funniest thing about hakuba meeting shinichi is that he thinks, "a decent detective who also has appreciation for sherlock holmes? FINALLY someone who understands."

but then he quickly realizes that he's best friends with hattori hot-head heiji and for some reason he's dating kuroba the fucking menace kaito. of all the people to surround himself with, shinichi chose the two people on earth who gives hakuba the biggest headaches and i think that's fucking hilarious.

also hakuba going from "oh well at least kudou will keep kuroba in check" to "oh shit oh FUCK i was wrong, there's two of them now FUC K"

#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid #like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat #or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already #good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive #to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil #i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better #but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because #it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak #and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but #come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and #makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality #i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was #IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall #AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think #plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS #a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason #im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your #audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small #thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small #its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers #i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang #anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and #rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz #netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub #no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same #ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me #i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing #yapping

#my characters #fun fact i was watching a trio of streamers do tier lists and i saw them do a tier list about their streamer friends #and they all voted on how the person would die in dnd and the funniest thing to come out of it imo #was the difference of SELF SACRIFICE and under it FORCIBLY SACRIFICED #like who would take one for the team willingly and who would be disposed of with majority vote #then they added an executed for their crimes spot under that so while they were debating some guy they settled on #he was the one that initiated most of the forcibly sacrificed ideas and that means he was eventually executed for his crimes #which ... was really funny to distinguish #the point is thats karen in this non existent campaign #she is here to mess people up and then use her allies as scape goats and they all just go well that sucks peace out im on the chopping bloc #and chris is getting more and more distressed over the fact YOU GUYS CAN LITERALLY TALK YOUR WAY OUT OF IT #but they really dont talk their way out of it like he wants #they instead are like ok cool so im gonna pretend like i didnt see karen kill that guy #and shes like i mean it was an accident i didnt MEAN to kill THAT guy #which is why they all vote to not see it and not bring it up RIP that guy #i saved this canvas as A WARLOCK AND HER CLERIC #which is honestly fitting #anyway i wanna draw fanart again at some point but my joy is stored in the ocs rn #i dont play dnd i just listen to one person talk to me about dnd and thats enough #oops i fell in love

#currently crying because I'm alone with my husband's 94 year old grandma and I'm the only one who ever lets her talk about certain topics #so she just talked about her childhood and youth for one and a half hours #which means. the war #I'm not gonna go into it but it makes me cry every time even though I've already heard it all before #how can you not cry about a child who lost two of her teenaged brothers and had to watch the third one very nearly die too #the stories about how careful they had to be because the police constantly went to every house and checked everything #how they had to hide some of the milk from their cows so they could make butter because they couldn't afford to buy it #and how dangerous that was.#idk I'm so tired of people dying over senseless and unnecessary shit forever and ever and nothing ever changes and no one ever seems #to learn from it #or at least the ones in power don't #as long as there's disposable people (men) to send to war it doesn't matter. and now that's not even necessary anymore you can just kill #people from far away and. #idk about you guys but i find something deeply poetic in the fact that godfather and bottoms are like. in the same convo #rwrb got pushed to 10th place when i remembered that i did actually watch the godfather trilogy this summer #hate to give a coppola some credit but the godfather is a classic for a reason #it even kept my mum (the jane austen addict who hates blood and violence) invested and awake for the full run time #marry me with jlo and owen wilson got pushed down to 11 when i remembered die hard asdfghj #the ones who got away (2023 releases) are joy ride and scrapper. and aftersun. and past lives #if i have to pick a fave it's rye lane #it was just so iconic in every way #the script the visual story-telling the characters #the peckham of it all #also quite funny how obviously i gravitate towards a movie of colour #like. white people can make great art and i'll likely get to it #but i've spent a whole lifetime seeing those movies and now i'm gonna go out of my way #to make sure i watch all the movies of colour that interest me #polite society and they cloned tyrone and rye lane really just tick all the boxes for me #in terms of like. sci-fi/magical realism within the plot or the visual choices #i really mourn the lack of attention they got but i also know neither of them got a cinema release in sweden #and neither of them got any kind of substantial promo in sweden #so i can only assume it's a similar deal in other places #tragically enough

HEADCANON TIME

Okay so, my general headcanon for Tord is that he has OCD, his main themes would be safety and stability.

When it gets Bad, he’s very compelled to do checks around the house, this includes seeing if the water is still running or if all the light switches are still responsive. He might even badger Edd about the bills, and ask to see any recent receipts, Edd usually obliges but he’d probably clock him having an episode so he might try to sit him down later to check up on him.

Under no circumstances is Tord allowed to lock himself in during these Bad episodes, Edd might call for a ‘guys night’ just to make sure Tord doesnt ruminate on his obsessions.

They watch an anime movie Tord likes.
