growing up, Niki had a pet hamster named Bubbles

Marina’s favourite animals are actually rabbits. She’s always wanted one but never got one because she lived in the Ark for so long and because Aeon doesn’t think Marina is responsible enough for her own pet

Marina also compares Aeon to a turtle sometimes. “My Brother is like a turtle. He’s slow and boringgg. All he does is work in his lab all day. Not to mention turtles can live to be really old and Aeon is quite old”

Before the apple federation war, Loen and his family live on a small acreage outside a small town. While living there, they had a golden retriever puppy named Sal. The dog was quite literally, Loen’s best friend

Lolory has an old grey and white tabby cat named Storm

Vermillion Snow and Chi Xiaoyu’s school doesn’t allow any sort of pets or animals in the dorms, so they often go out to Cat cafes after classes to study and relax.

Just a small opinion thing on stuff i read people say about Side Orders story.

I think people vastly overexaggerate when they talk about Side Order's story, going as far to say that there is no story at all, which is simply not true.

While the story doesn't introduce any new concepts or offer shocking relevations, it odes touch on a bunch of smaller elements from the earlier games:

• We got information on what Agent 8 was up to in the time between S2 and S3

• The interactions between Pearl and Marina

• The introduction or Acht as an actual character

• Sn insight into Marinas past while living in the domes

• An actual explanation of Sanitization as well as Marinas efforts to find a way to help sanitized victims

Additionally it touches on Marinas fear of change and how she has overcome it in the time since the Final Fest by accepting it as a part of life.

I just think that people had higher expectations for the story, probably due to multiple factor. Octo Expansion had set the bar quite high, but the marketing also had a big role to play in this. The first teaser we got with its very abstract concept art has set an expectation for themes that were not delivered in the DLC, such as themes of cloning which were already teased with the Judds (and maybe with Marigold?). The time between anouncement and release fostered an atmosphere of wild speculation, which only created a set up for disappointment. While this issue is one that isnt exclusive to this case, it can't be overlooked.

While the DLCs story doesnt hit the same highs as OEs, to say that it doesnt have any story at all does it a disservice. Side Order revisits story beads and concepts from S2 and OE and ties up loose ends, similarly to Return of the Mammalians. In hindsight this makes sense as S3's role in regards to story seems to be the end of am era, to tie up loose ends and pave the way for new stoey lines in the future.

Paper announced a new Nikki figurine, and I'd like to make a not-so-short rant on the subject - feel free to state your views on the matter afterwards

Disclaimer: this entire text is my opinion on the matter and in no way an irrefutable statement

This week another SN figurine was announced, with Nikki in an unknown Cloud-style outfit. I mentioned that before in other occasions in the community at large, but why is it that only Nikki gets anything outside of the game?

People constantly come to the quick conclusion that, well, Nikki is the protagonist and all so it's only natural that she gets most of the attention, but there's a noticeable difference between getting most of the attention and getting all of it. The only character to get anything at all outside the game - applies to both Love Nikki and Shining Nikki - is Nikki and, by proxy, Momo.

Earlier I heard in my server that "she is the protagonist, so she's the game's selling point" - fact is, Nikki alone isn't strong enough of a selling point. Anyone somewhat familiar with long-running gacha RPGs knows the other characters are often just as, if not more, important as the protagonist and appropriately, they get a share of the spotlight outside their games.

Think about other games in this segment I know which one you're gonna think about. While the protagonist's story is the driving motor of the game, what we actually hear/read most is the stories of the people surrounding the protagonist, and as a result the game becomes more of a collection of stories of interesting people, and said interesting people gets just as much attention as part of the game as a product as the protagonist does, to the point that often the protagonist is ignored.

Of course we don't want Nikki to be ignored, even though I personally have been finding her a bit flat as a character as of late. But consider: when was the last time we saw artwork of other characters in their birthdays or other big events outside the game (say, holidays) that weren't reflection arts or concepts? To be honest I've seen it around 5 times ever since TW SN was released - April 2019.

Likewise, I made that survey a few months ago, asking if you were interested in merchandise from anyone other than Nikki, to which the crushing majority said yes. And I know for a fact, half the community would be fighting tooth and nail for a Lilith figurine with a sparkly silver dress, or maybe Loen in some action pose [edit: my gf arrived as I was typing and added she'd kill for a figurine of the Goddess of Desire]. We could have gotten a short animation (even if it was live2D mostly) of Ashley's past which is a very popular story and honestly how most people even heard of Shining Nikki to begin with or some slice of life about Aeon and Marina taking care of the personality mirrors in the Ark. But instead, anything that isn't Nikki herself is neglected and treated as secondary even if in practice they are most of what makes the game.

In short, my point with all this is to express my disappointment with how a world meant to be rich and attractive is neglected and the game is treated as if it were only pretty clothes on a silly (affectionate) pink-haired girl. Of course the game would decline as it has been lately. We can have a dress-up with pretty clothes anywhere. Just ask Archosaur.

Christmas headcanons

More sn headcanons as a Christmas gift.

∙ Aeon has a little mini Christmas tree in his lab that Marina decorated for him

∙ Loen is an absolute Christmas fanatic

∙ Yexiao always bakes a bunch of sweets for bake sales in Cloud

∙ Starhaven looks like a christmas dreamland in winter and with all the christmad decorations

∙ There is also a figure skating competition held on Lake Silvermoon

∙ Modric gets a group of people and goes Caroling around

∙ The Mercury Group does a very chaotic secert santa. None have ever gone smoothly

∙ Chi Xiaoyu and Vermillion Snow hve matching christmas sweaters

∙ Loen attended Susan and Willams's Christmas concert and Susan was overly joyed

∙ Caprico has never actually been a fan of christmas, even from he was a kid

∙ Aeon trys very hard to find a heart fet and unique chrismas gift for Loen but Marina makes it very hard to do so

∙ Ashley once played a very enchanting Christmas song in the Violin one year for a Chistmas concert

∙ Zoey used to play hokey when she was a kid. (i kind just put this in here because North Kingdom is basically just the Canada Of Miralad tbh)

∙ Nikki's favourite holiday is Christmas
