The Amangela Smosh Mouth was soooo good. Like their chemistry is actually top tier. I love how well they bounce off of each other. There just isn't a moment of silence. Like Amangela thrives in so many ways. It's not just physical affection, which they do so naturally. It's also just genuine time spent together. It's the way they can spend 50% of the podcast episode talking about true crime, and discover more about why they love it so much through the conversation. It's the way one of them can tell a story about their family and it's not just a thing of "we talked about this before" but also "I'm learning more about you through the little things." This is why I love Amangela and their friendship so much. Everytime it's just so genuine.

I really hope shourtney is real but I’ve heard that some people that they haven’t been Interacting as much cause of some shourtney fans cause there some out there that are just not great. Also wanted to ask what are some of your fav smosh vids? Could be from any smosh channel :)

yeah honestly its a tricky topic. they are really sweet together and there is a lot that makes it seem like they are together but if they are not i totally respect that.

the other issue is that a lot of fans over the years have been really disrespectful and invasive towards them which is absolutely awful, and you're right there have been a few incidents over the years.

the main thing for me is that i dont go searching for "proof" i just post cute moments and photos as they come up. i think it's really important to respect their private lives , whether they are together or not.

aunt caroline has got to be my favorite smosh character of all time. i love seeing shayne in a full beat and wig, playing a 50s wine mom. i love a lot of shayne's characters. they're all really creative and have genuinely interesting quirks that are so fucking funny. every single character he did for baf legacy is a favorite for me. amanda too. i think my favorite character of hers is still Dolores paradise though. honorable mentions: augustus, katchem, belinda II, amadeus, mama/aurora, courtney's "i'm on my way" character, huey and beef beef, all of tommy's "mom in a comercial" characters, angela's priest at his first day of priest school in the musical tntl, amanda as the fortune teller in anthony's funeral roast. but i think my number one character has got to be when tommy and amanda were wine moms in that one tntl and they got lost in a lowe's or something and one of them drank paint (?). litterally my favorite bit and characters ever.

as for bits, quiet a few come to mind. gay airport definitely- i quote it all the fucking time. that one tntl bit chanse did where he was a girl running away in a horror movie and damien was in the stool and was supposed to be the killer and then chanse starts flirting with him. i can't remember who all was in it, but the bit where they're walking dogs and then the dogs walk them. spencer's bit about the puppet looking like angela. litterally all of tommy's bits.

But, & this may just be my preferences talking because I love big beefy toughies being anything but tops, I really can't see Johnny as a top anyway. He's just a little baby boo. Baby bean. Small smosh. Always almost crying. Idk. But you're not alone in that ship or that view of Johnny so it's all good 👌🏽

Hey y’all, I just wanted to elaborate a little on my last response post [ X ] since I feel like some people may interpret it the wrong way and by no means do I mean to attack anyone on here:

While I very much enjoy the R&L community I’ve found here on Tumblr, you must realize that my presence on this site takes work. Voluntary work. It is literally the first thing I do every weekday and is often the only thing that will get me to wake up in the morning, since their channels upload at 6AM EST every day and my body appears to reject any early morning alertness.

That being said, there’s a lot to be done each morning, in that making .GIFs takes a lot of time and energy - especially when it premieres after I’ve just woken up. Not only that, I do not make my content using some random internet .GIF generator. Oh no, I use Adobe Photoshop CC 2017... and my laptop is a Macbook built in 2010 with the approximate processing power of a 1920s typewriter... so you can imagine how that goes sometimes.

On top of that, all of these .GIFs must be completed before I go into work at 9AM, for which I leave my apartment 30 minutes prior. Often times, depending on how my computer decides to act on that particular day, making .GIFs can take up to an hour and a half depending on the episode.

I’m not saying this to complain about what I do, because again it is voluntary and I don’t have to do this forever, but just realize: I am one person. I work a full-time job Monday through Friday. I do not have the time to dedicate my whole life to this when they upload every single day to multiple channels and platforms (Facebook, Instagram etc.), nor do I have the capacity to remember references from each and every single episode since there are now almost 1,700 of them over the course of 14 years. And that’s JUST the main episodes (excluding the extended format from Season 13).

I also have a bunch of things on my plate at essentially all times. I work, I maintain relationships, I have errands to run, I have evening/weekend plans, and then of course there’s my inner demons that sometimes come out as a result of the stress of all of the above. Tumblr also used to be a place I frequented A LOT more a few years ago, often times to escape the stress or sadness I was feeling at the time. So naturally, I still associate this website with those negative feelings I was having and try to stay off of it as much as I see fit. I don’t want to become that sad person again who was addicted to a single website as a means of escaping underlying personal problems.

And not every single episode is worth watching, in my opinion. I’m just going to go ahead and say that now because it’s true: some episodes are really boring and don’t leave me with a lot of material to convert into .GIFs. When that happens, it’s disappointing for everyone. I’ve frequently seen them re-use material for the show and sometimes, admittedly, it feels like they’ve run out of ideas. But again, they’ve been doing this for 14 years now. What more can they do than their best at this point? They have a whole team to run with multiple other ventures (Smosh, Mythical Society, touring, writing books etc.). 

In summary, not every episode is gonna be a winner in my book, so whenever I need to take a break from here for whatever personal reason, I always know I’m taking the risk of missing a good episode. But it’s always a 50/50 chance...

Why am I telling you all this? Well, mainly out of my own anxiety lol. But also because I care, and I always try to do the right thing and tell you in advance if I’m not available so that you’re not left wondering where I went. Hypothetically, I could just drop everything and say “deuces” and never come back, but I see how much you guys love what I do and that pushes me to keep at it. Again, it also helps me kickstart my morning routine, so it’s not all bad!

And if there is a day where I’m not here, lucky for you there are MULTIPLE R&L related blogs on this site that have been doing this for even longer than I have! I only started this blog in November 2018, which isn’t that long ago. So there’s never truly going to be a day you will not have content, even after I’ve retired this blog.

I know this was a lot and also probably completely unnecessary because I know how understanding you all are, but I hope this puts things into perspective. Making .GIFs is not my life’s work or passion, but instead a nice hobby I’ve picked up. I will always prioritize my own needs before this, and I simply just wish for you to understand that. Keep being your Mythical best. :)

Being a Youtube Creator is not for the Weak-Hearted by Mark Laub

Ever thought about why people or how people make a living on Youtube? Is it worth it? Do many creators actually make enough money to have it be their full-time job? The short answer to these last two questions is: It depends. In this blog, I will seek to share some information about creating content on youtube and if the whole content creation is worth it in the end.

You see famous Youtube creators like Pewdiepie or Smosh or KSI and you may say to yourself that this job isn’t that hard and that anyone can be like that and be the next big thing, but this is an incredibly wrong assumption when it comes to making Youtube videos as a living. To actually be one of the greatest and most successful, not only will it requires years of hard work and creativity, but also you have to post pretty much daily and keep up with the constant trends to keep your subscribers happy. This leads to burnout or mental and physical health effects which a lot of Youtubers have come out in some videos to share these struggles and then take a break as a result. Take the below example and watch if you want about the detrimental effects dedication to Youtube can have.

Some people are able to live their dream on Youtube but then why are they still unhappy? It’s partly because of the pressure. The pressure to satisfy all your subscribers and building your fanbase and making sure you don’t lose any. The pressure to put out good content that is creative, unique and likable. The pressure to do all the above because you need to in order to make enough money and continue to live a good life.

Now I want to get into a more financial POV of what it takes to be a Youtuber and how they make money. The majority of the money they make from Youtube is from AdSense. AdSense in Youtube terms is essentially being paid between $1-$5 for every 1000 impressions on an ad that is played per video. So of course the more subscribers you have, the more viewers you will have and thus the more people who will actually watch and/or click on an ad that is played on your video. However, Youtube takes a big chunk out of this ad revenue they receive. Only about 50%, according a Youtuber by the name of Evan Edinger, goes to the Youtube creator. There are other smaller ways to make money but those are really only able to be accessed and/or profitable if the Youtuber already has a large enough fanbase (usually around 1,000,000 subscribers).

But how easy is it to be someone with a million subscribers or be successful and make a living on Youtube? Let’s admire the gif below to answer that question.

It’s simply a struggle bus.

The top 3.5% of Youtube, which means having about 1,000,000 views per month, will make only between $12,000 and $16,000 a year in advertising revenue. This is way less than enough to afford rent, food and other necessities to live on a yearly basis. Although this stat is specific to advertising revenue and they could make money off merchandise or other small things, it’s telling when this is how much only the top 3.5% make.

These stats for content creators is only getting worse if you are getting into the game now. In 2006, the top 3% of Youtube garnered just 64% of viewers (a lot but workable). Today, that number has risen to 90%. The top 3% of Youtube garners 90% of all Youtube viewers. 

Wow is right.

To make matters worse for new creators, the Washington Post states that, “[Youtube] recently said channels need to have reached 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time over the past 12 months before they can earn money from ads.” So even if you have ads on your channel, there is a good chance you won’t make any money from it un til you reach a certain threshold. 

So is it worth it to start a Youtube channel and grow your own content? My answer remains: It depends. If you think you have what it takes, you are passionate, you have an idea that no one has done yet, then by all means shoot your shot. Anyone can be a creator on Youtube and that’s special but it’s becoming increasingly harder to start fresh. It’s a long steep hill you’re climbing up and it is simply not for the weak-hearted.
