One of the best ways to make your terrace feel more comfortable and inviting is to create a lounge area. This can be achieved by adding comfortable outdoor furniture, such as a sectional sofa, chaise lounges, or even a hammock. Make sure to add plenty of cushions and throws to make it feel cozy and welcoming.
Hang String Lights
String lights are an inexpensive and easy way to add ambiance to your terrace. Hang them from the ceiling, or use them to create a canopy over your seating area. You can also wrap them around trees or railing to add more light and create a magical ambiance.
Add Plants and Flowers
Adding plants and flowers to your terrace can create a natural and beautiful setting. Use potted plants to decorate the corners of the terrace, or hang baskets of flowers from the ceiling or railing. You can also create a beautiful centerpiece using a large planter filled with colorful flowers.
Set Up a Bar
Setting up a bar on your terrace can be a fun and interactive addition to your birthday party. You can set up a simple bar with a few bottles of wine, beer, and some basic mixers, or you can create a more elaborate bar with a variety of cocktails and garnishes. Don't forget to add some comfortable seating around the bar, so your guests can sit and enjoy their drinks.
Serve Delicious Food
No birthday party is complete without delicious food. You can grill burgers, hot dogs, or kebabs, or serve a variety of finger foods, such as chips and dips, cheese and crackers, or fruit skewers. Make sure to have plenty of napkins and plates on hand, and consider hiring a caterer or food truck to make your party even more special.
Use Colorful Decorations
Adding colorful decorations can make your terrace feel more festive and celebratory. Hang colorful banners, streamers, or balloons from the ceiling or railing. You can also use colorful tablecloths, napkins, and plates to add more color and vibrancy to your party.
Create a Photo Booth
Setting up a photo booth on your terrace can be a fun way to capture memories and create lasting mementos of your birthday party. You can create a simple backdrop using a colorful sheet or fabric, and set up a camera or smartphone on a tripod for your guests to take pictures. Don't forget to add some fun props, such as hats, glasses, and mustaches, to make your photos even more memorable.
Add a Fire Pit
Adding a fire pit to your terrace can create a warm and cozy atmosphere, especially on cooler nights. You can set up a simple fire pit using bricks or stones, or you can purchase a portable fire pit that can be moved around your terrace. Make sure to add plenty of seating around the fire pit, so your guests can enjoy the warmth and conversation.

Broken Hearts. Part 8
Tumblr media
Warnings- Fluff, good time with friends, little smut.
As you stepped through the doors of the fortress, your senses were immediately assaulted by the tantalizing aroma of pizzas.
The scent filled the air, and your stomach grumbled in response to the mouth-watering fragrance. Nick and Andy, standing near the dining table, chuckled.
“Finally! We were starting to think you two got lost.” Nick teased, an amused smile on his face.
Andy chimed in, his voice filled with a hint of pride. “This was all Lloyd's idea.” he revealed, gesturing towards the pizzas and decorations laid out. You looked over at Lloyd, noticing the satisfied glint in his eyes. It dawned on you that his insistence on the spa trip had been a clever cover-up for preparing this surprise party.
A warm wave of gratitude and affection washed over you, touched by the thoughtfulness behind Lloyd's actions.
You smiled at him, silently expressing your thanks for his efforts. Lloyd returned your smile, his eyes filled with a mixture of affection and relief that the surprise had been a success.
Nick couldn't help but give Lloyd a playful jab, a smirk on his face. “We did all the hard work...” he said, shooting a sidelong glance at Lloyd.
Lloyd immediately retorted, feigning offense. “Hey, I helped too!” he protested, a mock pout on his face.
“Sure, if barking orders is called helping, then sure you did help.” Andy smirks.
You kiss both Andy's and Nick's cheeks “Thanks you guys, this is amazing, best party ever!” “Let's get started!!!” Lloyd jumps in.
As the hour passed, the banter continued, and the alcohol started to take its toll on Nick and Andy. Nick slowly started to slur his words, stumbling a bit, while Andy let out loud laughs at everything and anything. Unlike you and Lloyd, you two were perfectly sober.
That’s when you realize your drinks are non-alcoholic, Lloyd just gave you a cheeky smile, with mischievous glint in his eyes.
As Nick and Andy's intoxication became more obvious, you and Lloyd stepped in to help.
You assisted Lloyd in guiding the two stumbling men to their rooms, trying your best to keep them upright. “Come on, guys, time for bed.” Lloyd said firmly, his arm wrapped around Andy's shoulders as he helped him towards his room. You did the same with Nick, attempting to keep him from tripping over his own feet.
As you finished settling Nick and Andy in their rooms, Lloyd discreetly took your hand, gently linking your fingers together.
He led you to the terrace, a soft smile on his face.
As you stepped out onto the terrace, you were greeted by a breath-taking sight.
The expansive space was transformed into a magical haven, adorned with twinkling fairy lights, a comfortable couch bed, and an array of snacks and a bottle of wine.
“Lloyd?” “Welcome to our date” “Date? you never asked…” “I don't ask remember?” “I do and I'm glad, Lloyd this is so beautiful!!!”
You were filled with awe, taking in the enchanting ambiance that Lloyd had carefully prepared.
He led you to the inviting couch bed, motioning for you to sit. As you settled into the comfortable cushions, you looked up at the night sky, dotted with stars. It was serene and intimate, the perfect setting for a romantic moment.
Lloyd handed you a glass of wine, his gaze lingering on yours. “I'm really glad to have you here.” he murmured, his voice husky and filled with genuine affection.
He reached out then, gently brushing his knuckles against your cheek, a gesture both tender and intimate. His touch sent a shiver down your spine, and you couldn't help but lean into it, savoring the moment. “This view... this moment... it's all the more beautiful with you next to me.”
As Lloyd's lips gently pressed against yours, a wave of euphoria washed over you, enveloping you in an absolute state of bliss. Instinctively, you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer, wanting to hold onto this moment as if it were a precious treasure.
The world around you faded into the background as you lost yourself in the intoxicating sensation of his kiss. “I’m glad too.”
Lloyd chuckled, breaking the kiss for a moment. He leaned back a little, his eyes glinting with humor. “You know...” he said, his voice filled with a hint of amusement, “I've been planning this date with you since my first jerk off.” He smirked at his own comment, clearly enjoying your reaction. You couldn't help but burst into laughter, the unexpected remark catching you off guard.
“Liar!” you say, shoving him in playfully, “you were in love with Madison, you said and I quote ‘She smells like coconuts.’”
Lloyd laughed heartily, “Hey, hey,” he protested, still chuckling. “I was young and foolish back then. And hey, she did smell like coconuts!” He feigned defensiveness, attempting to justify his past crush on Madison.
You squeak in surprise, as he leans over and pulls you to sit between his legs, his back leaned against the bed couch. Your back leaned against him. He pulls the blanket up over your legs. “I've always liked the way you smelled though.” he whispers against your ear and the tone of his voice showers your skin in goosebumps. “Like what?” you ask quietly.
Lloyd's lips curled into a soft smile as he inhaled your scent once more, his breath warm against your skin. “Like vanilla and fresh laundry,” he replied, his voice filled with a mixture of tenderness and sincerity. “It's this soothing and intoxicating combination that I can never quite get enough of.” He buried his face into your hair again, nuzzling it gently.
As his hands remained on your waist, nestled underneath the cozy blanket, you could feel his fingers gently squeezing and caressing your skin through the fabric of your clothing. The sensation was soothing and comforting, his grip firm yet affectionate, silently communicating his desire to be closer to you.
A soft chuckle escaped your lips as you rested back against Lloyd, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest beneath you.
“You know...” you began, the words flowing out of you softly, “I had a secret crush on you since school.” You paused, a nostalgic smile playing on your lips. “But I never said anything, because I didn't want to jeopardize our friendship.”
Lloyd's arms tightened around you, his grip becoming a little more possessive at your confession. “You did, huh?” he replied, his voice holding a hint of surprise and amusement. “And here I was, oblivious as ever.” He chuckled again, his fingers tracing circles on your skin. “You could've saved me a lot of heartache if you had told me back then, Sugar.”
You laughed softly, feeling the heat of his breath on your neck. “Well, I always thought you were too busy chasing the popular girls anyway,” you teased, grinning at the memory. “You wouldn't have given me a second glance.”
Lloyd's chest vibrated with a deep, hearty laugh, the sound sending vibrations through your body. “Is that what you think?” he asked, a smirk evident in his voice. “You didn't give me enough credit.” His fingers gently traced up and down your waist, leaving a trail of tingles in their wake. “I definitely would've given you more than a second glance.”
You shivered slightly as you felt his hand slip under your shirt, caressing the bare skin of your waist. His fingers traced feather-like patterns on your skin, igniting a trail of fire in their wake. The sensation of his touch was both soothing and exhilarating, leaving you breathless and wanting more.
While his free hand, continued its exploration, migrating to the waistband of your jeans. He teased the button with his fingertips, gently toying with it.
You hesitated for a moment, gathering your courage before speaking. “You know,” you began, your voice soft, “that night after we kissed, I had the most vivid dream about us.” Your cheeks flushed a soft shade of pink as you continued, the memory still fresh in your mind. “It was so real, like I could feel every touch, every sensation...”
You bite your lip, your breath tripping and coming to a halt, as his left hand is pushing so slowly inside your underwear, his right hand cupping your exposed breast and you are glad for not wearing a bra that day!
Lloyd leaned closer, his lips gently brushing against your ear, causing your heartbeat to quicken.
He took your earlobe between his teeth, softly biting it, before whispering in a low, sultry voice. “Sometimes,” he murmured huskily, his voice low and seductive, “I fantasize about you too.” He nibbled on your earlobe again, his breath hot against your skin, sending shivers down your spine.
He trailed kisses down your neck, his lips leaving a trail of fire along your sensitive skin. “I imagine running my hands all over your body,” he continued, his voice thick with desire. “Claiming you as mine...”
You could feel his breath, ragged and uneven, against your skin as he continued to nibble on your earlobe. “The things I want to do to you...” he murmured, his voice rough with need. His fingers traced the contours of your collarbone, the touch light yet possessive, before going back under your shirt, caressing your breast.”
His thumb easy glides over your clit, “how good I bet you'd take me.”
His touch was both gentle and insistent, as if he wanted to claim every inch of you. He moved slowly, his fingers exploring your cunt, causing you to arch your back in response. His touch was like fire against your skin, igniting a blaze of sensation that spread throughout your body.
You circle your hips and feel his cock growing rock hard. You moan breathily as his finger makes a slow circle over you.
He groans, his fingers, already so slick with your wetness, move in deeper. Working three fingers inside of you, the stretch he provides to soothe the ache inside your pussy, makes you so delirious.
The wet pump of his fingers in and out of your cunt, his thumb over your clit, has turned your brain into a mess.
At the beginning he was fingering you to explore you, but now with the confessions out in the open, he has found a purpose. His mouth hot against your neck, one hand cupped around your breast, pinching your nipple between his thumb and finger a perfect combination of pleasure and pain.
“I like you, always had, maybe more than like you…” he finally confesses. Lloyd pushes his fingers in roughly, to emphasize his confession and you bite your lip to stifle the moan, threatening to escape.
Abruptly he pulls out his fingers and brings his hand up to his mouth. The depth of his groan, makes you shiver, as he devours your taste.
He removes his right hand from underneath your shirt, but his left goes back to your clit, working over you, all over again. “I know I call you Sugar” he says forehead resting against your shoulder “You taste more sweet than sugar itself.”
He pushes you forward slightly, as he works on his own hardness. The new and steady rhythm of Lloyd's hand working up and down over his length is fast and rough almost desperate.
He's so desperately focused, now that he's touched and tasted you, he couldn't resist the urge to come, even if his life depended on it.
You feel his knuckles as they move, the brush of the plump head of his dick, covered in slippery precum. Secondly, you'll never know whether it's from the way your breathing has changed or if it's the fact that you can't sit still anymore, you're biting your lip to keep from moaning loudly.
Lloyd knows you're close, the same way that you know he is too. “I want to touch you…please” you beg and whine. Each move of his fingers pushes you closer to the edge. “Soon,” he promises, breathing harder, as both of you are so close.
“Come for me, Sugar…” he pants and who are you to deny him? You moan his name, trying and failing to contain the sounds of intense pleasure, that are pushing their way out of your throat. It's strong enough to steal your vision, to pull you under into an abyss of endless pleasure.
He doesn't care about the aftershocks he causes, as he pushes his thick fingers, as deep as he can inside you. And there's no use trying to mask the strangled sob that escapes, your whole body shaking like you've been trying to hold for too long.
“You're...ah fuck, I’m gonna come.” he growls, making sure to keep his fingers buried inside you.
You feel his cum shoot hot against your spine, it's enough to make you nearly blackout. He grinds his dick against your back, pumping cum out of his cock against your skin with each thrust. He works himself through his orgasm, making him hiss with delight.
It was the most incredible feeling you had ever experienced. Lloyd's touch was like electricity, igniting every nerve in your body and bringing you to the brink of ecstasy.
You were lost in the sensations, overwhelmed by the intensity of his touch. It was the most glorious, dizzying moment of your life.
After catching his breath, Lloyd leans back a little, and pulls his shirt off, using it to clean you up, before tossing it aside on the floor.
He tilts your face back, to look at him and you can just barely make out his expression from the glow of the lights he doesn't say anything, instead he just looks at you, making sure that you're ok. You move your head slightly, admiring the fairy lights bouncing across his vulnerable face.

The Scola Wedding: Stuart Scola x Reader

Companion piece to Tonight

Stuart pulls out all the stops.
That’s the benefit of having money, it has a tendency to expedite things.
That’s something he has to talk to you about because you actually have no idea how wealthy the two of you are. He’d been planning to discuss it when it came to setting the budget but that had gone straight out of the window when you’d decided to move the wedding up.
When you leave for work that morning, he kisses you until your breathless, his fingers tangling in your hair.
“Leave it to me, I’ll take care of everything.” He whispers against your lips. You’d be happy to get married at the courthouse, but Stuart wants to make it special for you. He wants the romance, the magic, everything he feels when he’s with you. “I’ll text you where and when.”
It’s early afternoon when you get the message, you’re in the middle of completing your after-action report when your phone chimes with a message.
“Botanical Gardens, 7pm.”
You’re late.
During a raid, someone in one of the cover teams finds a batch of TATP that some idiot’s been cooking up in his bathroom, and due to the unstable nature of the explosive, you’re called on site to advise. It ends in a small explosion, nothing too dangerous but by the time you’re on route, there’s dirt smeared across your face and plaster in your hair.
You get changed in the back of your boss’s car, shrugging into the emerald, green dress that you wore the first night Stuart took you out dancing. There’s no time for hair and makeup, you tug the hair tie out and let it fall where it falls. It isn’t until you’re getting out of the car that you realise that you’ve forgotten your shoes. You end up walking down the aisle in green silk and black combat boots.
When you step onto the garden terrace where the ceremony is being held, the breath rushes out of you because the place is absolutely stunning. The sun is just setting as your feet hit the paving stones. The plush greenery offsets the strings of Edison bulbs that emit warm light across the courtyard. The flowers that decorate the aisle are all in fall colours, beautiful pops of red, orange and gold guiding the way.
Tiffany greets you as the music starts up presses an artisanal bouquet of flowers into your hand.
“Be good to him, ok?” She says quietly as she meets your gaze, and you smile because Stuart has no idea how lucky he is with his choice of partner.
“Always.” You promise.
When Stuart looks up and sees you, he can’t help but smile because you walking up the aisle in that dress and those combat boots, it’s exactly who you are and he wouldn’t change that for a minute. He doesn’t remember much about the ceremony, just the look in your eyes and that feeling in his chest as he recites his vows. In that moment it feels like everything is right in his world, like he’s in the exact place he’s meant to be. He hasn’t felt like that in a long time.
The party goes on long into the night, friends and family who couldn’t make it to the ceremony turn up to congratulate you. It’s a merging of your law enforcement families, the FBI and ATF.
You’re still on the dancefloor as the party begins to wind down, Stuart’s cheek pressed against your own as you sway together slowly.
There’s never been a moment more perfect than this.
It’s the best night of Stuart’s life.

Chapter 6 : Invitation
Tumblr media
Stephen swung the car around and accelerated. He had hit sixty before making it around the corner, too anxious to be careful about the speed limits, his foot refusing to let go of the pedal.
The tyres screeched when he tried hitting a sharp left to the dirt road - He could see Tony moving about and removing the decorations. That seemed odd. As he neared the house, he could see the whole place was deserted.
"Out of all the days," Stark approached him with a grim face as he pulled over, "this had to happen on my favourite day?"
Over the years as vampires, Tony had particularly grown fond of Halloween. He called it a day when he could actually breathe, the only evening when he could walk around people in his Iron Man suits, claiming he was Iron man for Halloween. The whole thing of laying low had been unquestionably humdrum existence for him.
"Thor got one on one with that thing. The witch says he's under some spell. Might need your help."
"Oh, no," he muttered to himself, he wanted to go to Y/N. But he nodded and went in.
Wanda was lying, eyes closed, on the recliner with an ice pack held to her head. Don't you dare to laugh. She warned him in her thoughts. The two barely spoke to each other aloud; their minds did the conversation perfectly. It had all started as a practice to strengthen their communication skills when he was far away from the rest of them and she needed his help, but eventually, it had turned into a habit. You have no idea how draining it is to enchant a group of enthusiastic partiers and send them home. I can't ease Thor's suffering. Too burdened with my own.
Don't worry about him. I have got him. Stephen replied, gliding over the stairs towards his room.
Thor was having violent convulsions like a dying man. Jane and Pepper were standing beside him, with sad-stricken faces.
"He's gonna be alright," he assured them after examining Thor who began to relax and drift among old memories as the spells began to undone. It was a bit difficult but after a few trials and errors, Stephen could finally break through the spells. The use of multiple spells indicated that the threat must be a witch, a skin-walker perhaps but the random killings didn't make any sense.
"Couldn't find anyone," Peter announced, landing on the terrace outside. Morgan followed him to the room.
"Is he okay now?" she inquired.
Stephen nodded. "You found him?" he asked, looking up at her.
She shook her head. "Uncle Vis did."
Just then Vision appeared, with a gentle thud, announcing his arrival on the same spot where the kids had been a few seconds ago.
He slightly shook his head at Peter then turned his attention towards Thor.
"Minutes after you left after that call, Thor said he saw someone uninvited near the woods. We went in opposite directions to search. Nothing caught my attention within the three-mile radius. When I came back he hadn't returned, so went to search for him. Found him near Chief Henley's residence. Whatever had attacked him was gone. Brought him back home and asked Mr. Stark to cancel the party."
"Vis." Wanda hissed from behind. Apparently she and Tony had joined them sometime during Paul's monologue. "We had talked about this. Not the old names. You might slip it out in front of strangers." It had been years yet the fear of revealing their identities by mistake still lurked around. It had been one of the many reasons why they retained a part of their original names in the fake IDs Tony created every now and then.
"Sorry. An old habit," he apologised.
"We should let him rest," Stephen said and the rest of them wooshed out of the room.
Thor let out a small groan. Mystic arts or magic, to be broad, was one of the few things that could render a vampire helpless. "Thank you," Stephen whispered, getting up to leave.
It was nothing. You would have done that same for Jane if you could. I knew how it felt to see the one you imprinted on, suffer from pain. Check on her, brother.
The drive to the Henley's residence was agonisingly slow. After Steve's call, his anxiety had increased by ten folds. His mind remapped the scenes from the twilight to the night – the creature first hunted the two strangers in the car and an hour later was spotted near our house. It attacked Y/N as a hound, tortured Thor when he tried to save her then again attacked their house as a giant lizard, which also happened to be the one that frighten the neighbour. It didn't seem like a pure-blood Chupacabra, Sigbin, or Skin-walker; but a hybrid between any two of the three.
He pulled over, only to receive unfathomable expressions of not – welcomed from Jade and Rachael. Jade was dragging the crashed tree away from the driveway and Rachael was cleaning up the mess around. He felt his heart skip a beat when he couldn't see her anywhere around. Was she that hurt?
"Why are you here?" Rachael snarled, blocking his way to the house. It had been years she had been with Jade and there was one rule he always begged her to not to break - Never be around a wolf on a full moon night or a vampire during a new moon.
"You know why."
I won't let you anywhere near my sister, her thoughts screamed as she continued to glaring at him. "You imprinted on her. And I won't allow you near her on a new moon night." She had broken the rule once. She had made the mistake of being in Jade's vicinity when he had been high on heat on estrus full moon night. And the consequences were painful as he had lost his control.
Stephen had to forcibly knock off his mind. Over the years, feeling what others felt or thought, had become an unconscious habit, but there were things he didn't like to see when not necessary. "I'm not naive like Jade. I won't ever hurt Y/N." He knew the dangers better than any of them and felt fully under control.
"Are you sure you won't give up on your desires?" Jade scoffed.
He huffed at their less substantial concerns- Y/N was the next potential victim of this creature and all these two were concerned about was whether I had control over what I was.
"Dr. Rochester?"
Y/N stood there by the door, scared as Rachael shot her a glare. Is he startled again? Her thoughts wandered around the mess he had made three evenings ago in the cafe.
"Hello there, Y/N," Stephen said, walking in her direction. Relief had never been as exquisite as it felt at the moment.
"Hi," she finally managed to say after contemplating her sister's infuriated face. "Come in."
He cursed at the invitation. She needed to be careful about whom she invited in. He had to teach her many things. But how hadn't Rachael taught her the basic lessons if she didn't want him to be around her sister?

Kisses under the mistletoe
@technodromes sent: 💗 : my muse mentions that they want to be kissed under a mistletoe (for Bishop & SR)
Tumblr media
Holidays were always a weird time for Rick. His family had never really celebrated them outside the religious aspect, something he had never cared about. He had celebrated his fist, "real" Christmas with Diane and her parents, in his late teen years, back in a time that now felt like it belonged to another life. They had kept up the tradition during their marriage and she had always invited him over even after they had divorced.
All in all, he had some good memories linked to the day, but he also had quite a few that weren't as pleasant. The first year he had spent it at Beth's, they had reconnected was just one example. He still marvelled that Nora hadn't ended up literally kicking him out, considering what fight had broken out between the two of them. At least Summer had loved her present.
Then there had been the odd years he had chosen to spend Christmas on the Citadel, to make sure that AR did more than just getting drunk and throwing around lewd holiday-related insults until he managed to start a brawl. His best friend always insisted on getting wasted, and he had gotten the guard intoxicated too more than once, but at least no fighting had ever been involved.
Also, he had to admit that, since the election of their new president, the Citadel had always looked great during that time of the year, with all the lights and decoration and the massive tree set up in the middle of the main square. The view from the top of the highest buildings was beautiful and it almost made him feel like the city-state could be a great place to live.
Those last two things were the reason why he had decided to man up and invite Bishop over to this relatively calm but still fun party AR had roped him into joining. Deep down, Rick suspected that it was mostly a ploy to keep him busy, so that he wouldn't be there to stop him from doing whatever he had planned for a certain Commander they both knew.
The thought almost caused SR to sigh, but he held the urge back, choosing instead to focus his attention back on his friend. He had been scheming a little too, so he couldn't really judge the black market dealer as much as he usually did. Not without sounding like a hypocrite, at least.
Tumblr media
"I-I hope all this isn't too confusing for you," he spoke up, after having swallowed a mouthful of the liquor he had been sipping. He wasn't planning on getting drunk, but he had figured that he could use a dose of liquid courage. "M-Most of the shit you see is stuff from Earth, b-but apparently someone had the bright idea t-to mix it up with alien traditions and...I-I won't lie. I-I have no idea of what that is supposed to be."
He pointed with his thumb an oddly shaped...something that had been put in one of the corners of the terrace. His guess was that it was some sort of decoration, with how brightly it was shining, but it was also made of what had felt like solid good when he had got to poke at it. Plus, there was a Santa hat casually tossed on top of it, which only furthered the confusion.
"B-But I hope that you...w-well, that you like the place. U-Usually the Citadel is never festive, s-so...I thought that you should see it like this too."
What he didn't say was that he was hoping that this would allure the Utrom to spend more of the holidays with him. He did have a guest room in his flat, even if that was another thing he hadn't mentioned yet.
"An-And speaking of traditions, t-there's a funny one I should tell you about..."
His voice trailed off and he gulped quietly, resisting the temptation of downing the rest of the contents of his glass. He knew that he couldn't have managed to be smooth about this, but he wanted at least not to show how nervous he was.
Tumblr media
"Y-You see that plant up there? T-The, uh, mistletoe?" He made himself go on, nodding towards the bunch of white berries and green leaves that was hanging from one of the light wires. There were a few sprinkled here and there, just waiting to catch two unaware people underneath them.
"B-Back on Earth, i-if you and someone else end up under it at the same y-you're supposed to...to kiss. I-It's considered a well-liked romantic clichéd."
He wasn't sounding to lame, right? Or, even worse, too desperate?
"I-I did it once. T-The, uh, under the mistletoe kiss, I mean. B-Back when Diane, my ex-wife, and I were still dating. W-We were at this party our college had organised an-and she tricked me so she could catch underneath one of those things. I-I was embarrassed as hell, b-but...it's a nice memory."
Clearing his throat, he allowed himself another sip of liquor as a reward for having gotten this far without running away, before forcing himself to stare right at Bishop as he spoke the next, crucial words.
"I-I've been thinking...I-It would be nice to do it again. W-With the right person, i-if they wanted to try it out." He could do it, just one more sentence. "An-And since you like learning about Earth stuff, I-I thought that we could...you know. K-Kill two birds with one stone maybe?"

Day 6 @flufftober "Fairy Lights"
Pairing; Natasha Romanoff x Brock Rumlow
Warnings: mentions of sex.
Continues the days 2 and 3. A longer one.
The birthday party of Brock's mother would be held in the garden and Holly had paid a catering firm to do all the work. But as they were short of staff, Natasha and Brock helped them move tables and chairs.
"I'm sorry, I wanted to do some other things with you instead of moving furniture", he apologised. "Like what?", she asked cheekily "No problem, really. We're here for this party, aren't we?"
Rumlow was glad that she took it so well. He watched her taking the wheel and commanded the staff from here to there and starting to fix the decorations. She blew some streamers at him and smiled. "What are you doing?", he asked. "Making a handsome man even more handsome." Overwhelmed, he cupped her face and kissed her. Clearly, something was happening between them and the feelings were let loose.
"You are…", he started but the words ran empty. "Yeah, you too", she said and went on throwing the colourful streams over some branches. In the end, the garden looked wonderful. He installed some solar lights that would lighten up when it was going dark. She stood in the middle of the location, her hand under her chin. "Can we drive to the next hardware store? I have some ideas." "But it looks good, what do we need?" "Trust me."
So they drove to a store and she bought fairylights that she hid in the hedges. Furthermore they installed some swimming lights on the pond. She changed some details and added more decoration until the garden looked like right out of a fairy tale.
"Where did you learn all this?" "I'm…", she hesitated. She didn't want to spoil Clints secrets but she had the need to be honest with him "I am an auntie of three wonderful kids and I did this for their birthdays so far." Brocks gaze went soft for he knew she was opening up to him.
"Do you think your mother will like it?" Natasha asked. "If you can find an unicorn, she'll marry you right away", he laughed.
They'd sent Holly away for the day so they could plan the party. She wouldn't be home until 7 pm.
So Brock and Natasha ate some cereal on the terrace, had long and intense sex and fell asleep afterwards.
Natasha woke up eventually, watching the relaxed face of her sleeping lover. When sleeping, people always looked so young and innocent. So did he. Carefully, she skimmed a finger trough his beard, drew down his jawline. With a smile, he woke up. "Hey beautiful, what time is it?" "I don't know, I got carried away", she answered but reached for her phone. "Damn…6:30!"
Together they had a shower that almost got out of hand again. With a laugh, she eventually slipped out of the shower before he could get hold on her and went on to take her dress on.
She wore a shirt black petticoat dress with white darts, he changed into a suit, but without a jacket for it was warm enough.
She fixed his tie and kissed him: "You look different." "I feel different."
Punctually, Holly opened the front door and was awaited by her son and his girlfriend.
"Look at you!", she sighed and cuddled the both of them. "I'll better get changed, the first guests are on their way!"
And she was right. So Natasha and Brock opened the door for the guests and he introduced her to everyone. It were almost 40 people who were chatting and drinking.
He brought her a glass of champagne as she was speaking to the DJ about the music. She took out her phone and let the DJ take a photo of them while Brock was kissing her cheek and she smiled and held the champagne flute. She looked at the picture. "God, I want to sent it to Clint", she confessed. "Do it, then", Brock answered. "If I do this, the evening will be ruined for he would call and call and steal a Quinjet to search for me and kill you." He laughed: "Maybe you're right."
Holly entered the garden and greeted everyone. And opened the buffet.
The party was easy going, everything was fine and everyone was having fun. Natasha was welcomed with open arms. She wasn't used to so many kind strangers but it felt good.
After the meal, the DJ sat up some 60/70 songs. Some of the couples were starting to dance. Natasha and Brock sat on their table and watched Holly dance with someone who she identified as the postman. "Does she have a partner?" He shrugged: "She's like a butterfly, I think she might have a few admirer."
"Do you dance?", she drank up her glass. "With a ballerina on my side? How could I say no?" "You know?", she looked at him. "I've seen you practice your steps. And I think it's amazing."
They danced to Dream Lover to get a feeling. Followed by some other old songs and they had fun. Holly demanded a dance with her son and so Nat was stuck with a postman who couldn't be happier.
The first tones from "Something stupid" filled the air. "Go on… you'll have him!" Holly laid Natashas hand onto Brocks who looked slightly embarrassed. "She's the devil", Natasha hissed as she nestled against him. She felt him chuckle and placed a kiss on her parting.
"Well have to do the Unchained Melody too, you know?", he whispered in her ear "I don't care. Just have a look." He looked up. It was getting dark and all the lights dove the garden in a magical light. They stopped and had a look. "Wow, you are a fairy." "I've got called many many names. This is new."
It was finally a few minutes to midnight and all guests got a glass of champagne.
"I have no present for your mother", she claimed "Dear, you are her present. You don't know how she wanted me to be happy like this." "And you are happy?" "Beyond words." The look in his eyes confirmed his words. As she lent in for a kiss, Holly raised her voice.
"Thank you all for coming! And a very special thanks to Natasha, Brocks girlfriend, who had the idea to illuminate everything. You are a treasure, dear." Holly embraced Natasha the second time that day. She was used to it now. A few guests applauded. Brock raised his voice: "Alright, to my beloved mother. 70 years aren't enough for her mischief and her cheesy books. May another 70 follow! 3-2-1 - happy birthday, mom! I love you!"
Natasha turned a from the croud, stopped at the pond. Brock came up to her, with a plate and two slices of the cake.
"Everything alright?", he asked in a soft voice. "Yes. There is just so much love. I'm not used to it." She sometimes felt this way too, when she was with the Bartons.
Brock embraced her from behind, holding her tight, saying nothing. He could feel her tension lowering.
"I care for you. I really do. And believe me, I've never thought that that would happen. But now; it is like that. The last few hours were the best of my life." "Same." They shared a look and kissed. "Cake?", he asked to cover up the romancing "Yes please!" So they ate the cake by the pond, simply sitting on the grass.
The party was still ongoing and the music got a little more modern. So they danced again.
As they sat on a table again, she put her hand on his. "Thank you. For everything. Bringing me here. Pulling me out of my comfort zone."
"I think it's clear that we've crossed a line." He nodded "And what are we doing with this recognition?" "I'm not sure where this will be going. But it's good. Feels good. Like a part of me that was missing is back. And I'm tired of hiding. What about you?" "I never thought I could find someone that matches with me. But obviously, you do. And it's more than lust. Also obviously", Brock smiled and looked into her eyes. "I'm a spy, I noticed", Natasha also smiled. "So, are we a couple now?" "No more hiding? Hell yes!"
"Then let's sent this photo to Barton", Brock said. She laughed and made the picture appear on the screen. With flying fingers she wrote: "I think, I might be in love with Brock Rumlow.", and clicked on Clints name. And sent it.
It was in the middle of the night but he answered right away.
"Has he taken you hostage!? Is it Stockholm's syndrome?" And another one "You'll tell me everything when you get back here!"
It was late and she was yawning, as she put some plates together. "Come on. The catering service will do this tomorrow. Why are we paying them?", Brock said and took the plates out of her hands. "Maybe you're right." "Sometimes, I am."
"Sooooo… Mister Boyfriend, are we going to bed now?" "Yes, Missus Girlfriend, I think, we do." He picked her up bridal style and carried her trough the garden.

16th January 2023, 6.40pm
*about the days after Christmas and before the new year, as defined in the previous entry
31st December 2022 —
I ran to the train station to get to Padua. I forgot the times of home, how long busses take to go places, how far walking takes me, so I missed the tram and I put on my headphones and I walked for a while to get to the station, just in time to get a ticket at the machine and jump on the train with Ma.
She’s always late too, so in a way we were late together, which in turn made us a bit more on time because we were not alone in being late.
I was wearing a dark brown cardigan with a white t-shirt and black straight-legged jeans; my clothes for New Year’s were in my bag, next to two bottles of prosecco. I like the idea of being the one who brings some prosecco to parties, and I find it delicious when it’s actually good. A family friend, a friend of my mother’s, has a winery, and he makes a batch per year just to gift his friends and sell at farmer’s markets. It must not be too profitable, but the wine is sweet and fresh, light and bubbly.
When we arrived in Padua, we bought some ice. It’s unusual, but I had offered to bring some and apparently you can buy it in supermarkets. I got three bags. V. texted he got three too. And so we went at Cl.’s, where we would sleep, and I got changed into a lace shirt I bought second hand and some leather pants I stole from my mother’s closet - I did not like how they fit, but it was the best I could do; they are too big around the waste, and there’s too much excess fabric around the hips, which makes me look bigger than I want to appear. Regards of that, I still liked how I looked. I put on some silver eye shadow and some glitter. The idea was some kind of glam rock look. 90s does 70s.
The party was a few houses over, at G.’s place. My friends from Padova are all very well off, living in the center in big apartments. Hers was huge, it must have been two apartments connected. The living room’s ceiling was beautiful, decorated with a tasteful trim which must’ve been there for more than half a decade. The walls of the room where lined with bookshelves: a vast collection of colorful Adelphi, some hardback Einaudi, an encyclopedia.
During the night I had fun. I spent time between the living room, the terrace and the second living room. The first was where we put together a small bar, setting up the bottles and the ice and the glasses on a table, and where we turned off the chandelier lights in favor of some colorful ones to danced under. The terrace was for smoking, but smoking at parties is not only a vice, but also a way to socialize, so sometimes I stepped outside just to chat away from the dancefloor. In the last room, we ate food. Some people brought food, there was anything I could have thought of: some torte salate, charcuterie, vegetables and hummus dips, lenticchie, pizza, and other stuff I cannot remember. The lenticchie made me happy, because lentils are usually eaten at new year’s in sign of good luck, but that is not a tradition my family has. My family has no traditions, and participating in them with my friends makes me unbelievably happy.
I talked a lot with B. She’s studying in Paris. I talked a lot with Cl.M. too. She left her university and I did not know. She was studying in Ireland, but she said life abroad just was not for her, and so she decided to come back to Italy.
1st January 2023 —
At one point, a bit after midnight, I really felt happy. Simply happy. Maybe it was the gin or maybe the prosecco or maybe I was truly happy or maybe I was happy both because of everything around me and because of the drinks.
I even felt hopeful. Being there with all those people, feeling their warmth again, hearing that most of them are doing good and that those who aren’t probably soon will do well. I looked up while everyone was singing and dancing and laughing and I felt grateful. It happens once or twice a year.
I almost did not think of M. He’s usually a constant thought in my head. I thought that I did not think about him, that I was okay not being with him tonight, and then I realize that in thinking that I had thought of him.
We went home at something past three. V. and I stayed out a bit more to walk G. home. I ended up in some mattress on the floor, and I woke up again at nine.
My friends always make fun of the fact I wake up early after parties, clean up a bit and leave at six or seven. This time I decided to stay, because usually I just happen to be in a rush: usually I have to go somewhere else, and I want to pass home to wash up and get ready for the day.
I had nothing to do on the first of the year, besides going at my grandma’s or at my father’s, so I stayed there and we ate panettone for breakfast.
2nd January 2023 —
The day after I went to Padova again, after lunch, to meet Y.
We had not seen each other in months, because when I went back home to vote we did not manage to hang out.
3rd January 2023 —
And then I went to Florence, Firenze, with my father and sister. We woke up early and he came to pick us up with his car to go catch a train. I read A Room of One’s Own in silence for some hours, sitting alone.
I think my father needs to stop trying like this. We certainly did a lot, but he really does not understand how to act. He does not get that being nice, being a father, does not mean simply spending money, or passively spending time with us. He does not try hard enough and he tries too hard at the same time: he just doesn’t try to do what we need him to do and he does what he thinks should fix things. He thinks this is all a punishments for him. He thinks the way my sister reacts to him is a court sentence to be served, and he thinks this sentence should have been shorter than it is.
Florence is absolutely stunning. Ivory and dark green and tall. Piazza Duomo left me breathless, completely enamored with the architecture that filled up the view completely. I went up the Campanile di Giotto, a poor lady in front of me slowed everyone down because she was panting and sweating, but the view on top was incredible. All the brown roofs, all the monuments, all the churches were visible. I took off my jacket, it was not cold at all. My father took a picture of me that made me want to die. It happens sometimes: someone shoots me with a lens and I feel like I’ve been shot at the heart. I should not be this dramatic, but some pictures make me want to rip off my skin and teeth and hair.
Inside, the basilica is quite empty, but we visited the foundations and I was mesmerized by how many times the building had been rebuilt. There were some mosaics of North African craftsmanship. Some things were just stones, but the thought they held up a whole church once made them special.
Lunch was disastrous. After that we went to Piazza della Signoria, where there are a copy of the David and other beautiful statues. Some were Roman copies of Greek originals. Things that old being so intact make me feel so insignificant, but also so peaceful. The bronze Perseus holding Medusa’s head stood tall above me as I looked at it, but my favorite might have been that of the Lion, with the inscription “Opus Flaminii vaccæ Romani” between its legs.
We also visited a temporary exhibit by Gucci, on which I have mixed feelings on. I think clothing is art. Fashion, couture, dresses can be just as impactful as a painting or a fresco. But this was not a clothes exhibit, like a YSL one I visited in Paris. It was some sort of immersive art that felt like a huge ad. It was clear that the point of it all was creating a space where people could take pictures, to then post them on social media and give exposure to the brand and the place.
Before going home, we stopped at Paszkowski, a fancy bar where I got a deconstructed martini that tasted too much like gin.
5th January 2023 —
I went ice skating in Venice with Ma.F. and her friends. I knew none of them, but they were nice.
I did really miss M., though. We were seven, so I was left alone sometimes and I skated on the ice smoothly, dodging children and wishing I could hold his hand.
We had an aperitivo afterwards, but I had to leave earlier, because my father arranged for my sister and I to meet his girlfriend, or mistress, or whatever she is that is shorter than “the woman he cheated on my mother with”.
She’s short, a fake blonde with impeccable make up on and an accent from the country side she tries to mask. I ordered a moscow mule and she said she should have gotten one too. I tried being nice. She tried too, I think, but every time I looked at her and at my father I only saw the rot in them. Even when she faked being interested in my sister and me, what we were doing, what we liked, she stumbled on her niceness a few times, betraying some prejudice on gender norms and other bigotry. I ordered an americano, and she left, and I wanted to leave too because I wanted to go home and call M. to watch a movie. My father insisted I stayed. I ordered a third drink, a cosmopolitan, and I told myself I needed to stop.
Afterwards, my father basically kidnapped me. My sister managed to escape, he let her go home, but I had to go to his apartment with the excuse that I needed to fix his phone.
9th January 2023 —
Plane. Maastricht. I arrived at my apartment at 11pm.

Ectoplasmic Estates in Atlanta
Metropolitan Atlanta, the capital of the American Southeast and one of hte country's most important cities, contains half of Georgia's population. Despite this, Atlanta is sparsely haunted. The original city was almost totally destroyed during the Civil War, and it is famous for demolishing itself as it grows. Atlanta is a new city, with new buildings, neighborhoods, and traditions. It is amazing that it has any haunts at all. But there are a few.
The William Donaldson House, constructed in 1870, is the second-oldest in Dunwoody, an upscale community just outside Atlanta. In 1975, it was purchased by the Chestnut family, who had an idea of its secret nature before they moved in. "We felt a presence," Linda Chestnut said. "We knew there was something there." One of the Chestnuts' daughters woke one night to see a female ghost standing over her bed, peering out a window, and chorus singing was heard, from a front bedroom. The light in the dining room flickered on and off for some time until David Chestnut threatened to replace it with a new fixture. The flashing immediately ended.
Most off was an antique Bible that rested on a table. It would lift off the table and fall to the floor, opening to one particular passage. "A psychic came out and said a few words over it, and it stopped," Linda stated. The psychic also "saw" a family of ghosts-mother, father, and child, dressed in late-nineteenth-century fashion. The trio was probably William Donaldson; his third wife, Adeline, who occupied the structure after her husband died; and their daughter, Lee Ann. The three have been seen walking hand-in-hand. The psychic pronounced them "positive spirits," and the Chestnuts agreed. Of Donaldson's presences in the house, David maintained, "He's just making sure we're taking good care of it."
Early in the twentieth century, Atlantan Henry Heinz married Lucy Candler, daughter Coca-Cola magnate and Atlanta mayor. In 1922, Henry built his bridge a fine house, Rainbow Terrace, now Lullwater Estate, on Ponce de Leon Road. The great Spanish-Mediterranean-style mansion is a handsome structure of white stucco with orange roof tiles. But it was not to have a happy history. In 1946, Henry was murdered in the house by a burglar, and Lucy no longer wished to live there.
By the 1960s, the building became a boardinghouse, where residents frequently observed prowlers on the grounds. Residents and neighbors alike reported the intruders to police, but the shadowy figures vanished if anyone approached them. Repeated gunshots were heard, but again, the responsible parties were never located.
The estate continued to deteriorate until the 1980s, when a corporation purchased the property, turning it into condos and constructing townhouses around it. James Giblin and his family occupied a unit that included the old library, where Henry was killed. Just before Christmas 1984, Giblin decorated his mantel with greenery, then returned to find the greenery scattered across the floor. Several days later, a firmly secured Christmas tree fell to the floor, and one night in January a glass shelf fell, destroying expensive crystal and porcelain. Giblin did not believe in ghosts, but he was convinced that "something weird was going on. For those things to happen in such a short period of time just really didn't make a lot of sense."
