Auf dem Weg Richtung Westen kommen wir zufällig an einer ziemlich coolen Sehenswürdigkeit vorbei: Twinfall, der vom Snakeriver gespeist wird. Der Shoshone Fall ist gleich darunter. Der Snakeriver begleitet uns schon eine ganze Weile. Bei Netflix gibt es die Serie "Snakeriver" deshalb fand ich die Gegend hier besonders interessant.

Hier kann man auch so eine Art Gleitschirmsprung( Basejumping) von der Brücke buchen. Kostet 170 Dollar. Ich würde das nicht machen, wenn ich 1000 Dollar dafür bekommen würde, es geht ca. 150m in die Tiefe.

While visiting Grand Teton National Park, and completely getting skunked on the wildlife viewing, I started to review my park map, and to my delight, learned that there was a spot in the park where one of my favorite photos, by one of my favorite photographers, had been taken.  So I drove up to the Snake River overlook, and marveled that I was standing in the same place Ansel Adams took his famous photo.  If you know my work, you know black and white is my favorite.  And he has certainly been an inspiration for me.  It is said that he was a solitary child, and he saw art in wilderness.  I can relate to that so much.  He developed dark room techniques where he dodged & burned to obtain certain effects.  These are things we do digitally nowadays.  His son Michael says that he would have fully embraced the digital age of photography.  In my piece I call “Remembering Ansel” I show a bit more of the Teton range to the right, and there is a lot of tree growth (fortunately) obscuring a lot of the river view.  It’s an astonishingly beautiful park.  I get the sense that he is one person who would have shared my sheer awe of the beauty and magnificence of this planet. HIs work made a lasting impact and helped forge the direction of our conservation efforts in The United States.
