you feel his hair tickling your face before you're even awake enough to open your eyes. the smell of his shampoo wraps around you like a blanket, and you hum with contentment as you snuggle further into the sheets. his heavy arm is draped across your middle, lithe fingers softly playing with the hem of your shirt, your head tucked into the crook of his neck to hide away from the sun shining through the blinds.

“baby? you awake yet?” a voice speaks just above a whisper, still coated with a layer of sleep, and you can already feel the hint of a smile creep onto your lips at the sound.

“no. ‘m still asleep,” you murmur back, wanting to savor this moment for as long as you possibly can. you feel shotaro’s chest vibrate with quiet laughter at your antics, his fingers splaying out against your back to hold you impossibly closer to him.

“okay. then i’m still asleep too,” he replies, nuzzling his cheek against the top of your head. you bite your lip to repress the giant smile that’s slithered onto your lips, shaking your head a bit in response.

“actually, i am awake. i haven’t given you your kiss yet.”

at the sound of your words, shotaro pulls back with an exaggerated humph. as you open your eyes to meet his, those sparkingly brown ones are already on you, watching as you move away from his chest to sit up. you rub your eyes with your fist, giggling when he wraps you up in his arms to pull you back on top of him, chest to chest now.

“was waiting for you to wake up. you know i can’t start my day without a kiss,” he speaks with a little smile; one that bunches up his eyes in the corners in that way that you love. you lean down to kiss his cheek a few times before cupping the side of his face.

“what time is it?” you ask, and a sheepish look falls onto shotaro’s face at the question, his nose scrunching up cutely.

“almost 11…” he admits quietly. 

you let out a tiny gasp, lightly swatting his chest. “taro! you have to go to work!” 

shotaro pouts at your response, shaking his head against the pillow as he gazes up at you.

“i need my kiss first.”

you can’t help but melt at the pleading eyes he sends you, and you reach up to brush some of his messy hair away from his face. his perfect, perfect face. every day, you wonder how you were so lucky to be loved by such an amazing person. 

“why didn’t you just wake me up? you big baby,” you mumble, pinching his cheek. he sticks his tongue out at you and you do the same to him. 

“didn’t want to,” shotaro speaks after a moment. “you looked too pretty.”

“am i still pretty now that i’m awake?” you exaggeratedly bat your eyelashes at him, effectively earning another laugh from his lips.

“you’re pretty no matter what. my pretty baby,” and his voice drips with such unexpected sincerity, your stomach swarms with butterflies. “c’mere.”

finally, he reaches up to trail his fingers against the sensitive skin of your neck before gently tugging you down to meet his lips. 

shotaro’s lips are warm and plush against yours, and you feel your heart clench in all the right ways as he kisses you. every kiss always feels like the first, your head beginning to grow foggy as you soak him in. his thumb faintly strokes the back of your neck and he tilts his head a bit to press closer to you—like your body being on top of his was simply not enough. 

your mind spins and twirls with adoration when his tongue swipes across your bottom lip, silently asking permission for your lips to part. he cradles you as if you are a piece of fine china, his hand leaving your neck to find your waist, holding you against him. you can feel his rapid heartbeat through his shirt and he sighs into your mouth, his limbs growing lax when you reach to rest your palm against his chest.

you knew that if you kept going at this rate, shotaro would never leave your side, so with a few tiny kisses to the corner of his mouth, you slowly pull away from him. 

“noooo!” shotaro whines dramatically, sprawling out on the sheets like a starfish. “this isn’t fair.”

“life isn’t fair, babe,” you giggle, leaning down to kiss him on the nose. “you have to go now.”

“don’t wanna…” shotaro huffs, trying to tug you back toward his lips. you smile as you give him another tiny kiss before rolling to the other side of the bed. shotaro is quick to follow you, but you stop him with a soft push to his chest.

“if you don’t go, then how are you gonna get your after-work kiss, hm?” you ask, cocking your head to the side. shotaro scrunches up his nose at you before deflating.

“you’re right,” he sighs. “one more kiss? for motivation?”

rolling your eyes fondly, you grab his chin and give him one long, sweet kiss. when you break away, there’s a goofy grin on his face that puts the sun to shame. 

shotaro reaches up to brush his thumb over your cheek fondly. “see you this evening, baby. i’ll call you during my break, okay?” 

“okay. i love you,” you yawn, snuggling into the sheets again.

“i love you,” he says back, but makes no move to leave once he sees you falling asleep again. “now i really don’t want to go.”

“taro, go!” you swat at him blindly through your laughter, trying to push him out of the bed.

“fine, fine! i love you! you’re so beautiful! i’ll miss you! and you better answer my call or i’m coming home early! i love yo-”

“taro!”

Cookie Crumbles

Pairing: Daveed Diggs x Black!Reader

Rating: 18+ Minors DNI suggestive language

Summary: Daveed figures out who’s leaving crumbs in their bed

Requested: No, another Drabble that was on my mind. I've had this WIP since Emmy and Daveed’s AD House Tour, which is still my favorite house tour. Also, this is fitting given the recent news of Daveed and Emmy announcing they’re having a baby!!! Enjoy!

Word Count: 752

Daveed huffed as he wiped the cookie crumbs off the bed, he’s been meaning to talk to you about it. Daniel must be leaving crumbs behind after he’s in their room. There’s always seems to be a trail of crumbs on his side of the bed when he gets back home from work.  The only ones home right now are you and Daniel, with you and Daveed having just moved from New York to LA, the two of you were still looking for a preschool for Daniel during that time he stayed home with you.

You shuffled into the bedroom, having just entered your ninth month of pregnancy; you were taking a break from working after just ending your run with Hadestown as Persephone three months ago. Now that you and Daveed made the move to LA you were looking to get into more screen acting roles.

“Who keeps leaving these crumbs?”

“Huh, crumbs?”

“There’s always crumbs on my side of the bed. I’m not mad it’s just every day.”

“It must be Daniel; he likes to sit on your side when you’re gone.”

You groaned as you climbed into the king-sized bed.

“Oh, my bad, babe.” Daveed grabbed your hand and helped you onto the bed.

“It’s fine,” You huffed out of breath.

“I’m so ready for this baby to come out. I’m so tired, you know I had to sit down on the steps midway. My feet are so swollen. I can’t fit any of my shoes.” You mumbled Daveed smirked as he moved to the end of the bed and started to massage your feet.

“I can get you new shoes.”

“That’s not the problem, with Daniel I barely gained any weight with this one I look like a—" You moaned aloud when Daveed massaged a pressure point on your foot.

“Feel good?”

“Mhmm,”

“Let me put one in my mouth.” Daveed joked, you giggled and tried pulling your feet away.

“Stop! We’re gonna wake up Daniel!” The two of you talked about your day. Daveed filled you in Season 3 of Blindspotting and the switch from STARZ to Apple TV. You talked about your meeting with Shonda Rhimes, there’s been talks of you joining Bridgerton for the next season. Daveed kept messaging your feet until he heard a soft snore. He tucked you into the bed and kissed your forehead before going to sleep himself.

Daveed heard chewing and assumed it was their new puppy Rocky, but he knew for sure that he put Rocky in his cage for the night. He sat up to inspect and accidentally leaned on to a bag of Toll House cookies on the bed.

“Babe!” You froze mid bite hoping that Daveed was talking in his sleep.

“Babe, I see you. You the one eating cookies in bed?”

“Hmm?”

“Hmm, you heard me. You lied on your own son.” You sighed as you sat up, the cookie still in your mouth.

“I can’t help it; your baby has me craving sweets. I’ve never had a sweet tooth before.”

“My baby?”

“Yes, your baby that you put in me.”

“Oh, the one you begged me to. ‘Leave it in Daveed! I want it! I want it!’” Daveed said jokingly mocking you.

“Be quiet!” You said slapping your husband on the chest. “I usually sit on your side because I miss you.”

“Aww!” Daveed teased pulling you in his arms.

“See, this is why I didn’t want to tell you. Let me go.”

“No, it’s sweet.” Daveed landed a wet kiss on your forehead making you groan aloud.

“I’ll make sure to get rid of my evidence. Next time.”

“Hmm, can I at least get a cookie?”

“Hell no, these are mine.”

You sat in Daveed’s embrace, listening to his heartbeat. Sitting in a content silence.

“What if she’s still breech?” You asked softly, at your last appointment, the doctor was worried that your baby hasn’t rotated yet. Daveed sighed heavily and held you closer wanting nothing more than to ease your mind of that possibility.

“If she’s still breech, then we have our other plan. We’ll do the C-Section and have a healthy baby girl. If not then, we have our original birth plan and have a healthy baby girl. Either way, we’ll be delivering a healthy baby girl. Okay?”

“Okay.” Daveed kissed the top of your head you sighed contently, ready to fall asleep.

“Let me put just one toe in my mouth.”

“Daveed, shut the fuck up and go to sleep.”

With that being said, here are some updates below

Countdown to Drums: Outlander Fandom Challenge 

As STARZ says, do you hear the drums? Well clan, we’ve made it to less than 4 weeks until the premiere of Season 4! To celebrate the end of Droughtlander and get us excited for the premiere The Lallybroch Library has created a 14 day Fandom Challenge. With alternating days of activities the last three weeks of our drought will go by in the blink of an eye! 

Challenge Activities:

Prompts: First activity is a collection of prompts based off quotes from Drums of Autumns. These quotes are taken to spark an author’s curiosity and get the creative juices flowing. Use the quotes as inspiration for a ficlet, drabble, or one shot. If writing isn’t your cup of tea, dinna fash! Use whatever medium or creative outlet that suits you and get moving.

Fan Favorites: Draw, write, gif- whatever your fan girl heart decides share with the Librarians the specific moments of our beloved characters and couple!

How many times was that now, a hundred you couldn’t help it you just kept pressing the buzzer finally your friends picked up the other line “You better be a hot Italian guy riding a unicorn, WHAT!” he shouted over the speaker peeking the audio “Benny, it me” “This better be good” he sighed buzzing you up. Pulling open the heavy metal door you click the elevator button. It wasn’t too late, turn around, go home forget it all, stepping into the elevator you hover over the button “Fuck” you mumble slamming your finger into the number six.

Knocking on the door Benny opens it wearing a tank top and shorts you clearly woke him up “better be good” he whispered as you walked into the apartment. Sitting on the couch you cross your legs “I have to tell you something.” Sitting down flustered “The last time I heard that was when my mama left my daddy, what wrong?” he said looking into your eyes. You loved his ‘take no shit from everybody’ attitude, Benny was your best friend and basically a brother…sister to you. You could tell him anything, then why was it now when you had the biggest new of your life the words just wouldn’t form in your mouth. “Are you dying, if your dying tell me now. Cause I want that gold dress you wore to my first show.” He joked poking you in the knee “What is it baby?” hot tears stabbed at your eyes, soon you couldn’t hold them back and you were a sobbing mess “I was kidding about the dying thing” he shushed sliding over to you wrapping his arm around you “I’m…pregnant”

Eyes wide, mouth open Benny stood “Don’t play with me bitch.” Nodding you wipe away your tears and pull a test out of your pocket handing to him. “Two…two pink lines, that means…” flustered he sits back down “Who’s if it’s some random guy I will kill you myself.” Shaking your head, you wipe your nose “Tom’s” you whimper “Does…does he know about the baby?” shaking your head tears cloud your vision again “Oh, honey don’t cry. Its gonna be okay” he shushed rubbing circles on your back “He’s gonna hate me” your voice muffled by Benny’s side which you were crying into “And whys that” he asked his tone defensive and his country accent thick “Benny there’s something you don’t know about Tom.” You start “He’s a famous actor,” Benny says moving your hair from your face “I never told you…” raising his eyebrow he chuckles “Yes because you’re the only person I talk to and I never leave this apartment. He’s famous, of course, I know him. We did this Hollywood Cuties contest at the club, all the queens voted and nominated people, he was one of them.” “I can’t keep it, tell me I can’t keep it” you plead “It’s not a toy you found on the sidewalk.” He was right but you couldn’t keep it “We’re twenty-one and he travels the world because oh yeah he’s a famous actor with millions of fans, I can’t do this to him” the stress and lack of sleep was starting to get to you or was it the hormones.

“Are you sure that’s the decision you want to make?"  he asked grabbing your hands “I need to, please say you’re with me. I can’t do it alone Ben” you ask your voice breaking as you hold back more tears. “I’m with you no matter what, you know that.”  He hugs you tight “But…” groaning he grabs your face in his hands like a mother talking to her child “You have to tell him, [Y/N] you have to. He has the right to know, even if you’re not keeping it. He has to know” “I love you, Benny,” you say baring your face into his chest “I know sugar”

When you got home last night Tom was in bed tucked in all tight, he had made you dinner and put it in the microwave with a sweet little note

“Hey, darling! I didn’t know when you were going to be home so I put this in the microwave. Love Tom”

Looking at him asleep in bed made your heart ache, a part of you wanted to pack your bags and save him the suffering of the… ordeal. Grabbing a pillow and blanket from the closet you camped on the couch. Thinking for most of the night until utter exhaustion overcame you and you fell into a deep restless slumber.

The smell of coffee filled the apartment as you sat up rubbing the back of your neck, why was the couch so uncomfortable. “Morning love” Tom chimed from the kitchen placing two mugs down on the island. Walking to the mug you can’t make yourself look at Tom who was sipping his coffee and burning holes in your side as he starred. Picking up the mug you bring it to your nose and take a deep sniff. Closing your eyes, you place the mugs back on the counter and put your head in your hands “[Y/N] is everything okay?” Tom asked rubbing your back “Everything’s…fine” you smile looking him in the eyes your heart stops and a lump the size of a watermelon forms in your throat. Oh, wait that wasn’t a lump, that was vomit, pushing past Tom you run to the bathroom slamming the door behind you.

Spitting the mouthwash back in the sink you flush the toilet stretching your neck “You got this” you whisper to yourself opening the door. Leaning against the wall is Tom biting his lips “Hey, is everything alright? Your freaking me out” opening your mouth to talk a small squeak comes out with a huff you plop down on the couch. “I need to tell you something and before I do know that you don’t have worry about anything.” Closing your eyes, you say the words so fast you can hardly understand “I’m sorry, in English please?” Tom jokes “I am…pregnant”

It takes a long while for Tom to react to your statement “What…it’s mine right?” he finally asks “Yes it’s yours, don’t worry I’m… gonna take care of it.” You say standing “excuse me” he blurts standing “if you're insinuating… what I think you are” “Yes, I am, I can’t have a baby neither can you,” you say calmly as panic fills Tom’s eyes. “I feel like I can’t breathe. You don’t get to make that decision without me, we’ve spent a year and a half of our lives together you can’t just leave me out of a choice like that” he snaps walking over to you, turning you walk the other way to hide the tears that were beginning to fall down your face “It’s my body, my decision” you mumble when he grabs your arm turning you around into his chest “Why?” he asks eyes watery “We can’t have a baby, think what it would do to you…your career.” You sniffle “Fuck my career, I-I love you.” He breathed “God I’ve waited so long to say that. I love you [Y/N] [Y/L/N], I love…” you cut him off by smashing your lips into his. The kiss was deep and full of pure love. You kissed till the both of you were breathless and you say “I love you too” “Love, we can’t deny the world a baby as beautiful as me…I mean you” you laugh as another tear falls from your eye “Are you sure, really sure” Grabbing your face in his hand he looks you directly in the eye “I am so sure,” he says before kissing you again.  THX 4 READING

  Day 1 In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? I'm assisting with mod duties this year and this is what I wrote for my introduction there: I've been in fandom a long time. I've seen some good changes and some not so good. Lately in some places there's been a lot of negativity in fandom and overall it seems there's been a steady decline in interaction. For me fandom is about the joy of connecting with other fans, discussing, creating, consuming - and also commenting on fanworks of all kinds. I'm hoping Snowflake Challenge will give us all a positive boost and encourage us to focus on the good and to rediscover the community side of fandom. And because I'm assisting with mod duties I'm seeing a lot more of the content being produced and its amazing and heartwarming to see people sharing their personal stories and how fandom has helped them, talking about their passions, sharing their favourite fandoms and resources and fanworks. It's wonderful to see so many journal entries and activity! Day 2 In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Legend of the Seeker. This is one of my longer and more active fandoms. The peoplespalace was where I felt very welcomed and encouraged and I wrote a lot of fanworks and participated in a lot of the activities there. I miss the Darken/Cara/Rahl family side of the fandom a lot. There was also legendland a landcomm which ran for many years – we even had a reunion battle last year which was nice! I wrote so much fic, made icons and other graphics, even fanvids. I tried to do every challenge where possible. I was on Team Cara for the longest time. Cara, Darken, Zedd were always my favourites ;) Before legendland there was whedonland and again I felt part of something there. It pretty much saved my life a couple of times. These days there's gameofcards and it's fun and I encourage everyone to check it out, but the more specific fandom landcomms seemed to make for more tight-knit teams and I miss them. Day 3 In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create. There are so many things I could rec! But I'll pick 5 AU fics from 5 different fandoms to spread the love a little Side by Side – Cormoran Strike http://archiveofourown.org/works/12036537 Fantasy au that ends in Strike/Robin, highly recommended. Murder – Dark Matter http://archiveofourown.org/works/12000579 College au based around an actual tradition of a game called "murder". As Glory Turns to Dust – Hamilton http://archiveofourown.org/works/11359656 Modern au with magic. Hamilton is cursed to be forgotten, leaving him alone in the world except, briefly, for Jefferson. Warning this is a fantastic fic but a sad ending. There is however a linked sequel by another author to put things right :) Skin Full of Lies – Black Sails http://archiveofourown.org/works/7570540 Soulmate au Silverflint "Every lie your soulmate tells you appears on your skin. Between outward lies, manipulations and stories told the crew John Silver's ink quite quickly takes over most of James' body." a gift fic for me, The Princess' Bodyguard – The Shannara Chronicles http://archiveofourown.org/works/13113129 pre-canon au in which Eretria is Amberle's bodyguard. One-shot but with potential for more, strong hints of Eretria/Amberle Day 4 In your own space, create a fannish wishlist. No limits on size or type of fanwork; just tell us what you’d like to see. Can we please do as most people asked on their fannish wishlist for day 4 and leave more comments? Can we journal more and create more? Can we rediscover the joy of fandom and stop with the "anti" behaviour? Please. More specifically for me, art for fics is always welcome. (I have a transformative work statement at LJ/DW and AO3 and have had translations of my work and podfic which are lovely!) In particular for my sfbb fic Bad Case of Loving You. I've got beautiful artwork for most of my sfbb fics, the DvD fics in particular. For sfbb I provide pinterest boards to help with resources and generally try to help artists out, as I did here. This is a Black Sails modern au medical drama with Silver/Flint/Miranda and Silver&Max and it was a labour of love and I'm still amazed I managed to write the thing. However it seemed to be cursed. My first beta dropped out. My first artist dropped out. My second artist swore they were ready to go then didn't post, then after the fest posted a basic stock photo+text "cover". *sigh* I made my own art in the end, banner and mini picspam for the tumblr promo post but I'm an amateur artist. Day 5 Recommend a fannish or creative resource. Springfield!Springfield! has movie and tv episode scripts. kiss them goodbye has a huge amount of screencap galleries. farfarawaysite has a smaller amount of pictures but tends to have high quality promotional pictures. Cloudinary is the site I'm using for image hosting since the photobucket debacle. Day 6 Leave feedback for a fanwork. Or multiple fanworks. It can be as simple as I liked this to a detailed list of all the things you loved about the fanwork. The key is to leave some sort of feedback. If you've already left feedback in the course of a previous challenge, it totally counts. But you're free to leave more feedback. My new year's resolution last year was to leave a comment on every fanfic, hosted on AO3, over 100 words, that I finished reading. (I needed some parameters; this doesn't mean I didn't leave comments at LJ/DW or on drabbles because I did, on occasion). I did the thing. I read a little less than usual. I noped out of more fics. But the fics I read and finished got a comment. I'm going to try and keep doing that. I've already left comments on some fics this year. My additional resolution for this year is to write down more of my ideas. Having plot ideas or dialogues while showering or in bed is one thing, but if I don't write/type at least the basics up, I forget them partially or entirely when I try to write the thing weeks or months later. Day 7: In your own space, create a love meme for yourself. Let people tell you how amazing and awesome and loveable you really are Come and tell me how amazing I am ;) Seriously though, I'm working on being more positive and telling myself I'm worthwhile, I deserve more, I am achieving more. But it always helps when other people are backing that up. Drop me a gif in the comments if that's easier, gifs are like greeting cards for saying the things we don't know how to otherwise express. Day 8 In your own space, share a favourite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favourite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. My love of Starz shows seems to kick off in second seasons. But also the moment I finally liked Lucrezia too, seeing her devotion to her sister. If you want me to like a character, have them adore and protect their little sister, if you want me to hate them, have them throw little sis under the bus. Riario tries to spare both girls, succeeds in saving only one, and his grief is evident as he speaks with a heartbroken Lucrezia. This scene changed how I felt about both Riario and Lucrezia and thus about the show and my fannish involvement. Similarly this humorous moment changed my feelings about Silver and SilverFlint in the opening episode of S2 Black Sails : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIt9u7CkBf0 when Silver completely misunderstands the plan and volunteers for a risky mission.
