Keeping It Quiet | E.M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie comes to visit you when everyone is sleeping... or so you thought — eddie x fem!hopper!reader fluff
warnings: suggestive content, making out, fear of getting caught, jokes about guns/getting shot
words: 1.7k
a/n: idgaf about timeline or continuity with the show when I do this series of oneshots, it's just kind of an alternate version of the show where Hopper is still here around the events of season 4 ig (also I LOVE this gif of joseph omg)

It was late at night, but you weren’t sleeping. You were taking advantage of the quiet house and catching up on some reading that finally wasn’t for school. You laid with the book at the foot of your bed, and your feet dangling over your pile of stuffed animals right by your pillows.
It was so comfortable, you forgot about the world around you.
And you were only brought back by the terrifying sound of someone knocking on your window. It scared you right out of your haze, at least until you looked outside and realised who it was.
Eddie was standing right outside your bedroom wall with a stupid grin on his face, and he was pointing to the windowsill, wordlessly asking you to let him in.
After rolling your eyes and marking your spot in the book, you got up and opened the window for your boyfriend.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, leaning over the separation to peck his lips quickly.
“Not quite the warm welcome I was expecting.” He grunted, using the log you had placed under your window to climb in your room. “You’re not happy to see me?”
“You scared the hell out of me ‘cause you didn’t tell me you were coming over.”
“I didn’t know I was coming over until I was already in my van. I haven’t seen you in forever, plus I had something I wanted to show you.”
The last part was intriguing, but you still wanted to correct his dramatics. You’ve learned that if you didn’t act as the voice of reason sometimes, he would start believing his own exaggerations.
“It’s been two days since you last saw me.” And it didn’t take long for you to give in to whatever he was hiding. “But what is it that I have to see?”
He let out an exaggerated sigh as he flopped down on the end of your bed. He looked up at you with fake sadness. “I should have known you would only like me for material things, Madonna.”
“So what if I was a material girl? You’d still love me anyways.”
He started speaking like he was in the school play, which he would never do. “It’s just sad—”
You jumped towards him to cover his mouth with your hand. As much as you loved his antics and would encourage it at any other time, it was all quiet in your house and you were petrified of waking your family.
“Are you crazy?” You asked him in a hushed scold.
He just nodded happily since he couldn’t speak with your hand still over his mouth.
“If my dad hears you, he’ll burst into the room with a gun in his hand. You might be able to charm the pants off of me effortlessly, but I think you’d get shot if you tried to test your charisma on the chief of police.”
You cautiously took your hand away from Eddie’s face while he looked at you with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Stop looking at me like that and show me what you wanted me to see in the first place.” You told him, sternly but lovingly.
“Wow, you really are the chief’s daughter.” He joked as he stood up and took off his leather jacket.
You figured he was just making himself comfortable, but when he started taking off the t-shirt he was wearing underneath the coat, you wondered what was really going on.
Then you saw it.
On his right side, where his rib cage ends, there was a new tattoo. A flaming sword that you knew was based on his current—and favourite—Dungeons and Dragons campaign of his.
He pointed to the pommel of the weapon, which was a heart shaped gemstone.
“Did you see the end? It doesn’t have anything to do with the game, but I designed it while thinking of you.” He smiled at you, and you smiled back. “Do you like it?”
“I love it, Eds.” You answered sincerely. “When did you get it done?”
“Friday. Right after your dad picked you up from the mall.”
“Did it hurt?”
He shook his head as he gently pushed you back against your pillows, then positioned himself on top of you.
“Not as much as it hurts to be away from you.”
You had to stifle your own laugh at his corniness. As stupid as it was, you did feel kind of flattered by him at that moment. And that’s exactly why you let him kiss you, despite you being just a few decibels away from your sleeping father waking up and grounding you permanently for sneaking a boy in.
But you pushed all your worries aside and let him press his luscious lips against yours. God, how you couldn’t get enough of that sensation.
You loved how he kissed you just because he likes to kiss you, how he used flavoured chapstick so he could heal his chapped lips, and how he always tasted faintly of cigarettes and the lemon candies you got him hooked on.
You loved all that almost as much as what came next.
When he moved his lips from your mouth to your jaw, and then your neck. He nipped the skin just lightly and then continued to work his magic. You had both noted another time just like this that your bodies must be made for each other, and this exact moment was perfect proof for that claim.
“Oh, god, Eddie. You’re so good at this.” You praised, trying to keep your voice down.
He mumbled an ‘mhm?’ against your throat. He was such a sucker for your affirmations.
“Yeah. Just be careful not to leave a bruise.”
Eddie lifted his head up, causing your face to morph into a frown from the expression of pleasure just a second ago.
“You don’t want little reminders of my love?” He asked, lips exaggeratedly  pouted.
“Not when my family can see them, loverboy.”
He seemed satisfied with that response, returning his attention to you and practically attacking your neck with his kisses. The way his mouth was worshipping your neck damn near put you in a trance. It was so good that you didn’t even notice the soft knock at your door, nor the opening that followed it.
When your younger sister called out your name softly, that’s when you realised the importance of not letting your guard down. You tried to push Eddie off of you as he hadn’t seen Eleven there yet, but he got up quickly once he did notice.
You urged him to sit down and stay silent while you pulled El away from your bedroom and into the bathroom, all while your sister stared at you with a wide-eyed expression.
Eleven was the first one to speak between you two. “Who was that in your room?”
“That was my friend.” You said, partially honest. He was your friend, he was just also more. “His name is Eddie.”
“What were you and Eddie doing?”
You racked your brain, trying to think of something believable to say that would get your sister off your back. You really should have prepared a lie before this, because it was proving to be more difficult than you would have thought; of course, you never really thought about your sister catching you making out with your shirtless boyfriend.
“We were playing.” You answered as confidently as possible.
“Playing?”
You nodded. “Yeah, you know when you and I play-fight, like wrestling? When Dad sometimes thinks we’re hurting each other but we’re really just having fun?”
“So you and Eddie were just having fun?”
“Mhm.” You ran a hand through her hair, feeling somewhat guilty about your lie. “Why? Were you worried about me?”
She didn’t seem fazed at all by your fingers combing through her hair, but her cheeks flooded with pink when you asked if she knocked on your door out of concern for you.
“I heard you were awake and I wanted to know what you were doing.” Eleven told you.
It really was nothing embarrassing, she’s just a shy girl. And now you felt less guilty about lying since you know she was just curious rather than upset.
“Well, I was just playing with my friend. But, don’t tell Dad about Eddie, okay?”
“Why not?”
Another question you didn’t quite have an answer for. Luckily, you were quick enough on your toes that your little sister wouldn’t notice the nonsense spilling from your mouth.
“You know Dad can be a fun sponge sometimes. Like when he spends an hour questioning your friends before you can hang out, or when he won’t let us turn the couch into a pillow fort. If he hears about Eddie, he won’t let us have fun together anymore, and I would be really sad if I couldn’t see my friend.”
She seemed to be eating your excuse up, knowing exactly what you meant.
“Okay. I won’t tell him.” She agreed. “I don’t want you to be sad.”
“And I don’t want you to be tired, little lady. So, now that you know what you wanted to learn, how about you go back to sleep, okay?”
“Okay, goodnight.”
She opened the slightly creaky bathroom door and headed back to her bedroom, hopefully to fall back asleep soon.
“Goodnight, El. Sleep tight.” You called in a volume just above the whisper you were using just seconds before.
You stood in the bathroom alone after you heard your sister’s bedroom door close. For a minute, you just listened to everything around your house. The quiet wind blowing outside, the sounds of Eddie flipping through your books as he waited for you to come back, and best of all, not a peep from your father’s room.
It was safe to return to Eddie in your bedroom and resume the fooling around from before.
Once you silently pushed open your door, closed it again, and sat down next to your boyfriend on the corner of your bed, he pulled you onto his lap.
“So, we’re in the clear now?” Eddie asked you.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean we can be any less careful than usual. That just proves my family can hear us, so let’s not be stupid.”
A flirty grin spread across Eddie’s face as he trailed his fingers under your shirt and up your sides. “Baby, I can’t promise anything. Stupid is my middle name.”

can't stop thinking about riding eddie in front of a mirror (18+ only)
eddie x afab! reader, smut, p in v, mirror sex, reverse cowgirl, body worship
You never could hold your tongue when you smoked. Your thoughts scattered with every hit until the filter in your head faded away. It’s why you're comfortable enough to ask –
“Why do you like it when I’m on top?”
You slip the joint between Eddie's fingers, your vision hazy as you watch the silver of his rings bleed into the dark blue interior of his van. His chest raises as he inhales, his eyes closing as he exhales with a loopy smile pulling on the corners of his mouth.
The words roll around in your dry mouth as you press him with another question, “Is it ‘cause my tits are in your face?”
“That's a reason. A pretty good one actually," He pauses to take another hit. "But not the reason.”
“Then why?”
Eddie is slow to respond, you can’t tell if he forgot your question or if he’s thinking of an answer. Your own mind buzzes until you’ve almost forgotten your initial question.
“Well,” He turns to you with bloodshot eyes and a boyish grin. “Why don’t I show you?”
That’s how you end up in your current position – sitting on top of Eddie with your cunt stretched out on his cock, facing away from him and towards the dirty mirror hanging on his bedroom wall. His hands cover your chest, his fingers circling and tweaking your nipples. A shudder runs up your spine when Eddie mutters behind you, “You look so good like this.”
You hum a detached response, eyes briefly flickering up to look at your face before they fall down to the sight of his cock notched inside you. Eddie gives your nipples one more twist before his hands settle on your hips.
“Now, are you gonna start? You know this isn’t all we do.”
“I know…” Your words trail off as his fingers press into your skin to encourage you to push your hips back. You move forward to hold onto his thighs, but your eyes eyes still remain on the reflection of his cock inside you. You’re so wet that you’ve soaked his cock down to the patch of dark hair at his base. The small lamp in his room provides little lighting at night, but it’s enough to make his thighs shine from your wetness. You're sure he can feel it, too.
With thighs bracing, you raise yourself up before slowly sink down. The stretch of his cock is sharper than usual, spurred on by the reflection in front of you. Eddie's searing gaze doesn't help either. You catch glimpses of him in the mirror as you bounce on top of him. Up and down, he devours the sight of you struggling to contain him.
His hands tighten around your hips, aiding you as you move on top of him. It’s like you can feel him all the way up between your ribs. The feeling of fullness makes your eyes roll back into your skull.
“Hey, hey. Eyes open, sweetheart," He trails one hand up to hold your throat. He gives you a light squeeze to tempt you to open your eyes. "You wanted to know why I like you on top. You gotta watch.”
“Eddie–”
“Just watch, sweetheart.”
You bite down a whimper, but comply with his request. Your eyes peel open to follow his hand down from your neck to rest on your hips once again.
“There you go. Just keep your eyes open. You’ll understand, I promise."
This time you focus on scene in front of you, really focus this time. And it’s…beautiful. Not just where the both of you connect, but everywhere. Everything. You don’t expect this. Watching yourselves like this, you look perfect together. Your bodies are wrapped tight and close, limbs shifting against one another in unison.
Your hips rise in confidence, soft ripples traveling across your flesh, as your bodies move together.
“F–fuck, Eddie. Okay, get it. I get it!”
“I knew you would. So smart and so beautiful. And strong. Look at the way you move, sweetheart. It’s like we were made for each other.”
The amusement in his words has your calf muscles trembling from the effort of keeping yourself balanced and speared on his cock. You barely register one of his hands curling forward and down until his fingertips touch your clit. Your thighs jerk in surprise, the shock of the feeling making your movements halt.
“Eddie, fuck. I’m gonna cum. I–!” You’re babbling as Eddie plays with your clit.
“It’s okay,” He groans, as your pussy starts to tighten around him. “I’ve got you. Let go. Just keep watching, okay? This is my favorite part. Don't want you to miss it.”
Electric shocks run through your body as you watch the intimate image of sweaty limbs, trembling thighs, and wrecked expressions.
Messy, dirty, and so fucking addicting.
It’s when Eddie groans your name like it's both a sin and salvation when you finally let go. The heat from your release bursts and melts away any remaining strength in your legs. You collapse backwards, hitting Eddie’s soft chest with a thud. His own movements are quicker than yours, wrapping an arm across your chest to keep you in place as you ride out your orgasm.
As the roaring in your ears subsides, your brain starts to register your surroundings: the yellowing popcorn ceiling of Eddie's bedroom, the sticky sweat coating both your bodies, and Eddie murmuring to you again as he gently rocks up into your spasming cunt.
“Now do you get it? You look so fucking beautiful and I’m a selfish bastard. I wanna keep that view for myself.”

Eddie knew he protected his feelings to an extreme. He hurt people before they could hurt him. He refused to be close to anyone, people always left. He was horrible at relationships. The second he felt the walls caving in, he was out the door.
Not many people had good things to say about him, and he didn't give them opportunities to.
Y/N was a soft and polite girl. She was quiet but spoke passionately. Y/N didn't talk to many people, but no one had anything bad to say about her. Until Eddie Munson proved that theory wrong.
~~~
Y/N couldn't remember when her crush on Eddie surfaced, but he was all she could think about. They had some classes together, and he sat across the room but at her eye level. She could stare and daydream for as long as she wanted.
It took her weeks to get the courage to say something to him, but she was glad she did. Because after that, a friendship began.
She didn't want to scare him off with her feelings, so she settled for just being his friend first. She could get to know him and enjoy being with him without having it mean anything more.
Eddie actually really enjoyed having her around. He wasn't the best at letting anyone in, but something about her felt comforting and warm. His brain was able to shut off around her. Their friendship felt easy to him. He wasn't worried about impressing her or trying to be someone he wasn't. For once, he was able to be just friends with a girl.
They hung out mostly every day. The second school ended, she was in his van and they'd go to his trailer and watch random movies.
The one thing Y/N didn't think through, was how hard it was going to be to act like she wasn't falling for him. They kept everything at a friend level, and she wasn't sure if it was the best idea to push for more. Eddie was a loner, and she should be grateful she made it this far.
But the more they hung out, and the more he wrapped his arm around her shoulder during movies, she couldn't think straight. All she could think about was holding his hand and feeling his lips move against hers.
"What's going on in there?" Eddie's voice caused her to snap into reality. His finger lightly pushed on her forehead.
"Sorry, what?" She blushed, blinking as she moved her eyes away from Eddie's face.
"You were staring and barely moving. You seemed to be in deep thought. Penny for your thoughts?" He reached over and paused the movie. His full attention was on her as she gulped.
She didn't know what to say. There was no way she was going to confess how she felt about him. But maybe she should? He seemed to be more comfortable with her and he constantly was touching her in some type of way.
Oh for fucks sake, go for it
"I have a crush on this guy, and I can't get him out of my head." She whispered, she worried if she said it loud enough it would be more real.
Eddie wasn't sure what he felt, but it wasn't good. He almost felt hurt that she would admit that to his face. But why should he care, it wasn't like they were dating or that he even liked her that way.
"Oh, well. Why don't you ask him out?" Eddie said he tried to sound like he didn't care. He was helping a friend.
"I can't tell if he likes me back. I enjoy having him in my life and I don't want to scare him off."
"Yeah, that's fair. Maybe compliment him, get close, and lean in for a kiss. If he leans in, go for it." Eddie wanted to smack himself. He didn't want her perfect lips to be touching some loser. But again, he was just a friend and he didn't have a say in that.
"Okay, kinda like this?" She whispered, her heart racing out of her chest as she placed her palm on Eddie's thigh. The rough material of his jeans scratched against her skin as she softly moved her hand down to his knee and then back up again.
Eddie felt his breathing stop as she lingered on his thigh. He wanted to look away but her eyes had him in a daze. His stomach flipped and he hated the way he was slightly turned on. He can't be feeling like this, because then he would have to admit he felt something. He searched his brain for an escape, he tried to move his legs but he was paralyzed.
All he could do was watch in horror as she leaned in. Her eyes searched his as she moved closer, her mouth inches away from his.
"Then I'd kiss him, right?" She whispered against his lips, and before he knew it he leaned in.
She felt the weight off of her shoulders as her lips crashed on his. Her eyes closed as she savored the feeling of his soft lips against hers. Her head spun as he gripped her waist and kissed her back. Her thoughts were gone as their kiss deepened. Her hands moved up his thigh, to his chest then around his neck, he pushed her body against his. He swallowed her moans as his tongue licked her bottom lip. She didn't think twice about opening her mouth to allow his tongue to touch hers.
The moment was perfect
The moment was everything she dreamed
It was everything she needed to say the words
She pulled away breathing heavily, and her eyes fluttered open. Eddie slowly blinked, like he wasn't sure where he was as he stared at her.
Then something snapped.
His hands yanked her arms off of him and he flew off the couch. He paced fire into the floor as he walked back and forth.
"What the fuck was that!"
Y/N was taken aback by how angry he sounded. She nervously tried to form an answer.
"I did what you said." Her voice was calm but confused. "I like you, Eddie."
Her words glued his feet to the floor. He was stuck, his feet felt too heavy to pick up as his breathing picked up.
He felt it
He felt the walls caving in. The room got smaller as he struggled to breathe. Her eyes haunted him as she watched. He felt like his body was being crushed between two walls and he couldn't push them apart.
"Well don't," he spat out harshly. She felt her body flinch as his eyes glared down at her. "I mean what is wrong with you? Why did you have to fuck up the friendship we had?"
She really did not understand why he was so angry. Even if he didn't like her, that wouldn't cause him to be so agitated.
"I'm sorry, I thought you wanted me to! You didn't move my hand, and you leaned in. And you kissed me back. I mean you deepened the kiss. I thought that meant you liked me too" She apologized. She worried she might have made him uncomfortable.
"Why would I like you too? What possible idiotic theory are you basing that on?"
She tried not to cry as she stood up. She wasn't sure who the hell was across from her, because it was not the sweet boy she spent her time with.
"Why are you acting like this? I said I was sorry."
"Because I know if I allow myself to have feelings for you, you'll be the one I spend the rest of my life with," Eddie confessed, and that scared him the most.
"Would that be so bad? I know it's scary, but don't you think we should try?" She asked, she slowly moved closer to him. Her hand softly cradled his face.
Her touch turned him into ice. It was all too much and he needed her gone. He needed her out of his mind, his sight, and his life.
"Yes because I'll have to live with the regret of choosing you."
Y/N yanked her hand off of his face like he burned her. She felt like the air was kicked out of her lungs.
"Fuck you," she spat as hot tears rolled down her face. She turned around to grab her jacket off the couch. She didn't bother putting it on, she slammed the door behind her as she left.
The loud bang echoed through the trailer as the walls moved back to their normal distance. Eddie could feel the air returning to his lungs as he dropped to the floor.
He escaped
But he wasn't sure how long the escaping would feel like freedom.
~~~
Eddie figured if she was out of sight, she'd be out of his mind
But he was wrong
She never left his head. Images of her smiling and laughing. But also the image of her crying and leaving. It's been a few days and they haven't talked. He knew they wouldn't, but he didn't think he'd miss her.
He escaped but this time it felt different. It made him feel worse. There wasn't any relief on his shoulders anymore; bricks piled on until it was too heavy to even stand up.
He missed having a friend. He knew he handled the situation horribly, and he wanted to apologize for it.
~~~
Y/N tried to ignore how awful she felt. She was embarrassed and regretted ever telling Eddie she liked him. But at least he showed his true colors and she could begin moving on.
Y/N hadn't seen Eddie since the big blowout, and Monday approached faster than she wanted. She wasn't sure how seeing him would go, but she knew she would ignore him.
~
Eddie had never felt so nervous to pull up to school, a endless pit settled in his stomach as he walked through the parking lot. He kept his eye out for Y/N's car, he wasn't sure if he wanted to find it or not.
Without catching a glimpse of her, Eddie walked into the school. He planned to wait at her locker until she showed up.
~
Y/N rolled her eyes as Eddie stood at her locker.
"Move," She mumbled with a blank stare.
"Can we talk?" Eddie asked, his voice shaky.
"We are already talking more than I wanted, now move and leave me alone." The seriousness in her voice broke Eddie down a bit, but he knew he deserved it.
He nodded and walked off.
But he wasn't going to give up.
~
Y/N sat at their usual table, Eddie wasn't sure if he was welcome to sit or not. He took a deep breath and dropped his tray on the table. She looked up from her lunch and looked right back down.
Eddie coughed and picked at his tray. His eyes kept peeking up to look at her but her head was always down.
"I'm sorry for what I said," Eddie said but she didn't flinch. "It was wrong and you didn't deserve that."
Y/N let out a heavy sigh and stood up.
She looked Eddie straight in the eyes, he took a deep breath as he waited for her to speak.
But she didn't
She gathered her lunch and walked off.
~
Eddie tried to apologize every single day, he switched his words and tried to say what she needed to hear. A week of silence and he couldn't let it go further.
He knew what happened was because of his past trauma and he felt he needed to understand first. Maybe then he could give her an explanation. So, he began therapy.
Within a few appointments, he understood he pushed her away because he was in love with her.
~~~
Y/N finished writing in her journal when she heard a knock at her window. Her curtains were shut, so whoever knocked was a mystery. She slowly stood up and crept towards her window, she was a tad scared but figured a robber wouldn't be asking for entry.
She peeked through the tiny crack of her curtain and saw Eddie's familiar curls. He stood on the small balcony. She sighed and walked back to bed.
Eddie could see her shadow moving and frowned when her lap shut off. Her room was dark and he lost sight of her. But he would stay here all night if he needed to.
He knocked again and called her name, but no response.
Y/N groaned annoyed at the constant knocks, but still remained in bed.
"I'm sorry. I know I fucked up and I might not ever make this up to you. But I figured out why I reacted that way."
His words made Y/N's ears perk, and she sat up in bed.
"I pushed you away because people always left. The people that I cared for, the people I loved. When you kissed me, I loved it. I felt complete like that emptiness those people left was filled by you. So I panicked, I wanted to leave before you left me. Which was wrong. Because I shouldn't have turned on someone that I love."
Y/N gasped as the final words left his lips. She had to pick between her pride and her heart. And she wasn't positive which one led her in the right direction.
"Can I just see you?" his knock was lighter than the rest, and his voice sounded like he was on the cliff of giving up.
She got out of bed and walked to her window. She pulled back the curtain and opened her window. Eddie smiled as he saw her face.
"Hi," he whispered, afraid to speak louder and frighten her.
"Are you saying you are in love with me?"
"I'm trying to, yes. And I don't expect that to fi-"
Eddie was cut off as Y/N captured his lips in a kiss. Eddie didn't hesitate and kissed her back.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he leaned further in the window. Half his body leaned into her room as he chased her lips as she pulled away.
"It doesn't fix everything but I'm ready to forgive you and we'll fix it together." She said against his lips.
"Thank you," he whispered before he connected their lips again.

Wanna Bet?
Tumblr media
tattoo artist!eddie x fem!tattoo artist!reader
word count: 2.7k
cw: MDNI 18+ smut (p in v), Eddie receives a handjob, oral (m receiving), hurt no comfort
Part Four
Your kiss with Eddie had been plaguing your mind since it happened. You couldn’t stop thinking about how soft his lips were and his hand placement. You regretted not taking him up on his invitation to go back to his van, now wishing that you finally knew what he felt like inside you.
You needed him, but there was no way you were going to give up the chance to tattoo the most embarrassing thing on him. It would be on his thigh so when girls pulled down his pants, they would laugh and then leave him alone with nothing but his hand to take care of the job.
Your need to sleep with Eddie was starting to outweigh your need to win and you were starting to feel pathetic. You had only kissed him once and you were already starting to feel hypnotized. Like you'd do anything he asked because the words had come out of his mouth. One look into those pretty brown eyes and you were always a goner.
You entered the shop and made a beeline for Eddie’s office, Steve hot on your heels. He had loaned you a DVD and still hadn’t gotten it back so he had been badgering you about it every time he saw you. If you were being honest, you had no idea where it was and hadn’t even been looking for it because you had been a little distracted.
“Hey, y/n,” he called after you and you turned around just as you were about to knock on Eddie’s office door. Steve made his way towards you and you tried to not seem annoyed. Couldn’t he see that you were busy?
“Hey, Stevie!” You greeted, maybe a little too enthusiastically. You were trying to not seem obvious about what you were doing, but why else would you have gone down the hallway?
“Have you gotten a chance to look for that movie? I’d really like it back.” He crossed his arms over his chest in an attempt to look intimidating, but you just laughed at him. He couldn’t intimidate you if he tried.
“Sorry, no. I’ve been busy with job applications and such, but I promise I’ll get it back to you. I swear.” You were willing to say anything to get him to go away even if that meant lying straight to his face.
“Good, good,” he nodded, then stepped closer to you. “What are you doing back here?” He looked around the very empty hallway and you supposed it was a good question. You never came to the shop and when you did, you didn’t go down that hallway. “The only thing that’s back here is-“ he cut himself off when he turned to Eddie’s office door.
“Oh no, not you too, y/n.” He shook his head in disappointment. He really thought you had been different and now that he knew that you were like every other girl, he was starting to think differently of you.
“What are you talking about?” Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Like always, you had no idea what he was talking about, noticing that the man would just say whatever came to mind whenever he was talking to you.
“You’ve been dickmatized,” he rested his hands on your shoulders, looking at you intently. It was as if he was giving you a very serious diagnosis as he was saying the words. “But don't worry, I can help.” He seemed worried, like the idea of you sleeping with Eddie was the worst thing that could have ever happened.
“Dickmatized?” Now you really didn’t know what he was talking about. You had never heard that word in your life.
“Yeah, dickmatized. Hypnotized by his dick.” He was very right. You had been dickmatized and you hadn’t even seen Eddie’s dick. But you were about to and Steve definitely didn’t need to know that.
“Steve, Eddie and I haven’t fucked, not that it would be your business if we had. I’m just here to pay him back for drinks the other night.” You pulled a twenty out of your pocket as your proof and he seemed to believe it.
“Oh.” He let go of your shoulders and let out a sigh of relief. “Thank god. Thought I’d lost another one.” He reached up and clapped you on the back. “Good for you, y/n. You didn’t give into him and I’m proud of you. Well, I should get back to work, but I’ll see you around?”
“Yeah, Steve, see you around.” You waved, trying your best to stay calm. The man had been driving your crazy and you just wanted him to leave you the fuck alone for once.
He turned on his heel and headed to the door that was at the end of the hall. Once it was closed, you feverishly knocked on Eddie’s door, hoping that Steve wasn’t going to come back. The door was ripped open and Eddie’s eyes widened as his locked on yours. Before he could say anything, you pushed him inside and slammed the door behind you.
Before you could stop yourself, you pressed your lips to his and he was quick to return your kiss, the whole thing rushed and messy. Your arms wrapped around his waist while his went to your shoulders, pulling you flush to his body, leaving no space between the two of you.
He licked into your mouth and your lips wrapped around his tongue, giving it a suck, eliciting a whimper to fall from his lips. You gave it one more rough suck then placed your lips back on his, letting one of your hands move around to his front. It slid down his shirt until you got to the top of jeans. You took no time to stick your hand down it, on a search for his dick. Once you found it, you wrapped your hand around it and gave it a few slow pumps.
“Oh,” he moaned and you moved a little faster, only causing him to moan even more. The sounds he was making were so hot, causing your underwear to dampen as you heard them.
“Yeah? You like that?” You asked, moving the fastest you could and his forehead fell to your shoulder as even more moans fell from his mouth.
“So good.” You gave a few more pumps then removed your hand from his pants. Your lips were back on his in a flash and you backed him up until his back hit the desk, his hands resting on it so he wouldn’t fall.
“I can take care of that for you,” you looked down at the tent in his pants and his eyes followed yours. He nodded his head enthusiastically and you dropped to your knees, unbuttoning his jeans and pulling both them and his underwear down, letting them hit his ankles. You stared at his cock that was right in front of you and couldn’t help but notice how big it was. Cum was pouring from the tip and you looked up at him, a flirty look on your face.
“It’s so nice of you to do all of this for me, baby. Practically creamed your pants, huh?” Your hand wrapped around the base and you took him into your mouth giving his dick a suck while your tongue swirled around the head. Eddie’s hands gripped onto the edge of the desk, his knuckles turning white as he threw his head back at the pleasure he was experiencing.
“Shit,” he moaned, his breath becoming heavy. He closed his eyes, trying hard to prevent his knees from buckling.
You continued to suck, taking all of him into your mouth, ignoring the fact that your eyes were watering, desperate to give him the best head of his life. Your tongue swiped along the tip another time as you sucked the hardest you could, eliciting the prettiest sounds from Eddie.
After a few more moans, you removed Eddie’s cock from your mouth and swallowed before standing back up, Eddie pulling his shirt off as you did so. You then moved around to his desk and rifled through the drawers for a condom and found that they littered the bottom left drawer. You grabbed one, not even bothering to close the drawer before you headed back to Eddie. You handed the condom to him and he fiddled with the packet, but eventually got it open. He then went to roll it on, but you stopped him before you could.
“Can I do it?” You asked and without a word, Eddie handed the thing to you. You rolled it onto his cock then quickly removed your clothes before Eddie’s mouth was on yours again, his tongue making its way into your mouth as he pushed you against the wall before slamming his dick into you.
“Shit, Eddie.” No one had ever been that rough with you before and you’d have been lying if you said you didn’t like it. The way his fingers were practically forming bruises with how hard they were digging into your waist.
“I know, sweet thing.” His hands gripped your hips as he pounded into you, causing you to let out the prettiest, loudest moans and Eddie was so grateful that he had finally made the room soundproof so his “meetings” didn’t disrupt the rest of the shop anymore.
“Just so you know, this isn’t part of the bet.” Eddie honestly hadn’t even been thinking about that. The only thing on his mind was how much he was enjoying himself. He had honestly forgotten about the bet until you had brought it up.
“Of course it’s not. Just couldn’t resist me, could you?” He pounded into you once more, this time harder and faster.
“Oh-” you moaned. “And you couldn’t resist me either. Which makes sense, since I’m smokin’, right?” Your hands wound into his hair at the back of his head as you buried your face into his neck and he thrusted and thrusted into you, moans that had fallen from your lips being the only thing that could be heard throughout the room.
“So smokin’, like you have no idea.” His hands moved to your ass and gripped the spot right under it. You took that as an invitation to wrap your legs around his waist which gave his dick more access to your cunt. He continued to pump in and out of you, pumping the hardest he ever could and you moaned louder than you ever have before, vowing to never tell Eddie that it had been the best sex of your life.
Once he had pulled out, you both cleaned yourself up and got dressed, trying your best to make yourselves look like you hadn’t just had sex in Eddie’s office, even though it was going to be pretty obvious to everyone that you had since that was one of the only reasons that people had gone in there.
You pulled your compact mirror out of your back pocket and fixed your hair, making sure it didn’t look like a fucking mess before you left. Eddie watched you as he leaned against his desk, already trying to figure out ways to get you to fuck him again. Outside of the bet, of course. He wanted to keep it going for as long as he could, because he knew that you’d want nothing to do with him as soon as it was over.
He hated to admit it, but he liked spending time with you. He liked your quick quips and how you didn’t fall at his feet like other women did. And he didn’t even see you as a challenge anymore. You were no longer someone who he just wanted to sleep with and never call again. In fact, he wanted you to be the only person he called.
His heart raced in his chest as he had that realization and decided that he needed to call the whole thing off. No fucking way was he falling for you. He couldn’t. That would ruin his whole thing. His whore tendencies had already been put to a halt when he started the whole bet with you and he wasn’t going to let you take the only pleasure he had in life away from him.
“Well, I’m going to head out,” you said, pulling him out of his thoughts. Thank god. He couldn’t look at you anymore without wanting to pull you into his arms for a romantic kiss. What the fuck was wrong with him?
“Okay,” he replied a little too quickly as you buttoned up your shirt and he couldn’t help but want to help you. He was starting to feel disgusted with himself. He was turning into the kind of guys he made fun of. Only pussies fell in love and Eddie was most definitely not a pussy.
He stood from the desk and rested a hand on your back, ushering you to the door, so desperate for you to leave. He couldn’t look at or be around you anymore. He was getting a weird feeling in his stomach and it was making him sick.
“What are you doing?” You asked as he opened the door in a rush. He was acting weirder than usual. Maybe he was just like Steve had accused him of being when you had overheard their conversation. You didn’t know why you cared since you had been using him as well, but you couldn’t help but feel a little hurt that he was so quick to just kick you out.
“I’ve got a client coming in and you don’t want to be here when they get here, do you?” Eddie was definitely patting himself on the back for coming up with that lie on the spot.
“I guess not,” you shrugged as he practically pushed you out of the office. You turned to say something, but you could see the door swinging in your direction.
“Great,” he replied, slamming the door in your face, not even letting you get a word in. What the fuck was wrong with him?
“Dick!” You called after him then stomped down the hall. You pulled the door open and didn’t even bother closing it as you headed to your car. You muttered a bunch of rude things under your breath as you unlocked the door. Once you were inside, you slammed the door and cranked the car before speeding out of the parking lot.
You couldn’t believe that you had been stupid enough to think that he actually liked you. He was so sweet to you at the bar and then after he fucked you, he turned right back into the asshole you knew him to be. You were definitely calling off the bet now. There was no way you were going to see him after that. Not after he practically ripped your heart out of your chest and stomped on it.
You felt like a goddamn idiot for actually trusting him. For thinking that he was anything other than the loser that showered women with his sweet words only to sleep with them and never call even though he swore up and down that he would.
As soon as you were out of the room, Eddie pressed himself against the door and slid down it, falling to the floor. He rubbed his hands roughly along his face, now feeling like an absolute dick for kicking you out like that. You were definitely never going to want to talk to him again and maybe that was a good thing. He couldn’t be your boyfriend. He didn’t do that, even though he kind of wanted to for you.
He found himself wanting to take you out on a date where you laughed at his jokes and shared your meals with each other. He found himself wanting to dress up in a suit and take you to a nice restaurant where he could wine and dine you. Where he could rest his hand on top of yours and tell you just how pretty he thought you were.
But he’d never do that. He was going to deny that shit until the day he died. He’d bury it so deep until he couldn’t even remember that he could even possess those kinds of feelings. The whole thing was so embarrassing and he’d be damned if anyone found out. As far as Eddie was concerned, he was going to take his crush on you to the grave.

“So what did you think of the class?” “It was…good…nice yeah…you looked good…really uhm good…yeah…” “thank you….but I meant did you think it helped you at all?” “Oh right…yes…I did uh…learn some good stuff and I think if I took a few more classes I’d feel a little better about uhm…being home…alone more.” “Well you’re more than welcome to come to the next one or…even just a regular kick boxing class if you’re interested?” “Oh that sounds fun…uh where…are we going? This is-” “where I grew up…” “you grew up here?” “Yup…right…here actually…” “it looks nice…is that the van you’ve been working on?” “Yeah that’s her…she’s nearly done…would you like to go inside?” “Oh uhm yeah yeah…let’s go.”
“This isn’t what I was expecting the inside of this trailer to look like.” “I had it upgraded last year…but something tells me you would’ve liked the way it looked originally…” “how did it look? Not that this isn’t nice…it’s very well done whoever did it-” “I did…I didn’t want anyone else to mess with it…so I just did it when I had time….took me a while but it was worth it.” “You like doing things yourself don’t you?” “Only important things…like this…and the van…” “and Dave…you fixed him yourself.” “Well he’s pretty important isn’t he?” “I think so…but you really grew up here? Was it just you and your parents?” “Me and my dad yeah…Wayne.” “Wayne? That’s a good name for a dad…I like that name.” “It is a good name isn’t it? That’s why I named the garage after him…it felt like a name people would trust leaving their car at…he was a great mechanic…taught me everything I know.” “I agree…naming the garage Wayne’s Auto Shop was a smart choice…that’s a huge reason why I started taking Dave there.” “That makes sense…I think you and him would’ve gotten along really well.” “How long has he uhm….been gone?” “About three years…but uh feel free to take a look around…” “Okay…I have your permission to be nosey?” “Yes…open all the drawers and snoop through all the cabinets you want to sweetheart it’s fine.” “If you say so…”
“Eddie?…Eddie is this…is this you?” “Oh yeah…yeah that’s me and the Hellfire club from high school…you know a few of those kids like that’s…Dustin…and Mike…and Lucas.” “That’s cool and all but is that your hair that’s down to your shoulders?” “Yeah…I used to have long hair for a while until I got tired of wearing it up for work so I just cut it….why do you look like you want to cry?” “You had…this beautiful hair and you just chopped it off?” “I mean I can grow it out again if…you want? I just got tired of it and wanted a change that’s all.” “You’d grow it out for me? Really?” “It’s just hair sweetheart…if you want it long then sure…I’ll let it get long…where did you find this picture anyway?” “In the back bedroom…can I ask…what are we doing here?…really?” “Uh well…I know you don’t feel comfortable being alone at your house…because of William and…I wanted to show you this place because if you want…you could…move in…” “I could move in here?” “If you want? William doesn’t know this place even exists so you’d be perfectly safe…not that you aren’t safe at your house now but I just want you to feel comfortable being alone…so just know this is an option if you want it.” “This is huge Eddie I couldn’t just…move in here…this is your house.” “Baby does it look like anyone lives here?” “No but…this is where you grew up and you probably have tons of memories here and-” “I do…I have lots of great memories of living here…but I took those memories with me when I moved out a long time ago…so now you can come in and make some of your own…in a place that you feel comfortable and safe in…because I know everyone in this park so trust me…you’ll be safe here.” “I’ll think about it…” “okay…that’s totally fine take all the time you need.”
“So…this is the van huh? She’s nice…smells like weed in the back though…” “That’s probably because I used to drive this around to make drug deals at house parties and offered customers the back seat to get high in for an extra fee.” “Ah so you’ve always been a business man then?” “Oh yeah….I’ve always found a way to make a living..now I just do it legally.” “Steven told me you used to be an asshole….is that true?” “I was an angry teenager…I used to be mean to people before they got the chance to be mean to me so yeah…I was an asshole.” “I can’t imagine you being mean on purpose…” “Well good thing you didn’t know me back then sweetheart because I probably would’ve made you cry…Wayne always used to get on my ass about the way I treated girls…” “really? But you’re…you’re so…amazing?” “Now I am…because I finally became the man I was meant to be instead of the one I thought I wanted to be…” “and that’s because of Wayne?” “Yeah…we had a rough few years right before I graduated high school…I used to just yell at him and he’d stand there and take it…and then he’d just hold me while I cried and told him I was sorry…he always used to tell me he knows the man I can be if I’d only stop fighting it…so I just…stopped fighting it.” “Well thank god for Wayne because…I quite like the man you are right now…” “yeah…thank god for Wayne…ready to go sweetheart?” “Yeah…I’m ready…thanks for bringing me here Eddie.” “You’re welcome…thanks for listening.” “Anytime…I like listening to you talk about your dad and your wild high school days.”

Tonight was finally the night.
The last dreadful day of school before spring break, thank god. For another seven days you would be able to stay up late, sleep in, hang out with the guys, smoke, put a dent into the list of movies Jeff and Gareth had been making for you to watch before you die, and maybe finally dive into that stack of books next to your nightstand that you’ve been putting off reading. All the while you’d have full accessibility to the house while your parents were on vacation for a little spring break of their own.
It would be bliss. Save for the few shifts at work during the week, but it was a sacrifice you’d be willing to make for all that extra free time.
You had finally sat down after a shower, your hair still damp at your shoulders as you sat on the couch with a bag of chips at your side and a can of pop waiting to be opened at the living room table, you reached for the remote and as soon as you clicked the power button you could hear the incessant ringing of the telephone. As much as you wanted to ignore it and let it ring, something just didn’t feel right.
There was something that washed over you as you glanced down the hall at the phone on the wall, and just couldn’t help but carefully wander down to pick it up. Your heart dropped into the pit of your stomach before you could even say anything.
Eddie was at the other end. Crying, hyperventilating, and you could just hear his panicked pacing through his quick speech. It took a moment for you to even realize what was happening before finally speaking up,
“Eddie! Eddie, calm down, i can’t understand you. What’s wrong? What happened?”
“I don’t know!” He shouted into the phone between sobs, “I was in my bedroom and then walked out and she was acting so strange and then she started floating and-“ He couldn’t finish. Whatever it was that had happened, you knew it wasn’t something that could be fixed with him calming down.
“Ok, it’s ok, you don’t have to tell me. I know you’re really scared right now, i’m here for you ok.”
“(y/n), i don’t know what to do…” He cried out, and it was heartbreaking hearing just how badly he was hurting without even knowing what was going on. The mystery of it all was panic inducing enough for you, you couldn’t imagine how Eddie was feeling on the other end.
“Eddie, i need you to listen very carefully to me, ok? I want you take a deep breath, i want you to get your keys, and i want you to drive over here. Don’t bother with going home, don’t bother grabbing anything or stopping anywhere, get over here now. I don’t know what the situation is but i can tell that whatever it is, it isn’t safe.”
He said not another word, and you heard the click of the phone on the other end, the disconnect tone playing in your ear wasn’t helping the situation.
Within minutes you could hear the screeching tires of Eddie’s van pull into your driveway. You watched from the front window as he struggled to pull the keys from the ignition, rushing to get out as fast as he could. When he saw you carefully open the door for him he couldn’t help but run to you, wrapping his arms around you in a tight embrace, his head buried in your chest and you could hear the slow sobs start once more.
“Ok, it’s ok. Shh, it’s ok…” You still had no idea what was happening.
All you knew was that Eddie was here, crying, panicked, scared, and he needed you.
You quickly shut the front door, clicking the lock and moving your arms around him once more, one hand moving to cradle the back of his head as you felt his tears start to soak through your shirt.
He was trembling, cold to the touch, and you were terrified not knowing what on this earth had made him feel this way. He was in a state that you had never seen him in before, and as painful as it was to not bombard him with every question you had floating around in your brain about what could possibly be making him like this, you let him be. He needed time, and what he needed now was someone to make him feel right again.
The moment you heard the sobs start to quiet and his breathing became slower, you carefully pulled yourself away, hand still on the back of his head to comfort him as his arms never left your sides,
“Shh, it’s alright. Take a few deep breaths ok?”
Eddie looked up to you and nodded, his bloodshot eyes slowly closing as he took a few shaky deep breaths. Your hands moved to his cheeks, wiping away the few stray tears that slipped through.
“You don’t have to tell me what happened right now,” Eddie opened his eyes as you held his cheeks, “but i need to know if you’re hurt, or if someone else is hurt…” You looked down to his Hellfire Club shirt, spotting a few stray droplets of blood, but Eddie seemed to be physically fine.
“Someone else…” The thought of whatever had happened made him muster up another quick sob.
“I’m glad you’re ok. We’ll worry about that in a little bit ok, right now let’s stand you up.” He nodded once more and your arms moved to hold onto his, trying to give him a reassuring smile as he did his best to slow his breathing back to normal, “Let’s go get you cleaned up, come with me.”
You still held onto his arm as you led him upstairs. This wasn’t the first time he had come over, he knew the layout of your home well, but you wouldn’t dare leave his side while he was in this state.
You slowly walked him down the hall and into the bathroom, letting him carefully sit on the toilet as you leaned over and fidgeted with the knobs for the faucet. Eddie leaned over, his elbows at his knees, palms at his forehead. His breathing had slowed finally, but he was quiet. You reached your hand beneath the faucet and once the water felt warm enough you pulled the curtain and started the shower for him, kneeling on the floor before him.
“Eddie?” He slowly moved his hands and looked to you, eyes still bloodshot with swollen cheeks from all the tears he had shed, “I know that whatever it is you’re going through isn’t easy, but all i want to do is help you. You know that right?”
He was still silent, but nodded.
“Take a shower, clean yourself up. I promise i’ll be nearby the whole time, and i’m going to come back in a few minutes with a towel and pajamas for you, ok?”
He nodded again, and you gave him another smile as you stood. You pushed the hair aside on his forehead and placed a gentle kiss to the space, and it seemed that this finally got a reaction out of him. His lips twitched at the corners, and you could see he wanted to smile back to you but he was just so exhausted.
You left the bathroom and shut the door behind you, standing there for just a moment to listen for anything. As soon as you heard a bit of shuffling and his clothes hitting the floor you smiled to yourself and wandered to the hall closet, grabbing a towel and then heading into your parents room to steal a pair of your dads pajama pants and an extra shirt for Eddie to change into. They’d be oversized and probably a little uncomfortable but they were better than nothing.
You walked back to the bathroom door, towel and clothes in hand, and waited. After a deep breath, and a quick shake just to get your nerves in place, your gently rapped your knuckles at the door,
“Eddie?” You opened the door just a crack, “I’m coming in, ok?”
You only heard a groan from him, but it was enough for you to enter once again. You saw his clothes piled up on the floor and placed the towel on top of the toilet, the extra pajamas on the counter. You could hear a few sounds from him through the curtain, a few groans and it sounded like he was doing his best to keep his composure. You left him to his business, grabbing his clothes off of the floor and quickly folding them into a pile and carrying them out with you, save for his underwear that you left with the extra pajamas for him.
“I’ll be in my room ok? Take all the time you need and i’ll be there when you’re done.” You said before stepping back out into the hall and softly closing the door behind you.
With one more deep breath you walked to your bedroom door, flicking the light switch on and leaving the door open for Eddie whenever he was finished and ready to come in. His clothes were placed on top of your dresser and you quickly wandered around to grab a few things for him. Extra pillow and blanket, a hair brush and some detangling solution, and you grabbed a few small snacks from your munchies stash under your bed for him to snack on. You didn’t know what he would’ve needed, but it was a good idea to be prepared for anything.
As you sat on your bed waiting for him you reached for the remote and switched on your TV, you heard the floorboards creaking at your door. Eddie was standing there in your doorway, towel in hand with his wet hair soaking the shoulders of the oversized shirt.
“Hey, come on in, close the door behind you.” You smiled to him, standing up and approaching him slowly, “Here, you take this, and i’ll take that,” You had handed him the TV remote and took the towel from his hands, leading him to the end of your bed, “you sit and find something to watch. Let me deal with your hair, i know you like how gentle i am with it.”
Eddie finally gave you a smile. A small one, but it was something. He sat at the end of your bed and you sat behind him on the mattress, reaching over and grabbing their hairbrush and detangler before lifting his wet hair and draping the towel over his shoulders.
He finally seemed calm as you sprayed the fruity scented detangler into his hair, gently brushing at the end in small sections as he finally found a channel to settle on. It was one of the local public access channels that showed old music videos while the host talked about all his favorite parts from the video afterwards. Music was always his happy place.
Eddie breathed deeply, quietly, sitting there before you with his eyes on the tv while you gently brushed his hair. He was always so grateful to have you to turn to when he wasn’t ok. Though it was odd to see him like this.
You had seen him cry when he was panicked over having to repeat another school year, you had seen him scared after Wayne found out he had swiped a few cans of beer from the fridge, but this was something new. This was a different kind of fear. He wasn’t trying to brave this one out and take it on the chest like he had before. It was like he had reverted to a scared little boy with no clue what to do or who to turn to. This was something he couldn’t face alone and he knew you knew that now.
You kept quiet as you finished with his hair, setting the brush down next to you and using the towel to scrunch his curls, gently pulling it off of his shoulders and bringing it to your hamper. He didn’t move as you went to sit next to him, only turning to you as you nudged his shoulder to grab his attention.
His face was still slightly puffy from the tears he had shed, his eyes were slightly pink, but his breathing was normal and that you were grateful for.
“Are you ok?”
His eyes wandered away from yours and he shook his head gently, still not speaking.
“Eddie, i know you might not think i’ll understand whatever it is you’re going through, but i want to understand. Please…” You moved yourself to sit in front of him, his view of the TV blocked by your form, “I just want to know what happened.”
Eddie clenched his eyes shut and took a deep breath, and as he opened his eyes they began to water once more,
“You won’t believe me…” He choked out.
You stood for a moment and quickly ran over to your nightstand, grabbing the box of tissues for him to use whenever he needed them.
“Yes i will.” You reassured him. “Eddie, i know you wouldn’t lie to me, but i don’t know what’s going to happen if you don’t tell me. You said someone else was hurt and i saw the blood on your clothes… If you did something-“
“I didn’t do anything!” He shouted, cutting you off mid-sentence.
You sat back on your legs and reached over to turn down the volume on the TV, sitting and waiting patiently for Eddie to be ready to finally tell you what the cause of all his panic was. You could sense that he was ready, it was just hard to find the words.
With one last deep breath he looked down at his hands in his lap,
“I was at the trailer with Chrissy, i met her after school and she said she was going through some stuff. Asked for something strong. I left her in the living room while i went to look for it and when i came back she was acting… different.”
You tried to move closer to him but he backed himself away.
“Different how?” You asked.
His lip started to quiver and his eyes were shut tight again.
“She was just standing there… silent. Her eyes were rolled back and then her feet just lifted off of the ground, but not like she was floating, like someone had picked her up but there was nothing… no one…”
You gave him time. He needed patience, and you could see that whatever happened next was what caused him to act the way he was. He was terrified of something, someone, but he didn’t know what or who.
“I tried to wake her up and see if maybe she was just freaking out or something but…” His lip quivered as he tried to collect himself, but it was clear that this was an event he was having to relive every time he closed his eyes, “She floated up to the ceiling and it was like…” He started to hyperventilate again, and you inched closer, reaching out and gently grasping his arm, though this time he didn’t move away, “it was like something was inside her, breaking every bone in her body…” He couldn’t stop the flow of tears, and you couldn’t bear to have this go on any longer. Though it sounded crazy, Eddies reactions weren’t making it seem crazy.
“Ok, ok, you don’t have to tell me anymore, it’s alright.”
Eddie quickly wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you in close as he sobbed into your shoulder. You held him gently, slowly moving your fingers through his hair to try and comfort him. It always worked before.
“You don’t have to tell me any more…”
You said to him quietly, the music on the TV softly playing in the background was helping slightly to dull the horrific reaction Eddie was having to this memory.
A few moments had gone by, and though he was no where near better, his breathing was slowing and the tears were slowly stopping. Or maybe he just didn’t have any left in him.
“You think i’m crazy, don’t you?” He said through slow breaths.
“No.” You said plainly, “I don’t think you’re crazy Eddie. It sounds unreal but… with how you’ve been reacting i don’t see anything else making sense…”
It was an insane scene to think about. It sounded like something straight out of a horror movie, and those things were fine, they weren’t real. But this was. And Eddie was horrified.
“Did you call anyone else about this? Did you tell the guys or the police?”
“No…” He whimpered, hiding his head back into your shoulder, “I ran… I didn’t know what else to do or who else to go to…”
“Eddie,” You carefully lifted his face away from your shoulder, grabbing a tissue and wiping away the tears that trailed down his cheeks, “I know it’s scary, but you have to go to the police.”
“I can’t…”
“Yes you can.”
“I can’t, they’ll know i did it!” He shouted.
“You didn’t do anything!” You shouted back, quieting him once more, “I’ll go with you, i’ll vouch for you, i’ll say that you saw her earlier in the day and then you came over afterwards, i know you couldn’t have done something like this Eddie.”
“No.” He said it with no emotion between every word you were saying, “No, no, no. You are NOT lying to the police for me (y/n).”
“Then what are you going to do?”
Eddie was silent for a moment, sniffling as he recollected himself. He brought his knees up to his chest and looked down into his lap,
“I don’t know… They’re going to think it was me anyways…”
“Don’t say that!”
He could hear in your voice that talking about this was making you more and more worried for him. That’s the last thing he wanted.
“I’ll figure something out.”
You were quiet.
Neither of you were sure how to go about something like this.
You moved yourself to sit back next to him, your legs crossed in front of you as you fidgeted with your fingers in your lap. The quiet music on the TV was fading in and out and as the song played, somehow it managed to calm both your nerves, at least a little bit. You slowly leaned over and put your head onto his shoulder as you sat together, bringing your hand up to wipe away a single tear that had fallen from your eye. But of course once the first one started, it was difficult to stop. Eddie only noticed your tears after he heard a few muffled sniffles from next to him.
He looked over to you and saw the wetness at your cheeks and reached one arm around your shoulder to pull you in closer,
“Why are you crying?”
“Because,” Another sniffle as you reached up to wipe your eyes, “I’m worried about you…”
The corners of Eddie’s lips curled up into a small smile as he rested his head on top of yours,
“It’ll be alright… I promise.”
You silently nodded, looking up at him with a pursed smile through your wet eyes. You didn’t know if he would be alright, but Eddie wasn’t the type to lie. Especially not to you.
With a deep breath, you slowly shut your eyes and let out a yawn, Eddie catching it and doing it himself a moment later.
“Why don’t we get to bed?” You offered, “We’ll get everything figured out in the morning.”
Eddie nodded, slowly getting up and stretching his arms over his head as you stood up next to him.
You wandered over to your bed, grabbing a few pillows and holding them in your arms as you started to pull one of the blankets away for Eddie to use before he stopped you,
“Wait! Um…” He was hesitant for a moment, but you let him take his time, “Could i uh… If you’re ok with it-“
“Do you want to sleep in bed with me?” You cut him off, seeing that he was a bit uncomfortable at the thought of having to ask. He nodded and you smiled to him as you placed the pillows back into their spots, “Of course you can.”
You pulled the covers back to make room for him as he wandered to the other side of your bed. He’d stayed the night plenty of times before, but never like this. Just the two of you sharing a bed. The thought of it made his heart flutter, and maybe under different circumstances he might even consider it a romantic thing between you with the music helping the mood. But he was just happy that you cared so much for him.
He didn’t know if you liked him or not, but he knew that you loved each other.
“Go ahead and make yourself comfortable.” You fluffed up his pillows as he sat at the edge of your bed, grabbing the remote as you walked over to Eddie’s side, “Here. Put on anything you want, i’m going to go downstairs really quick and make sure everything is locked up ok?”
Eddie nodded as he took the remote from you, closing his eyes gently as you pushed his hair back from his forehead and placed a gentle kiss onto the skin,
“I’ll be right back, but just in case, you call me if you need me ok?”
He nodded once more, the corners of his lips curling into a smile as he watched you leave the room. The quiet music and the sound of your fading footsteps somehow made him forget about the incident. Or at least forget as much of it as he could.
He kept his attention on the TV, listening to the music play to get his mind off of everything else that had happened that night. He didn’t know what he was going to do, but he knew that he couldn’t have you getting hurt because of him too.
He looked at the remote in his hands and fidgeted with the buttons for a moment, looking back up at the door as he heard you enter the upstairs hallway and close your bedroom door behind you.
“All locked up.” You said with a smile.
Eddie smiled back and took a deep breath as he set the remote onto the nightstand next to your bed.
“Want to keep the TV on?” You asked as another song started to play.
Drive by The Cars.
Eddie nodded and pulled the covers up over himself, settling into bed, yet keeping his eyes on you. He needed to make sure he had you in his sight, just in case. You reached out and turned off the light switch, the glow from the TV softly illuminating your room.
It was strange.
You’d dreamt of a moment like this before.
Eddie in bed with you, safe and comforted, though you never had imagined it would happen like this.
You slowly walked over to your side of the bed, lifting the covers and laying yourself next to Eddie as he sat with his back against the pillows resting on the headboard. He had been staring at nothing and yet he seemed like he had been seeing everything at once. Glazed over with both fear and exhaustion. All you wanted to do was help, Eddie knew that, but a situation like this was so hard to read.
“Hey,” You said softly up to him, his head turning to look down to you, “lay down. I want to talk to you for a second, ok?”
Eddie slowly moved his body downward, lifting the covers up as he adjusted himself next to you, trying so desperately to keep himself at a respectful distance. His face was close to yours, noses so close to touching, and you could feel the warmth of his body as it lay close. Even in times like this he still kept so warm.
“I’m scared too… I don’t know what it is that you saw, but i promise you that i’ll do everything i can to make sure you’re safe.”
“(y/n), you don’t have to do that-“
“I do.” You cut him off sternly, “Eddie, i love you. I care about you. The only other time you’ve ever come to my house freaked out was when Wayne caught you swapping out his vodka because you didn’t know alcohol froze.” Eddie smiled to himself as he remembered that night, knowing he fully deserved his punishment for doing something that stupid, “Whatever happened, i know you didn’t do it. I know you. Do you have anywhere else you can stay? Some place safer?”
Eddie thought to himself for a moment. He didn’t know. He had a million things racing through his head, before finally looking to you and nodding his head. You were unsure of his answer, but you didn’t want to keep prying.
“I don’t want to tell you what to do Eddie, but you really need to tell someone what happened.” You reached your hand up and gently held his cheek, and you could see that though he didn’t know what he needed, he needed you to be there with him, “I just want you to be ok…”
He could hear the cracking of your voice, knowing how hard you were trying to hold back your emotions, but it was terrifying. For him, for you, and for god knows who else this may have happened to.
Eddie reached up and grasped your hand in his, holding it tightly as he looked to your eyes,
“I promise i’ll be ok.”
You couldn’t tell if he meant it, but you nodded as you looked to him. He wanted to be ok, and you knew he could take care of himself, but when Eddie needed help you knew it was serious. You just hoped he’d be able to come out of this unharmed.
Eddie took a deep breath and moved his hand to the back of your head, raising his lips and pressing a soft kiss to your forehead. His arms slowly wrapped around your body, pulling you in close, and as he moved himself closer to you it was clear he was starting to cry again. Softly. Quietly.
Your arms moved around him and held him tightly, one hand slowly moving through his hair as the other gently scratched over his shoulders to comfort him,
“Shh, it’s ok…” His quiet sobs and whimpers only made you hug him closer, “I’m right here with you, you’re safe, i promise…”
It would take a while before either of you would get any sleep, you figured as much when Eddie ran through your door and into your arms. He needed someone there and you were so happy to be the person he came to, wether you knew how to help him or not.
As you lay in each others arms, the slow song playing softly from the TV soon was able to lull you both to sleep.
Every now and then throughout the night, Eddie would wake up in a cold sweat, seeing the scene that had unfolded before his eyes earlier. He’d look around the room, see you sleeping so soundly in his arms, and he’d calm down.
He was safe where he was.

He's the wolf screaming lonely in the night He's the blood stain on the stage He's the tear in your eyes, been tempted by his lie He's the knife in your back, he's rage
May 25, 1985 - memorial day weekend
After escaping Hopper's bizarre scrutiny, you continued to walk, making your way out of the main square of downtown Hawkins.
You kept your eyes off your sneakers as you marched on - they were well-worn and comfortable. But they were dirty. Your once alabaster shoes were now scuffed and frayed. The shoelace on the left foot was barely hanging by a pathetic thread.
With everything else going on in your mind, it was easy to simply not look down at them. A part of you still couldn't help but be amused by it, though, knowing that only a year ago you would have died at the sight of these shoes.
You lit another cigarette and giggled to yourself. It was a gentle, happy sound on the empty street.
Several minutes later, the silence was beginning to be broken by the echoes of children laughing and playing nearby. The buzz of the power lines overhead rang in your ears, but you could still hear the water splashing. The diving board rattled every so often.
Hawkins Community Pool.
How did you not think of it before? It would be the perfect place for you to apply for a job. Sunshine, distractions, and not too far away from the motel until you could get a car.
The parking lot of the pool came into view, filled up with families taking their kids for Memorial Day weekend. You entered the main building, making eye contact with a smiling brunette at the front desk.
"Hi! How may I help you? Would you like to sign up for a pool pass?"
You didn't mean to flinch at the cheerful, high pitched voice. She looked very young - too young to recognize you from high school.
Quickly gathering yourself once you noticed the worried look on the girl's face, you gave her a shy smile.
"Um, no, actually. I was wondering if I could fill out an application?"
"Oh, yes. Of course. Let me go grab one."
The girl disappeared into a side office, her ponytail swinging behind her with every movement. You found yourself wishing you still had that kind of pep in your step.
After completing the short application, you collected your pamphlet on local lifeguard certification classes and thanked the girl at the desk. You left the bustling pool entrance, bumping shoulders with excited families and children.
As the sunlight hit your skin, you spotted a man at the far end of the parking lot, leaning against a blue Camaro.
Parked right next to him was a hauntingly familiar black van.
He'll be the love in your eyes, he'll be the blood between your thighs And then have you cry for more He'll put strength to the test, he'll put the thrill back in bed I'm sure you've heard it all before
"...all I'm saying is, I can't date a broad that has two different sized tits. It makes my dick confused."
Eddie rolled up the short sleeves of his white shirt to welcome more sunlight onto his pale skin. He chuckled at Billy's crazy rant about boobs.
The pair loitered in the parking lot of the community pool before Billy's first shift of the new season. The Munson boy leaned back in the open side door of his van, stretching his legs out on the pavement. Billy was applying sunscreen meticulously to himself.
"Maybe you could just have her keep a shirt on. So you don't have to see them," he suggested to his blonde friend. "Better yet, give her your shirt. Chicks dig that."
Billy pondered for a moment, looking around, his devious eyes hiding behind reflective sunglasses.
After many months of being almost best friends with Billy Hargrove, Eddie still wasn't sure how to take him. He was an unpredictable ticking time bomb. Some days he was entertaining and carefree, while the flip of a coin could turn him into a raging asshole.
Eddie had the faint scars to prove it - St. Patty's Day celebrations a couple months back ended in Billy breaking glass beer bottles on the street.
"You still seeing that neighbor girl of yours?" Billy asked out of nowhere.
Eddie twitched.
Billy was nosy as fuck. So of course, he knew about Eddie’s situation with Katrina. It was a cut-and-dry friends with benefits deal. So why was he asking Eddie about it now?
"Uh, yeah, occasionally. Why?"
With a calloused hand, Eddie lifted his long, overgrown hair off the back of his sweaty neck. He tried not to show Billy how uncomfortable the question made him and hid behind his own dark sunglasses.
But Billy was looking across the parking lot now, where Eddie couldn't see behind his van. Billy placed his mirror sunglasses atop his head and grinned wickedly at Eddie.
"You might want to rethink that. I'm pretty sure the Buckley girl you've been crying about all year is trying to hide from us over there."
Stomach dropping and vision blurring violently, Eddie shook his head. "Who? Robin?"
"No, don't be a fucking idiot, Munson. I wouldn't forget those nudie Polaroids you have to save my life. That's the girl. Look."
Unable to stop himself, Eddie slowly stood up to peer around the corner of his van.
Billy was right.
Walking away from them with an unusually fast pace was a woman with shiny hair, longer than he remembered. Your light blue blouse, matching the color of the sky above them, caught the glaring sunlight.
Eddie didn't think he could ever forget the sight of you, no matter how hard he tried, and now here you were. He even remembered the way you walked.
You glanced over your shoulder at them, clearly nervous. It was you.
"If you're not gonna go talk to her, then I will."
"Billy, the hell you're not! BILLY!"
But Billy had already sprinted off, his athletic body carrying him over to you rather quickly, even though you were many yards away. Eddie crawled back into his van, placing his head between his knees to control his breathing. The last thing he wanted to see was Billy chatting up his ex-girlfriend.
He felt like he was going to pass out. Why were you back? Why were you at the damn pool of all places?
Where had you been for the last fucking year?
In a sad attempt to calm his nerves before he fainted like a complete coward, Eddie reached underneath his driver's seat and pulled out a small bottle of vodka. He took several deep swallows of the harsh liquid.
Billy returned sooner than Eddie expected him to. He immediately snatched the bottle from the boy in the van, helping himself to some of the Eddie’s vodka.
"Aren't you about to, like, save children from drowning? Quit drinking all of my booze," Eddie snapped, a headache sinking deep into his skull.
Billy let out a bark of laughter, pleased with himself. "Don't you wanna know how that conversation just went?"
"No," Eddie responded firmly.
His tone was borderline seething, but as usual, Billy didn't pick up on it.
"Whatever, man," Billy smirked, gathering up his whistle lanyard and some other work stuff.
The lifeguard tucked away the bag of weed that Eddie had brought him into the glove box of his Camaro. It was the main reason Eddie met him at the stupid pool to begin with.
"So I'll assume you don't care that I gave her my number, then."
Eddie choked on his mouthful of vodka, fire burning in his throat and lungs. He leaned over to spit on the ground, then lifted the bottom of his shirt to wipe his face with it.
He ignored Billy's prying eyes on his momentarily exposed pale stomach, sighing. He was very much used to that kind of thing from the blonde boy. Boundaries didn't exactly exist with Billy.
"Well?" Billy pressed, pearly white teeth shining.
Fighting the urge to bitch slap his best friend for basically no reason, Eddie left his face expressionless.
"I don't care."
But as soon as Billy vanished into the main building of the pool, Eddie peeled off in his van, heading towards wherever you might have gone.
He'll be the risk in the kiss, might be anger on your lips Might run scared for the door But in seasons of wither we'll stand and deliver Be strong and laugh and...
He caught up with you about a block away. Before you could cross the street, Eddie whipped his van in front of you, stopping you in your tracks.
He tried to remain as nonchalant as possible, but failed horribly. The sound of blood pounding in his ears and a cold sweat developing on his hands was all he could comprehend as he laid eyes on you.
You were so close he could touch you. You only stood about a foot away from his open window, motionless, eyes wide.
Eddie almost wanted to pinch himself, but this wasn't a hallucination.
Sure, he had a little too much vodka only minutes before, but you were real this time. Not like the countless times before, when he would get blackout drunk and imagine you in his room, only to wake up with Katrina asleep beside him instead.
He thought you looked different than he remembered. Older. But not in a bad way. Gone were the days of round cheeks in more youthful years - you were all woman now, your bone structure matured as beautiful as a marble statue.
Eddie felt like he was looking at you for the first time. His mind was drifting back to that fateful day in the cafeteria, when you asked him about giving you a tattoo.
Unsure of how to begin this conversation, or exactly what kind of emotions he was even feeling, Eddie bit his lip.
But you beat him to it.
"Can I help you, freak?"
The boy in the van before you burst into loud, genuine laughter. Your voice was still as deep as the ocean, sweet like molasses.
"Get in the van and I'll tell you exactly how you can help me, sunshine."
"No."
You scowled at him and firmly planted your feet. But you didn't walk away.
"Fine," Eddie replied with a smile, stepping out of the van. "I'll come out of the van to talk to you."
"You're parked in the middle of the road."
"I don't care."
"You smell like vodka."
"I don't care."
He felt your bright eyes rake over him, not unlike how Billy did just moments ago. Eddie was desperate to read your mind, curious to know what you thought of him now.
Leaning against the door of his van, he gestured with a ring-clad hand. "So… how long have you been back in town?"
"I just got back this morning," you mumbled, crossing your arms.
"Where have you been? Why did you leave me?"
Eddie tried to keep the tone of his voice under control, struggling to maintain a mature conversation. Letting his repressed emotions spill out onto Spruce Street wasn't on his agenda for the day.
You kicked at some rocks on the ground near your feet. The Munson boy was very aware of how beat up your shoes were, but didn't say anything. It was obvious that you weren't doing well.
"I… I don't want to talk about that. Not now."
Taking a deep breath through his nose, Eddie spoke patiently. "You didn't call. You didn't write. Nothing."
"I'm sorry."
Eddie flinched at your puny, callous response. "That's all you have to say? Did I really mean that little to you?"
The anger bubbling at the edges of his words evoked the kind of response he wanted from you. Eddie was silently proud that he still knew how to push your buttons, to make you open up to him.
"I didn't have a choice!" you snapped, throwing your hands in the air. Your face reddened in frustration. "I didn't… I didn't have a choice."
"You say that like you were locked in some kind of reform school," Eddie joked, running a hand through his hair.
He was kidding, of course, but the look on your face as you dropped your chin told him he wasn't completely wrong. Eddie could see your hands were shaking.
"Are you serious?" He took a step towards you, but you jumped away from him as if he burned you.
You sighed. "I told you, I don't want to talk about it. But I didn't choose to leave, okay? I didn't choose to disappear for an entire year."
Still feeling a little angry at the lack of answers, at the suffering he endured for so many months, Eddie took one last jab.
"I deserved a better goodbye," he hissed behind clenched teeth.
Fury burned in your piercing gaze. "Yeah? You think? Well, you can thank my dear old dad for that."
"I should have killed him at that party when I had the chance."
You rolled your eyes. "Still as dramatic as ever. I don't think you're capable of killing anyone, Munson."
The corner of his mouth lifted. "I don't know if that's a compliment or an insult."
"Both, I suppose," you responded offhandedly.
Eddie didn't know what else to say. The sun was beating down on them; this particular street didn’t have enough trees to block the rays. The vodka he had consumed was making his empty stomach churn.
"I have to get back." You stepped away from him. "I'll see you around?"
"You're not staying with your dad are you?"
You snorted crudely, but Eddie thought it was a magical sound. "Hell no. I'm… staying at the motel on the edge of town. At least until I can get a job and my own place."
Of course Eddie knew the motel, because that was where Katrina worked. His stomach flipped over again. Him and Katrina weren't official by any means, and he couldn't find a logical reason now to bring up something like that to you.
You, the girl who had disappeared from his life like you were nothing more than an illusion. You were standing before him now, your eyes like cavernous orbs taking in his every movement, every word spilling from his lips.
His fucked up brain was reacting to this like you had passed away and then was somehow resurrected from the grave. An ethereal corpse.
Snapping him out of his hazy thoughts, your voice rang out like the singing of a bird.
"...Eddie?"
"What?"
"I was saying goodbye."
Eddie cracked his knuckles, checked his watch, then motioned for the van. "Let me drive you back over there. It's on the way to my place."
You looked apprehensive. "Are you sure? I can walk-"
"I'm positive," he interrupted with a lopsided smile. "Plus, Brenda here has missed you quite a bit. There's a lot of good memories in this old beater."
He ran around to the other side of the van to open the door for you, unable to stop his wandering eyes from admiring your bare legs. You smelled like soap mixed with a little bit of sweat from the hot day.
"I'm putting a lot of trust in you to get me there safely," you chuckled, clicking your seat belt into place. "It reeks of booze in here."
"I'm a skilled drunk driver these days."
Eddie glanced over at you as he put the van in drive. You seemed saddened by his comment, like you knew you had caused a lot of emotional damage in your wake without ever meaning to.
So he changed the subject. “Did you… take Billy’s number?”
You side-eyed Eddie, confused. “What?”
“The shirtless douche that went up to you a while ago. He said he gave you his number.”
Raised eyebrows, you reached into the pocket of your jean shorts and retrieved a crumpled piece of paper. “Yeah, I took it.”
Disappointment dripped onto his heart. Eddie had silently hoped that Billy was just trying to ruffle his feathers. Could he seriously be so cruel as to prowl on the girl who broke Eddie’s heart, without even a second thought? Maybe it was a grave mistake to consider Billy a friend, let alone a best friend.
But then you opened the paper and held it out for the brown-eyed boy to see.
“Wipe that look off your face, Munson. I already have this number, actually,” you lifted your mouth in a little smile. “He gave me your number.”
Shout, shout, shout! Shout at the devil! Shout, shout, shout! Shout at the devil!

Bear with me this goes between writing and just thoughts, I’m dealing with some eye issues so writing is hard right now 😩 but I had to get this out. Anyway this is rough but
I’ve been thinking about post season four reader.
One who can’t sleep without first daydreaming of Eddie, of his voice and his touch. The smile that lit up his face every time his eyes would land on you for the first time of the day, like you marked the beginning of the day and not the sun rising.
For the immediate few weeks after he’s gone you dream of what had been. Of dates you’d been on and moments you’d spent together; you linger in the last few days where everything had felt like it would be ok, where you still had forever. His voice was fresh in your memories, echoing in your mind more often than your own thoughts did.
That only lasts so long and eventually fantasies of what could have been take up the fleeting moments between twilight and dawn. You dream of his graduation, of the day you would have moved in together. You dream of the forever that you both had wanted.
Dreams of proposals and weddings and fixing up that van of his over and over because he’s too sentimental to give it up help fill, though just barely, that longing for more than what you’d been given.
But weeks turn into months and now it’s been three years without him and when you close your eyes to escape to the world you’ve created where he makes everything hurt less, you, for the very first time, realize his voice no longer comes out of the mouth talking to you. You think at first that you’re too tired to indulge in your daydreams but as the nights pass everything you conjure up just doesn’t seem right. Wasn’t his voice a little deeper? Didn’t his laugh have more timbre to its tone? He had dimples didn’t he?
That night you lay awake with the awareness that while time made things more bearable it had also taken his voice from you, not quite gone in its entirety but definitely warped from what it had been.
I imagine that it starts to show on your face, the bags under your eyes a sign each and every person in your group is all too familiar with. They know about the sleepless nights, the nightmares and anxiety because they’ve all dealt with it as well.
Dustin is the first one you confide in, the deep exhaustion sits on your shoulders like a weight and the moment he asks the words “are you ok?” Everything comes out, the way you’d been coping, how you dream of Eddie and the life you would have had together. Your voice cracking as you mention how you aren’t sure you remember what his voice sounded like.
Dustin not being all that good with crying does his best to pat you on the back and share a few things he’d been going through in an attempt to relate to you and help ground you. Mostly he just sits and listens until you’ve said all you need to and eventually go quiet and for you that’s more than enough.
Now hear me out.
You go to your car one day after visiting some of the others, a quick lunch where most of your schedules had managed to align. Nothing fancy, just a diner that kind of sat as the halfway point between where you all lived. When you open your car door you see a cassette tape on the drivers seat, it’s got a piece of paper with your name taped to it in Dustin’s handwriting and Eddie’s chicken scratch “tape 23” in sharpie on the actual tape. You’ve got it in and playing before you’ve even buckled up.
At first it’s some static, then the sound of some paper shuffling and finally you hear “Hellfire campaign number 23.” Followed by your laughter in the background mingling with the laugh track of whatever show you’d been watching. There’s a too long pause where you imagine he’s smiling over his shoulder at you enjoying the show before it picks up again. “Alright, let’s begin.”
I think Eddie liked to record more than just his music, most of his tapes are just mindless babbling as he bounces ideas around for himself to listen and pick through later for both songs and hellfire. I bet he’d record over old tapes too so some of them are a little wonky.
Anyway yeah that’s the idea. You forgetting Eddie’s voice and Dustin leaving a tape for you to remember it by.

Pre-relationship Steddie exchanging mix tapes for each other with pining, lovesick songs over and over again on each side. Handing them over to each other with hopes the other person will Pick Up On The Messages.
Eddie having corroded coffin over that night as a distraction from thinking about Steve listening to The Tape. It’s a pretty normal night except Eddie is crouching on the couch biting his nails and hissing, so actually yeah it’s a normal night. But the guys can tell something is up so Gareth and Jeff start rifling through Eddie’s tapes, hoping that some music will chill him out or get him hyped or just anything that isn’t what he’s doing right now. Ian is sitting by him and trying to start a conversation but it’s a fool’s errand.
So the tape goes in and the music starts and it feels like maybe Eddie will relax. But as the first song goes into the second he freezes. Stares wide eyed. Shushes everyone. Demands gareth skip to the next song, then the next. Oh no. Oh no.
Eddie grabs Jeff by the arm ‘Jeff. Dude. Please. Please tell me what’s written on the tape you put on’ wide eyed and unblinking.
‘Uh I don’t know man. Gareth get the tape out, yeah?’ Jeff asks with a blatantly confused face. And of course Gareth acquiesces, deciding not to escalate the situation for once in his life which Eddie is very grateful for.
And the tape? The tape is the Steve tape. The one Steve was supposed to have. Which is fine. Absolutely fine! It’s okay! Eddie can explain this away. He can, he’ll get his one back and it’ll be fine. Whatever is on the casette steve has can’t be that bad, it just can’t be.
——
The next day Eddie goes to family video. Plays it cool, hopes to earn a smile out of Steve. Maybe a laugh if he’s lucky. Only Steve’s kind of jumpy? Normally he gives a wave and a wink that he’s Eddie struggling to stay upright. This time? This time he’s struggling to make eye contact and blushing? Weird. Maybe he’s sick. Eddie should make him soup.
‘Hey Steve. Stevie. Stev-o’ he’s at the counter now, tapping on it trying to hide his nerves. And Steve is smiling at him, properly smiling, this is nice. Steve should always be smiling.
‘I listened to the tape’ Steve says with a bashful giggle and Eddie loves the way it sounds falling from Steve’s lips. With new found courage eddie continues ‘Actually, about that…any chance I could have my casette back? I want to give it to Gareth.’ Eddie spent far too long on his perfect Steve mix, he will not let it go unheard. If he has to lie to get The Mix To Win Steve in that boys beautiful hands by god he will.
‘Gareth?!’ Steve’s smile drops instantly. Mood souring and expression turning hurt, almost bitchy ‘yeah sure, whatever. Thought we were making tapes for each other but whatever’
Confused by the sudden change Eddie carries on carefully ‘oh yeah, but I gave you the wrong one. That was for Gareth. For all of the guys actually. This one’ Eddie fishes the casette out of his pocket ‘this one is for you’ and slides it across the counter.
‘For…for all of them? You want to give that tape to all of the guys?’ Steve only looks more confused
‘Yeah man, why wouldn’t I? They are my guys!’ Eddie continues, trying to dispel this weird atmosphere. Before he can go any further Robin calls Steve into the store room, something about a stacking tower emergency and Steve is off, a dejected wave thrown at Eddie as Eddie walks out the door.
Weird. Very weird.
Nonetheless eddie hops into his van ready to drive home and start the process of Worrying About What Steve Will Think all over again. Curiosity gets the better of him though and he sticks the mistake casette into the player of the van, expecting a normal metal guitar riff to play out. What he gets? Is far, far worse
Trumpets.
Snare drums.
Oh
Oh no
Oh god
Then the signing starts. And Eddie knows. Eddie fucking knows that this tape only has one song on it. Repeated. On both sides. Over and over again. And Steve thinks. Oh Jesus what does Steve think. What DID Steve think? Eddie pulls over and sinks his head into the steering wheel until the horn drowns out the music of Monty python.
🎶 Sit on my face and tell me that you love me
I'll sit on your face and tell you I love you, too
I love to hear you oralize
When I'm between your thighs
You blow me away
Sit on my face and let my lips embrace you
I'll sit on your face and then I'll love you truly
Life can be fine if we both sixty-nine
If we sit on our faces in all sorts of places
And play, 'til we're blown away 🎶

you finally work up the courage to kiss Eddie for the first time and he can’t cope (even if he claims he can). 2k words. requested here
cw fem!reserved/shy!reader, first kiss, heavy kissing, mutual pining, eddie being a hot dork
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
Some people (Steve) call Eddie your loser boyfriend, while other people (the girls at work) call him the rockstar.
You see both sides of him now.
“Sweetheart!” he calls, the passenger seat window rolled down, his voice strong where he shouts behind the wheel. The van bumps the curve, leaving a sanguine line of rust in its wake and a creak to make everybody on the sidewalk wince.
“Hello,” you call back.
The van hums. You wait for him to be at a definite stop before you approach, hands on the open window, leaning up so as to see him best. It’s not just a usual date night tonight, Eddie’s taking you to Indianapolis for a rock show, and he’s dressed the part. “Woah, you look cool,” you say, bravely, wondering if that’s the right thing to say. It’s undoubtedly true —he’s slicked his curls with mousse to define them and leave them pitch black in accordance with his eyeshadow, dark and tapped into his lash line. The top he wears is incredibly tight, carving the softer lines of his abs for anyone to see, and his black jacket is ripped in places to expose the ink of his tattoos. “Are they multiplying?”
“What?” he asks, grinning at you. “Are you getting in? It’s freezing!”
“Your tattoos,” you explain, opening the door and popping up into the van with one shoe on the step.
“Shit, you wanna see?”
You’re not scared of Eddie, you just like him. He doesn’t worry you, doesn’t pressure you, nothing nefarious about him. He’s pretty, he’s considerate, and he does stuff like this, peeling out of his jacket to flex his arm at you and show you the Saran wrapping around his bicep. “Like that one?” he asks.
He has nice arms, and they’re all the better for his painful obsession. His newest one is difficult to see well under the wrapping. He notices you squinting and moves it up, tape pulling his skin.
“Another bat?” you ask.
“Not cool?”
“So cool,” you disagree. This bat is unlike the others on his arm, which are small and simple in comparison. This one is heavily detailed and very dark, fangs in small triangles bared. The eyes aglow. The skin around it is red. “Did you get that today?”
“On a whim. Still wanna date me, or is it getting to be too much?”
You can’t answer him, and he knows that. You’re not very good at navigating intimate conversation or circumstance, though you like him, and he must know that too. Or he must really like you. Your dates have been chaste. Only last time could you work up the courage to take his hand, but when you had, he rewarded your courage with a drove of tenderness, fingers rubbing your knuckles and squeezing soft patterns for hours at the back of the movie theatre.
The drive to Indianapolis takes near enough an hour. Eddie puts you on map duty but doesn’t use it, ignoring your offer of directions on the insistence that he knows a shortcut and then rerouting when you get too lost. He tells you there are snacks for you in the centre console and laughs, endeared, when you pop the lid and smile at it all. You talk about the show, a band you’d never heard of but had wanted to see on the grounds of sharing his interests. That’s what couples do, right? They try to do things together. You have to put yourself out of your comfort zone, and you’re happy to try if it means you can do it with him.
“You nervous?” he asks, pulling into the parking garage outside of the venue, a towering, multi-story fiasco crammed with cars and motorbikes.
“No,” you say, not quite mumbling as you look down at your hands.
“Good, don’t be. I’m gonna look after you, we’re gonna have a great time. And then we can get takeout after?” You look up. He stretches his arm out to glance at his watch. “I would’ve taken you before, but good old Indianapolis keeps getting further away.” He smiles apologetically.
You laugh without meaning to. His smile ramps up a notch.
“I love when you laugh. You have such a cute laugh,” he says.
“I know you’re lying,” you say, still laughing anyways.
“I’m not lying, I love the way you laugh!” He shakes his head, curls falling away from his face as he flicks on the light on the car roof. “We have half an hour till doors open.”
“You don’t wanna line up?”
“It’s kind of overwhelming and I figured we’d stay near the back of the crowd for your first gig here, it gets pretty rowdy.” He says ‘pretty rowdy’ like a drag, nodding gently, eyes lit with mirth. You love it when he talks like that.
“We can go now, get further in. I can handle it.”
“It’s not about handling it, I want you to have a good time. Plus, they could ruin your nice dress.”
You meet his gaze all smiles like he is, but heat flickers in your chest and in your stomach, and you have to look away. It’s an impulse you’ve always given into. You’re reserved in the feelings department but trying not to be, Eddie deserves reciprocation, but it’s hard. Either way, he seems to understand this about you, and he hasn’t complained.
Still, a bedraggled silence falls. Nearly awkward, unsure of how to tread, you sit together in your separate seats listening to cars parking and doors opening, closing on either side of you, the headlights of the cars driving past glaringly bright, white flashing over your screwed palms.
“You okay?” he asks.
You’re sure Eddie wants to kiss you. Three nights ago at the movies, after an hour of languid hand holding, he’d looked at your lips no less than three times as he said good night. He told you he’d had an amazing time, and that he couldn’t wait to see you again. You’d said the same in earnest, and then he’d just walked away. All those stolen glances and he hadn’t made a move.
“Eddie… why…” You poke your tongue into your bottom lip momentarily, chewing it over. “Why haven’t we kissed yet?”
“Um–” He lets out a nervous giggle before roughly clearing his throat. You peek at him, watching intently as he takes his hair away from his face with two hands. “I’m just waiting on you, sweetheart. No pressure.” He laughs as he talks, a picture of panic, “You’re sort of shy about that stuff, you know? I didn’t wanna surprise you.”
“But you do want to kiss me?” you ask unsurely.
He puts his hand on your knee, the space between you suddenly smaller and warmer, the light like white glaze on his pupils, illuminating his finer details. He has a mole nestled under his eyelashes too small to see until now; it catches your attention. You stare at him too long.
“Of course I do,” he says, eyebrows pinching together in concern. “I’ve wanted to kiss you since I met you.”
You nod and snap your head back to your lap. Why does he have to be so nice? You wish you’d listened to Steve, even if he was joking, you shouldn’t have ever said yes to Eddie, because now you’re terrified you can’t kiss him and you’ll ruin everything…
“Hey, it’s fine. I’m not waiting for anything. You can take your time or you could never kiss me, and I won’t care. I swear. I mean, I really want you to kiss me but I’ll find a way to cope, I’m sure.” He takes his hand from your leg softly. “Do you want my jacket? It’s cold out, n’ we should probably start walking.”
You pull your head up slowly.
He reads your hesitant expression. “I’m in no rush,” he promises, head ever so slightly ducked to yours.
Okay, you think. Okay, I can do this. You hold your breath and start to lean in. He falters, a millisecond of misunderstanding, before he recognises what you’re doing and smiles. He reaches for your waist with enough care to give you a chance to change your mind, and when you’re close enough to feel his breath, his lashes shutter.
You follow suit, blind, with nothing but your intuition as you press your lips to his.
With a feeling like the hum of the engine under your hands, you bring your fingers to his soft cheek and hold him still. He breathes in harshly, touches you far from it, his palm slipping behind your back to pull you in. You lean into it; it feels natural to give in, to turn your head one way and part your lips, to have him kiss back with heat and surprising sweetness.
You feel unlike yourself in a good way, falling back to kiss forward again, a third time, trying to chase the lulling bliss of his lips. The stomach aching want. Your hand chases across his cheek and into the curls behind his ear, needing him closer but not expecting the sound it elicits. He sighs into your lips and you flinch back, startled by the sensation.
Eddie rubs your back with his index finger, unjudging as you drop your head to catch your breath.
“You okay?” he asks quietly. You can hear his affection. It’s palpable.
You nod, a dizzy weight collected in your forehead, thankful when his free hand catches your cheek and he turns your face gently to the side. “I got too hot,” you confess, only half of the truth.
“It was pretty hot.” He smiles at you like you’re the only person in the world, like you’ve a secret only he knows. “Want me to turn on the A/C?”
“No, I–” want to kiss you again, you think. You might even tell him so, but he starts to blow on your face, disrupting any thoughts you’d had earlier. He purses his lips and blows cold breath on your cheek, a tenderness in his gaze and the tip of his thumb where it rests just under your eye. “Oh.”
This might be the most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for you. Your face feels precious in his careful hand, pretty under his longing look. You’re not scared when he encourages you back to his lips, your eyes quick to close, your hands across the gap of your seats to gather his shirt between tight fingers.
His kiss is a reflection of him. Loser, rockstar, he’s eager and his hands start to betray that, his kissing melty hot and addictive as the tip of his nose presses hard to yours. You turn your face to accommodate him better and that small action drives him crazy. He’s pulling you in, smiling into your mouth, making breathy sounds that’ll stick around in your head ten times as long as the tingles filling your chest as just kisses and kisses and doesn’t stop.
“M’sorry,” he says, pulling away, and then stealing another heavy, soft kiss like he couldn’t wait. “Sorry,” he apologises again, stroking the skin beside your eye to encourage you into opening them. “I’m not trying to get carried away. Just can’t believe you just kissed me.”
“No, it’s okay, I– I really wanted to.”
He kisses your cheek. You aren’t expecting it and you don’t know how to deal with it. It’s like kissing him has invigorated him, you’re a shot he knocked back, his excitement catching as he begs, “Close your eyes again, sweetheart, just one more–”
You raise your chin and he practically gasps, immediately pressing a last chaste kiss to your burning lips.
“I’m not always like this,” he promises, leaning away, his fingertips falling from your face to trace down your neck, your shoulder. “You’re just so fucking pretty I lost my mind. I’m on best behaviour from now on, swears.”
He raises his hand up in a scout’s honour.
You breathe out happily. “Thank you.”
“Oh my god. Quick, we better get out of this van before I lose my mind.” He shakes his head. “You’re insane. I have such a crush on you, holy fuck,” —he turns away from you and gets out of the van— “Jesus.”
You pull down the sun visor to check your reflection in the mirror. You look thoroughly kissed, eyes aglow with it.
“Fuck!” Eddie swears. You beam at yourself as he wraps on the window. “Come on, sweetheart! I have a concert to pretend to pay attention to.”
You slink out of your seat, brave enough to try for another kiss so long as it doesn’t kill him dead right here in the parking lot.

fictober (㇏(•̀ᵥᵥ•́)ノ)
Eddie Munson is a hopeless romantic.
Not because he loves like it’s breathing (though some would argue otherwise), but because his attempts to be affectionate with you are complete and utter failures.
He had a whole romantic day planned. A late lunch, a quick walk, and then sunset at the park. Honestly, it probably would’ve been a pretty metal date if it was any day other than this one — the biggest flood of the whole goddamn year.
You got to the diner just fine but had to rush back to the trailer in the rain since he didn’t have his van. Thankfully, it waited to outright pour until he got you home. Now, his leather jacket — which you’d used as a makeshift umbrella — hangs beside the opened window to dry.
The orange autumn breeze rolls over your bare bodies like silk (because, of course, an innocent shower after getting drenched in the rain couldn’t not end in getting dirty again).
“Was all this just a ploy to get me into bed?” you tease, tracing the freckles on his back with the tip of your finger. “’Cause you coulda just asked, you know? I would’ve said yes.”
Lying flat on his stomach, Eddie laughs into his folded-up arms. His deep brown hair brushes his pale shoulders when he turns to look at you. His smile is swollen and rosy and crooked.
“You got me, princess. Making my girlfriend walk in disgusting weather was all a part of my evil plan.”
“I wouldn’t say it was evil.”
“No?”
“Sinful, maybe. Sexy, even,” you joke with a lopsided grin. “But no, not evil.”
“Is that so?” he lilts as he rises on his elbow to prop his cheek on his fist.
You shake your head and roll onto your back. Your eyes flit to the spotted ceiling. A smirk blossoms on your lips. “I feel like evil would imply that it was hurtful in some way. And that thing you did in the shower felt way too good to be evil.”
“What thing?” the boy wonders with pinched-together brows.
You shoot him a look. “You know…” you hum vaguely, expectantly.
“No. I don’t, actually,” Eddie laughs, mostly at himself. “I’m kinda dumb, in case you forgot.”
“You’re not dumb, Eds.”
“Stop being sweet. You’re deflecting.”
You concede with a small huff. “That… That thing. With your mouth. When you pressed me against the wall and— please, don’t make me describe it, Eddie,” you ramble, then cut yourself off to whine.
He meets your grimace with a boyish grin. “I don’t know. I kinda like hearing you talk about it.”
“I’ll die,” you deadpan.
“You’re so dramatic.”
His words are harsh, but his pink smile is kind. He kisses you with it after — a smacking peck to the corner of your mouth that migrates rather quickly. He sprinkles his lips along your jaw and chin and neck.
That’s where he lingers.
Eddie finds your pulse point and goes a half-inch higher, just like he did while he was fucking you against the shower wall. You nearly came the first time he kissed you there.
He sucks at the delicate skin until he leaves another faint mark. The feeling of his tongue and teeth on your newfound sweet spot makes your toes curl. It has you moaning out loud before you mean to.
His lips audibly smack when he pulls away.
“That thing?” he wonders, smiling down at you like he already knows the answer.
Your thighs clench together. Your bones are made of mush. “That thing,” you repeat in the affirmative.
“Well, if we’re sharing secrets…” Eddie singsongs, then leans in all close like he’s about to spill the latest gossip. His fingers spread out along your bare waist, eyes sparkling with mischief. “I really liked it when you got all mean.”
You hadn’t thought much of it, then — when Eddie edged you on the counter with his fingers and laughed when you writhed.
You didn’t even let him make it up to you after, just sucked him off and told him he wasn’t allowed to touch you. “Don’t cum ’til I tell you to, understand?” you’d said. “Or I’m gonna get myself off, and you’re gonna watch.”
He was a good boy for you, though, and you let him fuck you in the shower.
Your nose scrunches in muted embarrassment. “I wasn’t being that mean, was I?”
“No. I mean, you could certainly get meaner…” Eddie assures with a shake of his head, then grins as his fingers crawl up your ribcage. You fight back a shiver. “Which I think could be preferable from time to time.”
“So, you want me to be more… dominant?”
He shrugs a pale, freckled shoulder. “Yeah. Sometimes. I like watching you get all dumb for me, don’t get me wrong, but every time you get a little mean, I almost cum in my pants.”
The blatant confession makes you go slightly stupid. You just nod at him, lazy and unblinking. “Yeah. I can do that. You know, if that’s what you want.”
“I do want,” Eddie hums, matching your sloppy head shake. His nicotine-coated breath fans across your cheek. “Very, very much.”
“But not all the time, though, right?”
“No. Not all the time. Just… sometimes— when the moment’s right or whatever.”
“Sure…”
Eddie’s grin broadens when you trail off. A faraway look glazes over your eye. His brows raise expectantly. “What’s that look for?”
You blink rapidly as you descend from the clouds. Shaking your head, you dismiss him. “Nothing. Nothing— I just… I did kinda like not letting you come right away.”
“Yeah. Me too,” Eddie concurs, suddenly breathless.
Your gaze flits to his, mousy and twinkling. Your hands fidget above the covers. “And I kinda wanna try letting you cum and maybe… not stopping…”
Eddie’s eyes go wide. His mouth opens to respond, but he forgets how to speak. He barely remembers to breathe.
“Is that… Is that weird?” you ask, forcing a laugh at his unusual silence.
“No!” he blurts, sounding much louder in the honeyed quiet of his bedroom. “No, that’s… That’s really hot, actually. Like, really hot.”
He zones out just like you had. The imagery of it all makes his stomach whirl. He’s done it to you a number of times — brought you to the edge and kept on pushing you over until you pushed him away. But he’d never thought about ever doing it to himself till now.
Actually, there’s quite a lot of things he’s done to you that he might enjoy himself if he thinks about it.
The thought alone opens a world of possibility in his wild, wild head.
“Can I tell you about something I was thinking about the other day?” he wonders suddenly.
Though slightly startled by the blurted question, you nod. “Of course.”
His gaze flits away from yours. His hand fidgets at your waist, fingers softly scratching at your burning skin. “You know my handcuffs? The ones I clip on my jeans sometimes?”
Again, you nod.
“Well, I— I have the keys, you know? So it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if we— you know— if we used them…”
“On me?” you press, brows pinched in distant concern.
Eddie shakes his head immediately. “No. I know you don’t like that.”
“So… on you?”
“Yeah. Maybe. If you want,” the boy mumbles, suddenly shy in a way you’ve only seen a handful of times — including earlier, when he was begging to cum in your mouth. “I just think it could be cool, you know? Like, you could tie me up and just… use me. If you want,” he repeats.
“Use you?” you repeat with a soft laugh.
He shrugs. “Yeah. I mean, I don’t— I don’t really care about getting off as much as I care about you getting off, you know? I just… wanna take care of you. Want you to take what you want.”
You open your mouth to respond only to find that all words have lost meaning. Your brain is a jumbled mess of alphabet soup. So you just nod, dumb at the very thought.
Eddie’s hand rises from the covers. His palm settles warm at your jaw. His fingers smell faintly of sex as his calloused thumb smooths across your chapped lips. “You could, like, rub yourself on my cock. Get yourself off on top of me,” he murmurs lowly to you, a quiet and crooked grin pulling at his mouth. “Wouldn’t that be metal?”
“Yeah…” you answer with a sigh, getting lost in the daydream right along with him. “Wouldn’t put you inside me at first, either. Not until you’re begging for it.”
His smile widens. “Exactly.”
“Then I’ll ride you until you make me cum.”
Eddie nods, egging you on. He tucks his face into your neck, if only to conceal how ardently he’s blushing. He hides his pink cheeks between your jaw and shoulder and kisses you where he knows it’ll drive you crazy.
“Mhmm?” he urges, muffled.
You sigh a faint moan. Your fingers curl in his wild hair. You press your lips to his temple and continue. “And I’ll let you come, too. Eventually… But I won’t stop.”
“Fuck,” he groans into your pulse.
“Not until you’ve filled me up three times—”
“Oh, fuck…”
You tug at his hair with a soft, stern touch you think you could learn to master for him. His lips click faintly when he parts from you. He blinks down at you with glassy chocolate eyes.
“Something like that?” you wonder, feigning innocence with a sweet-sounding lilt.
Eddie nods, sloppy and stupid. He stammers. “Yeah… Yeah. Some—Something like that.”

Steve watched Eddie's van turn the corner and shut the front door, closing himself away from the outside world so none of his neighbors could see him as he rested his forehead against the painted wood.
"I'm not going to cry," he told himself.
He said it even as his eyes began to burn and his face began to twist, teeth grinding and throat closing. He wiped quickly at his face, again and again, as he stumbled to the couch to sit, drying each tear as it rolled down his cheeks, clinging to his jaw.
"I'm not going to fucking cry," Steve choked, and then doubled over into himself, arms around his thighs, and he began to sob.
So what if he was twenty-two, living in his parent's house alone, working the same dead-end job with a sixteen year old manager. So what if all his friends and family were in college, spread out from New York to Chicago to Los Angeles. So what if his boyfriend was moving to Seattle for his band and they broke up, because Steve was never going to be his parents, resenting and being resented for keeping his partner from his dreams. So what if he was too scared to ask Eddie to stay, to ask Eddie if Steve could go with him. So what if everyone moved on and Steve couldn't?
Steve grew up lonely. He could get used to it again.
He didn't realize how hard he was crying until the front door burst back open and Eddie hurled himself at Steve's feet, long limbed and clumsy and babbling.
"Baby, oh fuck, I'm sorry," he said, already untangling Steve from himself, tying all his loose ends back up together with his until they were a knot of their own. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Stevie. I never should have— I wanted to—"
"I'm sorry," Steve sobbed back. He gasped and swallowed it all back down. Eddie had already gotten them raveled up again, it would take forever to pick it back apart. Steve knew it would hurt worse this time. "Fuck, Ed, you didn't have to— I'll be okay, I don't want to hold you back—"
"Come with me," Eddie burst.
And Steve couldn't help himself, and began to sob again.
"Please," Eddie begged over Steve's crying, his voice shaking and his face wet enough to match Steve's. "Please, sweetheart, honey, please just come with me?"
Steve took a shaky breath, embarrassed and now too full of hope and fear. "You sure?" he whispered. He pressed his face into Eddie's neck, breathing him in again for what might be the last time, again. "Eddie, don't—"
"I'm so sure," Eddie said. "I'm so fucking sure, Steve, please."
"Okay," Steve breathed. Eddie had always been the braver of the two of them, especially when it counted. Steve leaned back so he could look at him, red faced and watery eyes. He tried to give Eddie a smile, but he knew it was wobbly and weak. "Okay."
All of Steve's fears meant nothing as he watched the happiness break like dawn over Eddie's face.

On a Monday morning, Steve's dad frowns at his paper and throws Steve a sidelong glance. On the entertainment page is a black and white photo of Bruce Springsteen kissing Clarence Clemons.
Steve swallows his toast and shifts in his seat. But his father doesn't say a thing and Steve doesn't know where to begin. He's not asked to get rid of his Springsteen tapes. But he does find the paper later, tossed on the pile to go in the trash and clips out the picture.
It's not the first time he's seen this exact scenario with Bruce Springsteen. But it is the first time in a long time he's been interested in doing it himself.
He tucks the paper clipping away in a book under his bed. And he thinks about the cash he has saved up and how much longer Robin has to be in school for.
On a Friday evening, he fixes his hair and kisses his mom's cheek on his way out the door. The newspaper clipping under his bed is delicately frayed already, the thin paper worn thinner by his eager fingers.
He picks Robin up, waves to her mom and drives them just outside of town. Eddie's van is already there, quiet and dark because he and his band are already inside.
On a Friday night, Steve tucks into a beer and looks up at the stage. He smiles despite himself and thinks of Bruce and Clarence when Eddie and Jeff lean into the microphone together.
His palms sweat and he presses them to his bottle. The edges of the label are peeling like the newspaper clipping. He taps his toe to the music and smiles wider when a woman takes Robin by the hand to show her how to rock out.
On an early Saturday morning, so early Steve would call it late, he helps Eddie put the instruments away in the back of the van. He watches as Eddie stacks each piece carefully and curses when a cymbal crashes against an amp.
And he thinks about his newspaper and the judgement in his dad's eyes. He twirls his keyring around his finger and thinks of another life where he kept up with his piano lessons instead of baseball.
On an early Saturday morning, Steve closes the van doors just enough to block people from seeing them and he pulls Eddie close. And he wonders what it would be like to do on a stage.
And Eddie is not Clarence Clemons and he is not Bruce Springsteen. But his heart still races and his palms still sweat, and he knows he could bellow out of his lungs with joy if he was standing in front of a crowd.
And later still on that early Saturday morning, Steve feels the calluses of Eddie's guitar worn fingers on his cheek. And he listens to his halfway to hoarse voice tell a story. And he tastes cheap beer and song lyrics on his lips. And he thinks next Saturday, he might join Robin dancing in the dark of the bar.

What if Steve’s the one painfully pining thinking Eddie is straight.
Eddie unaware but happy he and Steve became friends after everything.
Eddie oblivious to how Steve’s cheeks turn pink when he gives Steve the blinding dimple laden smile.
Eddie blissfully living his life, eating Steve’s snacks at movie nights, and riding along in the car when the kids get dropped off at the arcade.
And months go by. Long torturous months where Steve (or really Robin) is sure he’s developing an ulcer because he always has a stomach ache.
Until Steve finally decides he can’t do this to himself any longer. He thought at least having Eddie in his life was better than not. But his heart hurts constantly and if he doesn’t cut Eddie out of his life, he knows it’ll never heal.
So he stops accepting the invitations to hang out. Comes up with excuse after excuse until Eddie stops asking.
He stops engaging in the conversations when Dustin or Lucas talk about that week’s campaign or this amazing thing Eddie did.
And he’s… fine.
Sure maybe when he’s trying to fall asleep some (most) nights he wonders if Eddie ever went to that new music store. Or if he ever found out if his weird neighbor was poisoning the stray cats or not.
He acts like the fact Eddie seems to be unfazed about the whole thing, isn’t the most painful thing ever. That Steve vanishing from Eddie’s inner circle didn’t even generate an annoying little blip for him to question it.
It’s fine.
He’s fine.
Until one seemingly innocuous afternoon, when Steve is at the Hallmark store picking up a birthday gift for his mom. He’s holding something with a generic motivational quote in his hands when a bang hits the store window to Steve’s left.
He jumps at the sound and turns immediately, his body poised in a defensive stance, when his eyes register what he’s seeing.
Eddie Munson with both palms smashed against the window gawking at Steve. The man’s eyes are wide and his mouth is open and he looks like he’s seen a ghost.
Steve catches his breath when he realizes he’s not in any danger, and he gives Eddie one of those mouth pressed smiles and a small nod. It’s been so long since they’ve seen each other Steve has to pretend it’s not causing him physical pain.
Then Eddie starts side stepping toward the entrance. He’s keeping his body facing Steve through the glass like he’s afraid if he looks away Steve will evaporate.
Steve knew he wouldn’t get away with never seeing Eddie again, but he had been hoping. He’s trying to ignore the desire to turn heel and find a back exit, and thinks maybe Eddie will just wanna say hi. Maybe Steve will only have to endure five minutes of interaction and they’ll go their own merry way.
“Steve!” Eddie says a little too loudly.
“Hey, man.” Steve smiles and hopes it looks friendly.
“Where have you been?” Eddie moves to stand directly in front of Steve, basically blocking him against the display table he’d been in front of.
“What do you mean?” Steve swallows a lump as he watches Eddie’s face twist into an expression of bewilderment.
“You kinda fell off the face of the earth, man. I was next door at Radio Shack and was headed to my van and thought I saw a figment of my imagination through the glass.” Eddie’s eyes suddenly dart around as of their surroundings just dawned on him. “Um…I kinda need…I’ve been thinking…can we, uh, talk? Somewhere more private?”
Steve’s mind starts flipping through possibilities of why Eddie can’t just say what he wants to say. It sounds ominous and he guesses they should get this over with. Maybe after this he’ll never have to worry about seeing Eddie ever again.
“We could go to my van? If-if you were ok with that?” Eddie quickly tacks on the last sentence.
“Sure?” Steve shrugs, sets the unimportant birthday gift on the table, and follows a step or two behind Eddie.
Eddie keeps glancing over his shoulder like he assumes Steve will dart out from behind him and book it across the parking lot. It’s making Steve nervous.
Eddie moves to the back of his van and unlocks the door, pulling it open and motioning to Steve to sit down. Steve cautiously slides his butt back onto the van, letting his legs dangle over the bumper, in case he needs to make a quick exit.
When Eddie sits down there’s an awkward amount of space between them. Steve ignores how the distance physically shows how much has changed between them.
“I…uh,” Eddie sighs then lolls his head back staring upward.
Steve can tell he’s trying to collect himself before continuing.
“Sorry, man.” Eddie chuckles nervously giving Steve a weak smile. “I wasn’t planning on doing this today so just trying to organize my thoughts.”
Steve is about three seconds away from vomiting all over the nearby asphalt. This is awful.
“I just…” Eddie turns his head to look at Steve. He looks pained, like whatever he’s about to say may crush Steve.
It probably will.
“I wanted to apologize, for…whatever it is I did. I know I’m obnoxious sometimes.” He rolls his eyes “Jeff tells me to chill out constantly.”
Steve pinches his eyebrows in confusion.
“I miss hanging out and seeing you, but I get it. You don’t give a shit about D&D or any of the other stupid things I talk about. I probably forced it and you are just too good of a dude to say anything. But that’s ok… I’ve done a lot of thinking…lately. You helped, sorta, expose something…about myself that I didn’t know.” He sighs before continuing. “I mean, I guess in theory I knew, but I just thought everyone felt like that.”
Steve feels like he’s traversing a perilous hike without a map right now, totally and completely lost.
Eddie clears his throat and fiddles with his skull ring. “I miss you. I mean, hanging out with you.”
Steve stares, unsure what to say. He probably looks like he’s short circuiting right now, because he doesn’t understand.
It’s been weeks, months even, and he never reached out. He never called or stopped by Steve’s place but he’s talking like it’s been killing him this whole time.
“I-I don’t understand.”
“What do you mean?” Eddie cocks his head.
“You missed me?”
“Yeah, of course.” He says it like it’s the most obvious thing in the entire world. “Why wouldn’t I? We used to hang out all the time, Steve. I saw you more than I saw Wayne, most days.”
“Why didn’t you ever call me then?”
“Did you want me to?” Eddie laughs awkwardly. “You stopped wanting to do anything. I figured you didn’t want to see me, it was pretty obvious. I was trying to respect your wishes, dude.”
Steve doesn’t know what to say.
Eddie kicks his feet a little while he keeps his eyes pointed down at the parking lot.
“Oh,” Steve’s heart breaks for a different reason this time. “You didn’t do anything, by the way. It’s not your fault. I just needed to focus and get my shit together. My dad bitching about college again and I needed a new job. I was just sort of…distracted.”
By you
“Oh, you coulda said something. This whole time I thought you hated me. That’s a fucking relief.” Steve can sense Eddie’s entire body relax next to him.
“Opposite really,” he mutters under his breath.
“What’d you say?” Eddie leans in, his face shifting to seriousness.
“Oh nothing,” he brushes off. “Ignore me.”
“Opposite?” Eddie’s voice is pitched.
Steve’s stomach drops.
“No-no, um…”
Steve puts his palms on the floor of the van and pushes himself out of the van. He wipes his palms on his jeans. He needs to get out of here.
“I gotta go, uh, it was good seeing you, man. Um,” he wants to suggest hanging out but he can’t say the words. “Bye.”
Steve gives a finger wave and wants to smack himself in the face for how stupid it looks. He power walks away from Eddie’s van toward his car. He can get out of here unscathed.
“NO! Steve! Wait, wait,” Eddie’s chasing close behind Steve.
Steve fumbles with his keys as he tries to unlock his car door.
“Me too!”
Steve stops, his hands hovers over the door handle. Did he hear Eddie correctly?
Eddie approaches cautiously. “Me too,” he repeats quietly. “Opposite. You-that was the thing. The thing I figured out. This was it.”
Steve turns slowly.
“I missed you, Steve.” Eddie’s eyes are big and bright as if someone handed him a Christmas present. “I missed you, more than I should’ve probably. Definitely more than…a friend would.” He shrugs and pulls his bottom lip into his mouth.
Steve’s ears are ringing. The planet has shifted, he’s sure of it. Is Eddie saying what he’s been craving from the man for almost two years?
“Opposite,” Eddie whispers.
“Opposite,” Steve echoes.
“I really wanna kiss you right now,” Eddie says gently.
Steve’s eyebrows shoot up and he stumbles back thunking his elbow against the car window. “Ow, shit.”
“Are you ok?” Eddie steps forward, reaching a hand out but avoiding touching Steve.
“Yeah,” he rubs his hand over it. “Do you-do you wanna come over? My parents aren’t home. Won’t be until Thursday.”
“That’s four days away, Steve. Are you suggesting I’ll be at your house for four days?” He twists his mouth in a sly smirk.
“Maybe, if we needed it.” Steve’s heart is pounding in his chest pleasantly now.
Eddie blushes and ducks his head. Steve can tell the man’s holding himself back.
“You coming?” Steve tilts his head.
“Fuck, I hope so,” Eddie growls.

Happy Valentine's, all. <3
Eddie doesn't want to be making this call. Literally the last thing he wants to be doing is making this specific phone call, but he'll be damned if he lets his asshole of a roommate get away with this.
After a moment the ringing stops, and a voice says "Hello?"
"Uh, hi, is this Steve?"
"It is, who is this?"
"It's Eddie, Jake's roommate? I got your number from him." Well, from his phone when he'd left it unattended one day, but Steve doesn't need to know the details. "I really, really hate to be making this call, especially the day before Valentine's, but uh. Jake is cheating on you."
The line is silent for a moment before he hears a weak "What?"
Eddie's eyes squeeze shut at the heartbreak he can hear in that single word. He hates that he's doing this, but knows it needs to be done, for Steve's sake.
"I got home from work not too long ago, and heard him with some girl in his room. I took a video, if you want proof, but I just- I thought you deserved to know."
There's a bit of shuffling on Steve's end, along with a soft sniffle. "I, uh. I don't need the video. I believe you. I'm not all that surprised, if I'm honest."
He huffs a laugh, the sound so self-deprecating that it makes Eddie's stomach twist in empathy. "Guess that makes me three-for-three on my long-term partners cheating. I'm starting to wonder what the fuck is wrong with me."
That last part is softer, like Steve was speaking to himself, but Eddie hears it and frowns, because- because Steve is lovely. He can tell that Steve is beautiful inside and out, always kind with just enough sass to make him so fun to be around.
He's always makes sure to talk to Eddie every time he comes over, even if it's just a simple greeting or goodbye, and whenever he cooks at their apartment - because he's a great cook - he always makes enough for Eddie to have some as well.
It feels wrong to hear Steve talk like this, like there's something about him that needs to be fixed. Like his previous partners were right to abuse his love and trust, instead of treating them like the treasures Eddie knows they are.
Before Eddie can speak out to reassure him, the man continues. "Thank you for telling me Eddie. Spending Valentine's alone is gonna suck, but I guess that's better than spending it with someone who doesn't care about me."
"Spend it with me."
Eddie isn't sure where the request comes from, but as soon as it leaves his mouth, it's all he wants.
Steve gives a soft "Huh?" and Eddie repeats it, "Spend it with me. A boy as pretty as you shouldn't be cooped up inside on a day like Valentine's. Let me take you out, try to salvage it for you at least a little."
Steve goes quiet, and for a solid ten seconds, Eddie is sure that he's about to be rejected.
And then Steve says "Jake was supposed to pick me up at 6:30 tomorrow. I'll come by yours at six instead, so I can break up with him before we leave. Is that okay?"
A sigh of relief, and Eddie slumps into the wall behind him. "Sounds perfect, Stevie. Wear something nice, but casual, okay?"
"I can do that. I'll see you tomorrow, Eddie. And thanks again."
Tumblr media
Jake comes across Eddie the next evening as he's packing the last of the food into a bag. He's spent the last hour or so getting it ready, making sure it's all perfect even though it's nothing too complicated.
A meat and cheese plate with some fancy crackers, a jar of the pickled asparagus he's recently become addicted to, a bowl of diced fruit and a box of fancy chocolates he'd splurged on.
He'd even dropped money on a bouquet of roses, and he already has a few comfy blankets and pillows packed into the back of the van. Everything perfect and ready to go. When Jake sees his preparations, he lets out a low whistle.
"Wow, Eddie. Trying to impress someone?"
Eddie shrugs, trying to be as nonchalant as possible. "Yep. It's our first date, so I want it to be special. Didn't wanna go the usual, boring, fancy restaurant route."
He's sure that's what Jake had planned for himself and Steve, and it's confirmed by the way his nose wrinkles. "There's nothing wrong with spending money on your date, Eddie. If you have the money to spend, that is."
Jesus Christ, Eddie can't wait to move out of this fucking place, and away from this fucking asswipe.
"Anyway, I've gotta go pick up Steve soon, and I'm planning on bringing him back here tonight, so maybe see if you can crash with your date, yeah?"
"Sure thing-" Eddie replies, though he's interrupted by the sound of a knock ringing through the apartment. He grins wide, knowing exactly who it is. "That must be my date. Can you grab that while I finish up here?"
Jake rolls his eyes but complies, and Eddie freezes in place, not daring to make a sound so he can hear whatever interaction is about to happen.
The door opens, and he hears Jake's confused "Steve? What are you doing here? I'm supposed to be-"
"Yeah, we're not doing anything anymore. Ever again, actually."
God, Steve sounds so bitchy, and Eddie fucking loves it. He grabs the bag of food and the bouquet of roses from the counter, glad that he got dressed beforehand, and makes his way to the entry.
"What are you saying, Steve?"
"I'm saying that we're over, Jake. Maybe you can call the girl you fucked last night and take her to dinner instead."
Eddie turns the corner in time to see Jake's stunned expression, clearly not expecting Steve to throw that at him. He takes a moment to bask in the fire burning behind hazel eyes, until they slide to him and that fire vanishes, replaced with something sparkling and delighted.
"Hi, Eddie," Steve says, his demeanor changing like the flip of a switch, and Eddie beams. He steps closer and offers the bouquet of roses, along with a "Happy Valentine's, Stevie."
The money Eddie spent on the flowers was worth it to see the blush that floods Steve's face as he reaches out to take them.
"Oh, thank you. That's really sweet of you."
"What the fuck is happening right now?"
Eddie and Steve both turn to look at a very petulant and confused Jake, and Steve just smiles. "Well, you just got dumped, and my Valentine is about to take me on a date."
It takes a moment, but something must finally click, because Jake's face goes red with rage. Eddie just grabs Steve's arm, guiding him out of the apartment before the man can actually do something.
"So what's the plan?" Steve asks as he takes Eddie's hand, lacing their fingers together as Eddie leads him to his van.
"Well, uh. The next town over still has a drive in theater, and they're showing some old romance movies tonight. The drive to get there is pretty nice, and we'll actually have some time to talk, and then- I have some blankets and pillows in the back of the van, and I brought food so we can do a picnic during the movies. I mean, if- if that sounds good to you."
Steve's eyes are sparkling again as Eddie rambles, and he squeezes their hands in delight. "That sounds perfect, Eds."
Tumblr media
By the time Eddie gets home late that night, he's learned two things:
The first is that Steve had already been debating on breaking up with Jake before this whole fiasco, but the thing stopping him was that he actually likes being around Eddie, and he thought wanting to hang out with his ex-boyfriend's roommate would be too weird.
The second thing Eddie's learned is that Steve's smile tastes like dark chocolate and sunshine, and kissing him might just be Eddie's new favorite hobby.
(Eddie does eventually show the video to Steve, just to reassure him that he didn't break them up so Eddie could date him instead. The only comment Steve makes is "She's definitely faking, his dick game isn't that good.")

my sillay goofy thought for you is….. picture this; corroded coffin performing their song, stacy’s mom (or sOME STUPID VARIATION OF IT BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THEY HAVE AT LEAST ONE SONG ABOUT HOT MILFS - and maybe the variation is… about having a thing for someone u totallyyyyy shouldn’t have. like who could THAT be?) anyways. is this anything🧍‍♂️
Picking this up and twirling it around like the end of a beautiful romcom AAAAAAHHHH
I ADORE this!! I feel like they’d go in for a 2 for 1 part of their set list. An milf interlude, a milf-terlude if you will…
Scotty doesn’t know and Stacey’s mom played back to back with so much ferocity that at the end there is a shout to the crowd for inhalers and a request for a musical interlude of Jeff giving a quite beautiful guitar solo from the last unicorn soundtrack. They have to calm the masses (6 people in the crowd actively not watching, 4 people that ARE and 5 people at the bar who are not facing them and engaged in their own conversations)
There is no coherence to a corroded coffin set list but you can’t say they don’t create a ✨ musical experience like no other ✨
(Yes Steve is one of the 4 that is watching and promptly unbuttoned his top button of his polo shirt after the milf-terlude that had intense eye contact with a one, Eddie munson)
