the treats and everything for the meeting and decorate the hall, and we won’t have to sell it. They’ll see it and call it perfect.”
“You are so optimistic,” Lily said.
“You fainted. If we say you picked this stuff out, then they’ll have to go along with it.” Kate grinned.
“We won’t be able to milk that forever,” Lily told her.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know,” Lily bit the inside of her cheek and glanced at Amelia. “Linda thinks I was possessed by Aideen.”
Amelia crossed herself. “Is she an angel or a demon to do such a thing?”
“Alien,” Lily said.
“Weird,” Kate said. “Alien possession.”
Lily shrugged. “I don’t remember.”
“As long as you’re okay, not acting funny, or anything,” Kate said. She stopped Lily and peered into her eyes grabbing her chin.
“I’m fine,” Lily grated out.
“Just making sure!” Kate stuck out her tongue at her.
Lily huffed.
“I shall pray for your sake, it doesn’t happen again. It sounds scary not being in control of your own body.”
“I don’t exactly remember, but yeah,” Lily shivered. “Scary is a good word for it.”
They paid at the register and Lily wrangled out of the girl were they could get custom banners made. Amelia texted her club to find out how big they were on the way to the banner shop.
“At least we’ll be able to reuse them a lot,” Lily muttered. “I mean, they could be used for other festivities if we want.”
Kate nodded.
They talked to the guy who was more than willing to make them flag banners and sell them the poles. It would be a hefty investment. Lily winced and asked for a quote. “Let’s see if the stable owners will buy them,” she said in a low voice.
They thanked the man and told them they’d be in touch soon.
They went to the mall café for lunch. Thankfully, they didn’t run into Anastasia.
FOR THE ACCOMPANYING IMAGES PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE MY WATERMARK AND CONTACT INFORMATION. THANK YOU. I get it. Some of you might get excited and want to see this stuff in the game, especially the clothes, tack, and pets. However, the only way I want to see this in the game is if I get paid for it. If I see it in the game and I’m not paid for it, there will be hell to pay. You think I’m salty. I’d be angry. Personally, I’m not going to send this info to SSO. If you do, leave my contact information there! Don’t give them any excuses to steal.
Now, I’ll know you haven’t read this note if you leave me comments about how ‘salty’ I am about the game and if I hate it so much I should do something else. I am doing something else. It’s called Mystic Riders MMORPG Project. Mystic Riders however is a very baby phase game. You can check out our plans on the game dev blog. (Skills, Factions, Professions, Crafting, Mini-Games, 25+ horse breeds!) If you know anyone who would be interested and has money or contacts about game making, direct them to the blog.
