It’s #cousinsday so today’s #gameoftheday is #thecousinswar. This is one of my favourite #smallboxgames. The #waroftheroses was fought between the #houseoflancaster and the #houseofyork during the 15th Century. Each player represents one of the houses and battles over five rounds to gain influence. The players decide the battlefield and then play cards to add troops to the battle before bringing a final #liarsdice type bluffing conclusion to the battle. This is a really interesting, enjoyable and easy to play #twoplayergame. #lankygameruk (at Lytham St Annes, Lancashire) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDBFl8XhyJP/?igshid=yt6gp2dspky

You could be the greatest warlord the isles have ever seen. Your thirst for power is matched only by your strategic wit and cunning. You know no rival, aside from your brother.
Tumblr media
As sons of Zeus, you stand poised to conquer all of Greece, but not without the blessing of the gods. To determine who shall rule the domain of man, the gods have devised a contest and lent their most powerful forces for the cause: pillage and raze three cities while trying to achieve feats set forth from the denizens of Olympus. When the carnage ends, only one brother will be victorious, while the other will fade into antiquity as just another half-god spawn of Zeus.
Tumblr media
To compete in this contest, players will take on the role of one of these two brothers with access to a powerful array of Units including Soldiers, Beasts, Oracles, Heroes, and Spirits; each with various uses.
Each turn, the active player receives coins and/or draws cards.  They spend these coins to play Units to the 3 Cities to try to win wars to gain rewards, and to try to accomplish feats set forth by the gods of Olympus.

Hello! I’m John Clowdus, designer of Omen and owner of Small Box Games. Thanks so much for taking the time to check out this project! Regardless if you’ve had your eye on Omen: A Reign of War, or you’re just now finding out about the game, I hope you’ll consider backing this project and adding Omen: A Reign of War to your collection.
The above videos and reviews are a sampling of the reviews that have been done on Omen: A Reign of War over the past 6 years; there are a lot more out there, most of them overwhelming positive. They do a much better job of selling this game than I ever could. If Omen: A Reign of War seems like the kind of game you would like, I do hope you’ll consider backing this project.
This will likely be the last printing of Omen: A Reign of War. As part of Small Box Games’ 10 Year Anniversary, I wanted to make the game available again through this project. Even with over 4,000 copies in circulation, there’s still a demand for this game; I’m just not quite sure how high the demand is. If you’re interested in a copy, this is best opportunity to grab a copy. Omen: A Reign of War will not be available at your FLGS or available at a discount from your favorite OLGS.
Unlike most game projects on Kickstarter, this particular project doesn’t have any planned Stretch Goals. The final product you’ll receive for backing this project already features the highest quality components available domestically. Additionally, through the years, this edition has been streamlined and perfected to contain the base game and a lot of additional expansion content. There’s really not much left to add or upgrade.
Thank you again for checking out this project for Omen: A Reign of War. Omega Edition Deluxe!

Risks and challenges
Like all Small Box Games’ games, Omen: A Reign of War. Omega Edition Deluxe will be domestically manufactured.
I do my very best to mitigate any risks associated with manufacturing games. I’ve built solid relationships with several state-side manufacturing companies, and after 13 previous successful Kickstarter projects, I’ve come to know what to expect regarding quality and turnaround time.
Of course, there’s always the risk of something unforeseen happening during the production process. Kickstarter gives me the tools to keep in contact with backers, so I can keep them abreast of all aspects of production, each step of the way.
Everything is already prepped and ready for Omen: A Reign of War. I’m already working with the manufacturers, so that when this project ends, all I’ll have to do is tell them how many copies I need manufactured, helping to streamline the production process and hit the project’s reward delivery deadline.

What a marvel (#pun)! @philwalkerharding just gets me. I haven’t yet come across one of his games that I haven’t had an absolute blast with. Pack of Heroes is no exception. Each player chooses a team (or drafts a team, if you want added silliness!) from any of the 6 choices, then goes to battle on an invisible 3x3 grid. I took the Safari Squad, and Admiral Rhino stomped my team to victory! I have a firm belief that when it comes to rules, basic is better. Pack of Heroes follows this, with powers giving out damage cubes, damage cubes knocking out opponents and eventually killing them. There are special powers unique to each hero so each battle does feel different, even if the rules are incredibly straight forward. Also to note is the size of the box. This is no bigger than Sushi Go!, another of Walker-Harding’s designs. If I ever get my game created, I’m looking to this guy for inspiration. #packofheroes #adventurelandgames #smallboxgames #boardgames #boardgamegeek #bgg #superheroes #gamer #gamegeek #gamingnight #gamesnight

Hanamikoji (or Hanamakasausage if you simply can’t remember the name of it, eh @lilbabybay? 😄) is an absolutely stunning 2-player card game designed by Kota Nakayama with art by Maisherly and published by @emperors4games. You are business owners trying to gain the favour of the 7 Geisha (artists) to improve the reputation of your business. The cleverest part of the game is that each player shares the same deck of cards (21 in total, but 1 is always removed) and have the same four actions per round: keep 1 card facedown to help you win favour at the end of the round, discard two cards, lay down three cards and your opponent takes 1 and you keep the other two or deal out two pairs of cards with your opponent choosing which pair to take. The choices at first feel confusing, but after a turn or two you really start to see the strategy in every choice. An absolute winner for me, so much so that I almost immediately bought its ‘sequel’ Shadows in Kyoto, which I’ve yet to try! #emperors4 #hanamikoji #twoplayer #2player #cardgame #smallboxgames #boardgamegeek #gamer #gamegeek #bgg #kotanakayama #maisherly #geekstuff #japan
