In many locations, the trees are already bare and the days are becoming ever-shorter. Winter will be upon us soon… snow, ice, cold. A few sunny days interspersed with wind, the final crops coming off the fields, gray skies… Time to outside and enjoy the perfect temperatures of November because all too soon snow and frost will be upon us! If you're in the UK then you get it - this week has been full on downpours. On Halloween night I had a woman and child on ny porch hiding from it (I did invite them in but they said no, it was one of those awkward things)

Halloween was good - the kids and I walked all over to get the goodies (which I posted via stories) and now tomorrow is Bonfire night! Hoping to actually go to a Bonfire but will see how the weather holds.

Now with the clock change and the colour draining away from nature, the dull brown landscape morphing into the moody world we will live with for the next several months - poetic.

The frenzy of Halloween has subsided (ish, still living for those reduced Halloween items) people have carved pumpkins, planted autumn flowers (apparently that's a thing) and pulled out your cozy jumpers... And alas, now we're in November (ew, where did the year go!?)

Fridays. Admin days. Fridays for me are all about admin Sending emails, scheduling content, going through finances, pruning off my chaos coordinator pages ready for my prep for the week on Sunday. Filing papers. Etc. Having a day dedicated to tasks like this really help keep me on track. It helps me when planning in events, when scheduling in a coffee date with friends etc. Do you have theme days to your week? It’s coming, I can feel it. Cosy season is on the way. Flip flops have reluctantly been put in the cupboard until such time as we hop on a plane or summer returns next year. A change in the seasons is a great time to have a clear out to change things up, have a deep clean in the house and get rid of the energy that doesn’t feel so good anymore. Now while I’m not at the smudging sage around just yet, I do find having a big deep clean cleanses your mind and soothe the soul. Those transitional seasons like spring and autumn feel even more so a great time to de clutter. So when that change of the season feels heavy, when you ven feel a little anxious about the days getting darker, make a plan, stick on a podcast or some good cosy tunes and have a clear out, change things around and deep clean those neglected areas. Why? When I started the journey from stuck in the overwhelm, anxious, depressed ready to run away to in control of the CHAOS, more organised, feeling better about motherhood more positive about the future. I had to start with why? Look at those little faces. Innocent, happy little faces. When I look at them I feel sad. Sad that those faces of my biggest twins I missed growing into bigger kids. Sad that at that time I was always looking to get to the next better thing. The next stage, the weekend, just willing time away. My why. Is so that I never miss any more adventures. So that I can live a life that feels like I’m really living. So when I get to the end whenever that may be (hopefully in a very long time to go) that my kids are proud of who I am, who I was, that they have fond memories of our adventures to pass along to their kids. Back to school with confetti on top. Or back to school with a bump. However your first days have gone. It’s all ok. If they need some time to transition back into that routine. If you need some time to recoup. However your day has gone. It’s all ok. There is always a way to start over. There is always a chance to catch a breath. After some chores this morning & a then a trip to the dentist I needed a moment to top up my energy, A moment to breath. This is the river I used to swim in. Unfortunately we are no longer allowed due to vandals swearing at the farmer who owns the land. But just being there with a cuppa (my free cuppa for downloading the @greggs_official app) was enough to grab a breath after the first school run back. I mean to be honest it went surprisingly well. Often though it’s all a mindset shift that helps things feel like they are that bit smoother. It’s almost time. Back to school CHAOS! Back to shouting “get your shoes on“ “brush your teeth”, “get your homework done“ “why didn’t you tell me there was a letter in your bag” CHAOS! Back to squeezing in all the the activities. Then feeling the mum guilt because you’ve not spent any quality time together. Back to that impeding doom feeling knowing the house is a tip after the summer. You start a decluttering / cleaning up mission only to loose steam half way through. You start the school year mama with such intention right? But by a couple of weeks in you fall back to default because it’s just too friken much! 🔴STOP!! Take a rest mama. That first week back? Especially if your little ones have gone to school for the first time. You will have a lot of emotions spinning around right now. 🔴 STOP!! Take a breather gather your thoughts. Thank you for your lovely birthday messages for J&M yesterday. We had a lovely day not really doing anything just playing with their toys and a late night trip to the park on the way to taking their brother home. Watching these two grow up is amazing. One moment they are those little babies needing you at every moment the next they are telling you “I can do it mummy.” At every point there are moments you would rather forget and some that you want to hold on to as tight as possible. The babies that shook our world. Your brother & sister may have made me a mum. But you two made me a better one. Don’t get me wrong it’s not always easy, and in the first instance it was even harder in some ways. But you two crashing into our lives was my pivotal moment.
