the cat looks at bacon, sniffs him and rubs its head against him affectionately. it likes him.
> [Bacon recoils the second fur touches his scales]
> [He retreats into one of the many holes in his new play structure, hiding from view]
> [You “tackle” the cat]
> [You’re not strong or big enough to knock it over, but you succeed in drawing it’s attention to you]
> [You put yourself in between the cat and Bacon]
> [You let out a low defensive growl]

Snake ‘n’ Bacon | May 11, 2009 - 12:45AM | Special
I respect Michael Kupperman. Do not misconstrue me here, I own at least one Michael Kupperman book, as a matter-of-fact/me-being-nice. I do not have an encyclopedic knowledge of his work, however, so please don’t lean on me to determine how direct of an adaptation these sketches are of his comics. I did leaf through Tales Designed To Thrizzle: Volume One but nothing caught my eye.
I should introduce this better. Snake ‘n’ Bacon are a pair of characters who appear in Michael Kupperman comics. The joke is that they basically don’t do anything, being that they have limited mobility and all. Snake just responds to everything with “sss” while the inexplicably more-verbal Bacon just says stuff about being bacon, saying things like “crumble me into a salad” while people around them credit them with being brilliant minds whose participation in a ripping yarn is essential for plot advancement. The joke is that they are lame characters, and should not be the main attraction. And yet... THEY ARE.
Indeed! This is actually more of an animated sketch comedy program, where Snake and Bacon (portrayed in live-action) serve as the jumping-off point for multiple stand-alone sketches. We have an evil floating head that schemes for world domination, but is currently working a delivery job. He meets a woman and they hit it off and go steady! We meet Teenage Grandpa, a detective who foils a mafia crime by posing as a giant cigar, and a rabid district attorney. I laughed a small handful of times. Pretty good!
I skimmed an interview with Kupperman, and was reminded that he contributed to the Adult Swim comics site. The interview mentions a parody of Beetle Bailey’s 9/11 comic. I’m going to put a side-by-side for that in this post, because I really think this entry should be longer and I’d rather do that by swiping images from online and pasting them here. The interview also mentions that Kupperman considered his work for them to be especially “puerile”, but only because he assessed that was probably what they wanted from him. He also speaks pretty highly about working with them compared to other outlets. That’s nice. Kupperman is one of those guys I’m glad to find out had an okay time. It makes me say stuff like “that’s nice” when I hear it.
I forgot to touch on the cast. Lotta good guys in here. You might recognize some of them from other things.
As for the show as a whole? It didn’t lead to more episodes, which is a shame. It’s better than a lot of stuff on Adult Swim. The main issue might be that I don’t think the television show really does too much to elevate Kupperman’s humor. It’s almost too-faithful of an adaptation. I could see Adult Swim being on the fence about this show and that being a factor in deciding not to pick it up. You’re not exactly robbing the world of Kupperman’s brilliance by not picking this up because his comics already do a really good job in capturing it.
9/11 never forget

Hi!! Omg I love your writing so much and I was wondering if you could please write soft paige x reader maybe were their married or dating and are cooking in there house together and then maybe soft smut 🙂↕️ I just feel like it would be so cute 😩🫶
morning light- p.b x fem!reader

pairing: paige bueckers x fem!reader
warnings: fluff & smut
synopsis: a glimpse of what it’s like being married to paige.
a/n: thank you mllll <3333
♡₊˚ 🦢・₊✧
you had heard her before you saw her, a soft shuffle of socks sliding lazily across the hardwood floor, followed by a gentle creak of the hallway as she rounded the corner into the kitchen. there was something familiar—almost rhythmic—about the way paige moved in the mornings, like she was still half-dreaming, existing in that warm, in-between space of sleep and wakefulness.
you didn’t need to turn around to know the look on her face. you could picture it perfectly: eyelids still heavy with sleep, hair messily piled on top of her head, and a sleepy pout tugging at her lips, the kind she wore when she wasn’t quite ready to join the world yet. she always emerged like that on sundays—untouched by alarms, schedules, or the outside world, wearing whatever hoodie had ended up closest to her side of the bed.
“good morning.” she mumbled, voice low and raspy. her arms snaked around your waist from behind, her body pressing gently against your back as her chin rested on your shoulder. the heat of her skin seeped through the soft cotton of the hoodie, her warmth wrapping around you in a way that made your shoulders relax, the kind of comfort you could never quite explain to anyone but her.
you smiled to yourself, continuing to stir the pancake batter in the ceramic bowl in front of you. “morning, honey. sleep okay?”
“i would’ve slept longer if the bed wasn’t cold,” she replied, lips brushing your shoulder. “why do you wake up so early?”
“some of us enjoy being productive,” you teased, glancing at her over your shoulder. her eyes were still only half-open, and her cheeks were flushed in that endearing way they always were right after she woke up.
“and some of us don’t believe in suffering,” she yawned dramatically, then gave you a half-smirk. “you’re lucky you’re cute or I’d report this level of morning energy as a crime.”
you chuckled, leaning your weight into her a little. “you say that, but you always find your way into the kitchen the second you smell pancakes.”
“because you put drugs in them. love drugs. secret wife drugs,” she muttered, letting go of your waist only to snatch a peeled banana from the counter. “you cook like someone who’s trying to trap me.”
you raised an eyebrow and turned to face her. “you literally proposed to me.”
she shrugged, her smile widening. “you wore that dress that day. you know the one. i had no choice.”
“unbelievable,” you muttered under your breath, biting down a grin. “go make yourself useful and set the table or something.”
but instead of moving, she took a big bite of banana and hopped onto the counter, legs swinging gently. “nope. i’m just here for moral support and affection.”
you shook your head, laughing softly. it was always like this—easy and calm. being married to paige didn’t feel like some milestone or huge lifestyle shift, it felt like coming home. every day. in moments like this, with music playing low from your phone on the counter, the sizzle of bacon beginning behind you, and her leaning toward you like she couldn’t physically stay away, you realized how much peace she brought to your life.
she watched you stir the batter with narrowed eyes, like she was analyzing your every move, and then tilted her head. “can I flip the pancakes this time?”
you hesitated. “you burnt them the last time.”
her jaw dropped in mock offense. “that’s slander. i was trying a new technique.”
“you literally walked away mid-flip to answer a facetime from kk.”
“that was an emergency,” she defended, crossing her arms, and you raised your eyebrows as you waited to hear what she came up with. “she wanted to know which sneakers to wear.”
you could only shake your head as you handed her the spatula with an amused sigh. “fine, you can flip. i want golden brown, not charcoal art.”
“yes ma'am,” she saluted dramatically, hopping down and taking position in front of the stove like she was about to enter the culinary olympics. you let her have her moment. she hovered over the pan with intense focus, biting her lip as she waited for the right moment. when she finally flipped the pancake, it landed perfectly, and she turned toward you, triumphant. “boom. pancake goddess unlocked.”
“you flip one pancake and suddenly you’re martha stewart?” you teased.
“better,” she said, leaning toward you, proud grin in full effect. “i’m paige bueckers, wife of the year, pancake flipper extraordinaire.”
you walked up to her, wrapping your arms around her waist, and kissed her lips. “you’re also dramatic.”
she leaned into your embrace without hesitation, resting her hands on your waist. her body melted against you, and for a moment, the playfulness gave way to quiet. there was something sacred about how she stilled in your arms, how her breath slowed like she felt safest right there. she turned her face slightly toward yours and spoke softly, “i love this. you and me.”
you kissed her cheek, gently. “me too.”
once breakfast was fully underway, the kitchen was alive with the smells of sizzling bacon and the rich aroma of coffee lingering in the air. paige, having declared herself a master chef after her pancake win, insisted on cracking the eggs, and you watched her do so with intense concentration—tongue peeking out from the corner of her mouth in the most endearing way.
“you’re staring,” she said without looking up, carefully dropping the yolk into the bowl.
“you’re cute,” you said simply. she paused to glance at you, cheeks flushing slightly despite her usual confidence.
“you’re obsessed with me.”
“guilty,” you agreed. she grinned and turned back to the eggs, but her shoulders were a little more relaxed now, and you noticed her humming under her breath—a soft rnb melody that drifted lazily between you like smoke curling in the sunlight. she moved around the kitchen barefoot, and there was something painfully beautiful about the image.
you plated the food together in quiet harmony, bumping hips a few times as you navigated the small space. at one point, she wrapped an arm around your waist and just held you there for a second while you reached up to grab two mugs from the cabinet. her touch wasn’t rushed or even particularly purposeful—it was just hers. warm. steady. like she couldn’t not be touching you.
you ate outside on the small patio table, birds chirping from somewhere in the trees beyond your fence. paige sat across from you with her legs pulled up in the chair, one hand holding her fork, the other stretched toward yours across the table. she kept stealing bites off your plate, smiling innocently every time you glared at her. there was a smear of syrup at the corner of her mouth, and you leaned over to wipe it away with your thumb, only for her to catch your wrist and kiss the pad of your finger, eyes locked with yours the whole time.
conversation came easy, as it always did. she talked about off-season training ideas, about how much she missed the girls, about wanting to visit your families together next weekend. you told her about a book you were reading, about a funny video you saw, about how you’d dreamed of mornings like this when you were younger—before you even knew her name.
after breakfast, she helped you rinse the dishes, her hip bumping yours playfully. she sang loudly and off-key as she dried the plates, and you joined her, laughing until your stomach hurt. she danced around the kitchen with a dishrag like it was a microphone, then twirled you into her arms like it was the middle of a wedding. she dipped you dramatically, nearly dropping you in the process, but the laughter between you made it worth the stumble.
and when the kitchen was clean, and the sun had risen higher in the sky, and the rest of the world started to buzz awake, the two of you curled up on the couch under the same throw blanket, her head resting on your shoulder and your fingers gently tracing circles on her thigh. no words were needed. no plans. just this. just her. she turned her face toward you, eyes soft, and murmured, “i’d do this with you every morning for the rest of my life.”
you looked down at her, heart aching in the best way, and smiled. “good thing you married me, then.”
her lips found yours again, slow and sure, and you knew in that moment that you’d never stop choosing her. paige's hands roamed under your shirt, her palms laying flat on your skin as she guided you onto your back.
"can I show you how much i love you?" she asked softly, her voice barely above a whisper. you nodded, breathless, and she kissed you again. you lifted up slightly so she could pull your shirt off, leaving you in nothing but your panties. her lips trailed down your neck as she moved lower, settling between your legs. the feeling of her lips against your skin was electric, but still slow—slow enough to make you shiver, slow enough that you could feel every brush of her lips, every tender touch, as though it was the first time.
with each kiss she placed on your body, you felt more and more like you were melting into her, becoming one with the softness of her love. her hands were gentle as she hooked her fingers into the waistband of your panties, tugging them down your thighs until you were able to kick them off. there was nothing harsh or rushed about it—just her, loving you in the most tender way.
paige placed a soft kiss to your thigh, then to your clit. you were already soaked and she had barely touched you. it didn't matter how many times you did this, it still felt like something new with her every time. you tangled your fingers in her hair, your heart racing as she continued, her touch as delicate as ever, taking the time to explore you without any sense of urgency.
her mouth worked at your clit, gentle sucks that had your eyes fluttering shut. she brought her fingers up and gathered your slick before pressing them in, two at a time because she knew you could take it. you gasped her name, back arching slightly, and you could already feel yourself teetering on the edge.
your breath hitched slightly, looking down to see paige already studying you. your eyes met, soft and unguarded. it wasn’t long before your hips were jerking forward, chasing the pleasure. a strangled breath left your lips, your fingers gripping her hair like it was the only thing keeping you on earth. you whined out her name as everything came to a head, the knot in your stomach unraveling.
paige worked you through it and when she finally pulled back, her eyes met yours again, full of adoration. she moved up your body and rested her forehead against yours. "you’re everything to me," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion.
you smiled, tracing her jawline with your thumb, and tilted your head, brushing your lips against hers. "and you’re everything to me, paige."

drew and actress!reader’s first valentine’s day
masterlist | actress!reader masterlist
valentine's special, suggested here :) warning: suggestive ending
Y/n awoke with a groan, her legs stretching out beneath her as she took in a deep inhale of the crisp morning air, surprised to be greeted with the strong scent of bacon. She glanced to her side, expecting to see Drew sprawled out on his side of the bed, only to see it empty. Down the hallway, the low sounds of 90s rock echoed over the sizzling of bacon as it cooked on the stovetop. With a furrow of her brow, y/n swung her legs out of bed before padding across the floor until she made it into the kitchen.
At the stove, Drew stood, his bare and muscled back to her as he swayed side to side with the music. He wore a pair of gym shorts low on his hips, his torso covered by one of y/n’s old aprons. Just to the side of him, a vase of roses in varying shades of pink and red adorned the kitchen table. Hearing the soft sound of y/n’s footsteps, Drew turned around.
“Good morning.” He hummed as y/n stepped over to him, greeting him with a smile before pressing a kiss to his lips. He grinned against her before the two of them pulled apart, y/n’s arm finding its way around Drew’s back. Her fingernails traced lightly against the tanned skin of his back as he turned his attention to the sizzling skillet in front of him.
“What’s all this for, hm?” Y/n asked, looking across the island at the spread of various breakfast foods. Fluffy eggs and perfectly toasted toast sat next to a bowl of sliced fruit and a box of y/n’s favorite pastries from the bakery downtown.
“It’s Valentine’s Day, my love.” Drew laughed, putting a hand on his hip as he carefully transferred the bacon to a plate. “I figured it's the least I could do for you for putting up with me these last few months.”
“It’s actually crazy how perfect you are, did you know that?” Y/n said, planting a kiss on Drew’s cheek. She turned to the kitchen cabinets, digging through them until she found her and Drew’s favorite mugs.
“Ah, ah.” Drew chided, stopping y/n as she went to start the coffee pot. He went to the refrigerator, pulling out a large of y/n’s order from Claire’s. Y/n squealed, taking it from him and setting it on the counter before grabbing his face in her hands. She littered kisses along his grinning and blushed face.
“Perfect, Starkey, per-fect!” Y/n said, stepping away from Drew as he snaked an arm around her waist. “Did you not get anything for yourself?”
“I already drank it.” Drew laughed, shifting his hand under the back of the old t-shirt of his y/n owned. “How do you think I got up so early to do all this?”
Y/n felt goosebumps travel up her back from Drew’s warm touch against the small of her back. Y/n leaned her head against Drew’s shoulder, watching as he painstakingly crafted her a plate, taking care in each helping of eggs and dollop of whipped cream.
“I’ll be right back,” y/n said, leaning up onto her tiptoes to whisper in Drew’s ear, “I’m gonna go get your gift.”
“You got me a gift?!” Drew asked, his tone incredulous as he watched y/n giddily run away towards their guest bedroom. Once she made it in, y/n flung the doors to the closet open, digging through the pockets of an old coat for the spot she’d hidden Drew’s gift in. Once her hand’s felt the crinkle of wrapping paper, she grinned, pulling the elegantly wrapped present out and heading back to the kitchen.
Drew sat their two plates at the dining table, slipping the apron off over his head as y/n approached. She giggled as Drew’s eyes widened at his gift, clearly very much surprised as one of y/n’s hands reached up to rest along the nape of his neck. She scratched his head lightly, examining the light blush in his cheeks as he looked back down at her.
“Here you go,” Y/n whispered, handing the wrapped box to him. Drew took it, laughing slightly as he quickly pressed a kiss to her forehead before placing the box on the kitchen table.
“This is a bit ironic.” Drew said, digging into his pocket to procure an almost identical box wrapped in the same pink and red gift wrapping. Y/n laughed as she took it, placing it down on the kitchen table before rising up to press a kiss to Drew’s jaw.
“You should open yours first.” Y/n said, raising her brows at Drew.
“Ok, ok, fine.” Drew chuckled. “But let’s eat first.”
Drew moved to pull y/n’s chair out for her. She sat down, examining the beautiful bouquet of roses and impressive spread of food sat out in front of her. Drew took his seat opposite her, watching as she admired the table between them.
“Thank you, Drew. Really, this is… thank you.” Y/n stammered, smiling widely. Drew laughed, reaching across the table to take her hand.
“You deserve it baby.” Drew said, squeezing y/n’s hand gently before the two of them dug into their breakfast. Y/n savored each bite, praising Drew for his impressive cooking skills. Once they finished, Drew cleared the table before returning to sit across from y/n once more.
“Now it’s time for you to open this.” Y/n said, pushing the box towards Drew. Drew sat up straighter, clearing his throat before he examined the small box in his large hands. He worked intently as he unwrapped it, revealing a rectangular, velvet box. His eyes flicked up to meet y/n’s excited gaze before returning back to the box in front of him. Drew opened it slowly, revealing the glittering, gold necklace inside. He lifted it from the box, admiring the details of the dainty, gold chain and two glittering stone pendants, one for Drew’s birth month and one for y/n’s.
“Shit, baby…” Drew whispered as he looked intently at the way the chain and stones caught the light. “I love it, baby, wow. Thank you…”
Drew grinned before he offered the necklace out to y/n to put on him. He turned his toned back to her, allowing for her to drape the chain around his neck before securing it in place. Her fingers brushed along the sensitive skin of the nape of his neck, teasing him before sinking back into her seat. Drew turned around, flexing his chest as he showed off his new bling with a cheesy grin that brought a giggle out of y/n’s mouth.
“You should open yours,” Drew said, gesturing to the wrapped gift in front of y/n as he scratched the back of his neck. “We, uh… sort of had similar ideas.”
“What?!” Y/n laughed as she opened the gift, revealing a similar velvet box to the one she had gotten Drew. She opened it revealing a golden necklace. However, where Drew’s was a fine, golden chain with small pendants, hers was an intricately designed locket with swirling embellishments. Her fingers gently opened the locket, revealing an engraving spelling out “I Love You” in Drew’s familiar handwriting.
Y/n laughed lightly as she admired it, both because of the sentiment of the gift as well as the way their minds thought so similarly. Both were necklaces, different in details, sure, but genuine and thoughtful in a way that took their tastes into account almost effortlessly
“I love it, Drew,” Y/n grinned up at Drew, who stood from his seat opposite her to press a kiss to the top of y/n’s head before pulling her to her feet to wrap her in his warm embrace. Her face rested against the warmth of his bare skin, taking in his soft scent as he held her close. After a moment, she raised up to her tip toes so her lips brushed gently against Drew’s ear.
“I’ve got one more gift for you tonight.” Y/n whispered, a teasing grin spreading across her lips.
“Hmm, am I allowed a hint?” Drew asked with a quirk of his brow.
“Well, it’s for after dinner tonight.” Y/n said, her fingertips tracing along Drew’s chest as she spoke.
“Getting to see you in that dress, I mean… what more of a gift could I ask for?” Drew said lowly. “Could I at least get a hint?”
Y/n’s grin widened as she pressed a kiss to Drew’s cheek before her lips returned to his ear.
“No, sorry.” Y/n whispered. “I guess you’ll just have to take off my dress and find out.”
