Some Soft Kaeya Headcanons

Maybe it's because I was a little tipsy and sleepy last night but I had some soft Kaeya thoughts before bed that I wanted to share...

CW: Kaeya and reader both intoxicated, mention of alcohol, but this is pure fluff

-Kaeya, who's been drinking all night with you at Angel's Share but has somehow managed to keep his wits about him still, helping you out the tavern door while you giggle and stumble all over

-You're leaning on him and you're so warm from both the alcohol and because you're in close proximity to him, and when the cool night air hits your skin and inevitably causes you to shiver just slightly, he pulls you closer with the excuse of "I just want to keep you warm."

-Kaeya helps you all the way home, patient and caring as you cling to him for support the whole time

-He's definitely the type to make sure you're comfy and cozy the second you get home; he takes your shoes off for you, hangs up your jacket, and watches you diligently to make sure you make it to the bed before he tucks you in himself

-Yes, you heard right, Kaeya Alberich will find the softest blanket you have to cover you up with and fluff up your pillows for you while he's at it too. He even finds your favorite stuffed animal/comfort item and hands it to you/sets it next to you for you to hold (albeit with a little good natured teasing from him)

-He has every intention of lying down and cuddling with you after that but there's one last thing he wants to do. He gets you a glass of water and some painkillers for tomorrow or tonight if you need them. Always thoughtful when it comes to you <3

-After that he's all yours. Anything you want or need of him, he would happily oblige to if you just say the word! Back massage, foot rub, forehead kisses, cuddles, playing with your hair, you name it he'll do it

-In fact if you don't ask, he will willingly offer some of those things. Namely the foot rub since the two of you have been on your feet all day and he heard you complain that they were hurting earlier. He does not easily forget such details about you.

-I just know this man's pillow talk will make you swoon and curl further into him just to hear more. He loves you so much. He'll lull you right to sleep with sweet nothings and quiet reassurances that he'll still be there in the morning (KOF work permitting, but he'll somehow make it work, just trust him)

-Gives you so many kisses on the top of your head, on your forehead, and on your lips in between whispers and talking to you. He's so sweet and tender about it. Will kiss you over and over again, not just once or even a few times, but until he's sure you've fallen asleep before him.

-And even then, he still presses one last loving kiss to your temple before he drifts off himself after telling you how much he loves you

-Cuddles you the entire night, even in his sleep. Probably prefers if you're cuddled up to him facing his chest so he can wrap his arms around you, but he also likes to spoon you while he buries his face into your hair or neck too

-Kaeya is such a sweetheart. He likes to act coy on the surface but beneath that facade is a person who care very deeply for both you and his beloved city, friends, and family.

-When he wakes up first in the morning, the first thing he does is check on you to make sure you're still soundly sleeping with no disturbances. The next thing he does is gently remove himself from the bed to go and make breakfast

-Don't let him fool you with his sarcastic and witty comments when you finally rouse to the smell of a greasy breakfast and wander into the kitchen where he's cooking. He may act sly, say something like, "Oho, look who woke from their slumber! So you finally decided to join the land of the living again, hm?"

-But his smile is still genuine and he doesn't mean what he says. His giant grin proves he's happy to see you again despite his comments (and so does the way he wraps his arms around you from behind and rests his chin on your shoulder)

-Kaeya is soft, softie Kaeya, he is so so SO sweet on you if you let him be. I have not seen enough headcanons of him this way and I am here to supply!

Thinking about...

Kaeya, who loves peppering your neck with kisses. Who adores inhaling your scent and feeling your breath hitch as he ghosts his lips over your throat, searching for your pulse. He revels in the fact you let him so close, his teeth right next to your pulsing artery, to the airways and vocal cords. The only thing separating him from them is your flesh that he kisses and nibbles on, sucking on the particular sensitive skin just below your ear that makes you shiver. You will be covered with marks after and though there is a part of him that feels embarrassed that he let it get out of hand, there is no denying the smug pride he can't fully hide.

Zhongli, who strolls through Liyue Harbor with you, hand resting on the small of your back. His warmth spreads and you feel his thumb draw small circles on you, separated through your clothes. His rich voice telling you all kinds of stories, his eyes shining whenever he manages to make you laugh with an anecdote or feels your eyes on him for a little too long. He shows off his city to you in a subtle way all the while not so subtly showing you off to everyone nearby.

Childe, who does not see a reason to wake you up even if it's way past morning, the sun high in the sky. His arm is wrapped around your waist, his nose nuzzled against your shoulder blade as he chooses between pressing closer and breathing. He focuses on the rise and fall of each breath you take and the calm heartbeat and presses a small kiss above your spine, enjoying the taste and feel of your skin. He mentally congratulates himself on commanding his subordinates to leave him alone today.

Look I know this is now how it went 😔 but I really wanted to use this quote for these two (its from How to Train your Dragon 2), imagine Dainsleif feeling so much joy and relief upon finding the Lost Prince alive and well, him showing more vulnerability than Paimon and Lumine have ever seen. ITS NOT CANON, BUT IT COMPELS ME!!! xD

Re: your latest post on the maybe-Kaeya-coded wolf: I DON’T THINK YOU’RE STRETCHING! Maybe I’m being delulu too, but there’s been some connection drawn between Kaeya and wolves before!

Back in act 1 of the Mondstadt archon quest, when we’re doing the test runs of the start characters in the 3 temples, Kaeya’s takes place in the temple of the wolf! And Kaeya says that “It’s a pity that the temple of the wolf has been disturbed by such an atrocity.” Interesting that he says that specifically about the temple of the wolf and not the others. Does he have a particular fondness for the temple of the wolf? Is he aware that Andrius, the wolf of the North himself, still exists in some form and he feels bad for his temple being disturbed? Does Kaeya just have a fondness for wolves? There’s also that glorious April Fool’s Day post this year where we got that image of Kaeya riding Andrius (in all his beastmaster core glory). Again, suggests some kind of connection, either between Kaeya and Andrius in particular or Kaeya and wolves in general.

It’s not much, I know. Maybe there’s other connections elsewhere that flew over my head. But even if not, if I had a nickel every time hoyo made a connection between Kaeya and wolves/Andrius, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice!

And if this is a 3rd instance of that, well then, this is no longer a coincidence: it’s a pattern!

BESTIE YEEEES!!! I was also thinking of those facts!! There were just far too many connections for Kaeya and wolves!!! And this is exactly why I mentioned Rostam as well because if we are connecting them, then there's actually 4 instances! ( delulu with research and study ✌️)

To further explain to others who have not obsessively researched about Kaeya or Mond lore, Rostam is popularly the Kaeya equivalent in the story of him and Arundolyn (the Diluc equivalent), comparisons between them have been made for aaaaages! Childhood friends and rivals plotline for Rostam and Arundolyn and, just like Kaeya, Rostam also being known to handle a secret spy network/society that isn't afraid to do the dirty work to keep Mondstadt safe are some of the major connections.

Heres the spicy bit. Lately, hoyo seems to be casually pulling up connections for Kaeya and the wolves, which is fitting because Rostam is known as the "Wolf Pup"... but the wolves and stories aren't the end of their connection.

You see, in Kaeya's hangout, there is an instance where we get to see him act out as a prince named Qubad. This name is actually from one of the stories in a certain Persian book. Guess who else was in that very same Persian book? That's right, it's our wolf pup Rostam- one of the book's greatest heroes. Damn, even in source materials, they're connected...

Since I've been having "Kaeya dying" dreams, how much mora are we betting on that happening now? hihi 🤭

And when we continue with this line of delulu thinking...are we sure that Rostam wasn't a Khaenri'ahn? Aren't our fatui harbringers, in some way or form, connected to Khaenri'ah and/or the cataclysm?

you hummed, smiling a little. “yeah? i’ve been looking at apartments not too far from here for the both of us.”

but kaeya didn’t seem to have heard you properly, already laughing it off nervously. “you’re right maybe it isn’t the right —” 

then the hand that was softly stroking up and down your thigh froze as your words finally dawned on him. “w-wait, what?”

“yeah,” you laughed, showing him the list of apartments on your phone. “look, kaeya, this one even allows pets! we can finally adopt the stray dog you always feed near the — babe, are you crying?”

blinking away the tears in his eyes, kaeya couldn’t help but nuzzle his face into the crook of your neck, laughing breathily. “s’just that i’ve been looking at apartments for us too.”

laughing, you pressed a fond kiss to his temple. “you gotta show me the apartments you have in mind so we can look into them soon.”

“later, let me hold you some more, love.” came his response, pressing soft kisses on your neck.
